Como travel guide and discussion

During my trip to Milan, I found Miscusi | Pasta Fresca to be an incredibly convenient spot for a quick bite of pasta, especially if your itinerary happens to take you through Milano Centrale. Located at Piazza San Camillo de Lellis just near the station, it’s practically a lifesaver for those who have just arrived in Milan, are getting ready to catch a train to another city, or simply want a hot meal while lugging around their suitcases. When I first came across Miscusi, its biggest draw was its focus on fresh pasta served in a more modern, fast-paced setting—a stark contrast to the lengthy, drawn-out meals at traditional Italian restaurants. For independent travelers, this kind of pacing is a perfect fit for a Milan itinerary. 🍝 Actual Dining Experience Walking into the restaurant, you’ll find a menu boasting a variety of pasta and sauce combinations. There are plenty of options, and you can easily mix and match based on your own preferences. I think the best part about this setup is that you aren't tied down to a fixed menu. You can pick your favorite pasta shape and pair it with the sauce of your choice. It makes dining with a group so much easier—whether someone is craving tomato sauce, cream, or cheese, everyone can easily find their perfect match. Overall, the pasta is cooked al dente (with a firm bite in the center). If you're used to the softer noodles typical in Asia, it might seem a bit hard at first, but this is actually the authentic texture of Italian pasta. ⭐ Things Worth Noting · Convenient location: Close to Milano Centrale, perfect for grabbing a bite before or after a train ride. · Wide variety of pasta: Highly customizable to suit your own taste. · Great for quick meals: Much more convenient than traditional sit-down restaurants if you have a tight schedule. · Mobile ordering available: Super handy if you're comfortable with scanning a QR code to order. · Group-friendly: Everyone can easily choose their preferred pasta and flavor. · Vegetarian-friendly: Good options for different dietary needs; you can check the menu beforehand to decide. 🍅 Which Flavors Are Best for First-Timers? If it's your first visit, I'd recommend sticking to the classics rather than trying overly complex combinations right out of the gate. Go for tomato, meat sauce, pesto, or cheese—this makes it much easier to appreciate the quality and texture of the fresh pasta itself. If you love rich flavors, cheese or cream-based sauces are the way to go; if you prefer something a bit lighter, tomato or veggie pairings work perfectly. The restaurant also rolls out seasonal specials, so you might find different options every time you visit. Also, be sure to save some room for dessert! I’ve seen plenty of great reviews raving about their tiramisu. If you still have room after your pasta, definitely order a portion to round off your meal. 🚆 Best Time to Fit This Into Your Milan Itinerary? I think the absolute best time to visit is right before or after catching a train. For example, if you're heading from Milan Central Station to Como, Venice, Florence, or other cities in the morning, you can arrive a bit early to grab breakfast or lunch nearby; if you get back to Milan in the afternoon, you can grab a plate of pasta before heading back to your hotel. This is especially crucial when you're traveling with luggage. Not having to go out of your way into central Milan to find a restaurant is a massive plus. You can finish your meal and head straight to the station, which saves a ton of time for travelers with action-packed itineraries. 💡 Dining Tips If you're visiting during peak hours, make sure to leave yourself a little buffer time so you aren't rushing. The ordering system is pretty digital-heavy, but if your cell service is spotty, don't hesitate to ask the staff for help directly. Keep in mind that this spot is best for travelers looking to grab a quick plate of pasta, rest up a bit, and move on. If you're expecting a highly formal, traditional high-end Milanese dining experience, Miscusi's vibe might not be what you're looking for; instead, it offers a youthful, simplified take on pasta, allowing travelers to enjoy a meal in a relaxed, casual way. All in all, I think the biggest perk of Miscusi | Pasta Fresca - Milano Centrale isn’t that it's a "must-visit destination" you should go out of your way for, but rather that it’s an incredibly convenient pasta joint when you happen to be in the Milano Centrale area. It’s easy to find, offers great variety, has a simple dining concept, and lets you customize everything to your liking. For first-time visitors to Milan, stepping out of the station with your luggage, sitting down for a steaming hot plate of pasta, and then heading out to explore the city sets a wonderfully comfortable pace for your trip. This kind of spontaneous, deeply satisfying meal has actually become one of my most practical, favorite food memories around Milan Central Station.

“Como is a place where the mountains meet the lake's mirrored surface, and every alleyway feels like a step into an Italian fairytale. It's the kind of spot where you just want to freeze time, breathe in that crisp Alpine air, and soak up the moment.” 🇮🇹✨ Here are some fascinating facts about Como and Lake Como: 1. One of Europe's Deepest Lakes. Lake Como plunges to a depth of roughly 425 meters, earning its title as one of the deepest lakes on the continent. 2. Over 10,000 Years Old. It was carved out by retreating glaciers at the end of the last Ice Age. 3. An Upside-Down 'Y'. Take a look at a map and you'll spot its iconic, easily recognizable three-pronged shape. 4. A Celebrity Hotspot. The shores are dotted with the villas of the rich and famous. George Clooney, for instance, has owned a lakeside retreat here for years. 5. Birthplace of the Battery. Como is the hometown of Alessandro Volta, the brilliant physicist who invented the first electrical battery. The 'volt' is named right after him! 6. A 130-Year-Old Funicular. You can ride the historic funicular from Como up to the hilltop town of Brunate for jaw-dropping views of the lake and the Alps. 7. Italy's Silk Capital. Como is the heart of natural silk production. Tons of high-end global fashion houses source their luxurious fabrics right here. 8. A Stone's Throw from Switzerland. You can hop over the border to the Swiss city of Lugano in just about 30 to 40 minutes.

The Magnificent Duomo di Como: An Architectural Gem by the Lake If you're visiting Lake Como, Italy, and don't stop by the Duomo di Como, you're seriously missing out! It's one of the most stunning and historically significant cathedrals in Northern Italy, featuring a gorgeous blend of Gothic and Renaissance architecture. Must-See Highlights Grand Exterior: Built from bright marble, the facade is adorned with intricate stone carvings and topped with a charming green dome. It’s picture-perfect from absolutely every angle. Spectacular Ceiling & Dome: Step inside, and you'll be greeted by soaring vaulted ceilings adorned with blue and gold motifs, along with an exquisitely detailed golden dome that will truly leave you in awe. Stained Glass & Ancient Tapestries: The afternoon sunlight streaming through the stained glass windows creates an incredibly serene and deeply sacred vibe. The cathedral is also home to priceless paintings and marble sculptures. Travel Tips Location: Situated right in the heart of the Old Town (Piazza del Duomo), it's super easy to get to from either the Como Lago or Como San Giovanni train stations. Admission: Free to enter (though a small donation or maintenance fee may apply for certain sections). Vibe: The spacious piazza outside is lined with cute cafes. Grab a seat, sip on a coffee, and relax while taking in the breathtaking view of the cathedral. If you're planning a trip to Lake Como, be sure to pin this spot and drop by to experience its beauty and tranquility! ✨🇮🇹

When you visit Italy, the food will definitely not disappoint you 😛❣️. You don't have to dine at high-end restaurants for every meal; in fact, the streets, local markets, and supermarkets are packed with mouthwatering eats. Here are five of my tried-and-true food recommendations in Italy, plus a pro tip for saving money 🫶🏻 · -- 🍦 1. Gelato: The Soul of Italy, Coconut Flavor is a Must-Try Visiting Italy without having gelato is like not going at all. I tried several gelaterias this time, and none of them missed the mark. What amazed me the most was the coconut flavor—it was incredibly creamy and smooth, not overly sweet, and didn't leave a sticky feeling in my mouth afterwards. There are also plenty of other choices: pistachio, lemon, chocolate, strawberry... Every scoop is dense, unlike regular ice cream that feels airy. By the lake in Bellagio, the cheapest gelato I found was just €3. Sitting on a bench by the lake, eating gelato while taking in the swans and the gorgeous lake view, was absolutely idyllic. · -- 🍰 2. Italian Pastry Shops: Beautiful Cakes, But Too Sweet for Me The window displays of Italian pastry shops (Pasticcerias) are incredibly tempting, filled with an array of delicate mini cakes, cream puffs, and mille-feuilles. I tried a "fruit tart" that was said to be a local specialty. To be honest, it was just too sweet for my liking. If you've got a massive sweet tooth, you might love it, but if you're like me and don't enjoy cloyingly sweet things, I'd suggest just buying one small piece to taste first rather than getting a whole box at once. · -- 🎪 3. Como Weekend Market: Bustling, Delicious, and Dancing If you're in Como over the weekend, you have to check out their weekend market. The market is super vibrant, with stalls selling clothes, handicrafts, spices, cheese, and prosciutto... but what drew me in the most was the hot food section. The food options were endless: from Western-style steaks and burgers to Asian fried noodles and Vietnamese spring rolls, plus seafood platters and grilled squid. I tried their fried chicken wings—the skin was deep-fried to a perfect crisp, the meat was super juicy, and the seasoning was spot on. They were honestly better than what you get at many fast-food joints! The market also features live music and crowds dancing. Eating while watching the performances made for a really joyful atmosphere. I recommend going on an empty stomach so you can graze your way from one end to the other. · -- 🍝 4. Pasta, Pizza, and Risotto: Restaurant Must-Haves, But No Need to Eat Them Every Meal When in Italy, you obviously have to eat authentic pasta and pizza. I ordered a tomato pasta—the sauce was rich and flavorful; for the pizza, I went with the classic Margherita—thin and crispy crust, fresh tomato sauce, and basil leaves. Simple but incredibly delicious. There's also risotto, cooked to creamy perfection with butter and cheese. · -- 🛒 5. Supermarket Money-Saving Hacks: Desserts, Bread, and Bento Boxes Can All Be Dinner Italian supermarkets (Coop, Conad, Lidl) are essentially a budget traveler's best friend! A lot of local desserts and freshly baked breads cost less than half the price you'd pay at a café. I highly recommend: · Fresh supermarket bread: Especially the rosemary focaccia. The aroma is mouthwatering, and it's super satisfying even when eaten on its own. · The dessert section: Tiramisu (in cups), panna cotta, cream puffs... about €2-3 a cup, which is way cheaper than eating at a restaurant. · Lunchboxes and hot food: Supermarkets have a heating section where you can buy roast chicken, rice balls, or pasta salads to take back to your hotel for dinner. It's budget-friendly and super convenient. · -- 📌 Summary Italy has a ton of amazing food, but you don't need to dine at a restaurant for every meal to enjoy it. · For gelato, go for the coconut flavor; you can grab one by the lake for just €3. · Pastry shops are gorgeous, but watch out—they can be too sweet‼️ · The fried chicken wings at the weekend market are mind-blowing. · Pasta and pizza are definitely worth trying once or twice. · Supermarkets are your best friend for saving money; bread, desserts, and meal boxes are all great deals. If you're also planning a trip to Italy, make sure to save this post so you can eat well and have fun without breaking the bank~ 😊🇮🇹

🇮🇹 Lake Como, Italy 🍝 Il Carrettiere I recently visited Lake Como, a popular travel destination near Milan, Italy. The village around Lake Como is filled with amazing restaurants, and I had the pleasure of dining at Il Carrettiere. This restaurant offers a variety of seafood dishes and wood-fired pizzas. I ordered the lobster spaghetti and a non-alcoholic beer, which cost me €31.50. Although I have a favorite lobster spaghetti spot in Milan that I visit every time I travel there, I found the lobster spaghetti at Il Carrettiere to be even more delicious. The lobster spaghetti at Il Carrettiere is made with a rose sauce base, combining tomato and cream, and enriched with lobster sauce for a rich and savory flavor. It includes half a lobster, which was incredibly fresh and had a delightful texture. I thoroughly enjoyed picking out the lobster meat. The portion was quite large, so I packed the leftover spaghetti to enjoy later for dinner. Even when cold, the spaghetti was still surprisingly delicious. For those who prefer non-alcoholic options, the restaurant also offers non-alcoholic versions of Italian beer. As someone who doesn’t drink alcohol, I appreciated being able to enjoy a refreshing beer that felt invigorating. Additionally, the restaurant’s ambiance was beautiful, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The staff were kind and attentive, which added to the pleasant atmosphere. If you’re traveling to Lake Como near Milan, why not try the lobster spaghetti at Il Carrettiere? 🇮🇹💚

#summerbudgettrip Think Lake Como is only for A-listers and luxury villas? Think again! You can soak in the views, charm, and dolce vita without spending like George Clooney. Here’s how to enjoy Lake Como on a backpacker’s budget with first-class vibes. 🏞️ Best Free or Cheap Things To Do 🏘️ Explore picturesque towns like Varenna, Bellagio, and Menaggio by foot. Wandering the narrow alleys and waterfront promenades is totally free — and 100% magical. 🚶♀️ Hike the Greenway del Lago di Como — a scenic 10km trail through villages, gardens, and villas with unbeatable views (no ticket needed). ⛪ Visit free historic spots like Villa Olmo gardens (Como town) and charming churches scattered across the lakeside. 🏖️ Public beaches like Lido di Lenno, Spiaggia di Lierna, or Bellagio’s free pebble beach are perfect for swimming or lounging with your own picnic. 🚤 Transportation Tips ⛴️ Take ferries, not taxis — The public ferry system connects the main towns affordably. Buy a day pass for unlimited travel (cheaper than individual tickets if you’re town-hopping). 🚆 Train from Milan to Como or Varenna is quick, scenic, and budget-friendly (under €5–€8 one-way!). 🚶♂️ Walk or use local buses between smaller towns — much cheaper than driving or private tours. 🍝 Eat & Drink on a Budget 🍕 Grab slices or panini from local bakeries and cafés instead of dining at lakeside restaurants. 🧺 Have a picnic by the lake — pick up prosciutto, cheese, and fruit from markets. 🥤 Avoid tourist traps — walk a few blocks away from the water to find affordable trattorias. 💧 Bring a refillable bottle — Italy has clean, free public fountains (look for “Acqua Potabile”). 🛏️ Where to Stay (Budget Picks) 🛌 Hostels in Como and Menaggio offer budget beds with views (check Lake Como Hostel “La Primula”). 🏡 Budget B&Bs or guesthouses in towns like Dervio, Lecco, or Colico can be cheaper than Bellagio or Varenna. 🧳 Stay in Milan and take a day trip to Como — especially if accommodations are full or overpriced during high summer.

#europetrip #italy #como Visiting Como Cathedral (Duomo di Como) is a journey into the heart of Italian Gothic and Renaissance architecture. Situated in the charming lakeside city of Como, the cathedral is one of the most significant churches in northern Italy. Construction began in 1396 and spanned over three centuries, resulting in a stunning blend of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque elements. The façade, with its intricate sculptures and rose windows, is a masterpiece of Gothic artistry, while the interior features grand columns, ornate frescoes, and an impressive collection of tapestries from the 16th and 17th centuries. The cathedral also houses precious artworks, including a magnificent altar and paintings by Bernardino Luini, a pupil of Leonardo da Vinci. Its location near Lake Como adds to the experience, offering visitors breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere that perfectly complements the historical grandeur of this architectural gem.

#europetrip #italy #como While many tourists head straight to Bellagio or other popular areas, the town of Como itself is a hidden gem worth exploring. We spent two delightful days strolling through this charming lakeside town, discovering its rich history and serene beauty. Highlights include visiting the impressive Como Cathedral (Duomo di Como), admiring the elegant Villa Olmo, and wandering the picturesque Piazza San Fedele. A leisurely walk along the lakefront promenade offered stunning views of the shimmering lake, especially during sunny autumn days when the vibrant foliage added a magical touch. Como’s tranquil atmosphere and captivating scenery left a lasting impression.

Location: 5.0 Service: 5.0 Health: 5.0 Facilities: 5.0 It's another set of pictures with a huge amount of information. Unfortunately, no one took pictures for me. Fortunately, I have a pair of skillful hands. Como is the most beautiful small city on the edge of Milan, and many people like it entirely because of Lake Como. It's hard to find a hotel with a view of the lake. Fortunately, people who love to laugh are not unlucky, so I stayed in Small this time. Opposite the room is the lake, and pedestrians flow through the feet. It seems that you suddenly understand Bian Zhilin's mood. You stand on the bridge and watch the scenery, and the scenery is watching you upstairs. The bright moon decorates your windows, and you decorate other people's dreams. #100WaysOfTravel #solotravel

#myhiddengems Just a short stroll from the Como ferry stop (15min), you will find this hidden gem located right by the lake! The view here is surreal! And of course, the food was really good too! Would recommend the anchovies pizza here, that was the most authentic pizza I’ve had in Lake Como so far! 💰Average Price per Person: around 20 Euro/person 📍Address: Giulietta al Lago - Como, Viale Geno, 13, 22100 Como CO, Italy

Como is the most famous lake in northern Italy, a common saying among the locals is: those who have vacationed at Lake Como are the ones who truly understand life. Lake Como is near the Alps, so in addition to the beautiful lake view, there is also a magnificent feeling~. If you come to I sincerely recommend a day trip to Como. It takes an hour by train from Milan, and there are many beautiful small towns scattered around the lake. The scenery is very stunning, many locals come here for the weekend, wearing swimsuits and jumping directly into the blue lake water, super decompression! Lake Como is a famous tourist attraction in the Italian 🇮🇹 Alps ⛰️😎 It is the third largest lake in Italy 🇮🇹 so it attracts many people to travel Many people will come in summer🙈 However I think winter is more special💕 But you won't be able to play in the water😬😬 I go there by RE, although you have to change trains, but it's a little cheaper 🤏🏻 You must go to Bellagio Bellagio Town Street 😆 This street is really super cool 🤣🤣 The whole town has a resort atmosphere 😗😗 so it was nice to walk slowly after lunch 🥣 #winter travel #popular exhibition #countryside #travel abroad #resident writer

Sweeping friends circle, Lake Como tour guide, stay at Vista Palazzo About Lake Como Lake Como is a world-famous scenic leisure resort and also a famous scenic spot in Italy. There are a lot of villas with historical value and architectural value on the lakeside of Lake Como. The lenno villa, built by the famous designer Ciacomo Mantegazza in 1926, once competed for the F1 car Schumacher and Brad Pitt, Kevin Costner and Bruce Springsteen. Its really because of these unique buildings, and its one of the reasons why many people come here to punch cards. Climate Como Lake is connected to the Alps. Many places on the shore are cliffs. It is said that you can ski there all the year round. It is quite cold this season, so remember I wear more clothes. Anyway, when I went out, I had already taken the thick coats. After all, it would be quite troublesome to get sick abroad. You can go to Milan first, then buy tickets from Milan's central railway station to Como town, or you can come directly from the airport, the nearest one should be Lugano airport. Attractions There are a lot of attractions to visit, such as Como Cathedral, Vodafone Museum, Villa Olmo, etc. It is very worthwhile to check in, right and there is Lake Center Island, don't miss it. Accommodation This time I lived in Vista Palazzo, a lakeside hotel. When I stayed, I was still very small. The whole hotel can be seen in Lake Como, using a very elegant and stylish decoration style. The most important thing is that it is very close to the train station, about 1 km away. There is a cafeteria on the top floor of the hotel. Although it is not big, it is enough to enjoy. You can enjoy breakfast here while enjoying the scenery. And the staff of the hotel is still very enthusiastic, because it is a relationship with people? ! Everyone can enjoy a very good service.

Sophie's Italian travel notes Como, half an hour's drive from Milan, Italy, has an ancient church overlooking Lake Como on the Swiss border. Of course, the most attractive thing is food. The Italian restaurant El Sombrero, which was brought to the locals, was far from the sights, and many locals were there. 10 Europe's Qingkou and Huajia platter is both a starter, but the serving size is like a staple food. Add the white wine and garlic to cook, light and sweet, if it can be better with white wine. Seafood angel noodles, noodles cooked thoroughly, not too hard to hurt the stomach, absorbing the rich sauce, is a good spaghetti I have eaten in Italy. and dessert, butter pudding and tiramisu, each serving 5 euros, the size is large, simply win the quality and price of domestic dessert stores, only hate their appetite is not big enough, can not eat a few copies at a time.

Nice place , will come again
