Detian Waterfall has reopened, and it turns out to be so beautiful!
Sitting on a bamboo raft and slowly approaching the waterfall, the water and mist rush towards me. At that moment, I put down my phone, hoping to capture the spectacular and romantic scene with my eyes👁.
This is the Detian Waterfall located in Chongzuo, Guangxi. The scenery seen in reality is ten thousand times more beautiful than the photos. It is recommended to take a bamboo raft🚣🏻 and climb the mountain to enjoy the transnational waterfall from multiple angles.
The upstream of Detian Waterfall is a waterfall in Vietnam. It is said that Vietnam releases water every day at noon⏰, and the water💦 volume is the largest at that time. So, either enter the scenic area around eleven o'clock, play around first, and then take pictures of the waterfall at twelve⏰, or come early like us, climb the mountain🏔 first to overlook the full view of the waterfall and karst landforms, and then go down the mountain at noon to take the bamboo raft. It turns out that the water volume is indeed the largest between 11:00 and 13:00.
👉 There is also a rice field coffee☕️ shop in the scenic area, which is highly recommended. The price is not expensive, and it is located halfway up the mountain, making it a great viewing spot.
Before you go, it is best to check the weather for the next three days. If it has been raining continuously, the water may turn yellow.

Guangxi's Little Guilin - Serene Waters and Mountains, No Crowds
Mingshi Tianyuan is a national AAAA-level scenic spot known for its clear waters and picturesque mountains, earning it the nickname 'Little Guilin.' While Guilin is very popular and often crowded, those who prefer a quieter experience might consider visiting this Guangxi gem.
Near Mingshi, there is a famous roadside roasted pig. However, due to the dust kicked up by passing vehicles, it may not seem very hygienic. Additionally, as this is a tourist area, the prices are relatively high. It is recommended to opt for simpler dishes or noodles at regular eateries instead.
As we debated whether to take a bamboo raft or tour the park, a tourist from Shenzhen suggested walking along the riverbank to enjoy the same beautiful scenery and close-up performances of ethnic minority songs and flute playing. We found that the riverbank offered equally stunning views with a broader perspective. The most beautiful aspect of Mingshi Tianyuan, however, is best appreciated on foot.
Mingshi Tianyuan has specially designed five cycling routes of varying lengths: 'Blessing,' 'Happiness,' 'Hero,' 'Couple,' and 'Exploration.' Due to time constraints, we couldn't explore all five routes and chose the one recommended by the staff for its sunset views, which lies between the Blessing and Happiness routes. This path takes you through vast farmlands with majestic peaks in the background, perfect for photography.
Given the hot weather, cycling along the route is advisable. If you choose to walk, be sure to take sun protection measures and bring enough water. Most hotels offer free bicycles, so check in advance when booking. If not, bicycles can be rented at the park entrance for 60 yuan per 3 hours. Most of the Blessing and Happiness routes have dedicated bike paths with minimal village traffic, ensuring a safe and enjoyable ride.

The Transnational Waterfall Just Around the Corner
Connected to the neighboring Ban Gioc Waterfall in Vietnam, the Detian Waterfall is the largest transnational waterfall in Asia and the fourth largest in the world. It is a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction in China. Surprisingly, this world-class waterfall is not far from Hong Kong at all.
Basically, all the spots along the scenic area are along the waterfall, so you can take good photos everywhere. Halfway through, you can choose to pay $30 for a boat ticket to take a small boat to the front of the waterfall for a closer look. The unique feature of this park is that it borders Vietnam, and you can see tourists visiting the Ban Gioc Waterfall on the other side. The park has multiple waterfalls to view, as well as many river features, including rapids and plunge pools. It feels like a field trip for geography students, leaving us in awe. Besides paying $30 to take a boat for close-up shots of the waterfall, you can also see the first, second, and third tiers of the Detian Waterfall by walking along the artificial trails. The third tier offers a full view of the waterfall, the second tier captures the rushing water (for those who like fun photos, you can take pictures that look like you're drinking the waterfall), and the viewing area allows you to photograph all the waterfalls and even capture the curtain of water effect.
Behind the waterfall, there is a Sino-Vietnamese market, but it has been closed due to recent Sino-Vietnamese relations. Finally, if you want to return to the entrance of the scenic area, you can choose to take an electric car, but we strongly recommend walking, as there are viewing areas along the way where you can capture panoramic views of the waterfall. Seeing this magnificent waterfall up close is definitely worth the ticket price.
If there's one regret about the park, it's that at the beginning of the trail, you'll be constantly approached by local vendors trying to sell you various products, which can be quite annoying.

As soon as we got off the train, wow, we were really amazed by the beauty of this city!😍 Ink-painted countryside, surrounded by mountains, rushing waterfalls, and low prices, it simply fulfills all the fantasies of 'choosing a city to grow old in'!🤩 In such a landscape, time seems to stand still!🤔 What worries can't be cured by the mountains and waters of Chongzuo? 4️⃣Longyang Tiankeng: Not far from Chongzuo in Baise Jingxi, there is a real-life Zelda!😜 'The wind blows the grass low to see the cattle and sheep' is embodied here, the round trip hike takes about 3 hours, remember to bring trekking poles and water, and also prepare for sun protection!💪
5️⃣Old Town of Jiuzhou: This place is known as the 'hometown of embroidered balls', it is basically not commercialized, and taking photos on the bridge is very photogenic!😘 After 6 pm, entry is free!

The Secret Journey in Chongzuo
- **Detian Waterfall**:
- Under the morning sun, we drive towards Detian Waterfall. Along the way, passing through winding mountain roads, the sound of water in the distance gradually becomes clear.
- Upon arrival, we take a bamboo raft to feel the droplets of water falling from the sky up close, as if having a profound conversation with nature.
- **Mingshi Pastoral**:
- Leaving the waterfall, we cycle on the paths of Mingshi Pastoral. The rice fields on both sides glow with a golden light, and the occasional farmer working in the fields creates a peaceful and beautiful scene under the setting sun.
- **Tongling Grand Canyon**:
- On the second day, we delve into Tongling Grand Canyon. The huge leaves block out the sun, as if entering another world.

Chongzuo | I discovered a hidden paradise in this frontier town!

· Spanning China and Vietnam, it is YaZhou DiYi, the world's fourth transnational waterfall🌊!
· From a distance, the scenery is well-ordered, up close, it is majestic🌄. Drifting on a bamboo raft in the river, admiring the green mountains and waters on both sides🌿. Only by standing in front of it can you feel its awe!

· Departing from Nanning, 250 kilometers🚗, a three-hour drive.
· Because I passed through Mingshi Countryside, I went directly from Nanning to the nearby Mingshi Countryside Scenic Area and stayed for one night🏨. Wow! I finally found the Changliu Fairyland from 'The Journey of Flower'
The Detian Transnational Waterfall on the border of Guangxi is the Changliu Fairyland in the TV series 'The Journey of Flower'. Detian Waterfall and Mingshi Pastoral are actual filming locations from the series. As a 5A tourist attraction, 'One waterfall across two countries', it is also the largest transnational waterfall in Asia and the fourth largest in the world. Located on the border between China and Vietnam, the opposite bank of the Guichun River is Vietnam. Within the scenic area, you can see Vietnamese houses and countryside. It is said that a 'cross-border tour' will be launched here, allowing visitors to enter Vietnam for sightseeing.

Half in China🇨🇳, half in Vietnam🇻🇳, take a boat tour to admire the magnificent waterfall scenery on the Sino-Vietnamese border river. It's currently the high-water period, and I strongly suggest arriving around noon, as Vietnam upstream will release water, making the waterfall even more spectacular!
2️⃣Mingshi Pastoral
The mountains and pastoral scenery here are tranquil and pure. Renting a bicycle or a small electric scooter to ride through the fields is really healing. In the evening, the sunset through the mountains creates an incredibly dreamy scene✨
3️⃣Tongling Grand Canyon
Deep in Guangxi, there's a prehistoric Jurassic plant garden of China! Without visiting here, how would you know that a leaf can be bigger than a person!
4️⃣Haokun Lake
Navigate to 📍Nongwaitun and then slowly drive up the mountain road to the innermost basketball court, then hike to the top. You can also take a rural motorcycle up the mountain from the foot of the mountain, trying the same hiking route as Zhang Xinyu, worth a try for friends who like outdoor activities.
5️⃣Sanmenhai
The water here really has magic! The color is dreamily extreme! Even on cloudy days, the lake presents a milky white color like Tiffany blue. If you've heard of Palau's Milk Lake, then this is Guangxi's Milk Lake! What's more special is that walking through the canyon caves feels like being in the world of 'Ghost Blows Out the Light'.
6️⃣Chongzuo Wild Camping Collection
I can say without hesitation that just for this wild camping collection, I would visit Chongzuo again! It feels like roaming in a small Southeast Asian country, filled with a vacation and leisure atmosphere. Sitting on the nearby Heishui River, drinking afternoon tea on a bamboo raft, is a truly special experience! Swimming in the mushroom-roofed pool in the afternoon and watching the sunset on the lawn in the evening is definitely a wonderful time.

Chongzuo, a place that lures you into a painting
The best time to visit: Personally, I think Chongzuo is worth visiting all year round, but if you want to avoid the crowds, you can choose to travel in the off-season, such as from October to December, when the weather is cool and there are not many people. Travel tips:
Day 1: After arriving in Chongzuo, go to the hotel to rest for a while, then you can stroll around the downtown area of Chongzuo to feel the local atmosphere. In the evening, you can go taste the local specialties, such as sour soup fish and sticky rice. Day 2: In the morning, you can visit the iconic scenic spot of Chongzuo - the Zuojiang Scenic Area, to appreciate the beautiful natural scenery. In the afternoon, you can go to Mingshi Countryside to take photos that will absolutely blow up your social circle! In the evening, you can choose to stay in Mingshi Countryside to experience rural life.
Day 3: In the morning, you can go to Detian Waterfall to feel the grandeur of nature. In the afternoon, you can visit the Friendship Pass to learn about the rich history and culture of Chongzuo. In the evening, back in the city, you can go to the night market to taste more delicious food.
Trip highlights: The most unforgettable part of this trip for me was the experience in Mingshi Countryside. I rented an electric bike, shuttled through the country lanes, and admired the beautiful rural scenery, feeling as if I was in a painting.

Detian Waterfall is beautiful, but the Skywalk is not worth it
As the only cross-border waterfall in the country, Detian Waterfall is still worth a visit.
It is recommended to plan your arrival time in the afternoon or evening, stay overnight at Detian Village at the entrance of the scenic area, and visit the scenic area the next morning.
After booking a hotel in Detian Village, you can drive into the scenic area, where parking costs 30 yuan, without time limit.
The night view of Detian Village, like a low-end version of Hongya Cave, is somewhat brilliant and charming. The streets are filled with the sounds of vendors speaking Mandarin with a Guangxi accent, along with Vietnamese-style goods, bringing an exotic experience.
The prices are acceptable, and the locals I met were very down-to-earth. At the hotel where I stayed, the merchandise counter was unattended, and you just take what you need and pay for it. For breakfast, I had chicken rice noodles outside, and the owner said I was the first customer, so he gave me a discount of 5 yuan.
Winter is the dry season for Detian Waterfall, and after 11 a.m., Vietnam will release water to increase the flow of the waterfall, so there is no need to enter the scenic area too early in winter.
After entering the scenic area, first walk to the left, where you can choose to take a bamboo raft to get close to the waterfall. Half of Detian Waterfall belongs to Vietnam, so maybe by taking a bamboo raft, you'll have technically been abroad.
At Tongguo Square, on the left is the Sino-Vietnamese style street and the entrance to the Skywalk, and on the right is the viewing platform and exit. If you go to the Skywalk, you will also circle back to the viewing platform on the right.
Taking the magic carpet to the Skywalk and the slide down the mountain, the on-site ticket is 78 yuan. The so-called magic carpet is just a conveyor belt used in factories. I had only seen belts transporting ore before, but this time it was an eye-opener to see belts transporting people.
Due to the angle, you can't see the waterfall from the Skywalk, only the mountains and villages of Vietnam. This ordinary scenery is common in Guangxi, so I didn't take a single photo.
The Skywalk is just a chicken rib, it's not worth going up, but since you're here, you might as well. If you go up, there's really nothing to see.
If you have plenty of time, are not afraid of getting tired, and want to save money, you can walk up to the Skywalk from the exit of the slide without spending any money.
On the way back, there are several viewing platforms. When you reach a mall marked 'Exit', don't go in just yet. The last viewing platform is behind and to the side of the mall, and it's easy to miss.
This is the viewing platform with the widest view, perfect for taking photos with the waterfall.

4️⃣ Longyang Tiankeng: Near Chongzuo in Baise Pingguo, there hides a place like a Zelda in the real world. 'The wind blows low and reveals the cattle and sheep' is vividly presented here, and the round trip hike takes about 3 hours, remember to bring a walking stick and water, and take sun protection measures.
5️⃣ Jiuzhou Ancient Town: Known as the 'Town of Hydrangea,' it is largely uncommercialized. Taking photos on the bridge is very photogenic, and you can enter for free after 6 pm.
6️⃣ Waterfall Canyon Group: Gulong Canyon, Tongling Grand Canyon, Aibu Waterfall, and Sandiequan Waterfall each have their own characteristics. 🌼【Mingshi Countryside】
1) Mingshi Countryside is a scenic area, with hotels divided into Mingshi Villa, Mingshi Courtyard, and Mingshi Elegant Residence (free boat ride once a day in the scenic area, breakfast and dinner included? Bicycles are free, free beer), which are guest houses, four-star hotels, and boutique hotels respectively.
Personally, I don't recommend staying here, mainly because the prices are quite high, but if money is not an issue, feel free to choose~
🌼2) Ways to explore Mingshi Countryside (I rented an electric bike)
🔵1. Bamboo Raft
The whole bamboo raft journey takes 40 minutes, costs 120 yuan, and because the exit of the bamboo raft is in the Zhuang Ethnic Museum, it also includes the museum ticket (80 yuan if bought separately). The bamboo raft mainly sails in the river, many places are not accessible, many views are not visible, so I don't recommend spending this unnecessary money.
🔵2. Bicycle/Electric Bike
There are bicycle/electric bike rentals along the road. The scenic area has built a bicycle lane, you can ride without a ticket. The road condition is good with no slopes, you can go deep into the countryside, and have a complete experience. You can enter from the entrance near Longtou Mountain Viewing Platform, cross a bridge in the middle. The price is about 10 yuan/hour for a bicycle, 10 yuan/hour or 20 yuan/hour for an electric bike, depending on the model.
🔵3. Randomly Find a Tuk-tuk on the Road
Most of the tricycles parked on the side of the road are tuk-tuks soliciting business. They can go on the bicycle lane, saving time and effort, and you can have a complete experience. Basically, you can play from near Longtou Mountain Viewing Platform to the Happiness Bridge (100 meters in front of the Secret Hotel).
🌼3) Mingshi Countryside has two large parking lots, which are the upper and lower points of the bamboo raft. For the upper point, navigate to 'Mingshi Countryside Scenic Area West Parking Lot' or 'Bamboo Raft Tourist Boarding Dock'. For the lower point, navigate to 'Zhuang Ethnic Museum'. However, there is also a shuttle bus between the two points.
