A Feast

We celebrated a special ocassion at the mamasan in bali. It was 4 of us and the restaurant was very impressive. It does what can be considered as a modern take on Indonesian cuisine. But such a delightful concoction and fresh seafood. Every dish was beautifully presented, with a curated mix of ingredients that provided the perfect balance of flavors. The highlight of the dinner was the snapper sashimi with pineapple kimchi—a true masterpiece of culinary art. The raw and seared snapper was skillfully paired with a spicy, sweet, and sour kimchi pineapple that elevated the fish with its crunchy texture, sour juiciness, and a kick of spiciness. We also loved the scallop pancake, which showcased delicate flavors where the sweetness of the coconut pancake seamlessly paired with the tender and sweet charred scallop. We ended the meal with a delightful Asian dessert featuring mochi balls stuffed with sweet and salty peanuts, paired with fantastic coconut ice cream, black sesame powder, and peanut mousse.
