Back to Modernist Age in Canet de Mar

Just a one-hour train ride north from Barcelona, the coastal town of Canet de Mar has the privilege of combining long strips of sandy beachfront, heritage urban architecture and green mountain ranges. This is a great city escape for a short day trip or a weekend getaway. You will be able to enjoy the modernist architecture in its downtown. Actually, Canet de Mar owes a lot to master architect Lluis Domenech i Montaner who established in this town his home and contributed with many artworks. It is specially recommended to visit Canet in the month of September, usually the third weekend of the month the village celebrated the Modernist Fair, where the entire local population engages in recreating those years with outfits, complements and make up that are reminders of those times.
