Windy City: Culture, Architecture and History

Here’s some of my favorites from my week-long quest in discovering the beautiful city of Chicago! 1. Millennium Park and The Bean: Start your adventure at Millennium Park, a sprawling oasis in the heart of downtown Chicago. Marvel at the iconic Cloud Gate sculpture, affectionately known as "The Bean," which reflects the city's magnificent skyline in its polished surface. Take a leisurely stroll through the park, enjoying the beautiful landscapes and art installations. 2. Grant Park: Adjacent to Millennium Park, and the hotel I stayed in (Congress Hotel) you'll find Grant Park, often referred to as Chicago's "front yard." This expansive green space is home to Buckingham Fountain, a magnificent landmark that mesmerizes visitors with its grandeur and water displays. 3. Agora Statues: Still at the Grant Park, the awe-inspiring Agora statues. This unique installation features 106 iron sculptures, created by Polish artist Magdalena Abakanowicz. As you wander amongst the towering figures, contemplate their significance and the artist's intention in creating this thought-provoking display. 4. Willis Tower: Reach new heights at the Willis Tower, one of Chicago's most famous landmarks. Ascend to the Skydeck on the 103rd floor and experience breathtaking panoramic views of the city and beyond. 5. Navy Pier at Night: As the sun sets, head to Navy Pier for a truly enchanting experience. This iconic entertainment destination comes alive with dazzling lights, thrilling rides, and delicious dining options. Take a romantic stroll along the pier, enjoying the stunning views of Lake Michigan and the glittering cityscape. 6. Adler Planetarium: Discover the wonders of the universe at the Adler Planetarium, America's first planetarium. Explore interactive exhibits, gaze at the stars in the Grainger Sky Theater, and learn about space exploration and astronomy. At the same time, this is where you will see the most stunning views of the Chicago skyline. Be sure not to miss it! 7. Starbucks Reserve: Last but not the least, for coffee enthusiasts like me, a visit to the Starbucks Reserve Roastery is a must. Immerse yourself in the world of artisanal coffee as you explore the multi-level space, witnessing the roasting process and indulging in unique coffee creations. Savor the flavors and aromas that make Starbucks Reserve a haven for coffee lovers. #iamtravelaine❣️ #wheninchicago #thebean #millenniumpark #agorastatues #starbucksreservechicago #wecreate
