Ancient temple, thousand-year-old ginkgo

Went to Mogan Mountain to see the ginkgo trees, although it was a bit late～ Mogan Mountain is a popular travel destination in Zhejiang, here you can find not only the rare bamboo sea scenery 🎋, but also over 200 old villas with various styles. Besides strolling through the bamboo forest, feeling the freshness of nature 🌿, Mogan Mountain also has many lesser-known attractions, such as Tianquan Zen Temple 🏯, famous for the two thousand-year-old ginkgo trees in front of its gate. 📜 Tianquan Zen Temple One of the earliest temples in Mogan Mountain. Tianquan Zen Temple was originally built during the Southern Liang Dynasty Datong period (535-546), initially named Yongguang Monastery, and has undergone multiple reconstructions. It was burned down in 1941 during the war, leaving only the mountain gate and two ancient thousand-year-old ginkgo trees. These two ginkgo trees, one south and one north, lean on each other and are romantically called the "Couple Trees" by locals. The male tree reaches over 40 meters tall, and at its peak, its massive canopy covered half a basketball court. Every mid-November, the tree and ground are covered with golden ginkgo leaves, creating a charming scene with the ancient Zen temple gate, forming a picture full of Zen spirit. 🚙 Transportation: There is no particularly convenient or direct transportation; it is recommended to charter a car or drive yourself. Navigate to 📍 Tianquan Zen Temple, located on the west side of Mogan Mountain in Houwu Village, Kanshang. There is roadside parking in the village. 🗺️ Hiking route Check in at the thousand-year-old trees. If time permits, you can hike. Recommended: Dayangli Loop, a romantic love route about 8 kilometers long, mainly on ancient paths and stone roads, passing by the Couple Ginkgo Trees along the way.
