The Grand Buddha Ancient Temple

The Grand Buddha Ancient Temple is one of the five major Buddhist monasteries in Guangzhou. It was originally built during the Southern Han Dynasty, known then as Xinzang Temple; it was expanded in the Ming Dynasty and renamed Longzang Temple; it was destroyed by war in the early Qing Dynasty, and after reconstruction, it was named the Grand Buddha Temple because it houses three large Buddha statues. The pink kapok flowers at the entrance of the temple bloom splendidly. Strolling through the temple, with the incense smoke curling up and the Buddhist chants echoing, one's mood becomes calm without even noticing.
