The castle can be reached within 15 minutes in foot. I really love the castle as the mascot is so cute and it does small performances too! The castle is three-storey tall and there is also a garden to explore~ There is also a mountain view to enjoy. I love it so much that I’ve visited twice! 😂 I wish that I can visit more castles in the future ~

#greentrip #greentravel #japan With the recent news of Japan set to open up soon by October, there will soon be a lot who will be looking forward to visiting Japan soon. On our last Japan trip, we had mostly used the train, which is considered as one of the sustainable & eco-friendly ways of traveling around. Do you know that electric trains emit a lot less CO2 as compared to road & air travel? Traveling by train can be around 10 times less CO2 emissions as compared to traveling by air. Traveling by train is also more efficient as a lot more people can board a train than other public transportation such as buses & cars. In addition to these, it's also more enjoyable as you can admire the scenery while the train brings you to the different cities. We had bought the JR West Pass & used the trains to go to Kyoto, Nara and Hikone, where we then walked quite a fair bit around the different attractions, temples, parks and Hikone Castle. With the cool spring weather, walking while taking in the beautiful scenery is recommended, and of course a much more eco-friendly way of travel too. Just make sure that you travel light and have a water bottle/reusable bottle.

Hikone Castle Plum Grove

Besides the super popular Cherry Blossom 🌸 that most will travel to Japan around end March/early April, there's also the beautiful Plum/Ume Blossom in Japan which bloom around February/March period. Hikone Castle too has a plum grove in the castle area which usually blooms around mid to end March. We were there around early mid March, & the 400 over pink/white plum blossoms in the Plum Grove were almost near full bloom. It was so amazing and beautiful. Walking through the Plum Grove was simply a lovely and pretty sight, and definitely a must-visit. The weather was still cold as it rained before that and also it's only the beginning of spring. #createwithtrip #naturewonder #japan

Only a handful can speak English but those who don't, try their best to communicate with you.overall awesome

#campingfun Stunning views over the lake and a very peaceful and beautiful place. Somewhat inconsistent service and the beds were like sleeping on concrete blocks. Asked for an ice bucket and glasses and was told there’s a 3,000 yen corkage fee :-( The new spa is very nice although the “ice bath” outside the sauna was very warm so you don’t get that hot/cold refreshing feeling. They have a serious ventilation problem at dinner.overall this place is good for camping too

The enchanting place name 'Omi-Maiko' meets the most beautiful Lake Biwa at Tsukimi Beach

Tsukimi Beach is the most surprising accidental discovery, and travel is just so enchanting, with surprises often hidden in the unknown. It wasn't originally planned to come here, but it seems destined to arrive. Location: Tsukimi Beach in Lake Biwa National Park (bang). Transportation: If you're coming from Kansai, take the JR to JR Omi-Maiko, and it's a 2-minute walk towards Lake Biwa from the station. Experience: Enjoying the entirety of Lake Biwa alone, in peace and tranquility, is probably what they mean by 'a serene distance.' Niche: I deliberately included a live, all with sound, the clear lake water, the waves one after another, lapping against the fine sand on the shore, gentle and kind, really just empties your mind in an instant~ It turns out that compared to the sea, the lake is so shy~ Maybe because the weather is good, it also calms down to enjoy.

#cherryblossom2024 The complex has castle, plum orchard, garden, museum, (free) park including kids playground. All these with beautiful view of lake biwa attached to them. We visited last week and sakura flowers 🌺 had bloomed in one of the trees facing the castle.🏰 There was a long queue before entering the castle. Probably because it’s weekend and we had good time 🕰️ 🤩

The hotel's location deserves a solid 5-star rating, conveniently situated at 5-9 Daitocho, Hikone, Shiga. The cleanliness throughout the premises was impeccable, earning another 5 stars. The staff, although not perfect, were highly friendly, warranting a commendable 4.5-star rating. The value for money at AB Hotel Hikone was exceptional, earning a well-deserved 5 stars. The facilities provided were top-notch, and the breakfast offered was delightful, both securing 5-star ratings. One of the major highlights was the spacious single occupancy room, providing ample comfort. The bed, paired with a large LED TV, added a luxurious touch to the experience. Overall, AB Hotel Hikone exceeded my expectations, offering an excellent blend of comfort, cleanliness, and value for money. I highly recommend it to fellow travelers.

The Hikone Castle, although smaller in size than some of the other castles in Japan, is still quite big to me, and we took some time exploring the castle and the surroundings. As the castle is quite high up, we also need some time to climb up but it's all worth it, with the nice scenic view of Lake Biwa or Biwako, Japan's largest Freshwater Lake. There's also the cute Hikonyan, which is a mascot created in 2007 to mark the 400th anniversary of Hikone Castle. You can take a photo with the mascot standee which is in front of the castle. There's also the cute mascot toys and merchandise sold in Hikone too. Overall, for me, it's definitely worth a visit to at least one of the castles in Japan.
