A day hike at the Lion Rock

Lion Rock is a natural feature in the same-named Country Park, which serves as a rural border between the Kowloon Peninsula and the New Territories. From atop Lion Rock, you have the impression of being right in the heart of Hong Kong, as you can see the city in almost every direction. Lion Rock is one of Hong Kong's most popular hiking sites, both for locals and visitors, due to its unique landmark and location. At Lion Rock, you'll find a ridged hilltop that, from afar, resembles a sitting lion. It's densely forested, with several boulder stacks that create numerous clearings. Visitors are rewarded with complete views of Kowloon and Hong Kong Island to the south and southwest, as well as much of the New Territories East and West, from the lion's head, which stands at 495 meters. When the skies are clear and the air vision is good, the views from Lion Rock can be spectacular.
