Mtskheta - the ancient capital of Georgia

A 20-minute drive from Tbilisi is the small town of Mtskheta, which used to be the capital of Georgia and the largest city in the country. Now Mtskheta is a small but very cozy town with beautiful streets and temples. A particularly beautiful view of Mtskheta and the confluence of the Aragvi and Kura rivers opens from the ancient Jvari monastery, which stands on a hill above the city.
