Our group of eight rented a boat and rowed towards the center of the lake to see the morning mist. We had hoped to see the sunrise, but the weather wasn't cooperating; the clouds were too thick, and the sunlight couldn't penetrate the mist. However, the mist was still there, appearing from afar like a light veil covering the lake, hazy and tranquil. As the boat entered the mist, we couldn't see anything clearly anymore, as if entering a silent world. Seagulls flew across the lake, and we gently fed them. They approached without fear, the gentlest interaction of the trip. One of our group members came specifically for this morning mist. The driver also shared that he had picked up a traveler who flew in from out of town just to see the morning mist at Lugu Lake, and then flew back the same day. Such dedication made us appreciate the preciousness of this mist even more. Along the way, we also saw a locally famous plant—the water hyacinth. This aquatic plant, scientifically known as *Ottelia acuminata*, is unique to Lugu Lake and only grows in lakes with extremely pure water, serving as a natural "litmus test" for water quality. The water of Lugu Lake is crystal clear and drinkable. The boatman said that summer is the peak blooming season for the water hyacinth, when the lake surface is covered with tiny white flowers, like floating stars. We only saw a small portion this time, but it was already stunning. They floated on the lake, their petals pure white, like tiny fairies blooming in the mist, swaying quietly with the water. The morning mist of Lugu Lake is not a spectacular sight, but a quiet poetic experience. In the heart of the lake, in the mist, among the water hyacinth, time seems to slow down and soften.
