The ancient temple in the low-key small town | is also a filming location for Black Myth

| is also a filming location for Black Myth. Chongfu Temple is located in the ancient city of Shuozhou, Shanxi. It is said to have been first established by the local famous general Yuchi Jingde of the Tang Dynasty under imperial decree. It was rebuilt twice during the Liao and Jin Dynasties. The Jin Hailing King Wanyan Liang bestowed the name 'Chongfu Zen Temple'. Since then, it has been renovated and expanded in successive dynasties. The temple now covers a vast area and basically retains the scale of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Among them, the Amitabha Hall and the Guanyin Hall are remnants of Jin Dynasty architecture, preserving five Jin Dynasty art treasures: glazed tiles on the roof, plaques, doors and windows, Buddha statue halos, and murals. These are extremely precious, making it a filming location for Black Myth: Wukong in this unknown small town. Shuocheng District, where the old city of Shuozhou is located, is at the intersection of the Lüliang Mountains, the Yellow River, and the Inner Mongolia Plateau. In ancient times, it was always a frontline stronghold where the Central Plains dynasties and nomadic peoples competed. However, today, due to its remote location and not being on the main high-speed rail and highway routes connecting north and south Shanxi, it has lost its past glory. This little-known small town has now been chosen as one of the filming locations for Black Myth: Wukong because of Chongfu Temple. The largest and oldest hall in Chongfu Temple is the Amitabha Hall, located in the fourth courtyard of the temple. This is one of the temple scenes used in Black Myth: Wukong. This outstanding large single building from the Jin Dynasty has seven bays, a front width of more than 40 meters, and a total height of 21 meters. It overlooks many smaller buildings from later periods like a mountain. The flying eaves at the four corners of the hall are both robust and dynamic, creating a majestic and ancient aura for the Buddha hall, a feature prominently highlighted in the game. Two other astonishing places in Chongfu Temple require close inspection. One is the intricately carved wooden lattice windows on the hall doors, featuring as many as 15 different patterns, including rhombus flowers, lotus flowers, and ancient coins, arranged neatly and intricately connected, a masterpiece of Jin Dynasty craftsmanship. The other is the 'Three Saints of the West' and four Bodhisattvas enshrined in the hall. The seven Buddha statues are arranged in an orderly manner, with three giant leaves behind the main Buddha, exquisitely carved and woven, complementing the light filtering through the lattice windows. The statues are original Jin Dynasty sculptures, repainted in the Ming Dynasty, with a body shape full of ancient charm.
