2024 Susukino Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
Susukino, one of Japan's three major entertainment districts.
Susukino is famous for the Nikka Whisky sign. Tourists from both Japan and abroad visit Susukino at night to see the flashy neon lights. It's about a 20-minute walk from Sapporo Station, and the Nikka Whisky sign is right outside the Susukino Station exit on the Namboku Subway Line, so keep that in mind if you plan to visit. The ramen you eat to cap off the night is also fantastic. Along with Tokyo's Kabukicho and Fukuoka's Nakasu, Susukino is considered one of Japan's top three entertainment districts and is a must-see spot in Sapporo.

Susukino, Sapporo’s Vibrant District ✨
#citystroll
A stroll through Susukino, Sapporo’s vibrant entertainment district, is a unique way to experience the lively urban vibe of the city. Known for its nightlife, neon lights, and countless dining options.
Start your walk at Susukino Crossing, the heart of the area, where large billboards and bright signs light up the streets. It's one of Japan’s most famous neon districts, similar to Tokyo’s Shibuya or Osaka’s Dotonbori.
As you walk through, you'll find a wide variety of restaurants and izakayas (Japanese pubs). Susukino is famous for ramen, especially Sapporo's signature miso ramen, so stopping by one of the many ramen shops is a must. The area is also known for fresh seafood and local Hokkaido cuisine.
Explore the Tanukikoji Shopping Arcade, a covered street that has been a popular shopping spot for over a century. With souvenir shops, cafes, and boutiques, it offers a mix of modern and traditional items.

Delicious Jingisukan in Susukino
This restaurant has a concept of being like a 'family-run Jingisukan place,' but it's even more casual than that! The staff are super energetic, and we were laughing the whole time.
The restaurant was created by 'Ramen Shin' and Tokyo's 'Yakiniku Hormone Bonzu,' which is how it got its name. Makes sense.
So, not only can you enjoy fresh meat, but you can also have ramen, making it a natural flow to finish your meal with ramen.
This ramen is Yukgaejang Ramen served in a stone pot. It's on the smaller side, so if you're a man with a big appetite, you might want to order one for yourself.
For Hokkaido locals, Jingisukan is a home-cooked dish. So, I haven't eaten it much at restaurants in Hokkaido, but they have rare cuts on the menu, and the staff cook it for you, so both tourists and locals can enjoy it.
Above all, the meat eaten with the magical salt instead of sauce is incredibly delicious! This alone makes it a different Jingisukan experience from home.
They recommend sprinkling twice as much magical salt on the vinegar sauce as you think is too much. It's hilarious (lol).
But really, the sauce was so delicious that I highly recommend it.

Sapporo's Susukino area Udon restaurant 'Udon no Soumaya'
Sapporo Udon Restaurant~ In Sapporo, where people usually eat soup curry, sushi, or kaisendon, there's a great udon restaurant with a Korean menu available. It's a global restaurant loved by both locals and travelers. The price is also reasonable, with two bowls of udon costing around 15,000 KRW. If you're craving udon in Sapporo, this is the place to go! LOL

Susukino Market is located on the first floor of Address Zero, the birthplace of Susukino. It's located in Susukino, where there are no supermarkets nearby.
A deep Susuki spot with a strong smell of the good old Showa era.
I thought there would be old-fashioned pub snacks, but there are also stylish Italian restaurants, coffee shops, and even bars

Sapporo Winter Festival 2023
Winter Festival 2023
It was the 1st time for me. The winter wonderland was amazingly beautiful.
We went to the Susukino site for the ice cravings; there were plenty to see, There were many ice cravings like the smooth craved dragon, the beautiful phoenix and the sword fish out of the water. But I like the King Crab trap in ice the best.
The ice sculptures were craved with great skill and talents. The skilled masters have spent time and hardwork for their displays.
In fact, the winter festival was halted for 3 years due to the pandemic. It was just a great timing for a wonderful getaway.
I will like to come back again.#winter festival
