Weekend trip from Hangzhou to Suzhou and Wuxi The seagulls at Yuantouzhu are back Here’s the guide: 💫 We drove ourselves, leaving after work on Friday. It took about 2 hours to get to Wuxi at a relaxed pace. We stayed near the city center at Houju, which was quite cost-effective. Early the next morning, we first went to Huishan Ancient Town, then around 1:30 PM headed to Yuantouzhu. 💫 We had done some research in advance and knew there would be no parking at Chongshan Gate, so we parked at the State Grid parking lot, which had plenty of spaces and was cheap. Then we biked about 10 minutes to Dushan Gate. Upon entering, we saw the Metasequoia forest but didn’t linger and went straight to the dock to queue (ps: tickets bought online the day before were 10 yuan cheaper, and no ID was needed). 💫 The queue took about 30-40 minutes. We boarded the boat around 3 PM, which was quite fast. The upper deck was full of bugs, so better not open your mouth. We didn’t buy any food because we thought the seagulls would be full in the afternoon. If you want to feed the seagulls, it’s recommended to bring your own dry snacks, as they eat more when hungry in the morning. 💫 The main goal was to watch the sunset.
