Matterhorn, Switzerland Photo Spots + Guide

Here is our guide from last year’s National Day trip to Switzerland. This year, we plan to drive to see the Matterhorn, so we’re directly copying the homework! 🚗 Transportation — Drive onto the train Driving from Interlaken or Spiez to Zermatt, on the Kandersteg–Goppenstein route, you need to drive your car onto the train. Monday to Thursday costs CHF 28 per car, Fridays, weekends, and holidays cost CHF 31 per car. If there are many cars, you need to queue at the gate and follow the traffic flow. The whole process is quite smooth. 📍 Zermatt 🚗 Driving: Zermatt is a car-free town! Park your car at Matterhorn Terminal Tasch. We parked for 30 hours, costing CHF 32. 🛤️ Transfer to train: Round trip CHF 8.6 per person (half-price card). 📷 Free photo spots in Zermatt Sunlit peak: Kirchbrucke Bridge, where you can shoot the stream and the Matterhorn; Blue hour: Zermatt Matterhorn viewpoint, offering a bird’s-eye view of the town; 🚉 Matterhorn Cogwheel Train The yellow gate opposite the train station is the cogwheel train station. If it’s crowded, you need to queue. Round trip CHF 57 per person (half-price card). It’s recommended to first take the train to the last stop to see the Matterhorn, then hike or take the train to the second-to-last stop, Riffelsee, to see the reflection of the Matterhorn. ⚠️ Sit on the right side facing forward when going uphill to see the Matterhorn the entire way! ⚠️ Must-get-off stations: Rotenboden (to photograph the lake reflection) / Gornergrat (final stop for panoramic shots)
