Fuding travel guide and discussion

Who would have thought! People think you have to go to Inner Mongolia to see grasslands and to Sanya to see the sea—then they discover this island, with blue waves crashing on reefs on the left and wind-swept grasslands with cattle and sheep on the right. National Geographic China even praises it as the "most beautiful island," this setup is simply unfair✨ It is—Yushan Island, Fujian! A magical secret reachable by high-speed rail🏝️ Don’t be fooled by the word "island," this is basically a grassland transported onto the sea! First, take the high-speed train to Fuding Station, then transfer to a 1-hour bus ride plus a 20-minute ferry to the island. The moment you arrive, you’ll be stunned: 3,000 acres of alpine meadows spread across a 500-meter mountain top, with two lakes like blue sapphires embedded in a green carpet. Look up to see seagulls flying by, look down to see rolling meadows—this breathtaking "mountain and sea in one frame" scene will blow up your social media with just your phone’s camera📸 🌿 Day 1: Wild on the grassland, pretending to be "Hulunbuir on the sea" Head straight to Tianhu Scenic Area, rent a small electric scooter and ride along the meadow road. The wind carries the salty sea scent to your face, even better than driving a convertible! Find a quiet lawn to lie down, watch clouds slowly drift in the sky, hear cattle and sheep in the distance, and you might think you’ve traveled to Inner Mongolia—until the sound of waves reminds you: oh, I’m still by the sea! In the evening, sit by the lake to shoot the sunset, the setting sun dyes the water golden red, even the shadows turn gentle. 🐚 Day 2: Fishing village tide chasing, unlocking island life vibes Wake up early to watch the sunrise at Dongjiao Village pier, fishing boats return bathed in dawn light, fishermen carry freshly caught seafood ashore. In the morning, step on the sand at Moon Bay, the beach is as fine and soft as crushed jade, the rock formations shaped uniquely by the waves, every photo taken on the rocks looks like a naturally filtered seaside masterpiece. In the afternoon, join locals to chase the tide, dig for clams, catch little crabs, and enjoy the full joy of wading and playing in the sand! 🍜 Day 3: Savor the food slowly, taste the freshness of the sea · Seafood noodles: freshly caught shrimp and crab thrown into the noodle pot, the broth is so fresh it could swallow your tongue · Fish pot pancakes: corn pancakes soaked in seafood broth, crispy outside and soft inside · Seaweed buns: filled with local special seaweed, one bite and you can’t stop 🚨 Lazy traveler’s pitfall avoidance guide: 1️⃣ Transportation: Buy ferry tickets in advance on the "Yushan Island Tourism" WeChat official account, be sure to book early during peak season (July-August)! 2️⃣ Outfit: White long dress with Martin boots for a cool grassland look, floral dress with a straw hat for a gentle seaside vibe 3️⃣ Accommodation: Choose a fisherman's homestay in Zao’ao Village, about 150 RMB per person for a sea view room, fall asleep listening to the waves at night 4️⃣ Sun protection: The grassland is open with no shade, wear a hat + sunglasses + sunscreen as a three-piece set! No need to travel between two places, on Yushan Island you can have the vastness of grasslands and the romance of the sea at the same time. If you don’t go soon, the influencers will discover it first!🌊

When the warm breeze of early summer dispels the late spring heat, the vast mountains of Guishan in Pingyang, southern Zhejiang, quietly light up with millions of gardenia blossoms. Amid the verdant hills, pure white flowers layer upon layer adorn the branches, blanketing the mountains like snow on green peaks. Locals affectionately call it the "June Snow Mountain." The gentle breeze passes through the forest, carrying the crisp and sweet fragrance of the flowers, filling the entire valley. Without the flamboyance of a dense flower sea, it offers a unique, elegant, and healing mountain charm. This place hides Wenzhou’s most exclusive early summer romance—green mountains, white flowers like snow, and a subtle fragrance drifting in the air—making it a perfect secret spot to escape urban noise and immerse yourself in the gentle embrace of early summer. 1. Geography and Cultural Background The Pingyang Guishan Gardenia Flower Sea is located in the Guishan area of Mabu Town, Pingyang County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is developed on tens of thousands of acres of wild mountains and is the largest natural gardenia planting and viewing base in southern Zhejiang, covering over 15,000 acres. Nestled among mountains and surrounded by hills, the area boasts lush forest vegetation and an excellent ecological environment. The mild Jiangnan climate nurtures mountains full of gardenias that bloom on schedule every early summer, creating a unique wild gardenia landscape. Unlike carefully crafted popular flower seas, the Guishan Gardenia Flower Sea retains the original mountain texture, combining ecological value with local heritage. Once barren mountains, now transformed into a vast floral realm, it hosts a dedicated "Gardenia Flower Culture Festival" based on the distinctive yellow gardenia crop, developing a unique cultural tourism chain featuring flower viewing, agricultural picking, and local experiences. Yellow gardenia has ornamental, medicinal, and economic value; its flowers bloom for viewing and later bear abundant fruit. It is a highly representative rural ecological symbol of Pingyang, embodying the most simple and elegant mountain poetry of early summer in Jiangnan. 2. Core Travel Guide [Best Time Window] 1. Core Blooming Period: Late May to mid-late June is the best viewing period of the year. The peak bloom is from early to mid-June, with dense, full flowers, flawless white petals, and upright, spread-out flower shapes, creating a pure white sea of flowers that fills the mountains. The bloom gradually ends by late June, with flowers slowly fading. 2. Daily Golden Hours: Early morning from 6:30 to 9:00, when the mountain mist lingers and gardenia petals are covered with sparkling morning dew, the fragrance is freshest and purest, and the mountain is quiet and empty—ideal for photography and fresh air. Evening from 17:00 to 19:00, when the sunset’s soft light bathes the forest, white flowers glow warmly, creating a gentle and healing atmosphere while avoiding daytime heat and crowds. Midday from 10:30 to 15:00 has strong light and higher temperatures, causing flowers to wilt, so it is not recommended for photography or visiting. 3. Opening Status: This natural mountain flower sea is open all day for free with no closing restrictions, suitable for half-day light hiking and short, off-the-beaten-path trips. [Transportation Guide] 1. Self-driving (preferred): Most convenient from Wenzhou and Pingyang surroundings. Navigate to "Pingyang Mabu Guishan Gardenia Flower Sea." From Wenzhou city, take Shenhai Expressway to Pingyang Interchange, then G104 National Road and Kunya Road directly to the scenic area, about 1 hour total. From Pingyang county seat, it’s only a 20-minute drive. Mountain roads are smooth and accessible for small vehicles. The scenic area has simple parking, but spaces are limited during holidays, so off-peak travel is recommended. 2. Public Transport: Take the township bus from Pingyang county seat to Mabu Town, then a 10-minute taxi ride to the foot of the flower sea. Suitable for solo light travelers and cost-effective. 3. Travel Tips: Mountain paths are narrow, some sections cannot accommodate two vehicles side by side. Slow down and drive cautiously when passing. [Ticket Policy] · The entire gardenia flower sea is a natural rural landscape, open all day for free with no tickets or reservations required. · No mandatory spending; hiking, flower viewing, and scenic platform visits are all free. · Optional paid activities include picking local agricultural products and cultural experiences during the bloom period. [Core Highlights & Photo Spots] 1. Panoramic Viewing Platform of the 15,000-acre Mountain (must-visit) Climb to the mountain’s viewing highland to overlook the entire 15,000-acre gardenia flower sea, with green mountains as the base and white flowers as decoration. The continuous mountain ridges unfold layer by layer, capturing the magnificent "June Snow Mountain" scenery. Distant mountains appear dark green, nearby flowers look like snow, creating a layered landscape full of poetic charm. Aerial photography unlocks panoramic wild mountain shots, making it the core photo spot of the flower sea. 2. Mountain Flower Sea Trail Walk slowly along the forest trail built along the mountain, winding through dense gardenia bushes with branches hanging low and flowers within reach. Immerse yourself in the pure white flower sea, surrounded by greenery and fragrant air. Perfect for close-up portraits and flower detail shots with a clean, pure background, avoiding commercial clutter. 3. Morning Dew Mist Niche Spot An exclusive early morning scene with mist wrapping the mountain waist, gardenia flowers covered in dew appear pure and translucent, with green leaves highlighting the white flowers. The soft light and quiet mountain create a fresh atmosphere. Every shot captures the cool, healing Jiangnan mountain vibe, making it a niche, high-end photo spot. 4. Mountain Terraced Flower Fields The flower sea is distributed terraced along the hillside, with varying heights and densities. Unlike flat flower seas, the rolling mountains combined with large patches of white flowers create a three-dimensional, full picture with natural compositional beauty. [Outfit & Atmosphere Keywords] 1. Outfit Recommendations: Match the elegant mountain tone with white, cream, light mint green, or pale blue solid-color long dresses and simple casual wear. Clean and gentle styles perfectly complement the pure white gardenias and green forest, highlighting a fresh and healing vibe. Avoid bright reds, purples, or dark heavy clothing that disrupt the mountain’s elegant atmosphere. Pair with straw bags, light-colored hair accessories, or transparent umbrellas to double the ambiance. 2. Atmosphere Keywords: Jiangnan early summer, mountain joy, pure white snow scene, cool and healing, subtle fragrance, gentle forest, niche poetic. 3. Photography Tips: Use morning mist and dew for clear, atmospheric shots; side backlighting to highlight petal texture and whiteness; low-angle shots to include the flower sea and distant green mountains; trail depth composition for immersive forest flower viewing scenes. 3. Secret Gems 1. Untouched Niche Flower Slope: At the back mountain waist of the flower sea, rarely visited by tourists, the flower bushes are denser and more natural without human trimming. The endless pure white flower sea offers exclusive quiet mountain scenery and perfect empty landscape shots. 2. Early Summer Limited Picking Experience: After the bloom ends, gardenias start to bear fruit, and local loquats and peaches ripen in the mountains. Experience natural mountain picking to enjoy both flower viewing and fruit picking. 3. Evening Fragrant Breeze: Cool mountain air in the evening with a breeze through the forest carries the subtle fragrance of gardenias, refreshing and healing. Ideal for slow walks and immersive early summer mountain calm, far from city noise. 4. Nearby Niche Attractions: After visiting, you can stop by lesser-known spots near the Zhejiang-Fujian border like the ancient city wall of Fen Shui Guan and Qinglian Temple, linking a day of light hiking and niche routes to enrich your trip. 4. Adventurer’s Oath (Notes) 1. Strict Bloom Period Control: Gardenia bloom lasts only about one and a half months, with mid-June as the best viewing time. Missing it means waiting another year, so plan ahead and avoid peak times. 2. Mountain Safety: Trails can be slippery and rugged after rain. Walk carefully and slowly. Stay on marked paths and do not climb wild slopes or enter deep mountains alone. 3. Protect the Flower Sea: Gardenias are an economic crop for farmers. Do not pick flowers, trample branches, or damage plants. Enjoy flowers responsibly and protect the vast mountain flower sea. 4. Outfit and Travel Suitability: Many mountain hiking sections require comfortable, slip-resistant flat shoes or sneakers. Early summer forests have many mosquitoes; bring insect repellent and anti-itch supplies. 5. Sun and Heat Protection: Early summer mountain UV rays are strong, and midday temperatures are high. Take sun protection measures, carry drinking water and some snacks to avoid heatstroke and dehydration. 6. Off-Peak Tips: Weekends and holidays are crowded with limited parking and busy trails. Choose weekdays or early mornings for a better experience.

In Ningde, Mount Taimu Scenic Area is never quite the same mountain twice. At sunrise, its granite peaks emerge from a sea of clouds, suspended between earth and sky. By afternoon, sunlight carves sharp shadows across cliffs and stone formations. When rain arrives, mist drifts through the valleys, softening every outline until the mountain resembles a traditional ink painting. And after the storm passes, the clouds part slowly, revealing layers of ridges stretching toward the horizon. To spend time here is to watch a landscape continually reinvent itself. The mountain is shaped not only by rock and forest, but by light, weather, and atmosphere. Clouds gather and dissolve. Sunlight appears and disappears. Every hour redraws the scenery. Among ancient pines, winding paths, and weathered stone pinnacles, there is a feeling that the mountain is quietly performing for those willing to wait. No single photograph can define it; each image becomes only one portrait among countless possibilities. 📍 Location: Mount Taimu Scenic Area 🏔️ Region: Ningde, Fujian Province ✨ Known for: Granite peaks, sea of clouds, dramatic weather, coastal mountain landscapes 📸 Highlights: Sunrise cloud seas, mist-filled valleys, rock formations, changing light conditions 🌅 Best moment: Dawn after rainfall, when clouds weave between the peaks and the mountain feels closest to legend Some mountains have a single famous view. Mount Taimu offers a thousand—painted anew by every sunrise, every rainstorm, and every drifting cloud. ☁️⛰️✨

Sea Fairyland Mount Taimu⛰️ Lazy Pain-Free Hiking Caregiver-Level Guide I've wanted to visit Mount Taimu for a long time, but since I have low blood sugar and am not good at hiking, I found that many lazy guides miss a lot of the best spots. I finally summarized a route with the least climbing and the most photogenic views, requiring minimal effort. I, who am bad at hiking, spent 6 hours without feeling tired at all. Suitable for elderly and children. 【Pain-Free Hiking Facilities】 Coach Bus 🚍|Minibus 🚌|Elevator 🛗|Rail Car 🚃 Highly recommend taking the rail car (not sure why many guides don’t mention it). This was the best value for money at Mount Taimu. It feels like riding a small train flying through the air. The track is steep, giving a slow-motion roller coaster vibe. 【Caregiver-Level Route】 1️⃣ Going Up Tourist Distribution Center (if driving, recommend arriving at Mount Taimu South Gate; the bus is 25 yuan cheaper than from the distribution center) Take the coach bus 🚍 → directly to Couples Peak Square → get off and transfer to minibus 🚌 → get off and take the 5 yuan sightseeing car 🚗 to [Jiuli Lake] 2️⃣ High Altitude Tour Xiangshan Temple → Jiuli Lake → take the 30 yuan rail car up the mountain 🚠 → Baiyun Temple → Fuding’s highest peak This part requires almost no climbing. ⚠️ Note the rail car runs every 40 minutes. It’s recommended to check the ticket office at Jiuli Lake first to see how long the wait is. If it’s long, feel free to take your time photographing Jiuli Lake, then head to the rail car. 3️⃣ Return the Same Way After enjoying the panoramic mountain view at the top, head down by rail car back to Jiuli Lake, then take the sightseeing car directly to the Hanging Copper Hall. 4️⃣ Explore Caves and Sea Views Five Hundred Arhats Hall → Elevator → Hanging Copper Hall → One Line Sky → Sea View Walkway This route is also almost effortless, mostly downhill and flat paths. (I didn’t enter One Line Sky due to long queues; if you’re interested in cave exploration, you can go inside, but it’s a bit difficult.) 5️⃣ Slowly Descend Sea View Walkway → Baolong Pond → Guoxing Temple → Longtan Lake → Lengjia Pagoda → Couples Peak Square → take the bus down 【🏠 Accommodation】 I stayed at Nami Time Camp next to the South Gate. It’s a 3-minute walk to the South Gate after breakfast, and going up early means fewer tourists. Staying in a treehouse is quite special. Pet-friendly 🐕, with a large lawn where dogs can run freely (I regret not bringing my dog). The lawn can be used for BBQs and hotpot. The room’s terrace offers a direct view of Mount Taimu. Accommodations 🏨 Mountain Luyun Nami Time Camp Only a 4-minute walk to the South Gate of Mount Taimu, rooms have views of Mount Taimu, delicious breakfast, and enough energy to climb the mountain. 🏨 Banshan Inn Located in the core scenic area of Mount Taimu, the hotel closest to the parking lot, themed around wild white tea, a homestay-style resort hotel. 🏨 Junlin Yuhu Resort Hotel (Mount Taimu Branch) Excellent location, very close to the main scenic area, mountain views, butler service, free parking, Zen style. 🏨 Zai Shanhai Homestay (Mount Taimu Niulanggang Scenic Area Branch) Enjoy an infinity pool, panoramic sea and beach views, sand digging, sunrise and sunset, beach bar, duplex loft rooms.

Remember the departure times for each attraction. 2️⃣ Prepare non-slip hiking shoes and children’s trekking poles for kids, as some trails have steps, making climbing easier. 3️⃣ Bring warm water, snacks, and fruit. Food prices inside the park are a bit high, so keep kids energized anytime. 4️⃣ Lingfeng night view is dimly lit. Bring a portable flashlight for kids. Parents should supervise closely and avoid isolated paths. 5️⃣ There are many mosquitoes on the mountain. Bring child-safe insect repellent and take protective measures.

About 1000 meters long, pitch dark and winding inside, requiring hands and feet to navigate. Large caves lead into smaller ones, with the narrowest parts requiring squeezing through. Extremely fun but not recommended for those with mobility issues. Two-day In-depth Tour (including sunrise) Day 1: Couple Peaks Square → Guoxing Temple → Longtan Lake → Wulonggang Scenic Area (Skyline One Line, Immortal Cave) → Stay at mountain guesthouse Day 2: Fuding Peak Sunrise Viewing → Baiyun Temple → Jiuli Lake → Xiangshan Temple → Xianqiao Boardwalk → Hulu Cave → Descend Tips: · Fuding Peak is the highest peak of Mount Tailao (917 meters), offering excellent sunrise views. · Wulonggang route is steep and dangerous; be cautious on rainy days. Gear Recommendations · Non-slip sports shoes: Mountain paths have many stone steps and some steep sections. · Flashlight: Essential for cave exploration; no lighting inside, some areas require crawling while holding the flashlight. · Snacks and water: Prices on the mountain are high (mineral water starts at 5 RMB), so bring your own. · Jacket: It can be cool on the mountain top in the early morning and evening. · Student ID: Half-price tickets are very cost-effective. Avoid Pitfalls 1. Don’t stay on the mountain unless watching the sunrise: Conditions are basic, many insects, and you have to sleep early. 2. Don’t explore caves on rainy days: Slippery and dangerous inside, some One Line Sky areas may flood. 3. Descend early: The last scenic area bus back is around 4:30-5:00 PM; missing it means you must hire a car. 4. Avoid trendy internet-famous restaurants: The best local snacks are in old alleys. 5. One Line Sky queues: On holidays, arrive right at 7:00 AM opening to avoid hour-long waits. Personal Experience The greatest charm of Mount Tailao lies in "playing while climbing"—it’s not just about climbing steps but wandering among strange peaks and rocks and exploring deep caves. Coming out of Hulu Cave drenched in sweat brings a huge sense of accomplishment. If the weather is good, the reflections on Jiuli Lake and the sea of clouds at the summit are definitely worth the ticket price. It’s recommended to spend at least a day and a half to slowly absorb the spiritual aura of this "Fairyland on the Sea."

Fujian Xiapu truly lives up to being a photographer's paradise📷✨ The first visit left me amazed by the dreamlike mudflat scenery here! 🌅【Sunrise Check-in Spot】 📍Huazhu Village (Sansha Town, Xiapu County, Ningde City) This is the officially recognized "Most Beautiful Sunrise Viewing Spot in China"! You need to arrive by 5 AM to secure a spot, watching the sun rise from the sea horizon, with golden sunlight shining on the mudflats—absolutely breathtaking😭 🌇【Best Sunset Viewpoint】 📍Dongbi Village (Sansha Town, Xiapu County) Recommended to come between 4-5 PM, the orange-red sunset reflects on the sea, combined with fishermen at work, every shot looks like a masterpiece! Especially the scene of five egrets standing in the mangroves, the atmosphere is perfect~ 🎨【Colorful Mudflats】 📍Xiaohao Beach (Songgang Street, Xiapu County) Come during the afternoon low tide! The mudflats display oil painting-like colorful hues, every photo is a hit! It’s recommended to bring a tripod and telephoto lens~ 🏝【Paradise on Earth】 📍Yushan Island (Sansha Town, Xiapu County) You can take a boat to get there~ The island has tens of thousands of acres of meadows swaying in the wind, like being in New Zealand! On clear days, you can even see the "Blue Tears" phenomenon🌌 💡Tips: 1️⃣ Best season: April to November 2️⃣ Transportation: Self-driving or chartering a car is more convenient 3️⃣ Accommodation: Dongbi Village guesthouses range from 300-800 RMB, staying one night is recommended Prices here are not high, and the seafood is super delicious🦞 You can have a great time with just about 1,000 RMB per person for three days and two nights!

Seizing the good weekend weather, I dragged my family out for some training. Since we live in the west of the city, we rarely go to Xianghu Lake. Only now did I realize, this place is really no worse than West Lake! · Especially on such a great weekend, parking here is still free. The mountains surrounding Xianghu Lake aren't very high, very friendly for beginners~ At the summit, you can overlook Xianghu Lake and the distant city skyscrapers. At this moment, you really fall in love with this city again and again. · 👇Sharing this 3.5km light hiking route: Laohudong Village Entrance ➠ Lianhua Ancient Temple ➠ Laohudong Mountain 🔚 Return the same way down ⏰ Total time for hiking + resting + taking photos is 2 hours, suitable for people with normal fitness. · ⛰️ ▪️The path from the village to Lianhua Ancient Temple has steps and is easy to walk, suitable for elderly and children. ▪️After praying and resting in the temple, continue to climb the mountain from the temple’s hiking entrance (if you can’t find the entrance, ask someone; the pagoda is under repair, and the outside temple entrance is closed). ▪️The section from Lianhua Temple to Laohudong gradually becomes steeper; here you can check in at the stone tiger, rest, then climb to the summit. ▪️From here on, it is not recommended for elderly to continue, as the slope is steep and much of the path is natural soil and rocks, which is quite fun for young hikers. ▪️The first peak offers a view overlooking Xianghu Lake and the temple pagoda, perfect for watching the sunset. ▪️After resting, continue up the left mountain path; the second peak has an even wider view. ▪️Of course, you can also continue left to Dapanshan or right to Huamei Mountain. · 👆Descend at any time according to your own physical condition. · 🅿️For driving, navigate to "Laohudong Visitor Center Ground Parking Lot"; weekend parking spots are sufficient based on actual experience. 🚖For taxis, just navigate to "Laohudong Farmhouse Restaurant." 💡For those lazier than me, you can directly navigate to "Lianhua Ancient Temple," which has a parking lot inside the temple; starting the climb here is easier, but the mountain road is narrow and prone to traffic jams.

If Fujian's cuisine is seafood, it will have a place. After all, Fujian is close to the sea and seafood is very much. Fuding City is very close to the sea. The seafood here is fresh and delicious, because it is very close to Wenzhou, Zhejiang. In the evening, the seafood stalls were full of fun, and many Zhejiang came over to eat seafood. The most lively thing about travel is the food. The most famous here is white tea. The tea is paired with prawns and it is a dish. The crab meat is delicious. You should taste the local food every time you go, it is good. Tips: 1. Fuding Seafood Street is very lively at night, the fish are all on the spot, so choose a fresher fish. The seafood shop here is very famous. 2. Be careful when eating fish, and some fish bones are fine.

Ningde, the northeastern gateway of Fujian. The mountains are here, and the sea is here too. "Symphony of mountains and seas, blessings gather in Ningde" is not just a slogan; it is the city's foundation. Start at Taimu Mountain, the "Immortal Capital on the Sea," where the stones can "speak." The peaks are perilous, the stones are strange, and the caves are secluded. There is a suspended bronze hall here, wedged between two peaks, hanging in mid-air. It was cast from 150 tons of pure copper in a furnace at over 1,000 degrees. Descend the mountain to find Yangjiaxi Maple and Banyan Park, nicknamed "China's top spot for staged photography." The 800-year-old Banyan King is real, the light is real, the smoke is fanned by hand, and the cows and geese are just "on the clock." The old farmer has been walking back and forth here for over a decade—he knows the angles better than the photographers. You might call it staged, but that picture of the farmer leading the ox in the textbooks came from right here. Filters can deceive, but an 800-year-old banyan tree cannot. It stands there, the light arrives, and the show begins. Finish your trip at the Xiapu County Museum. From ceramics to calligraphy and paintings, and from cold weapons to She ethnic culture, every exhibit carries a profound history. Mountains are solidified seas, and the sea is flowing mountains. Ningde turns the mountains and seas into a play. A symphony of mountains and seas, blessings gather in Ningde—come, and you are the protagonist.

If you're traveling to Fuzhou and looking for a Min cuisine restaurant that hits the mark on both atmosphere and flavor, Sanshengshi is a must-visit. Rooted in the ancient courtyards of Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, this restaurant is housed in a renovated century-old official residence. With its white walls, dark tiles, and winding corridors, stepping through the door feels like entering a Min-style garden—a tranquil escape perfect for hosting out-of-town friends, family gatherings, or intimate dates. The entire ancient house features a five-section hall layout, with pavilions and greenery scattered throughout. The gentle play of light and shadow makes every corner perfect for photos. The restaurant also offers a She ethnic costume experience, allowing you to take photos in the courtyard corridors after your meal for a fully immersive, traditional vibe. If you're lucky, you might even catch a performance of intangible cultural heritage, letting you savor Min cuisine while experiencing local folk culture—an immersive way to understand the vibrant essence of Fuzhou. Specializing in authentic Fujian fusion cuisine, the restaurant brings together flavors from eastern, western, southern, and northern Fujian on a single table, with most ingredients sourced directly from their origins across the province. The signature Buddha Jumps Over the Wall is a must-order; packed with premium ingredients like sea cucumber, abalone, and fish maw, the slow-simmered broth is rich, savory, and smooth—a true hallmark of Min cuisine. There are many other authentic specialties worth trying: the Fuding taro pot is powdery and flavorful, with pork belly fat seeping into the taro for a dense, fragrant bite; the Shanghang Huai pork soup is prepared simply, seasoned only with salt to release the natural sweetness of the meat—fresh but not bland; the classic lychee pork is perfectly sweet and sour, a flavor locals never tire of; and the Shunchang stuffed egg holds a delightful surprise inside, offering a unique texture and a wonderful meaning. The Xiapu seafood is fresh and lively, with oysters, fish dumplings, and large yellow croaker letting you taste the sweetness of the tidal flats in every bite. The dishes are plated with exquisite care, balancing aesthetics with flavor, and the portions are generous. The main dining hall is elegant, while the private rooms offer great privacy and can even be simply decorated for free—making them perfect for birthday banquets, business dinners, or family gatherings. The service is attentive and thoughtful, with a comfortable pace for serving dishes, ideal for leisurely dining and conversation. Located right in the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys area, it's just a short walk after exploring the ancient lanes. After your meal, you can step out and continue strolling through the old streets or visit the famous "Heart Tree," making for a perfectly planned itinerary. Unlike the fast-food style eateries in tourist areas, Sanshengshi is better suited for slowing down, enjoying an authentic Min meal, and truly experiencing the charm of the cuisine itself. When in Fuzhou, don't just rush through the tourist spots. Sitting in a century-old courtyard, accompanied by a gentle breeze, and savoring a feast of Fujian flavors—that is the unique romance of Fuzhou.

Chef Jason, with his philosophy of "using Western elements for Chinese purposes, and ancient elements for modern use; combining Chinese and Western styles, and integrating the North and South," has moved north to open LingYun, following the highly sought-after LingLong in Shanghai. When I visited, it was already packed. LingYun is located in the former ancestral home of Consort Jin of the Qing Dynasty, imbuing the dining experience with a subtle cultural atmosphere reminiscent of a late Qing residence. The National Palace Museum in Taipei houses Consort Jin's heirloom jade cabbage, which served as Jason's muse. He transformed the beauty of this antique into the squid paste and "jade pendant" of high-mountain dragon tea on the plate. The opening tea, a blend of Fuding Shoumei and Anhui Yudie Baimei, with its warm almond aroma, served as the prelude to the entire meal. Thai wrinkled lemon and lemon verbena awakened the crisp sweetness of Zhoushan flower shrimp. The two-way preparation of garlic red meat and Sichuan spicy meat and shrimp filling cleverly concealed between the thin skin and the shrimp filling. Rémi Leroy's zero-sugar, small-farmer champagne was served throughout, its salty, mineral notes providing a satisfying transition. The pickled pepper jellyfish was a delightful surprise: green tomatoes complemented the crisp, delicate jellyfish, topped with a layer of pickled pepper shaved ice, creating a harmonious balance between the icy, tangy, and spicy flavors and the crunchy base. Alzinger's white pepper spice complemented the pungent pickled peppers, while pear notes softened the palate. The Tai Chi-shaped ink-wash crab soup was a variation of LingLong's classic version. Simmered for six hours with pork bones, old chicken, and beef shank, the soup was topped with steamed egg white with sea cucumber, accompanied by nine-year-old lily bulbs and crab meat. Each spoonful offered a delightful experience of the collagen, the crab's freshness, and the delicate elegance of the lily bulbs. From Arnot-Roberts Moric, a renowned rosé producer from California, to a Balaton Riesling-Fullmant blend, and then to a Beaune Baifur Ningxia Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine pairs perfectly with smoked sugarcane chicken, braised turtle skirt with vinegar and pepper, scallion-flavored oyster beef with rice, and the off-menu Three-Cup Crispy Wan, offering a delicate balance of meat fat. The Chicken Broth Yellow Croaker is special, featuring chanterelle mushrooms paired with fish scales, using the drip method to extract the chicken broth. The Henri Germain Burgundy Côte d'Or Chardonnay, with its hazelnut, toast, and limestone mineral notes, provides a rounded body to complement the rich soup. After a series of flavors, a double-sided Da Hong Pao Song-style tea ceremony, with both cold-brewed and hot-foam versions, serves as a prelude to the Jadeite Cabbage, a "bathing and changing" for the palate. The finish is Snow Jasmine sparkling tea, with its elegant jasmine aroma, paired with jasmine bird's nest, black sesame cake, Buddha's hand mille-feuille, and osmanthus-flavored kidney beans, filling the entire meal with floral and fruity fragrances. Ancient and modern flavors meet beautifully on the table.
