Basum Tso in Tibet | A little Switzerland hidden in Tibet
"Basum Tso" also known as Cuogao Lake🌊, in Tibetan means "green water". The lake is at an altitude of 3480 meters, located 36 kilometers from Bahe Town, Gongbujiangda County, in the upper reaches of the Bahe River in the high mountain valley, it is a famous sacred lake and holy land of the Red Sect. In August 2017, it became the first natural scenic 5A tourist area in Tibet.
🎡 Attractions:
1⃣ Island in the heart of Basum Tso
A small island in the middle of Basum Tso, connected to the land by a floating bridge. Tourists can walk up via this bridge or take a small boat. Legend has it that the island is a "hollow island", i.e., it is not connected to the lake bottom and floats on the lake. Although it is just a legend, it makes people feel the magic of nature.
2⃣ Cuozong Gongba Temple
Located on the island in the lake, it is a famous Red Sect Nyingma temple in Tibet, built in the late Tang Dynasty, with a history of more than 1500 years. There is a peach and pine tree in the south of the temple. In spring, the peach blossoms and green pines contrast each other, which is very beautiful.
3⃣ Jieba Village
At the foot of the scenic area of Basum Tso, there is an ancient village hidden -- Jieba Village, located deep in the scenic area in Cuogao Township. Only when you explore deep into the scenic area, you will find a paradise at the end of the lake.
4⃣ Xinco (very beautiful, worth a visit)✨
Xinco is an extended scenic spot inside Basum Tso, very beautiful, suitable for hiking, 6 kilometers, about 3 hours. Xinco is quite far from Basum Tso, about 20~30 kilometers, and the road conditions are poor.
🎈 Admission: 115 yuan/person, sightseeing car 50 yuan/person
🎈 Opening hours of the scenic area:
3.15-10.15, 8:30--20:30
10.16-next year 3.14, 9:30-19:30
🚘 Transportation: Self-driving or group tour
You can also take a train from Lhasa to Nyingchi, and then take a bus from Nyingchi City Passenger Transport Center to Basum Tso, about 120 kilometers, ticket price 62 yuan, journey 2-2.5 hours
🏠 Food and accommodation: Basum Tso has developed into a relatively mature tourist resort in recent years, with convenient food and accommodation. The prices in the restaurants in the scenic area are relatively high, and the sanitary conditions are general
🌟 Best viewing season: Spring, Autumn.
In spring, Basum Tso will present a charming blue, as if it were the blue tears of Nyenchen Tanglha. If you also like blue, why not go and see Basum Tso in spring!
Every autumn, when the air is crisp and clear, the forest is dyed and the lake water is pure and clear.
Super real Songzanlin (Basongtso Store)
1, The hardware is impeccable, the room has a smart toilet, electric towel rack, projector, ambient night light (it's the most reasonable lighting design in the hotels I've stayed in recently), but the standard room bed is tiny! 1.2m X 1.8m, isn't it impossible for tall people to stretch their legs?
2, Some thoughtful little things, goodnight drink (in a thermos), prepared a variety of drinks coffee and so on that you can make yourself
3, The scenery is stunning, the swimming pool under the snow mountain, the restaurant with a 270-degree view, the dock where you can sail on the lake, and the horse farm and so on, the soon-to-open Ancestor Bird, it's only a matter of time before it becomes a stop on the journey rather than a night at a hotel
4, Food, dinner is not bad, ordered mushroom stewed rice and vegetables and so on, apart from being expensive there is no problem, breakfast is very rich and delicious, afternoon tea is a bit perfunctory, probably considering that not many guests eat it
5, Service, the biggest complaint this time, the night before they said it was quite good, we checked in very late and didn't get afternoon tea, the room can be delayed until 2 o'clock to check out, if we leave early they can help us pack, breakfast until 10 o'clock and so on, the next morning, they first called to urge us to check out at 11 o'clock, because there are new guests booked? We disagreed, then said that afternoon tea can't be packed, only dine in, and said that breakfast is only until 9 o'clock, our communication process also said that we are very difficult to communicate, can't understand a bit.
Above, can experience, encounter a good manager may have a better experience.

Life advice: If you come to Tibet, you must visit Basum Lake.
October is one of the best months to visit Tibet. The rainy season is over, the sun is shining, and the cool autumn air is relaxing. Basum Lake is especially beautiful! 😍
Here, snow-capped mountains, lakes, forests, and ancient sites blend together like a natural palette.
In Tibetan, Basum Lake means "green water," which sounds appealing. 🌿
The "Daqiela Viewing Platform" is the top attraction in the scenic area. From here, you can see the entire island in the middle of the lake. It's so beautiful that you won't want to leave.
·
🔥Must-visit places
✅ Lake Island: This is the legendary "Hollow Island." If you visit, be sure to stomp your feet and see if it's hollow. The island is full of vegetation and is a natural oxygen bar.
✅ Cuozong Gongba Temple: Located on the island, this temple has a long history, unique sculptures, and architecture. It's a great place to pray for blessings. 🙏
✅ If you like hiking 🚶🏻 and adventure, you're in luck! There are many hiking trails along the lake, where you can see a variety of wildlife and experience the wonders of nature. 🌿
·
🔥Scenic area features

Come to Lhasa to enjoy the most beautiful autumn. If you miss it, you'll have to wait another year.
⛱️Must-visit attractions: Basum Lake is not just about the island in the middle of the lake. The real essence of Basum Lake lies in the new lake, Bailang Valley, and other places further inside. That's why Basum Lake is the only 5A natural scenic spot in Tibet and is also known as a hiker's paradise.
🍜Food guide: Basum Lake mushroom pot, Yufan wild mushroom hot pot
🏨Accommodation guide: You can stay at Songtsam Basum Lake Linka Hotel or Himalaya Basum Lake Resort. For a more budget-friendly option, we recommend Guoji, but it's a bit old. Many new hotels have opened in Basum Lake this year, but the conditions are generally average. Please note that hotels in Basum Lake are generally non-refundable, so be careful before booking. We departed from Lhasa and stayed at Lhasa Yanlu Bieyuan (Potala Palace Branch) in Lhasa, which is much better than Basum Lake. Try to stay in the city center.
🚄Transportation guide: Self-drive or join a tour group. The prices of Nyingchi tours are quite reasonable these days.
💗Other tips: The road to the new lake is a dirt road, so it's recommended to drive at least an SUV.
I really love every Songtsam hotel!
I really love every Songtsam hotel
I missed Songtsam many times. The first time I went to Meili Snow Mountain, I was entangled between Songtsam Meili and Jixiashan Meili for a long time. In the end, I chose Jixiashan. Although this hotel is also great (the location is the best in Meili Snow Mountain, the food is delicious, the room is also very large and very good, the viewing platform is friendly to all guests), but it can't be like Songtsam, like a whole concept to impress me, circle fans on the spot.
Two months ago, when I drove around Yunnan Shangri-La with my good sisters, I stayed in Songtsam hotels all the way. It was really from the excellent location of the hotel, sincere and enthusiastic service, overall concept, Tibetan culture, and local ethnic minority employment support. Etc., all completely moved me. Although the hotel is not cheap in these areas, the quality and service and the difficulty of the area can kill many domestic resort hotels, not to mention those hotels in Europe. I really think of every hotel I stayed in Europe. The price of the resort hotel just wants to roll his eyes. After playing in New Zealand, I really don't plan to go abroad to play. If I want to spend money, I would rather spend it in China. One is service and peace of mind, and the other is to do my best to keep the money in the domestic internal circulation consumption.
When I left Songtsam Basongcuo Linka Hotel, I really didn't want to leave. Our snow mountain lake view double bedroom suite occupies the best view of the hotel. My bedroom has windows on three sides, one of which is a balcony. I really like it! I must come back again ❤️

Nyingchi.
Set off for Nyingchi. On the way over the Sejila Mountain at an altitude of 4,702 meters, you will see the beautiful Namjagbarwa Peak (7,782 meters), the 15th highest peak in the world and one of the most beautiful peaks in China. Then, you will go down the mountain and pass the beautiful Niyang River to reach the Gala Village Taohuagou, known as the "Jiangnan on the Border". The centuries-old peach blossoms and rapeseed flowers all over the mountains are competing for beauty like drunk clouds, which is fascinating in the embrace of the snow-capped peaks!
Those who know Tibet will never miss the autumn in Nyingchi.
🧐From late September each year, Nyingchi, known as the "Jiangnan of Tibet", enters the golden period of autumn. Yellow, red, purple and other colors, like the strokes of a painter, slowly dye the slopes, forests, rivers, lakes and snow-capped mountains of Nyingchi, making the whole Nyingchi more charming. This visual feast will last until mid-to-late November, and the nearly 50-day "Golden Nyingchi" is really not to be missed!
🎈There are many beautiful places in Nyingchi in autumn and winter:
🌟【Basum Lake】This is a famous sacred lake of Tibetan Buddhism, praised as the "turquoise fallen into the world". There are many attractions in the scenic area, such as Lake Island, Cuozong Temple, Jieba Village, Cuogao Village, Xin Lake, Zhong Lake, etc. Autumn is the best season to watch Basum Lake. The sky is high and the air is refreshing. From the lake bank to the mountain ridge, it is like a palette overturned by nature. The forest is dyed and the environment is quiet.
🌟【Namjagbarwa Peak】This is the most representative and highest peak in Nyingchi. The best places to watch Namjagbarwa Peak are Sejila Mountain Pass and Suosong Village in Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon. The best viewing season is from October to April of the following year. At this time, there is less rainfall, the air is dry, the visibility is high, and you can see its most beautiful appearance, especially when the sun shines on the mountain.
🌟【Midui Glacier】It is the lowest glacier in the world and has been rated as one of the six most beautiful glaciers in China by "China National Geographic". The ancient ice and snow that has been preserved for millions of years, the ice basin and the cliffs are crystal clear, and the long ice tongue emits dark blue light, which is more shocking than imagined. It is most suitable to go in autumn and winter.
🌟【Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon】The Grand Canyon is 504 kilometers long and 6009 meters deep at the deepest point. It is the deepest canyon in the world. In addition to taking a boat to see the canyon landscape in the scenic area, there are many good angles for viewing and photography. It is also a great place to watch Namjagbarwa Peak. Early May and early October are the best seasons for hiking.
🌟【Lulang Forest】It is composed of shrubs in the green mountains on both sides, dense spruce and pine trees, and neat meadows in the middle, known as the "natural oxygen bar".
🌟【Bomi】The autumn in Bomi County is super beautiful, the colorful forest is like fire, and the snow-capped glaciers are dotted in it. The sky and the lake are so blue that people are intoxicated. From September, there will be autumn colors around the Bomi Gang spruce forest. From early October to early November, the autumn colors are the most intense, especially the Bomi section of National Highway 318. The glacier is more charming against the colorful autumn colors on the road.
Are you sure you don't want to visit Nyingchi?
Get "drunk" on beauty:
Start your winter trip to Tibet in Nyingchi!
Nyingchi in winter is a sunny Jiangnan in the snowy area, a fairy tale world with snowflakes flying, a colorful "world's highest gallery", and a highly intoxicating experience.
Autumn and winter in Nyingchi:
[Basum Lake] Snow-capped mountains, lakes, forests, light hiking
Basum Lake is a famous sacred lake of the Tibetan Red Sect, known as the "fallen turquoise", and the scenic area has many attractions such as Lake Island, Cuozonggongba Temple, Jieba Village, Cuogao Village, Xinco, Zhongco, etc.! Its best viewing season is autumn, with clear skies and light clouds, from the lakeshore to the mountains, the mountains are full of colorful forests, rich colors, quiet environment...</
I regret not discovering Nyingchi earlier!! It's really beautiful!!!
Nyingchi has different beautiful scenery in all four seasons. In spring, you can see flowers and leaves in summer. At the junction of summer and autumn, you can see the harvest time when a piece of highland barley field is dyed into brilliant gold.
Nyingchi is below 3,000 meters above sea level and is one of the areas in Tibet that is not prone to altitude sickness. The Yarlung Zangbo River divides the Himalayas into two, bringing the Atlantic water vapor here, making the climate here more humid and pleasant.
📍In autumn, the side of Ranwu Lake is a yellowish grassland. On the hillside, there is a vast forest, reflected in the emerald-like lake, quiet and deep, ethereal and quiet.
📍In autumn, the banks of the Niyang River can be called the "most beautiful scenic avenue". The golden and warm red mixed plants are lined on both sides, colorful woods, shrubs, golden grass beaches on the river beach, farmland, water birds playing in the water, horses, sheep... where the eyes are, they are all colorful world.
📍Sejila Mountain belongs to the Nyainqentanglha Mountains and is the dividing line between the eastern and central parts of Nyingchi County, Tibet. In the early morning, the colorful forest and shrubs are hidden in the clouds and the dark color, only the continuous autumn color enjoys the whole mountain.
📍Basum Lake is located in the upper reaches of the Niyang River and is a famous local sacred lake. The clear lake is set among the mountains. In autumn, when the forest is dyed, the original green lake is even greener. Here is the most beautiful autumn color of "Sai Shang Jiangnan". The warm yellow pasture sets off the distant snow-capped mountains. From the lake shore to the ridge, the forest is dyed, red, green, golden, and scattered all over the mountains.
📍In autumn, the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, from the bottom of the valley to the top of the mountain, stretches for dozens of miles of colorful forests, red, yellow, green, different tones, different levels, different leaves, rich and brilliant, colorful. The Suosong Village on the north bank of the canyon is not only the best place to enjoy peaches, but also the best place to enjoy autumn.
📍In autumn, the Lulang Forest is colorful. The color matching is like a palette that has been knocked over by accident. The original shrubs and dense spruce and pine forests are endless, the plateau meadows and streams are winding, and the autumn leaves are blooming~ The autumn in Lulang is full of warm colors everywhere. Only those who have been to Lulang in autumn know how shocking the autumn in Lulang is.
📍Located in the northeast of Nyingchi, Bomi is a famous glacier town. There are hundreds of glaciers in the territory. In the autumn, when the weather is clear, you can overlook Bomi, where glaciers are lined up, countless silver lights are shining under the blue sky, and they are more agile against the surrounding mountains and forests. In autumn, Bomi, the maple forest and poplar trees are intertwined like fire, light yellow, golden, dark gray, bright red, orange red... white is pure and dazzling, red is gorgeous and brilliant, green is green and green, blue is refreshing... a magnificent and heavy plateau oil painting
Call of the Wild: Explore the Mysterious Lakes of Tibet
🌟 Call of the Wild: Explore the Mysterious Lakes of Tibet 🌟
🌈 The meaning of travel is not just about the destination, but also the scenery along the way and the people you meet.
🚀 Coming from afar, just to see your charm
On this mysterious land of Tibet, there are countless natural wonders that are fascinating. Today, I will take you to explore two lakes that I am obsessed with - Basumtso and Sijinlacuo.
🏞️ Basumtso: Emerald green, a holy place to cleanse the soul
🌿 Basumtso green, a dazzling color that is intoxicating
Basumtso, in Tibetan means "green water", the lake here presents a unique green, as if it is the emerald color carefully blended by nature. Standing by the lake, looking at the green, all the troubles are gone with the wind, and the soul has been purified as never before.
📸 Photo tips:
Best shooting time: Morning and dusk, the sun shines on the lake, sparkling, beautiful.
Dress suggestions: White or light-colored clothes, contrasting with the green of the lake, the photos taken are more layered.
🌌 Sijinlacuo: Sky blue, the destination of the soul
💙 Sijinlacuo blue, a deep color that is fascinating
Sijinlacuo, known as the "Mirror of the Sky", the blue of the lake is deep and mysterious, as if it can reflect people's hearts. Here, you can feel the stillness of time, as if the whole world is left with this quiet blue.
📸 Photo tips:
Best shooting time: At noon, the sun is shining directly, and the blue of the lake is the strongest.
Dress suggestions: Blue or similar color clothes, integrated with the lake, the photos taken are more mysterious.
🧳 Travel preparation:
Plateau reaction: Be prepared in advance and bring some anti-plateau drugs.
Sun protection measures: The plateau ultraviolet rays are strong, remember to apply sunscreen, wear a sun hat and sunglasses.
Respect local culture: Respect local customs and religious beliefs during the trip.
💬 Conclusion:
Every trip is a baptism of the soul. Behind these two names, Basumtso and Sijinlacuo, are the endless gifts given to us by this land of Tibet. Here, we not only see beautiful scenery, but also feel the power of life and the magic of nature. If you also yearn for such a trip, don't hesitate, pack your bags, and embark on this spiritual journey with me!
Sichuan-Tibet Highway Self-Drive Tour (20) "Famous Sacred Lake" - Basum Lake.
Sichuan-Tibet Highway Self-Drive Tour (20)
"Famous Sacred Lake" - Basum Lake
Lhasa, Tibet - Nyingchi
2024.9.18
Gongbo'gyamda weather is clear to cloudy, temperature 8-24 degrees, altitude 3500 meters, National Highway 318-G4218 Expressway.
When people are gathered together, we are walking on the "top of the world", spending a simple and "highest level", meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival.
The Sichuan-Tibet self-driving tour has been over half a month, and the time and itinerary are over half. Every day there are new expectations, which are exciting and tireless.
I want to arrive at today's place of stay early, the east just shows the white belly of the fish, we are on the road. On the wide streets of Mokokoka, the lights are bright, and a round moon hangs on the horizon.
Starting today, I will embark on the "Sichuan-Tibet Highway Self-Drive Tour" loop-South Line G318, all the way to the east and the altitude will go down until Ganzi in Sichuan will go up to 4000 meters again.
Choose G4218 Yaye Expressway to go straight to Basum Lake, and there are tunnels through Mila Mountain on the way. The Mila Mountain Pass (altitude 5013 meters) that was crossed nine years ago is no longer important. The Nagqu Nagenla Pass (altitude 5190 meters) has become the highest record of this trip.
At 11 o'clock in the morning, the car arrived at Basum Lake Scenic Area.
Basum Lake (5A), Tibetan means "green water". The lake surface is 3480 meters above sea level, the water area is about 27 square kilometers, the deepest part is 120 meters, it is located in the high gorge and deep valley upstream of Bahe Town, Bahe, Gongbo'gyamda County, and is a famous sacred lake and holy place of the Red Sect. In August 2017, it became the first natural landscape national 5A scenic spot in Tibet.
I have been to Basum Lake nine years ago. The quiet and beautiful natural scenery left us with unforgettable impressions. This time I passed by and came to see it again.
The scenic spot has changed a lot after being upgraded to 5A, and some are not recognized. We just wanted to go to the lake heart island for a turn, but the result was that the scenic bus pulled us to the wrong place according to the established route, which delayed nearly three quarters of an hour.
The core scenic area of Basum Lake is Lake Heart Island, which is embedded in the emerald green lake water (Figure 1), and two trestle bridges are connected to the shore (Figure 2). The island is not big, and it can be finished in half an hour (Figure 3). There is a Red Sect temple-Cozong Temple (Figure 4) on the island, located at the north end of the island (Figure 5). There is also a special-looking evergreen tree that is said to be more than a thousand years old (Figure 6). There is a long plank road along the lake for tourists to stroll and enjoy the scenery (Figure 7). The marina is moored with speedboats and sailboats (Figure 8), for tourists to choose to rent a lake tour (Figure 9). There are also two viewing platforms in the scenic area for overlooking the lake heart island, and the scenic bus can be sent to the viewing platform. We have drones, and these two climbing points have not gone.
After the tour of Basum Lake, drive more than 200 kilometers and rush to stay in Suosong Village, Milin County (altitude 3140 meters).
Namjagbarwa, the mountain is high and the road is long, come for you!
Whether you get what you want, listen to the analysis tomorrow.

| A journey of spiritual healing. 💖 I have to share with you my wonderful experience at the Songzan Basongcuo Linka Hotel. 😍
📍Location: The hotel is located on the shores of Basongcuo Lake in Nyingchi, Tibet. The surrounding scenery is breathtaking. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, forests, glaciers, and grasslands, you can smell the fragrance of plants and hear the birds singing as soon as you open the window. It's like being in a fairyland. 🌳
🏠Room: Our room was spacious and bright, decorated in a Tibetan style, and combined with modern comfort. Every detail reflects quality, and the bedding is very comfortable, allowing us to have a good sleep in high-altitude areas. 🛏️ And each bedroom has a diffused oxygen supply system, so you don't have to worry about altitude sickness. 🥰
🍽️Dining: The hotel's restaurant offers a variety of delicious Tibetan and Chinese dishes. The ingredients are fresh and the taste is superb. While enjoying the food, you can also enjoy the beautiful scenery outside the window. It's a real treat. 😋
💆♀️Facilities: The hotel's facilities are also very complete, including a lobby bar, bar, spa, meeting room, gym, boutique, etc. The spa and gym also have a diffused oxygen supply system, so you don't have to worry about altitude sickness while relaxing and exercising. 🧘♀️
👨💼Service: The service here is excellent. The staff are very enthusiastic and friendly, making us feel at home. From check-in to check-out, every step is very thoughtful, making our trip more relaxed and enjoyable. 💗
In short, the Songzan Basongcuo Linka Hotel is a place worth visiting. Here, you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city, enjoy the tranquility and beauty of nature, and experience the charm of Tibetan culture. 💕💕💕
Lhasa | The Songzan Hotel is a top Tibetan-style hotel in a hidden paradise.
Hidden in the beautiful secret world of Basum Lake is the Songzan Snow Mountain Lake View Suite! The location of Songzan is absolutely amazing! The grasslands, lakes, and snow-capped mountains are like a carefully arranged painting by Mother Nature, each frame is breathtakingly beautiful! The Snow Mountain Lake View Double Bedroom Suite is a natural picture frame, with beautiful views outside the window, it's like being in a flowing landscape painting!
What's even more surprising is that there is a swimming pool here! Although no one dares to swim in the cold plateau, imagine enjoying a moment of tranquility by the pool under the blue sky and white clouds, it's a different kind of flavor! At 8 pm, the staff will bring a talent show by the pool, adding a bit of joy and warmth to the quiet night.
The hotel also has its own horse farm and horses, the most expensive black horse is said to be worth 200,000, it's unforgettable at first sight! Walking out of the back door, you will see the vast grasslands and lush trees, and you can reach the lake by walking through them. The hotel has a special photo frame, and the photos taken are just like oil paintings, they are so beautiful!
The entire hotel is not only full of design sense, but also very photogenic, and there is also a travel photography agency. Although I didn't have time to take photos this time, the photos I took casually were already very good!
However, the only downside is that the hotel does not have oxygen supply in the whole house like Songzan Namjagbarwa Mountain House, there is no oxygen supply equipment in the living room, and the diffused oxygen supply in the room is not very sufficient. We stayed for two nights, and all four of us had hypoxia. But the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, this is still a hotel in Basum Lake that is very worth experiencing!
The surrounding attractions are not to be missed! The lakes and mountains of Basum Lake, the majestic snow-capped mountains, and the vast grasslands are all rare natural gifts.
Come to Songzan Snow Mountain Lake View Suite and experience an intimate contact with nature! Remember to book in advance, good places are always in short supply! 😉🎒
A green gem on earth.
A green gem on earth
After arriving in Lhasa yesterday, I took a short break. At 8:30 this morning, I took a chartered car to "Jiangnan in Tibet" Linzhi.
After driving more than 360 kilometers, I first came to the sacred lake inlaid in the deep canyon-Basongcuo. "Cuo" in Tibetan transliteration is a lake. Basongcuo Tibetan means "green water".
Basongcuo, shaped like a crescent moon, quietly lies in the high mountain canyon more than 3,000 meters.
Basongcuo is indeed like her characters, it is green, she is green without any impurities, like a piece of emerald. The lake is clear, and the mountains reflected on the lake are entangled with each other, clinging tightly. The green mountains around Basongcuo are like ink, and the clouds are misty. The lake water looks green at first glance, but if you look closely, it presents a variety of colors such as emerald, jade green, gem green, agate green, etc., with different shades and levels. It is fascinating and fascinating.
The water is horizontal, and the mountain is the peak of the eyebrows. The agility of the water, the stability of the mountains, the beauty of the mountains and rivers, is interpreted as a fairyland in the world in Basongcuo.
Due to lack of physical strength, I was unable to board the lake island of Basongcuo. The traveling companion said that the lake island is the core scenic spot of Basongcuo. The lush small island is dotted on the green water, overlooking the green mountains, the sky is blue and clear, the green mountains and white clouds reflect the lake, and the scenery is beautiful. The lake island is not only beautiful in natural scenery, but also because of its rich cultural and historical background, it is recognized as a tourist resort integrating natural landscape, cultural relics and leisure experience. It's a pity I didn't see it.
A day's itinerary, although most of the time is on the road, but the mountains and rivers along the way are a beautiful journey. It really is "the beauty of Tibet is on the road".

Hiking
Hiking alone to Xincuo, 7.29 kilometers round trip in less than three hours||Xincuo round trip takes a steady 3 hours, with an elevation gain of 15 meters, the highest point being 3830 meters.
Came to Nyingchi just for Xincuo, I don't recommend you follow my special forces travel style.
Lhasa-Nyingchi, arrived at 15:24, picked up the car at the station and headed straight to Xincuo, arrived at Xincuo Inn at 19:57. Note, the navigation on the map is not accurate for this Xincuo Inn. When you see the Xincuo Bridge, don't cross it, it's on the left-hand side, in the yard with signs for a restaurant and supermarket.
The accommodation environment is average, as there is only one place to stay, so there's no choice. The room is damp and cold, with an electric blanket. If you don't turn it on, it's cold; if you do, you'll get a sore throat after a night. The hot water takes ten minutes to get slightly warm.
The next day, set off for Xincuo at 8:00. After crossing the Xincuo Bridge, there is a row of yellow houses, which is where the motorbike and horse riding start. You can see red motorbikes, but there were none at my time. The motorbikes are four-wheeled, similar to ATVs, and quite stable. Walk through the small path between the motorbikes, and you'll see the river and grassland. Keep walking forward, and when you see the forest, you're not far from the destination.
At 8:56, you need to walk through a section of waterlogged road to reach the forest entrance. You can walk on the pile of stones on the right side of this road. The water didn't reach my shoe soles, and walking on it won't get your shoes wet.
At 9:24, I reached the destination, 3.59 kilometers, taking 1 hour and 21 minutes. After walking through the forest, I saw a blue food truck, and further ahead is Xincuo Lake. When I arrived, there was still morning fog.
At 9:42, the morning fog drifted away. What I saw was still the limited edition; what they saw was the sunny version.
About Xincuo sanitation fee: I didn't see anyone, nor did I know who to pay, so I didn't pay.
Suggestions for solo female hikers: I suggest starting after 9 am because the forest you must pass through is a bit eerie when the sun hasn't shone in. On the return trip, it's different when the sun is out.
It's best to hike with a companion. There's a section in the forest with no signal, and at an altitude of over 3800 meters, altitude sickness might occur.
If you want to see the morning fog, it’s around 1 degree Celsius when you set off in the morning, so it's quite cold. I recommend wearing a fleece under a windbreaker. If you start at 9 am, you don't need it; the sun is warm. I wore a windbreaker on the return trip, which was just right.
When I was walking back, people coming from Basongcuo arrived one after another. The accommodation at Basongcuo is better than at Xincuo. The scenery is beautiful with or without morning fog.
At 11:00, left Xincuo for Nyingchi, returned the car at 15:30, and arrived in Lhasa at 21:00.
Don't complete it in one day like I did. It's best to spend one day at Basongcuo, set off for Xincuo the next morning, return to Basongcuo in the afternoon, and then start the next destination.
In conclusion: Xincuo is worth it. Every casual shot is a beautiful scene, a must-visit spot in Nyingchi.
Tibet Nyingchi | A paradise lost in the human world
| A paradise lost in the human world.
💕 Known as the "Jiangnan of Tibet," Nyingchi is breathtakingly beautiful!
🌸 In spring, Nyingchi is an ocean of peach blossoms. The mountains and fields are covered with peach blossoms blooming like pink clouds, contrasting with the blue sky, snow-capped mountains, and green barley fields, creating a picturesque scene. Wild peach blossoms bloom freely in the fields and among the crisscrossing paths, exuding a wild and passionate beauty that makes you feel like you are in a utopia😍.
🌊 In summer, the Niyang River in Nyingchi is crystal clear, and the willows by the river dance with the wind. Here, you can set up a tent, enjoy the coolness of summer, and feel the tranquility and beauty of nature🏕️.
⛰️ In autumn, Mount Namjagbarwa is majestic and magnificent, with red maple leaves painting a colorful picture. Hiking and enjoying the intoxicating autumn scenery feels like listening to the whispers of nature in autumn🥾🍂.
❄️ In winter, the snow-capped mountains of Nyingchi are dressed in silver, and the pine trees stand tall and strong. Playing in the snow, experiencing the joy of winter, and feeling the purity and tranquility of this land⛷️❄️.
🎈 Here, there are not only stunning natural landscapes but also unique cultural attractions. You can visit the replica of the Potala Palace—Tashi Island in Basum Lake, and feel the profound charm of Tibetan culture🏯.

Walking into a Tibetan Home
Fourth Day
Walking into a Tibetan Home
Today, Guide Yang took us to visit a Tibetan home.
We departed from the hotel at eight in the morning. This hotel claims to be three-star, but the breakfast was terrible, and the room didn't even have towels or bath towels, with only one tissue which was far from enough.
Guide Yang is very diligent; he started explaining as soon as we got on the bus. He talked about the ancient fortress group of the Gongbu Tibetan culture. He said that the Gongbu Tibetans commemorate Sakyamuni by exposing their right arm, tying it with a belt, and wearing a round-topped hat with two hat tails. He mentioned that the Gongbu people have excellently preserved their traditional handicrafts, and their craftsmanship is superb.
Today, Guide Yang took us to visit a Tibetan home.
The hostess of this Tibetan home is named Moon. Her father is the village secretary. She said she is 48 years old, has a 5-year-old grandson, and her four children include a doctor, a teacher, and a graduate student.
Moon is very eloquent, friendly, and enthusiastic, with a quick response and well-organized speech. Through her eloquent narration, I learned about Tibetan history and culture, especially gaining some understanding of the Gongbu Tibetans. Most of her time was spent talking about the past and present of the Tibetans, their history and culture. I knew she mainly wanted to sell silver jewelry.
She is very different from salespeople in many places. Listening to her talk, you gain insights and reflections. For example, she said that the Han and Tibetan people need to communicate; only through communication can there be understanding and support. Indeed, communication is needed between ethnic groups and between people. Only with communication can there be understanding, empathy, and willingness to give. She was very sincere, and in the end, I bought a silver comb.
After leaving the Tibetan home, we went to the Xiuba Ancient Fortress.
The Xiuba Ancient Fortress is located in Xiuba Village, Bahe Town, Gongbujiangda County. 'Xiuba' means 'skinning' in Tibetan. The Xiuba Ancient Fortress has a history of over 1600 years. It is the oldest, most historical, densest, and best-preserved ancient fortress group in Tibet, housing the largest prayer wheel in Tibet. The entire fortress group is surrounded by a square formation, giving visitors the feeling of being on an ancient battlefield.
Walking into the Xiuba Ancient Fortress at noon, it didn't feel hot but rather cool, as the fortress is surrounded by plants, mostly peach trees that are hundreds or even thousands of years old. Some peach trees have hollow trunks but still green leaves, and some branches even have ganoderma growing on them. It is said that in spring, the peach blossoms of the fortress are one of the most beautiful sights in Tibet.
In the Xiuba Ancient Fortress, you can also admire the largest prayer wheel in Tibet, the Gesar Command Platform, the Prayer Flag Tower, and the Blue Peacock, among other cultural and natural wonders. Visitors to the fortress can feel the rich historical atmosphere, as if traveling back in time to a thousand years ago.
There is also a legend about the Xiuba Ancient Fortress.
Legend has it that the Xiuba Ancient Fortress was built over a thousand years ago by Songtsen Gampo during his conquests to facilitate communication between the army and for garrison and defense purposes, thus constructing these fortresses with ruling symbols.
The Xiuba Ancient Fortress predates the Potala Palace by 300 years and is one of Tibet's important historical and cultural heritages.
For dinner, we had stone pot mushroom chicken soup. Guide Yang said to eat the chicken first, drink the soup, and finally blanch the vegetables. Everyone enjoyed this dinner. Eight strangers from all over the country gradually started communicating while adding ingredients and soup to the hot pot, making the meal more flavorful. Of course, everyone didn't eat much rice but had steamed buns made of highland barley, which were extremely delicious.
On the way back to Lhasa, we also checked in at the internet-famous bridge. Standing on the bridge, overlooking the night view of Lhasa, walking on the bridge with the evening breeze was quite pleasant. However, the night view couldn't compare to that of Xiamen.
318 A Must-Drive Destination in This Life - Beautiful Basong Lake
The water of Basong Lake is like an emerald. It's the first time I've seen such a large field of lavender, contrasting with the blue sky and white clouds, it's breathtakingly beautiful . Next, we are heading to Lhasa~
🌟 Highlights:
The Basong Lake Scenic Area includes Basong Lake, Xincuo, Zhongcuo, and other areas. It does not refer to just one lake. Although the scenic area is named Basong Lake, it actually includes many hidden spots deep within the area. If you think Basong Lake is a scam, you definitely didn't do your homework, didn't allocate enough time, and just took a quick look at the lake from the island in the middle. Even if it's just Basong Lake alone, it's extremely beautiful if you check the weather in advance, because Basong Lake is surrounded by snow-capped mountains with unique shapes.
The entire Basong Lake Scenic Area covers lakes, snow-capped mountains, pine forests, colorful forests (in autumn), meadows, pastures, ravines, streams, glaciers, and other landscapes. It's very rich and suitable for light to moderate hiking and camping. The main attraction is Basong Lake, but the essence lies in Xincuo, with the extremely niche hidden spot Zhongcuo.

1. Allocate enough time. At least a whole day, which means staying overnight at Basong Lake. Start early in the morning to visit Xincuo, then return to explore the main attractions of Basong Lake. It is strongly recommended to arrange two days, with a whole day for Xincuo.
2. You must visit Xincuo. It is about 30 kilometers from Basong Lake to Xincuo Village. The entire road is unpaved, but the road conditions are actually okay, generally flat with more gravel. It is recommended to use at least a two-wheel-drive city SUV.
3. The important thing about going to Xincuo is not the destination, but the scenery along the way. For example, in early November, there are snow-covered villages, pine and snow forests, colorful forests, and snow-capped mountains along the way. Especially on a sunny morning after snow, the scenery is stunning.
4. There is a ticket office at Xincuo. From November to March 15th of the following year, it is free, but there are paid activities such as motorcycles, off-road motorcycles, and horse riding. It is strongly recommended to walk in, which is about 6 kilometers round trip. Travel light, bring water and some food. The path follows a stream, with beautiful scenery all the way, passing through pine forests to reach Xincuo. If you take a vehicle, an off-road motorcycle costs 200 yuan per vehicle, and a two-wheel motorcycle costs 100 yuan per vehicle, with only a 50-minute limit. Exceeding 10 minutes requires an additional 50 yuan, which is very tight and not enough time.
5. It is strongly recommended to get up early. For natural scenic travel destinations, the views and photos in the morning are absolutely stunning.
6. It is recommended to bring a medium to long focal length camera.
7. Regarding entering the scenic area, only those who have booked a hotel within the scenic area can drive in. Otherwise, regardless of whether it is a free ticket period, you can only take the sightseeing bus to enter. Therefore, if you go to Basong Lake, you must visit Xincuo, and if you go to Xincuo, you must stay overnight. Rushing through will definitely make it less enjoyable.
