A wonderful encounter with Hami Dahaodao.
Stepping into Hami Dahaodao is like entering a mysterious and magnificent alien world.
During the day, the sky and the earth here are extremely vast. The continuous Yardang landforms present a fantastic color under the sunlight. The golden sand dunes and the blue sky are in harmony, forming a beautiful picture. Its unique scenery is simply a paradise for aerial photography. Overlooking from the air, the spectacular panorama of Dahaodao is in sight, which makes people admire the magic of nature.
This is also an excellent place for adventure, but as a no-man's land, safety must be paid attention to during the adventure. Make sufficient preparations in advance, carry necessary equipment and materials, and always pay attention to changes in weather and terrain.
On this charming and challenging land, bravely start your own exploration journey, leave unforgettable memories, and at the same time, respect nature, ensure your own safety, and make every encounter with Dahaodao a precious and beautiful experience in life.

Citywalk, Hami
Hami city is better and more relaxing than I imagined, and it is creating a national model city for double support. Walking around Hami city, savoring the cultural pulse, there are roughly two main lines and two auxiliary lines.
The first main line includes the museum, the Mukam Heritage Center, the Hui King's Mansion, the Hui King's Tomb, and the Aletun Ancient Street. It is recommended to arrange a whole day to visit, but the museum and the Mukam Heritage Center are closed at noon, open from 10 am to 1 pm and from 4 pm to 7 pm. During the interval, you can visit the Hui King's Mansion and the Hui King's Tomb, and in the evening, go to Aletun Ancient Street to experience ethnic customs and have dinner.
The second main line includes Zuogong Cultural Park, People's Park, Shaanxi Mosque, Dashi Cross, and Suzhou Mosque. This route is more scattered in theme but features some unique buildings and Uyghur customs. Start with Zuogong Cultural Park, then turn to the park, see the unique buildings of Suzhou Mosque and Shaanxi Mosque, then return to Dashi Cross to stroll around the old streets, buy ethnic-style products, and have the most characteristic Hami dinner.
The first auxiliary line is the Hami Cultural and Creative Park. If you encounter the Hami Melon Festival in July, you must go to the Cultural and Creative Park. The Hami Melon Festival is held here every year, with exhibits and booths, and free tasting of Hami melons. The park is very large, covering 1,000 acres, and there is also a Hami melon planting base. The environment of the park is very good, suitable for strolling and relaxing.
The second auxiliary line is the 13th Division Rocket Farm. This is a regiment that strictly produces seedless grapes and Hami jujubes according to national green food standards. It was established in 1958, transferred to the Corps in 1982, and renamed the 13th Division Rocket Farm in 2012. It covers an area of about 190 square kilometers and is a national-level "beautiful township." The farm has a northern district sightseeing and leisure area, a museum, a library, a hundred flower garden, and a night market, suitable for flower viewing and leisure.

Summer Travel in Xinjiang|You Must Drive Through the Great Desert Route Once
Vast and boundless, like an endless sea. The Great Desert Route is an ancient Silk Road shortcut from Dunhuang through Hami to Turpan. Traversing this mysterious ancient path, you can walk on the seabed from millions of years ago, venture into the vast Gobi Desert, and explore many rare geological formations. The towering and continuous earthen hills are eroded layer by layer by the wind; the bumpy and uneven Gobi Desert shows no signs of human habitation.
The Great Desert Route consists of large areas of desert Gobi and Yardang landforms, with a dry climate and rampant sandstorms. From one desolation to another, you will never know how many historical legends you are stepping through with each step. It is not just desolate but also unimaginably rich. The various Yardang formations, like battleships and ancient castles, guard this wild land. Every scene is enough to leave you in awe.

Looking for Zuogong's story in Hami
The first attraction upon entering Xinjiang is the Zuogong Cultural Garden in Hami. The famous story of 'Carrying the Coffin to Battle' is about the 68-year-old Zuo Zongtang carrying a coffin from Suzhou (Jiuquan) to Hami, vowing to reclaim Xinjiang for the Qing Dynasty.
In 1864, a Hui rebellion broke out in Xinjiang. Taking advantage of the situation, Agubai, a noble from the Central Asian Khanate of Kokand, unified southern and northern Xinjiang and established the 'Khanate of Hongfu,' receiving support from Britain and Russia. At this time, the impoverished and weakened Qing government was unable to cope. Li Hongzhang and others proposed abandoning Xinjiang, but Zuo Zongtang strongly advocated for its reclamation and received support from Empress Dowager Cixi. Appointed as the imperial commissioner, he stationed himself in Suzhou, personally formulated strategies, raised military funds, and reclaimed most of Xinjiang's territory, leaving only Ili under Russian control. In May 1880, Zuo Zongtang moved his headquarters from Suzhou to Hami, stationed at Phoenix Terrace, personally garrisoned 40,000 troops, and had Liu Jintang feign an attack on Ili to support Zeng Jize in negotiations with the Russians. Eventually, they reclaimed Ili, preserving the integrity of the Qing territory. During his nearly six-month stay in Hami, he developed irrigation, stored grain, repaired roads, and planted mulberry and willow trees, laying the foundation for Xinjiang's stable development.
Many people say that without Zuo Zongtang, China would have lost the beautiful land of Xinjiang.
Zuogong's legacy is eternal, and his noble spirit endures. Looking up at the beautiful sky and white clouds, we are immensely grateful.

Arrived in Hami! Don't miss Aleitun Ancient Street~ The ultimate super guide
Recommendations include: night market, morning market, formal meals, fast food, desserts, with nearly 20 items for you to choose from. Aleitun Ancient Street recommendation index:
Address: Yizhou District - About 40 meters west of the Hami southern suburbs bus station on Huancheng Road
Locals recommend the night market food, a pedestrian street in the scenic area with ethnic cultural characteristics. It's better to go after 6 pm, we strolled until midnight and there were still many people. The large skewers of meat for 20 yuan each are enough to fill you up, and the ancient street also has many spots suitable for taking photos and checking in, and you can even ride a camel. Empress Heaven Street Night Market recommendation index:
■Address: Yizhou District - Empress Heaven Street on Yingbin Avenue
Hami's largest night market, the snack street features delicacies from all over the country, such as Guangdong rice noodle rolls, Changsha stinky tofu, and more, including barbecue and spicy crayfish. It's quite the same, so it's not recommended for tourists. Day Laborers' Market recommendation index:
Address: No. 32 on Jianguo North Road, Yizhou District
The local morning market is just an ordinary farmers' market and wholesale market. Bought some raisins for 30 yuan per kilogram. Went there at noon and there were some locals eating inside, cold noodles + lamb skewers is the standard combo, 10 yuan for cold noodles, sour and not very spicy, quite refreshing, 5 yuan for a skewer of lamb. Also ordered 2 thin-skinned buns for 2.5 yuan each, they're a bit like shumai and very delicious, not recommended for tourists to come here specifically. Qianliuhu Mutton Stewed Pancake recommendation index:
Address: 1-13, 2nd Floor, New Jiarui Building, No. 15 Bayi Road, Yizhou District, the best mutton stewed pancakes are in Balikun, and the mutton stewed pancakes here are just like those from Balikun. The 158 yuan mutton stewed pancake is enough for 2-3 people to eat their fill, the mutton is flavorful and chewy, and the pancake soaked in mutton broth is something that carb lovers absolutely cannot miss. Lao Ma's Big Plate Chicken with Noodles recommendation index:
Address: No. 7 storefront at the north exit of Dongfeng Hotel, Yizhou District - The big plate chicken for 118 yuan was astonishing for the four of us girls, as a Northeasterner I felt the portion was too generous, four people could eat their fill and still pack up more than half, you can order a medium plate chicken for 88 yuan. The potatoes are soft and mushy, the wide noodles are flavorful, and the chicken is tender. Xinjiang's spiciness is quite hot, we had a girl from the south with us and we ordered mild spicy, which was very delicious.
Shengtian Pilaf and Meat Soup Restaurant recommendation index:
Address: Bottom of Ronghe Community on Guangming Road, Yizhou District
Must-push index maxed out, as someone who has been to Hami more than 3 times, I must recommend the pilaf. Ordered the minced meat pilaf group purchase for 21, lamb chop pilaf group purchase for 35 and it comes with yogurt, 3 large pieces of lamb chops are very tender, the pilaf has a milky fragrance.
Free Xinjiang salty milk tea, yogurt sprinkled with sugar and raisins, take a sip of the original flavor it's very sour, mix well and it becomes sweet and delicious, plus free mixed vegetables. The service in the store is very good, you can get free refills if the rice is not enough.
Eat Again Baked Bun Shop
Recommendation index:
Address: 120 meters south of the intersection of County Road 085 and Huancheng Road, Yizhou District
Xinjiang's baked buns are so cheap, 3 yuan for one bun I could eat three meals a day, the buns are big, filled with large chunks of lamb and onions~~

Not the best solution, but it's acceptable, Hampton by Hilton Hami
This last stop of my trip to Xinjiang was taking a train from Urumqi to Hami and staying at the Hampton by Hilton Hami. The hotel is located on the southern edge of the city, about three to four kilometers from the train station.
There is a fountain in front of the hotel, and the reception lobby has a strong classical ambiance with very new facilities, as it is said to have just opened this year. However, during the evening peak period, there was surprisingly only one staff member at the front desk, which led to complaints from guests. The staff member responded by saying that this was the company's policy. After waiting for about half an hour, it was finally my turn. I asked if there was an upgrade available for the room type, but was told that the hotel was fully booked for the day.
The room layout is very compact, with the few highlights being two floor-to-ceiling windows with a clear view, and a Hampton smart voice TV that is not very sensitive.
All public facilities are located on the third floor. The breakfast is quite rich, with no highlights but also no disappointments. The fitness center is small and not very cool due to the strong lighting. Next door, there is a self-service laundry room, but it's not easy to use it whenever you want.
More than the hotel itself, the municipal construction issues in front of Hami train station deserve more criticism. After leaving the station, the path planning is chaotic, and pedestrians and vehicles are intermingled. It seems that both taxis and ride-hailing cars deliberately take detours around this area. I had to drag my luggage a long way and still couldn't get a ride. In the end, out of desperation, we rode shared electric bikes to the hotel.
Previously, I often saw comparisons of the pros and cons of Hilton's three budget-friendly brands: Garden, Homewood Suites, and Hampton. During this trip to Xinjiang, I happened to stay at the Garden in Aksu, Homewood Suites in Kuqa, and Hampton in Hami within a week. Based on this experience and previous stays at the three brands, Homewood Suites generally has larger rooms, followed by Garden, with Hampton being the smallest. In terms of breakfast quality, Hampton is close to Garden, while Homewood Suites is somewhat lacking. There are hardly any differences in other aspects. As for the treatment of Diamond members, it's just an upgrade of the room.

The most practical guide to the Hami Sea Route
1. What kind of car can cross the Sea Route? The answer is that sedans can make it, but to avoid scraping the chassis, driving a sedan requires constant steering adjustments, which is very tiring. We drove a city SUV and went straight up to 40 mph following the tire tracks, and we didn't scrape the chassis at all.
2. What navigation should be used for the Sea Route? Amap is recommended, but tests show that Baidu Maps can navigate directly from the Lianhuo Expressway in Turpan towards Hami to the north gate of the scenic area. The first 20+ kilometers are paved with height restriction bars and have full signal coverage, so you can confidently drive over 60 mph. The next 20+ kilometers are gravel roads where the signal may drop occasionally, but if you follow the tire tracks, the signal comes back. To go towards Hami, you can exit the expressway through the fence gap at the Liandun parking area, saving over 20 kilometers.
3. How to play in the scenic area? Drive from the north gate all the way to Tongtian Cave. After exiting, the tire tracks to the left lead to the extraterrestrial scenic spot, and to the right is the main road to the water source. Not far from the water source, there is a fork in the road; to the right is the Mars Base, and to the left is the Pterosaur Grand Canyon to the Red Willow Beach. After Red Willow Beach, the next 80 kilometers are paved, and you can drive all the way to the east gate.
4. What supplies should be prepared? First, fill up the tank at the last service area on the expressway, 'Yiwanquan', where you can refuel. Also, prepare some water and dry food in case of emergencies. If you want to go off-road, you should also prepare tools for vehicle recovery.
5. How long does it take to play? Coming from Turpan or Shanshan, you should prepare for a whole day. For accommodation, you can choose the Red Willow Beach inside the scenic area or the Pterosaur Grand Hotel at the east gate, or you can choose to stay in Hami or Shanshan if you're willing to travel a bit further.

Experience the desolate and bleak feeling
The Dahai Route is the shortest road between ancient Dunhuang, Hami, and Turpan. Its opening and use began in the Han Dynasty, and after the Tang Dynasty, the official use gradually ceased, and the Dahai Route gradually faded from people's view, becoming a historical memory of the ancient Silk Road. The Silk Road, as an ancient channel connecting Eastern and Western civilizations, has always been the focus of academic attention due to its significant role in the history of human civilization exchange. With the deepening of academic research, most sections of the Silk Road have gradually unveiled their historical veils, but the specific route of the Dahai Route is still buried in the dust of history.

The story of the Gobi Shoal
Xinjiang is a place where just wandering around, you can fall in love with the scenery along the way. At some point, we came to a Gobi shoal. Having never seen it before, we decided to stop and take a look, maybe snap a photo for a keepsake.
After getting out of the car, the view that greeted us was a shallow Gobi hiding a meandering little river. This scene, never seen before, was particularly precious. Looking at it, we thought about setting up camp right there, grabbing some snacks and beer, and just drinking while waiting for the sunset, not wanting to leave.
The flocks of sheep and herds of cattle by the roadside are a characteristic of this place, creating an especially harmonious picture. The mentality of food lovers is to slaughter one and roast it for a meal. Coming to Xinjiang, one must not waste their taste buds.
The air here is exceptionally fresh against this beautiful backdrop. Take a breath, and it's refreshing to the core. Unexpectedly, it became the favorite of us travelers, and perhaps also the favorite of the locals, because they don't boast much. The simple folks will tell you, this is all natural!
Alright, I've remembered this beautiful scene. Throwing a few stones into the river, we playfully competed to see whose stones could skip further. What a delightful jest!
After a brief rest, we continued on our way, with more beautiful scenery ahead to be continued~

The first stop after entering Xinjiang | Xinjiang·Hami!
| Xinjiang·Hami!.🎈"The ancient gateway of the Central Plains, the old Yiwu, once had a powerful vassal stationed here".
Upon arriving in Xinjiang, the first thing that catches the eye is the boundless Gobi Desert. Passing through the Gobi, you arrive at Hami City, located in the eastern part of Xinjiang. As an important town on the ancient Silk Road, Hami's geographical position is very important, and it is known as the "Eastern Gate" of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, also referred to as the "throat of the Western Regions, the passage of east and west".
🎈If you have half a day's time, why not explore the four attractions within 500 meters.
Hami King's Mansion
The Hami King's Mansion was the residence of the Uyghur leaders in the Hami region after the Qing Dynasty. It was built in 1706 by the first Hami King, Ebeydulla, who invited Han craftsmen to design and construct it, and it was rebuilt on the basis of the original Mongolian King's Mansion. After several generations of renovations and expansions by the Hami Kings, the mansion reached its peak size of "over a hundred acres". Due to its grand architectural style, it is known as the "Little Forbidden City of Hami". (Admission fee 35 yuan)
Hami King's Mausoleum
The Hami King's Mausoleum is a group of tomb buildings for the Hami Kings and their family members throughout history. It is a famous Islamic architectural site in Xinjiang, with a square base and a round top. Covering an area of 13,000 square meters, it is a mausoleum complex that integrates various styles. As one of the highest level architectural works in the Hami region of the Western Regions during the Qing Dynasty, it has great artistic value and historical significance. (Visiting alone might feel a bit eerie, and there are fewer tourists this season, so I did not enter the tomb) (Admission fee 18 yuan)
Hami City Museum
Its architectural appearance alone is enough to attract attention. Coming out of the King's Mansion, you can see the museum across the street. Inside, you can see a wonderful display of dinosaur fossils and other exhibits! And admission is free.
Aleltun Ancient Street
This place is very suitable for taking photos and checking in. Perhaps because it is the off-season, some shops have not yet opened. But all the buildings display the unique characteristics of the Western Regions.
🎈(In Hami City, if you have time, you can also go to these places to check in and take photos. The whole trip only takes two to three hours, and it is also very close to the city center. Additionally, the Hami King's Mansion is not Hui, but Uyghur)

Explore the frontier
The boundary, like the horizon, always tempts people to explore the secrets behind it. The history of mankind is an epic of constantly crossing boundaries. From continents to oceans, from the Earth to space, boundaries are not only geographical limits but also frontiers of cognition.

2023 Western Self-Driving Tour—Day50 Dahaidao
📆2023-10-16 Monday The 50th day of the western self-driving tour
🚙Itinerary: Sandaoling—Dahaidao—Hami
📍Dahaidao
🔷Dahaidao is the only uninhabited area in the country that can be legally crossed.
🔷It is currently the most complete, magnificent, and most valuable Yardang landform in the country and even the world.
🔷The Dahaidao ancient castle group, with the tallest reaching over a hundred meters, is the world's tallest Yardang landform, with hardly any rivals.
💰Ticket price is 45, free for military personnel, half price 20 for military family members.
🚙Self-driving car 100.
20 kilometers away from the scenic area, you start entering the gravel road, which is in terrible condition and extremely bumpy.
Once inside the scenic area, there is another 36 kilometers of gravel road, but it is a bit better than the 20 kilometers outside the scenic area.
The scenic area is very large, and it really shows what an uninhabited area is like. For a long time, there were no other tourists, no other cars, no signs, no signals, just us running around headlessly like flies.
With a hand-drawn map, we roughly followed the directions below and 'thump thump thump thump' ran dozens of kilometers of gravel roads, checking in at various attractions.
North Gate—Yardang Murals—Dragon Turning Head—Tongtian Cave (popular spot)—Water Source—Mars Base—Pterosaur Grand Canyon—Red Willow Beach—Aisikexial Ancient Castle—Double-headed Horse—Hanhai Shenturtle—Check-in at the main gate
✅North Gate
✅Yardang Murals
The 'Yardang Murals' are about 3 kilometers long, with heights ranging from 8 to 15 meters. Rich in various fossil remains, the shapes are strange and varied, and it is a natural art gallery of Dahaidao.
✅Dragon Turning Head
It seems like a piece of the dragon's mouth has fallen off
✅Tongtian Cave
The most popular check-in spot in the Dahaidao scenic area‼️
The Yardang blends with the sky, and it is said that a variety of fossils have been found on the small Yardang piles scattered around. A team of experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences once discovered the first dinosaur footprint fossil in the Dahaidao scenic area here.
Just a casual shot is like a blockbuster, and it can be used as a magazine cover!
✅Water Source
The only place in the scenic area with water and greenery!
The water temperature is around 20°C all year round, and the water is rich in sulfur, carbon, and other minerals. ❌Not drinkable but has antibacterial and disinfecting effects.
✅Mars Base
✅Pterosaur Grand Canyon
About 20 kilometers of 'thump thump thump thump' washboard road, with a very vivid name—Pterosaur Grand Canyon. Driving here will make one involuntarily doubt whether they have a masochistic tendency, with dozens of kilometers of non-stop 'thump thump thump thump thump thump...'
✅Red Willow Beach
✅Aisikexial Ancient Castle (Ancient Castle + Ancient Ruins)
🔹'Aisikexial Ancient Castle' means 'old city' in Uyghur, and this place is the only site on the 500-kilometer Dahaidao section of the ancient Silk Road from Dunhuang to Turpan that can prove human activity.
🔹The 'Aisikexial Ancient Tomb Site' is located on a sand ridge about 200 meters northeast of the ancient castle, with irregular tomb distribution. In 1999, 32 tombs were excavated and cleared in a rescue operation, and three mummies and more than 130 artifacts were unearthed. It dates back to the Shang and Zhou dynasties, about 3200 years ago.
🔹This area has discovered the rare Hami pterosaur fauna and the world's first three-dimensional pterosaur egg, confirming that this is the largest distribution area and the most concentrated burial of pterosaur fossils in the world.
✅Double-headed Horse
It also looks very similar
✅Hanhai Shenturtle
It's really too similar, but the eyes seem to be artificially added.
✅Finally, check-in at the main gate
Today's sixty or seventy kilometers of washboard road, with dust flying, was even more severe than the past dust storms, covered in dust, and one must rinse their mouth before eating. The car was in such a bad shape, and there was no place to wash it, truly a sorry sight.
🌌Stay overnight in Hami, today is the last day in Xinjiang

Crossing the Dahaodao: Picking up stones all the way from Dunhuang to Hami
The Dahaodao is the shortest ancient road between Dunhuang and Turpan. Spanning over 500 kilometers from Dunhuang to the west towards Turpan, it constitutes the most legendary section of the Silk Road - the Dahaodao. This area is home to ancient castles, beacon towers, post stations, prehistoric human habitation sites, fossil mountains, mirages, wild camel herds in the desert, and many rare geographical features. Along the way, there are also many places where you can pick up stones, and if you're lucky, you might even find some particularly fine Jinsiyu!

Unmissable Poplar Forest Scenery in Hami
The Poplar in Yiwu, Hami, Xinjiang is the oldest poplar species in the world today, known as the 'living fossil'. It has an extremely strong vitality, with an astonishing ability to resist drought, wind and sand, and tolerate salinity and alkalinity, hence it is praised as the 'desert warrior'. Due to the hardships of life and the difficulties of growth, it has honed the strong and persistent personality of the poplar, which can live for a thousand years without dying, stand for a thousand years after death, and remain immortal for ten thousand years. A place worth visiting.
Worth visiting scenery.

Hami Yiwu Fantasy Color Lake is a lake that can forecast the weather
Hami Yiwu County Fantasy Color Lake
The reason why the Fantasy Color Lake is colorful is because it will show different colors with the change of weather. It is said that it is blue when the weather is clear, green and red when the sun sets, and light red copper color can be seen on rainy days. It is said that local herdsmen call the Fantasy Color Lake the "Weather Forecast Lake", often jokingly saying that they need to look at the Fantasy Color Lake when they go out.
The magic of the Fantasy Color Lake, in addition to changing colors, is that the Fantasy Color Lake has neither an outlet nor an inlet, and is completely formed by underground spring water. The lake water contains a large amount of salt mines and mirabilite.
In front of the Fantasy Color Lake, there is a vast grassland, where herds of cattle and sheep gather, forming a spectacular view of the wind blowing the grass and seeing cattle and sheep.
The magic of Xinjiang lies in its changeability and full of surprises. As long as you have a heart, you will always see the appearance of Xinjiang in your mind here.

The Yadan Devil City in the northwest gives you a peaceful winter
Dunhuang Yadan landform, the Great Sea Road
From a vast ocean to a barren land where no grass grows
Rough and mysterious, niche and wild
It is the romantic trace left by billions of years of plate movement
It is the 'living history book' scattered on the Silk Road
It is the barren Great Sea Road. Covered with rubble and quicksand, the precipitation here is very low, the groundwater is very scarce, the climate is extremely arid, presenting a desert scene everywhere, it is one of the areas with the strongest continental climate in the world. The Yadan landform is like a palace, like a door of time and space. The moment you approach, they turn into talking gravel. Wind, light, clouds and sky are intertwined, like a romantic projection.
In this silent world
Only the beating scenery and the agile colors
Driving off-road vehicles through the stone pillars standing on both sides, driving from one barren land to another with a calm heart
It's like coming to the earth billions of years ago
The boundless desert is irresistible with its magnificent and mysterious charm.

Hami Devil City
Hami Devil City, also known as Wubao Devil City, is located in Wubao Township, Hami City, about 90 kilometers away from the city. It is a geomorphological feature formed by wind erosion. Its terrain starts from the camel peak of the smokestack, passes through the Yaman iron mine, the Da Nan Lake coal mine, and extends to the thirteen rooms of the Wubao Shar Lake, with a total length of about 400 kilometers and a width of about 5-10 kilometers.
In Hami Devil City, you can see various landscapes that resemble castles, halls, pagodas, monuments, characters, birds and beasts, as well as dazzling steep cliffs, colorful agates, ubiquitous silicified wood, fresh plant fossils, and occasionally visible dinosaur egg fossils, marine fish fossils and bird fossils. When night falls, sometimes you will hear the ghost crying and howling, so it is called "Devil City" by people.
In addition, there are also ancient castle buildings and ancient residential sites in Hami Devil City - Aisikexiaer ancient castle. The castle is located on a wind erosion platform about 6 meters above the ground. It is a rectangular rammed earth building about 5 meters high, with doors and windows in front, which is a post station on the ancient Silk Road or the southwest outpost of the Hami dynasty.

Xinjiang Hami's first exploration of the uninhabited area, sensing the unknown mystery
I never really thought I would reach the uninhabited area. When Teacher Cheng said that he was going to explore the uninhabited area in Xinjiang, various questions would arise in my heart. Is there really no one in the uninhabited area? How big is the uninhabited area? Are there any animals? When we entered the uninhabited area and suddenly there was no signal, we really felt the charm of the uninhabited area.
Wildness, passion, and mystery explain the secrets here. It is said that this place used to be a sea. With the movement of the earth's crust, it has become a desolate uninhabited area after hundreds of millions of years of weathering. Along the way, you can see various styles of Yardang landforms, which are particularly shocking. This area also includes the Lop Nur area.
🔸【Attraction Experience】
Although this is the only legally traversable uninhabited area in China, safety must also be paid attention to.
1. The entire uninhabited area is particularly large. Because there is no signal throughout the journey, we chose locals as the team leader this time. While ensuring safety, we also have rich experience in crossing the uninhabited area. It is recommended to bring a satellite phone for easy contact in case of any incidents.
2. One section is a well-built road, and one section is a "wild road" (the original gravel road), safety must be paid attention to.
3. The overall temperature of the uninhabited area will be higher than that in the city, and the temperature difference between morning and evening is relatively large, so be sure to keep warm.
🔸【Route】
The entire trip was two days and one night. We entered from the east gate and exited from the north gate. We arrived in Hami, passing through Hongliutan, Pterosaur Grand Canyon, water source, Echo Wall, Eye of Lop Nur, and stayed at Hongliutan Tourist Center. The hotel has internet.
🔸【Attractions】
Hami Dahaigou Scenic Area
🔸【Precautions】
1. The entire uninhabited area is part of Lop Nur, and the route must be planned in advance to avoid getting lost due to no signal after entering. This time we followed the group, and the team leader took us to safer and more photogenic places, saving us a lot.
2. On the road, I didn't see any replenishment points. It is recommended to bring some simple food.
3. Be careful when taking pictures at the attractions. Some places are steep, so be sure to act according to your ability, safety first.
4. You can wear red, black and other clothes, which will make the photos more outstanding.

Traveling to Xinjiang, if you choose one place for 'nature' and 'humanity', where would you recommend
I'll say a natural one.
If you go further out of Hami, you can reach Dahuangdao and even deeper uninhabited areas.
Share the photos I took when I went to Xinjiang before, and you will understand.
The place I went to the most in 2021 should be Xinjiang. Multiple trips to the uninhabited areas of Xinjiang for shooting made me fall in love with this magical land.
So I think the best set of photos I took this year was shot in Xinjiang.
First, two mobile phone shots of the desert, the first one was shot in the afternoon, the sand patterns, which have been blown by the wind for many years, caused the texture on the sand dunes to look exceptionally good.

Hami Grand Highway/ A wilderness travel destination with a sense of interstellar travel
Always have to make a trip to Xinjiang Grand Highway.
Crossing the uninhabited area, the place on earth that most resembles the fire house, the Tongtian Cave in the dream!
Xinjiang Hami City Grand Highway Scenic Area: The Grand Highway is a little-known road through the uninhabited area, named after the large sand sea, also known as the Sand Sea Road.
Here gathers ancient castles, beacon magnets, post stations, prehistoric human habitation sites, Fossil Mountain, mirages, desert wild camel groups, and many rare geographical landforms of the Grand Highway, being roasted by 45 degrees of high temperature still feels not enough, because Hami Grand Highway is really awesome!

I want to stay at the Hami Hotel for N times
The hotel in Hami where I have stayed for N times is the Hami Hotel. As the reception hotel of the Hami City Government, it is of course the best hotel in Hami. It is the largest garden-style four-star tourist hotel in Hami, located on the bank of the East River Dam in the city center with elegant environment and fresh air.
After checking into the hotel, the overall feeling is very great, from the room facilities, the service consciousness of the service staff, the taste of the restaurant's meals are all very good, especially the beef 🥩 in the buffet restaurant is really delicious, friends who like to eat beef 🥩 hurry up.
