A luxury hotel... that's surprisingly budget-friendly!
If you're visiting Harbin and craving a "premium and comfortable stay" without breaking the bank, Sofitel Harbin is the place to be.
This is a world-class hotel brand with a touch of French luxury. From the moment you step inside, you can feel the elegance and tranquility of a 5-star property. The spacious lobby is beautifully decorated, exuding effortless sophistication.
The rooms are definitely my favorite part. The beds are so soft and plush that you won't want to get up! The rooms are incredibly spacious with plenty of functional space. The night view of Harbin is absolutely stunning; the city lights instantly give the room a warm and cozy vibe.

Living My Imperial Royal Prince Dream at a Chinese Palace Banquet 👑🏮
Sometimes I miss the version of me that felt like an imperial prince sitting quietly while intricate dishes were placed before me one by one, every movement graceful, every detail intentional. Like I was part of a Gongyan scene, surrounded by elegance, tradition, and a kind of stillness that doesn’t exist anymore. It wasn’t just about being served it was about being transported into another world. I miss the prince i felt like i was one true king 👑✨
🏮 What an imperial banquet (“Gongyan”) actually is
The term you’re referring to—Gongyan (宫宴)—literally means “palace banquet.” These were lavish feasts held in imperial China, especially during dynasties like the Tang Dynasty, Ming Dynasty, and Qing Dynasty.

Escaping Thailand to Europe…but actually just staying in China! 🇨🇳
Who would believe that in Harbin there's a place that feels like you've been transported to Russia?
This is the Hagia Sophia Cathedral in Harbin, a magnificent red brick church with a green dome that's a must-see landmark in the city!
The first impression upon entering was amazement. The church is much larger and more striking than I expected. Especially if you go in winter… the white snow contrasting with the red brick is breathtaking! ❄️✨
There are so many photo opportunities!
📸 Straight-on shot = classic.
📸 Walking past = gives a candid European feel.
📸 Evening shot = the golden light reflecting off the church is stunning.
I recommend going in the evening to experience both the golden hour and the nighttime lights, creating an even more romantic atmosphere. 💡 #MustSeePlace

5-Day Harbin Trip Plan
📍Trip Overview
- A relaxed, easygoing trip with lots of tasty food, and the weather wasn’t too cold.
🚩Getting There
We traveled on a promo ticket from Bangkok to Harbin, round trip. On the outbound flight, we had a 2-hour layover in Guangzhou, and on the return flight, a 2-hour layover in Shenzhen. We flew with China Southern Airlines, which included meals, drinks, and 23 kg of checked baggage.
🏖️Must-Visit Attractions
1. Central Street / Zhongyang Pedestrian Street (中央大街): A historic European-style pedestrian street.
2. St. Sophia Cathedral (圣索菲亚大教堂): A famous Russian Orthodox church.
3. Sun Island Scenic Area (太阳岛风景区): Sun Island, known for its snow sculpture displays. But when we went, the ice festival had already ended, so we took the cable car to enjoy the view of the still-frozen river.
4. Songhua River (松花江): A river that turns into an icy playground for winter activities.
6. Laodaowai Baroque Block (中华巴洛克历史文化街区): An old town district with Baroque-style architecture.
6. Harbin Pharmaceutical Group Sixth Pharmaceutical Factory
7. Hongzhuan Street Morning Market
🚇Getting Around
This time, we used Didi for every stop on the trip. It was very affordable, around 9–15 yuan per ride.
🍜Recommended Food
· You have to try the boiled fish with pickled mustard greens. It was sooo delicious.
🏠Recommended Place to Stay
This time, we stayed at East Hotel. It was really great—close to Zhongyang Street and close to the church.
💡Things to Keep in Mind
· Make sure to prepare your internet access well. You’ll use it a lot, all the time.

Harbin Ice and Snow World Chill Guide ❄️🧊☃️
Our visit to the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival was an unforgettable adventure. While the area may be relatively compact, it dazzles with stunning ice structures and a few thrilling rides that beckon for exploration. However, be forewarned—if you wish to enjoy the rides, you must reserve them a day in advance. Trust me, you don’t want to end up wandering among the enchanting, yet similar, ice buildings, feeling chilly and unoccupied.
I was genuinely looking forward to the rides and am still eager to experience them, especially the world’s longest ice slide, which has received rave reviews.
The mall features a selection of restaurants, but it’s always bustling as visitors flock there to warm up.
So, dress warmly, bring a good camera to capture the magic, and immerse yourself in the wonder of the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival.
Just a tip: try to avoid visiting during the holidays, especially during Chinese New Year (learn from my mistakes🤪), as the crowds can be overwhelming. #winterescape #familytravel #china #couplestrip #harbin #harbinicefestival #ice #snow #winter #holiday #thingstodo

Yansha Outlets in Beijing🛍️✨
#beijing
✨ Yansha Outlets (Beijing) is one of the most famous outlet centers in Beijing, worth including in your travel shopping plan.
🗺️ What is it?
✔ A large outlet complex consisting of 3 buildings (A, B, C) with brands of clothing, footwear, sporting goods, and accessories.
✔ Over 100-600 international brands (Nike, Adidas, Hugo Boss, Swarovski, etc.).
✔ Cafes, restaurants, and services (currency exchange, gift wrapping, etc.) are available.
💡 Benefits for travelers:
🔹 Excellent selection of brand-name items in one place 🧥
🔹 Can be combined with a stroll through the Chaoyang district and other shopping spots.
🔹 Large spaces – convenient for leisurely shopping.
🔹 Check for promotions and discounts in advance to get the best deal 💸.
⚠️ Important to know:
❗ Some tourists note that prices aren't always much lower than in other countries—it's important to compare before buying.
❗ Reviews are mixed: some are satisfied with the selection, while others consider it a regular shopping center rather than a classic outlet.
❗ The best time to visit is weekdays in the morning or afternoon, as there are fewer people and potentially better discounts.
🕐 Hours: Usually 9:00 AM–10:00 PM daily.
📍 Ideal for:
✔ Brand lovers 🏷️
✔ Family travel 👨👩👧
✔ Daytime shopping between attractions 🛫
📌 Tip
If you're looking for the best deals on brands, prepare a wish list in advance and check prices when trying them on—in China, "outlet" doesn't always mean big discounts 💡
✨ Happy shopping in Beijing! 🛍️

Courtyard dedicated to a Russian engineer in Harbin
If you turn into one of the alleys on Zhongyang Street, you can find yourself in a mysterious European-style courtyard, reminiscent of Diagon Alley from Harry Potter. It is called Shock Courtyard.
Once, a Russian engineer lived here, who in 1924 paved Harbin's Arbat with the famous cobblestones (the very ones that, according to legend, cost a silver dollar each). In honor of this man's contributions, the place where he lived was renamed after him.
However, finding information about him turned out to be quite a challenge—some sources refer to him as Komtrad Shock, while a more plausible version of his name is Komtrachuk.
The Russian internet and articles about Harbin seem to have no record of his name! This surprised me, and I suspect that the name might not be Komtrachuk but Kondrachuk. Ultimately, I couldn't find a biographical article about the man who, by the way, created the longest pedestrian street in Asia!
Today, this place attracts Harbin's creative youth—with unique cafes, beautiful lighting, and live music on weekend evenings (presumably in warmer weather than March).
How do you like it?

The main street of Harbin🏮
Today I decided to take a day without a GPS and just stroll along Zhongyang Street (中央大街), a pedestrian street often compared by locals to Moscow's Arbat. And you know, there really is a resemblance—but with a vibrant oriental flair!✨
📍Where is it?
Zhongyang Dajie Street is in the center of Harbin. It stretches for a whopping 1.4 km from Defenders of the Soviet Union Square to the Songhua River.
🚇 How to get there?
Take Line 2 of the metro to Zhongyang Dajie Station. A single ride costs between ¥2 and ¥5.
You walk past the buildings and find yourself wondering: where am I? There are Baroque mansions, Byzantine domes, and Chinese signs with hieroglyphs. The Russian influence is evident in every corner, but the Chinese interpretation looks amazing🏰🏯
💵A stroll along Arbat Street is completely free, but I recommend bringing some yuan to visit the shops and sample incredible Harbin pastries, seafood, and buy designer items, as this street is home to the coolest stores in the city!
🕐The street is accessible at any time of day, but I recommend visiting early in the morning, when the crowds aren't yet crowded, or late in the evening, when it's already dark and the street is lit up with beautiful lights.
📸Tip: Don't forget your camera to take incredible photos.

Nighttime Chinese Baroque
Chinese Baroque — a time machine. Here, time seems to have stopped at the beginning of the last century. Narrow streets, weathered yet majestic facades adorned with columns and stucco, intriguingly blended with Chinese carvings and red lanterns. Architecture you won't find anywhere else: Europe meets the Middle Kingdom. 🏯🎆
How to get to these streets:
🚇By metro: Take Line 1 or Line 3 to Taipingqiao Station, then walk to the pedestrian street (about 10 minutes).
🚌From the city center (near the Sofia Cathedral stop), tourist double-decker buses go directly to the Baroque area. Tickets cost ¥30, and you can hop off at different streets. The ticket is valid for the entire day.
📍Note: There are several bus routes, and the ticket is only valid for one route.
✨Be sure to explore every alley to witness the unique beauty of the place!
🪆Bring yuan to buy various beautiful souvenirs and enjoy delicious food!

Ready to visit the Harbin Louvre?
Presenting the Hayaolu Engraving Museum, also known as Harbin Pharmaceutical Factory No. 6.
The building's architecture is inspired by the French Louvre, blending Baroque, Rococo, and Neoclassical styles. Honestly, it reminded me more of the Hermitage and the old palaces of St. Petersburg.
🏛️ Construction was completed in 2004.
Several floors are open for visitors.
💠 1st Floor
Features a grand crystal chandelier, luxurious sculptures, and a magical fountain where you can toss a coin and make a wish 🤫.
Shops offer ice cream, souvenirs, and even the chance to rent a princess or empress dress for an incredible photoshoot in these interiors ❤️.
💠 4th Floor
Showcases pharmaceutical manuscripts from the 1960s, old medicine production equipment, and archival materials. Learn more about the development of pharmaceuticals in China. Harbin Factory No. 6 was once a significant part of the country's early industrial development, playing a key role in shaping the industry as we know it today. The so-called 'Harbin Pharmaceutical Model' is about creating recognizable local brands.
💠 5th Floor
Exhibits Chinese engravings and oil paintings by Russian artists ❤️. It's quiet and peaceful here, perfect for leisurely enjoying the art.
________________
🏛️ Free admission!
🕐 Open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, usually closed on Mondays.

Why My China Trip Was Unforgettable ❄️ (Harbin JW Marriott Stay)
#chinatrip
My #chinatrip was absolutely amazing, and it wouldn't have been the same without our luxurious stay at the JW Marriott in Harbin! 🏨✨
From the moment we walked in, we were treated like royalty. The service was impeccable, the room was stunning with breathtaking floor-to-ceiling views of the Songhua River, and it was the perfect cozy retreat after long days exploring the winter wonderland. ❄️
If you're planning a trip to Harbin, do yourself a favor and book this hotel. It's the perfect blend of comfort and luxury after braving the cold! 🧣

The JW Marriott is perfectly positioned for both exploring Harbin's top attractions and enjoying peaceful natural scenery.
Location
The hotel is located on the north bank of the Songhua River in the Songbei District . It's known as a "scenic hotel" and offers a more modern and tranquil setting compared to the bustling city center across the river. A unique feature is that 95% of the rooms offer panoramic views of either the river or the city, and in winter, you can even see the Ice and Snow World from your window .

Dream Bookstore in Harbin
📖 Zhongshuge is a chain of unique bookstores in China, known for its futuristic architecture.
One of them is located in Harbin, inside the Jinjue Wanxiang Commercial Plaza, near Haxi Wanda Plaza (look for the large KFC on the first floor). The store was designed by the Shanghai-based studio X+Living, which focuses on creating value through design.
Ⓜ️ Line 3, Kaishengyuan Plaza, Exit 3
It takes about 40 minutes to get there from the city center. After some active shopping, it's a delight to slow down, stroll along the bookshelves, and enjoy a coffee at the café located right inside the store👌. There are plenty of spots to settle down with a book or laptop.
The arched structures, lighting, unique materials, greenery, the aroma of hot drinks, and the crisp sound of new book spines make this place a haven to get lost in.
You can also take photos here, but keep it quiet 🤫.
While there are no books in English or Russian, you can pick up postcards, music boxes, and charming pins as souvenirs.

Harbin's Unusual Baroque Street
A very beautiful and interesting place for a stroll, just like the Arbat in the city center.
It's a pleasant place to stroll both during the day and in the evening, and you can find something interesting at any time of day.
The street is currently decorated with lanterns and other displays dedicated to the New Year.
During the day, it's worth strolling to admire the unusual building facades, architecture, and signs, and in the evening, enjoy the street illuminated.
In the evening, the street takes on a new look when all the lanterns are lit, the lights are on, literally every bench is lit, and music is playing 💫
There are many places to eat along the street, as well as numerous takeaways, and the aromas waft from literally every corner.
We decided to try the waffles with ice cream (pictured in the carousel) - they were delicious, we highly recommend them!
Grab a coffee, some waffles, and take a leisurely stroll... 💫 truly pleasant and romantic moments!
Keep in mind that it can get crowded in the evenings, especially on weekends. So the best time (at least for me) is on a weekday ☺️
Save a spot for a visit!

Living Your Princess Dream in Harbin! 👑🇨🇳 (Hong Men Yu Yan Experience)

Stepping into a historical drama for dinner! 🥢✨ Dressed in royal attire and dining like a true princess at Harbin's Hong Men Yu Yan. The food, the vibes, the fit 10/10 experience. 🇨🇳👸
The moment I stepped through the doors of Hong Men Yu Yan, the modern world melted away. It wasn't just a restaurant; it was a portal back in time. Soft, amber light danced across intricate wooden carvings, and the air hummed with the gentle strumming of a guzheng.
But the magic really began when I got to trade my coat for silk robes. Choosing my "Prince" look was harder than I expected—every gown was more beautiful than the last! Once dressed, I wasn't just a tourist anymore; I was a guest of honor at a royal feast.
Seated at a low table, I watched a breathtaking cultural performance unfold as dish after dish arrived. Each bite was a story, each flavor a new chapter. For one night, surrounded by history and incredible food, I wasn't just watching the story—I was a part of it. A modern-day girl, living out his ancient prince dream in the heart of Harbin. ✨

Little Russia in the heart of Harbin
While strolling through the bustling and modern city of Harbin, you might unexpectedly stumble upon a corner of old Russia 🏛️🇷🇺
This majestic cathedral with emerald domes is no longer active, but inside it now houses a museum preserving the history of the Chinese Eastern Railway and the pages of Russian presence in Manchuria.
🎟️ Admission to the cathedral costs ¥25 for adults, and on Mondays, it's ¥15.
Surrounding the cathedral is a cozy park. Right behind the cathedral, there's a souvenir shop offering Russian paintings and souvenirs featuring the cathedral itself.
📍Tip: Don't buy souvenirs right behind the cathedral; walk a bit further, and you'll find significantly lower prices!

POV: You oversleep for the Emperor's lunch.
Woke up late and literally ran through the gates of the palace like a concubine who missed breakfast 😂🏃♀️. Made it just in time to trade my bed hair for a dynasty hairstyle and catch the show! The food? Fit for an emperor. The panic? Fit for a comedy sketch. 10/10 experience, 2/10 time management.
