France travel guide and discussion

Have you ever found yourself in a situation while traveling abroad where you needed cash but didn't know how to use an ATM? This guide summarizes the basic steps for withdrawing cash from an ATM overseas using international debit cards such as Wise or Revolut. ___ STEP 1 | Find a Compatible ATM First, find an ATM that accepts your card brand. Choose an ATM with the Visa logo if you have a Visa card, or the Mastercard logo if you have a Mastercard. Some ATMs may not accept international cards, so it's recommended to check before inserting your card. ___ STEP 2 | Select Withdrawal at the ATM After inserting your card, select your language and enter your PIN. Then, select a withdrawal option such as "Cash Withdrawal." The screen display and operation order may vary depending on the ATM, but the basic steps are the same. ___ STEP 3 | Enter the Amount and Select "Local Currency" This is a particularly important point. After entering the amount you want to withdraw, select "Local Currency" on the currency selection screen. For example, in the Eurozone, the currency is EUR (Euro). If you choose to convert to your local currency, such as Japanese Yen (JPY), the ATM's exchange rate may be applied ("DCC (Dynamic Currency Conversion)"). If you want to use the card's exchange rate, such as with Wise or Revolut, it's best to select the local currency. ___ STEP 4 | Don't Forget Cash, Card, and Receipt Once the withdrawal is complete, ・Cash ・Card ・Receipt Don't forget to take these three items. Also, some ATMs may charge a separate fee from the ATM operator. It's recommended to check the transaction amount, fees, and total amount displayed on the screen before confirming. ___ STEP 5 | Check Wise and Revolut Fees and Free Limits ATM fees and free limits vary not only by card company but also by the plan you use and the ATM operator. Wise and Revolut free limits and fees may change, so check the latest information on their official websites or apps before traveling. ___ The most important thing to remember when using an ATM overseas is: "Choose the local currency." If the ATM displays a message like, "Do you want to receive your money in Japanese Yen?", check the details before making your selection. Since the screen displays vary from ATM to ATM, the key is to operate it calmly while checking the information. Checking the procedure once before your trip will give you peace of mind when you're there.

Also, some stores may only accept cards issued in Korea, but this is becoming less common in tourist areas. ___ 📍Regarding the prices in the image The image shows example amounts in Japanese Yen (JPY) for Japanese travelers. Wise supports not only Japanese Yen, but also: ・USD (US Dollar) ・EUR (Euro) ・GBP (British Pound) ・AUD (Australian Dollar) ・CAD (Canadian Dollar) ・SGD (Singapore Dollar) ・TWD (Taiwan Dollar) ・HKD (Hong Kong Dollar) ・KRW (South Korean Won) It supports over 40 currencies, including those listed above. Since you can exchange currency from your country of residence to the required currency, it is a convenient card for travelers from countries other than Japan. *Exchange rates are constantly fluctuating, so please check the latest rates in the app before exchanging currency. ___ When traveling abroad, what's more important than "which country you go to" is "whether you can travel to multiple countries with one card." I hope this is helpful for those considering a Wise card. Rising out of a vast bay where Normandy meets Brittany, Mont Saint-Michel is a tidal island commune crowned by a Benedictine abbey dedicated to the Archangel Michael. Originally founded in the 8th century by Bishop Aubert of Avranches following reported celestial visions, the rock evolved into a major medieval pilgrimage destination and an impregnable military stronghold that repelled multiple English assaults during the Hundred Years' War. At high tide, the surging waters cut off the granite outcrop from the mainland, creating a floating citadel above wide mudflats. The Abbey of Mont Saint-Michel (Abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel): The structural apex of the island, balancing three architectural tiers on top of a granite pyramid. Entering requires climbing through the Grand Degré staircase into the Romanesque abbey church. The top open terrace, the West Platform, offers sweeping views across the salt marshes and the sweeping curves of the Couesnon River. La Merveille (The Marvel): The 13th-century Gothic section flanking the northern face of the abbey. The crown jewel is the Cloister, featuring a double row of staggered granite columns designed to frame sky and ocean views, adjacent to the atmospheric monks' Refectory and the vaulted Knights’ Hall (Salle des Chevaliers). The Ramparts Walk (Les Remparts): Starting behind the king's gate, this elevated stone parapet winds along the fortified southern and eastern defensive walls. Walking the battlements bypasses the crowded central street below and provides clear vantage points of watchtowers such as Tour Gabriel and Tour du Nord looking over the tidal flats. Grande Rue: The single, narrow cobbled lane ascending through the medieval village from the main gates to the abbey foot. It is packed with 15th- and 16th-century half-timbered merchant buildings, souvenir shops, and heritage eateries, including the famous Auberge La Mère Poulard, renowned for its open-hearth wood-fired soufflé omelets made since 1888. Tidal Bay Crossing (Traversée de la Baie): Walking barefoot across the exposed seabed at low tide. Led strictly by certified local nature guides, treks depart from the Bec d'Andaine or Saint-Léonard to navigate soft mudflats, cross shallow river channels, and safely skirt the treacherous pockets of moving quicksand (sables mouvants). Tidal Dynamics and Supertides (Crucial Timing): The bay of Mont Saint-Michel experiences the greatest tidal range in continental Europe, rising up to 14–15 meters between high and low water. During peak spring tides (tidal coefficient of 100 or higher), the water completely submerges the surrounding sand and covers the access esplanade, turning the mount into a true island for roughly 1 to 2 hours. Check the official Marees (Tide Tables) before traveling. Arrive at least 2 hours before the calculated high tide to witness the water rushing in across the flats "at the speed of a galloping horse." Getting to the Mount (Passeur Shuttle vs. Footbridge): All private vehicles must park at the mainland parking hub (P1–P13) situated 2.5 kilometers south of the rock. From the transport hub, free electric shuttle buses called Le Passeur run continuously, dropping passengers off roughly 400 meters from the island gates. Alternatively, walking across the curving pedestrian footbridge takes roughly 40 to 50 minutes, offering unimpeded wide-angle views as the abbey looms closer. Abbey Entry & Reservation Rules: The village streets and defensive walls are open 24/7 with zero admission cost. Entering the abbey itself requires a paid entry ticket with a timed-entry reservation. Book online in advance during spring and summer to avoid lengthy ticket lines at the upper portal. Getting Here from Paris: Take the high-speed TGV train from Paris Montparnasse to Rennes (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes). From Rennes railway station, direct regional express buses run straight to the Mont Saint-Michel visitor hub (approx. 1 hour 10 minutes). Alternatively, regional trains run seasonally from Paris Montparnasse to Pontorson, followed by a direct 15-minute connecting shuttle. Footwear and Physical Demands: The interior of the mount contains over 350 stone steps and steep, uneven cobbled inclines; it is not suited for wheeled luggage or standard strollers. Wear supportive walking shoes with non-slip soles. If participating in a guided bay mudflat walk, do not wear sneakers; walk barefoot in neoprene booties or water shoes, and carry a small towel to rinse off clay and silt at mainland footwash stations. Seasonality and Daily Rhythm: Day-Tripper Waves: The village is heavily congested between 10:30 AM and 04:30 PM. Stay overnight in the village or visit in the late evening after 06:00 PM, when daytime tour buses depart and the village alleys are lit by warm lanterns. Autumn & Winter: Atmospheric and quiet with moody sea mists, though strong Atlantic gales and cold winds require heavy thermal outerwear. #MontSaintMichel #VisitNormandy #FranceTravel #ExploreFrance #MedievalCitadel #GothicArchitecture #TidalIsland #UNESCOWorldHeritage #TripMoments #travel2026#travel#myitinerary

Set along the Alsatian Wine Route in northeastern France, Colmar preserves eight centuries of Germanic and French architectural fusion. Spared extensive destruction during both World Wars, its compact Old Town (Vieille Ville) is a labyrinth of cobblestone streets lined with 14th- to 17th-century half-timbered houses (colombages) painted in pastel blues, ochres, and pinks. Centered around the winding Lauch River, the town balances historic craft traditions, rich culinary institutions, and immediate access to the vine-covered foothills of the Vosges Mountains. La Petite Venise (Little Venice): The scenic waterway quarter lining the Lauch River south of the historic center. Once home to market gardeners, tanners, and wine producers who navigated the shallow waters in flat-bottomed boats, the area is best viewed from the Pont Saint-Pierre and the bridge on Rue Turenne, where flower-boxed timber facades reflect directly into the water. The Fishmonger's District (Quai de la Poissonnerie): Connecting Little Venice to the Tanner's Quarter, this riverside street was the historic hub of the fishermen's guild. The brightly painted multi-story houses here feature steep gables, exposed timber framing, and iron shop signs typical of Renaissance Alsace. Maison des Têtes (House of the Heads): Built in 1609 in the German Renaissance style, this distinct stone mansion takes its name from the 106 grotesque carved heads and stone masks adorning its oriel window and gable facade, crowned with a bronze cooper statue sculpted by Auguste Bartholdi (creator of the Statue of Liberty, who was born in Colmar). Pfister House (Maison Pfister): Located along Rue des Marchands, this 1537 residence represents Colmar's architectural transition into the Renaissance. It features an ornate two-story wooden corner gallery, an octagonal turret, and exterior murals depicting biblical scenes and Germanic emperors. Unterlinden Museum (Musée Unterlinden): Housed in a former 13th-century Dominican convent linked to a modern wing by Herzog & de Meuron. It holds the world-renowned Isenheim Altarpiece, painted by Matthias Grünewald and carved by Nikolaus Hagenauer between 1512 and 1516, recognized as a masterwork of Northern European Renaissance sacred art. Collégiale Saint-Martin: The grand collegiate church standing in Place de la Cathédrale, constructed between 1235 and 1365 from distinctive pink and yellow sandstone quarried in the Vosges. Look up at the south portal to spot the detailed Gothic carvings and storks frequently nesting atop the high tiled roof. Getting Around (Walking vs. Canal Boats): The entire historic core is heavily pedestrianized and best explored on foot. The distance from the main train station to Little Venice is roughly 15 minutes at an easy walk. Electric Flat-Bottomed Boat Tours: Board near the Pont Saint-Pierre for a quiet 25-minute cruise along the Lauch River (approx. €10 per person). Boats glide under low bridges and into the green fringes of the Krutenau market garden district. Transit Connections (Strasbourg & Basel Gateways): By Train (TER Fluo Grand Est): Frequent regional express trains connect Strasbourg to Colmar in just 30 minutes, and Basel (Switzerland) to Colmar in roughly 45 minutes. By Air: The closest international hubs are EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL/MLH) and Strasbourg Airport (SXB), both linked by regional rail corridors. The Alsatian Wine Route & Neighboring Villages: Colmar serves as the central hub for day excursions into surrounding fairytale wine villages: Eguisheim (7 km south), Riquewihr (14 km north), and Kaysersberg (12 km northwest). During peak months and the Christmas season, regional tourist shuttle buses (like the Kutzer Kutsch or Navette de Noël) run circuits linking Colmar directly to these surrounding fortified hamlets. Regional Culinary Specialties: Step into a traditional Alsatian tavern (Winstub) to sample Tarte Flambée (Flammekueche)—a thin flatbread layered with fromage blanc, crème fraîche, smoked lardons, and onions, baked crisp in a wood-fired oven. Other local staples include Choucroute Garnie (fermented cabbage simmered with Riesling and various cured pork cuts) and Baeckeoffe (a slow-cooked casserole of beef, pork, and lamb marinated in white wine and baked with sliced potatoes). Pair with local dry white wines: Riesling, Gewurztraminer, or Pinot Gris. Seasonal Windows: Late Spring to Autumn (May to October): Long daylight hours, colorful window flower boxes filled with red geraniums, outdoor terrace dining, and regional grape harvesting in September/October. Late November to Late December (Christmas Markets): Colmar hosts one of Europe’s most famous festive transformations, with six distinct themed Christmas markets spread across historic squares, illuminated timber facades, and seasonal food chalets. Book hotels 3 to 6 months in advance for December weekends. January to March: Quiet and cold with shorter daylight hours; many smaller shops and boutique restaurants take annual winter closures. #Colmar #Alsace #VisitFrance #LittleVenice #AlsaceWineRoute #LaPetiteVenice #TravelEurope #FairytaleTown #TripMoments

Save your itinerary for a future trip! 🇫🇷 #Paris #France #ParisTravel

update some information~ During the tour of Sotheby's Hong Kong recently, "Iris Flower" caused a stir, and the flow of people making pilgrimages was overcrowded. A month later, Monet's late masterpiece was finally held in Paris. The Iris started at €16 million and attracted at least six telephone commissions to compete. After a 45-minute bid, the auctioneer hammered €43 million, which was won by the Asian client of the number “122” on the phone of Huazhen (Vice Chairman of Asia and Chairman of China). After calculating commissions, The Dove sold for about €50.05 million (HK$440 million; NT$1.83 billion), making it the most expensive painting in French auction history. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ' The exhibition at Sotheby’s flagship gallery in Central focuses on the rare masterpiece of French Impressionist master Claude Monet in his later years, Iris, making its first full-color appearance in Asia. Exhibition highlights~ Created between 1924 and 1925, Monet’s work in his later years in the Garden of Giverny, measuring about 160×180 cm, is one of the largest and most core masterpieces surviving in his “Iris” series (about 20). The painting captures the feeling of iris intertwined with water and light in the garden with purple-dimmed light and shadow and abstract brushstrokes, approaching abstract expression, showing the ultimate exploration of light and shadow, nature and feeling in later years. For nearly a century, it has been in the collection of the Schlumberger family in France and has never been publicly exhibited, leaving only a record of black and white photographs; The exhibition is part of the Asian preview section of Sotheby’s Paris “Le Temps Retrouvé: The Schlumberger Collection,” featuring works by Monet, as well as other Impressionist/modern masters such as Renoir and Chagall. The exhibition runs from September 22 to 27, 2026 (today until this Sunday), followed by another tour, and will eventually be shot in Paris on October 22. At the same time, Sotheby’s Hong Kong also had a preview of modern and contemporary art auctions (until the 29th), which took place from the 28th to the 29th in a lively atmosphere with frequent queues. Sotheby’s Maison itself is a large cultural space in Citi’s Chater, Central, with a bright, professional environment suitable for admiring authentic works up close. Admission is free (generally public exhibitions), but queues may be required during peak hours. Transportation point to ~ Address: Sotheby’s flagship art gallery at Landmark Chater, 8 Connolly Road, Central. MTR: Exit E of Central Station, about 2–5 minutes walk (very convenient after exiting the station along the pedestrian passage/flyover towards Citi Plaza/Chater Road). Bus/Taxi: Several bus lines pass through Connolly Road Central or Chater Road, get off and walk a short distance; taxis can directly say "Central Chater Sotheby's". Ferry: About 5 minutes walk from Central Pier. Driving: Parking and valet parking are available at Citi Plaza. Opening hours are generally 11am to 7pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 6pm on Sundays and public holidays (it is recommended to confirm the latest arrangements before departure, as there may be fine adjustments during the auction preview). If you love Impressionism, want to see authentic Monet works and other masters all at once, these are the best days to visit – the exhibition is only until the 27th, after which you will have to wait for the Paris auction. It is recommended to go earlier on weekdays or during off-peak hours for a better experience!

Today, I'd like to introduce the abundant dining options at the Silks Place Taroko Resort, Hualien. For dinner, we dined at the hotel's Wesley Buffet Restaurant. The food selection was so extensive, let me introduce them one by one. Stepping into the restaurant is a carnivore's paradise! There were honey mustard roasted plum blossoms and herb-roasted Dijon beef, accompanied by a variety of delicious side dishes – quite a treat! Then, it's a carbohydrate lover's paradise! Choices included cabbage focaccia, sesame chili French bread, mentaiko cheese bread, country sourdough bread, and fruit gluten-free cake. Terrain options included bitter melon salad with pig's head skin, passion fruit chicken breast salad, smoked duck, honey-glazed roasted pork, hibiscus vinegared squid salad, and East Coast seafood salad. Iced seafood included clams, squid, mussels, shark meat, shrimp, and enoki mushrooms. The cold dishes include smoked salmon, premium fresh mushrooms, pomelo-flavored lotus root, herb-flavored tomato and scallop salad, a cheese platter, and various frozen meats. A large selection of fresh vegetables and ready-to-cook noodles are also available for a hot and delicious meal. The fruit section offers a wide variety of incredibly fresh produce, and the salad bar is overflowing with a wide selection of fresh ingredients. The hot food section is very extensive, starting with dishes such as garlic tomato seafood stew, Ma Gao's salt-baked lamb ribs, Xiulin sweet potato and shrimp pasta, steamed chicken with preserved meat, truffle egg bricks, curry beef brisket, steamed garlic fish, loofah in golden broth, bamboo shoot and pork, a mixed platter of seafood, minced pork, indigenous millet pudding, Xilu vegetables, tree bean and pig's feet soup, Ji'an taro and wild mushroom soup, daylily and onion soup, and quinoa rice. The restaurant thoughtfully includes a vegetarian section! The menu includes lotus leaf-wrapped glutinous rice rolls, vegetarian shumai, Malay cake, crystal vegetarian dumplings, cold daylily and wood ear mushroom salad, peeled chili peppers with fresh mushrooms, sesame okra, vegetarian minced meat, three-cup chicken with monkey head mushrooms, crispy fried sesame balls, green bean sausage, firm tofu, steamed and roasted cabbage, and quinoa vegetable soup. The dessert section is equally impressive, boasting a wide variety of delicious treats! These include pistachio Opera cake, passion fruit tofu mousse, cheesecake, mango pudding, cherry cheesecake, matcha yokan, handmade cookies, tapioca pearl winter melon jelly, Basque cheesecake, corn puffs, and heart-shaped pastries. Finally, there are six flavors of Häagen-Dazs ice cream available for all-you-can-eat. The self-service beverage area also offers a wide selection! In addition to coffee and tea, there are juices and soft drinks available for unlimited consumption. After the introductions, it's time to enjoy the food! Dad and I, with our hands and feet, grabbed a food tray to share the simple joys of food. During the meal, the chef even served us several delicious side dishes – so sweet and thoughtful! One of our group members was celebrating their birthday, so we formed a "melon-themed group of four"! The group members even arranged the fruit to resemble a birthday fruit – such a thoughtful gesture! After enjoying the abundant desserts, we were indescribably satisfied. This was my first time having a buffet dinner in Taiwan, and it felt very different from Hong Kong! Especially since the restaurant offered mostly fresh mountain ingredients, it was truly amazing. This buffet experience was excellent, and we will definitely remember the delicious mountain flavors.

If you want to discover a different side of Paris—one with narrow winding streets, cozy cafes, local artists, and breathtaking city views—be sure to add Montmartre to your itinerary. Perched on a hill, this historic district feels worlds away from the grand boulevards. It’s filled with charming alleys, historic homes, and endless photo opportunities. 📍 What to See in Montmartre? 🎡 The Montmartre Funicular If you’d rather skip the hundreds of steps, take the funicular near Sacré-Cœur. It links the base of the hill to the basilica’s plaza. You can use a standard Paris transit ticket for the ride. The lower station is located right by the Anvers metro station. 🤍 Sacré-Cœur Basilica The crown jewel of the district is this stunning white basilica atop the hill. Even if you don’t plan to go inside, it’s worth visiting for the architecture and the panoramic views of Paris. Entry to the basilica is free, though there is a fee to climb the dome. 🎨 Place du Tertre – The Artist’s Square Just a short walk from the basilica, you’ll find this lively square where artists paint portraits and display their work, capturing the spirit of old Paris. It’s a lovely spot to sit in a cafe, watch the artists at work, or even commission your own portrait. 🌸 La Maison Rose – The Famous Pink Cafe One of the most recognizable corners in Montmartre. This pink house on a picturesque corner has long been a favorite for photographers. Address: 2 Rue de l’Abreuvoir. 🚶 Rue de l’Abreuvoir – One of Paris’s Most Beautiful Streets Be sure to stroll down this street with its cobblestones, lush greenery, and old-world houses. You can really feel the village atmosphere that Montmartre once had. ❤️ The Wall of Love (Le Mur des Je t’aime) A wall featuring "I love you" written in over 300 languages and dialects. It’s a quick stop, but a charming addition to any walk through the neighborhood. Address: Square Jehan Rictus, Place des Abbesses. 🔴 Moulin Rouge The iconic cabaret with the red windmill is another famous landmark located at the foot of Montmartre. You can simply admire the exterior and take photos, or book tickets in advance if you want to see a show. Address: 82 Boulevard de Clichy. 🗺️ Best Way to Explore Montmartre I recommend taking the funicular up and then slowly walking down as you visit the sights. Your Ideal Route: 1️⃣ Anvers Metro → Funicular lower station. 2️⃣ Funicular → Sacré-Cœur Basilica. 3️⃣ Place du Tertre (Artist’s Square). 4️⃣ The picturesque streets of Old Montmartre. 5️⃣ La Maison Rose (The Pink Cafe). 6️⃣ Rue de l’Abreuvoir. 7️⃣ The Wall of Love near Abbesses Metro. 8️⃣ Moulin Rouge – if you still have the energy. 💡 Quick Tip: It’s not all downhill! Montmartre is full of stairs and uneven pavement, so wearing comfortable shoes is essential. ⏰ How Much Time Do You Need? I’d set aside 3–4 hours for a stroll. This should be enough time to see the main sights, take photos, and wander without feeling rushed. If you plan to have lunch or attend a show, you’ll need more time.

If you think the only beautiful spots in Paris are palaces, museums, and world-famous landmarks, head over to the Luxembourg Gardens. The vibe here is completely different: less hustle, more greenery, and a feeling that you’ve truly stepped into the Parisian way of life for a moment. 🏛 What is this place? The Luxembourg Gardens were established in the 17th century by order of Marie de' Medici, wife of King Henry IV. She dreamed of a palace and garden that would remind her of Florence. Today, it’s one of Paris’s most famous parks, covering about 25 hectares. It’s a favorite spot for locals to stroll, students to relax, and friends to meet up and read. 🌸 Highlights to check out: 🪴 Medici Fountain — A beautiful historical spot featuring a pond and sculptural composition. It’s one of the most romantic corners of the park. 🏰 Luxembourg Palace — The majestic building for which Marie de' Medici originally envisioned the complex. It now houses the French Senate. 🗿 Sculptures and Fountains — Statues of historical figures, queens, and literary heroines are scattered throughout the garden. 🌳 French Garden — Symmetrical alleys, manicured flowerbeds, and stunning views. A great place for a stroll and photos. 💚 So, is it worth visiting? In my opinion, definitely! Especially if you plan on exploring the Latin Quarter: the garden is a convenient stop to take a break from the city noise. But it’s important to understand: this isn’t a theme park or an open-air museum. The main value of the Luxembourg Gardens is its atmosphere. You don’t come here for high-intensity sights, but rather for the chance to slow down and enjoy Paris. 📌 Things to know before you visit: · Entry is free. · 30–60 minutes is enough for a walk. · It’s especially beautiful in sunny weather. · It’s great for kids, too: there are playgrounds and a pond with toy sailboats. · Opening hours change depending on the season. 📍 Address: Jardin du Luxembourg, 75006 Paris. Perched atop Montmartre hill, the Sacré-Cœur Basilica is one of the most iconic landmarks in Paris. Visitors flock here not only for its stunning architecture but for the breathtaking panoramic views of the entire city 🇫🇷 🏛️ Highlights: ▫️ The Snow-White Basilica. It was built using travertine—a unique stone that secretes calcite when it rains, allowing the facade to maintain its bright white hue. ▫️ Half a Century in the Making. Construction began in 1875 and the basilica was finally consecrated in 1919. Its design seamlessly blends Romanesque and Byzantine styles. ▫️ A Massive Interior Mosaic. Don't miss the "Christ in Glory" mosaic, covering roughly 475 m²—one of the largest in the world. ▫️ Panoramic Views of Paris. You can enjoy the view from the square in front of the basilica or climb even higher to the dome. On a clear day, the vista of Parisian rooftops is truly spectacular. 🎟️ Admission: · Entry to the Basilica: Free. · Dome Access (Adults 16+): €8. · Dome Access (Children under 16): €5. 👣 The Climb: To reach the dome, you’ll need to navigate 280 steps up a spiral staircase. There is no elevator, so be prepared for a bit of a workout. 📸 Nearby Attractions: Don’t leave as soon as you finish your visit! Wander through Montmartre, check out the artists at Place du Tertre, find the famous "Le Mur des Je t’aime" (Wall of Love), and soak in the atmosphere of the local cafes. 💡 Pro Tip: Arrive in the morning to avoid the crowds for photos, or come at sunset for a truly magical atmosphere. 🚠 How to Avoid the Stairs: Take the Montmartre Funicular—it will whisk you up to the basilica in about 90 seconds. 📍 Funicular Lower Station: Near Square Louise-Michel, at Rue Tardieu. 🚇 Nearest Metro: Anvers (Line 2). It’s about a 2-minute walk from the station to the funicular. 📍 Address: 35 Rue du Chevalier de la Barre, 75018 Paris. 🎫 Note: The funicular requires a standard public transport ticket.

It is one of the most iconic symbols of Paris, standing for over 850 years. These photos show Notre-Dame before the 2019 fire. But do you know what happened to the cathedral and how much it has changed after the restoration? ✨ 5 Interesting Facts About Notre-Dame 🏛️ 1. It took nearly 200 years to build! Construction began in 1163, with the main stages completed in the 14th century. Just imagine how many generations of craftsmen worked on this architectural masterpiece! 📚 2. Victor Hugo made the cathedral famous. In 1831, the author published the novel "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame." The story of Quasimodo and Esmeralda drew global attention to the monument and helped spark interest in preserving Gothic architecture. 🗿 3. The gargoyles aren't just for decoration. The famous stone figures on the facade serve a practical purpose: many of them act as waterspouts, channeling rainwater away from the walls. 🌹 4. The cathedral features its famous rose windows. These massive circular stained-glass windows with intricate patterns are true masterpieces of medieval art. They survived the 2019 fire, though other parts of the cathedral suffered severe damage. 👑 5. Napoleon was crowned here! In 1804, Napoleon Bonaparte's coronation as Emperor of the French took place at Notre-Dame. Interestingly, he placed the crown on his own head while the Pope looked on. 🔥 What changed after the 2019 fire? On April 15, flames engulfed the cathedral's roof. The 19th-century spire collapsed, and the wooden roof structures were almost entirely destroyed. But was Notre-Dame successfully restored to its former glory? 🔹 The spire has been rebuilt. It was recreated based on historical designs and now towers over Paris once again. 🔹 The roof was reconstructed. Craftsmen restored the wooden structures using traditional techniques. 🔹 The facade remains virtually unchanged. The famous towers, portals, and sculptures have kept their iconic look. 🔹 The cathedral is now brighter. After an extensive cleaning, the stone surfaces look significantly cleaner and lighter than before the restoration. 🔹 The interior has also been refreshed. Following massive restoration efforts, Notre-Dame reopened to visitors in December 2024. ✨ So, was it successfully restored nearly 1:1? The exterior has been brought as close as possible to its historical appearance, including the restored spire. 🎟️ How much is admission? Entry to the cathedral is free! You can make a free reservation in advance on the official website to plan your visit. While booking isn't mandatory, it can help reduce your wait time. 📍 Address: 6 Parvis Notre-Dame – Place Jean-Paul II, 75004 Paris, France. ❤️ Notre-Dame is a stunning example of how a world-renowned monument can be brought back to life and preserved for future generations. Did you see the cathedral before the fire, or have you visited since the restoration?

A childhood dream come true. 🎢 Must-sees: · Sleeping Beauty Castle—the park's icon. · Disney Stars on Parade—a colorful daytime parade featuring your favorite characters. · Disney Tales of Magic—an evening show with music, light effects, and projections on the castle. · Rides you love. I adore roller coasters; my favorites are Big Thunder Mountain and Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain. 🎡 There are two parks: 🏰 Disneyland Park—fairytale worlds, classic rides, and the famous castle. 🎬 Disney Adventure World—adventures in the worlds of Pixar, Marvel, and film. 🎟️ How much are tickets? · Admission to one park starts from approximately €77 per adult. · Admission to two parks starts from approximately €112 per adult. The price depends on the date of your visit. Check the official website for current prices. Children under 3 are admitted free. 💡 5 tips before your trip: 1️⃣ Choose a main park. If you only have one day, I recommend focusing on Disneyland Park. It's home to Sleeping Beauty Castle, classic rides, a daytime parade, and an evening show. It's best to allocate two days for both parks. 2️⃣ Arrive 15-30 minutes before opening to avoid long lines. Start with Big Thunder Mountain and Peter Pan's Flight (for children)—these popular rides often have long lines. Also, lines become shorter in the afternoon (after 4:00 PM). 3️⃣ Reserve your seats for the parade early. This will give you a better chance of seeing the characters without interruption. 4️⃣ Can I bring my own food? Yes, you are allowed to bring your own food and drinks, but there is a separate area outside the parks for picnics with larger containers. 5️⃣ Choose a restaurant in advance. Walt's — An American Restaurant is perfect for a full dinner, while Bistrot Chez Rémy will delight you with the atmosphere of the movie "Ratatouille." It's best to book in advance for popular restaurants. 🚆 How to get there: Take the RER A to Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy station — it's right at the park entrance. 📱 Helpful tip: Download the official Disneyland Paris app. You can find show schedules, opening hours, and wait times for rides there. 📍 Address: Boulevard de Parc, 77700 Coupvray, France. ❤️ Save this post before your trip to Paris—it'll come in handy when planning! #france #paris #disneyland #disneylandparis

Did you know that a Louvre ticket for tourists from outside the European Economic Area costs €32? For that price, you can see the Mona Lisa, famous ancient sculptures, royal jewels, and luxurious palace interiors. 🖼️ But is the Louvre really worth the money, and what should you definitely see inside to ensure you don't waste a whole day? Let's find out! 👇 🔺 The Louvre's glass pyramid is one of the symbols of Paris. Opened in 1989, it was designed by architect Io Ming Pei. The structure stands 21.6 meters tall. Initially, this modern pyramid was controversial: many felt it didn't fit with the historic palace. Today, however, it attracts millions of tourists! 🏛️ What's a must-see inside? 🎨 1. Mona Lisa The Louvre's main attraction is this enigmatic portrait by Leonardo da Vinci. The painting is located in the Salle des États and is protected by special glass. Interesting fact: the canvas measures only about 79 x 53 cm! Despite its modest size, a crowd of visitors almost always gathers around it. 💍 2. Apollo Gallery One of the museum's most beautiful halls, with luxurious decor, gilding, and a painted ceiling. The French royal jewels are kept here. The interiors themselves deserve special attention. 🗿 3. Ancient Egypt Sarcophagi, sculptures, everyday objects, and artifacts dating back thousands of years. An excellent opportunity to learn about the history of one of the most ancient civilizations. 🏺 4. Ancient Greece and Rome This is where famous ancient sculptures are housed, including the Venus de Milo—one of the most recognizable examples of ancient Greek art. 🪽 5. Victory of Samothrace The famous marble sculpture of the winged goddess of victory, installed on the Daru staircase. Impressive even for those who are far from art! 🖼️ 6. French Painting Large-scale historical paintings, portraits, and works by French masters. Note Théodore Géricault's "The Raft of the Medusa" and Eugène Delacroix's "Liberty Leading the People." 👑 7. Napoleon III's Apartments Luxurious interiors with gilded furniture, crystal chandeliers, and rich decor. A completely different side of the Louvre—not only the paintings and sculptures, but also the atmosphere of imperial France. ✨ Fun fact: The Louvre was originally a medieval fortress, then became a royal palace, and opened as a museum in 1793. Golden sculptures, elegant lamp posts, and breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower 🇫🇷—Pont Alexandre III is easily one of the most Instagrammable spots in Paris. But behind its opulent decor lies a fascinating history! ✨ 5 Facts About Pont Alexandre III 1. A Symbol of Franco-Russian Friendship 🇷🇺🇫🇷 The bridge is named in honor of Tsar Alexander III of Russia. Its construction symbolized the Franco-Russian Alliance formed at the end of the 19th century. 2. The Foundation Stone was Laid by Nicholas II In 1896, the groundbreaking ceremony was performed by Emperor Nicholas II—son of Alexander III, the bridge’s namesake. 3. Built for the World’s Fair The bridge was officially inaugurated in 1900 for the Paris Exposition Universelle. It became a stunning landmark for the city, connecting the Champs-Élysées area to the Les Invalides district. 4. Is it really pure gold? ✨ Not exactly! The sculptures and decorative elements aren't solid gold. That brilliant shine comes from gold leaf (gilding), which gives the bridge its regal and celebratory appearance. The four monumental pylons are topped with golden Pegasuses and allegorical statues representing France across different historical eras. 5. One of Paris's Best Photo Ops 📸 The bridge offers some of the best views of the Eiffel Tower, the Seine, and the Dôme des Invalides. It’s particularly magical at sunset when the golden details catch the light. 📍 Location: Pont Alexandre III, 75008 Paris, France. 💡 Pro Tip: Pair your walk across the bridge with a visit to the Champs-Élysées, Place de la Concorde, and Les Invalides. Experience one of Normandy's most breathtaking sights, where history, nature, and architecture blend into pure magic: Mont-Saint-Michel. This stunning abbey, perched on a granite island amidst the sea, is a proud UNESCO World Heritage site. The atmosphere here is absolutely soul-soothing. The island's natural layout is perfectly framed by the rugged coastline, the vast ocean, and lush green meadows that catch the crisp, cool breeze—making it the ultimate spot to unwind and recharge. 🌊 The true masterpiece of this journey is the charming stone-block pathway that winds around the abbey. Following the safety rails up the tiered steps, it’s a favorite for those who love a scenic stroll. For the perfect photo op, try capturing the view from a high vantage point or at eye level, looking across the still water. When the light hits just right, the water acts like a giant mirror, reflecting the abbey in a golden, sun-kissed glow. 📸 Plus, look out for the adorable flocks of sheep grazing on the salt marshes—a delightful sight that welcomes every visitor. · This iconic island abbey sits off the west coast of France. Getting here is a breeze: just take the TGV (high-speed train) from Paris Montparnasse to either Rennes or Dol-de-Bretagne, then hop on a shuttle bus directly to the site. Visiting Paris and not seeing the Eiffel Tower is practically impossible! But to take beautiful photos and see its famous twinkle, it's worth knowing a few secrets. 📸 Where is the most beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower? 📍 1. Trocadéro One of the best photo locations! It offers a panoramic view of the entire tower. It's especially beautiful at sunrise, sunset, and in the evening when the lights come on. Keep in mind that it's crowded with tourists. 📍 2. Bir-Hakeim Bridge A great spot for atmospheric shots: the tower is visible through the bridge's structure, and a beautiful view of the Seine opens up nearby. This makes for stunning photos and videos. 📍 3. Champ de Mars The park at the foot of the tower. You can get really close, have a picnic, and admire the illumination from a unique perspective. 📍 4. Rue de l'Université One of the popular photo locations, where the tower rises beautifully above the Parisian streets. Perfect for photos with the atmosphere of old Paris. 📍 5. The Seine embankment near the Pont Alexandre III For those who love elegant architecture and romantic Parisian landscapes. The beautiful bridge, lanterns, golden details, and views along the Seine create a special atmosphere. A great place for a leisurely stroll and spectacular photos as a souvenir of Paris. ✨ When does the Eiffel Tower start blinking? After dark, the tower is beautifully illuminated, and at the top of every hour, the twinkling illuminations turn on. ⭐ The twinkling lasts about 5 minutes. For example, if it gets dark around 8:00 PM, you can see the twinkling lights at 8:00 PM, 9:00 PM, 10:00 PM, and later, while the tower is in evening mode. Important: The time of the first twinkling light depends on the season and the onset of darkness. The illumination schedule is subject to change, so it's best to check it before your visit. 💶 How much does it cost to go up the Eiffel Tower? Ticket prices for adults: 🔹 Walk to the second floor - €14.80 🔹 Elevator to the second floor - €23.50 🔹 Elevator to the top - €36.70 🔹 To the summit: walk to the second floor, then take the elevator - €28 Children under 4 are free, but they also need a ticket. Reduced rates are available for children aged 4–11 and youth aged 12–24. There are 674 steps leading to the second floor. Walking up the stairs is a great way to save money, but be mindful of the physical strain. You can't climb all the way to the top; you'll first have to climb the stairs to the second floor, then take the elevator. 🎟️ My advice: if you want to save money, take the stairs to the second floor. If you want to see Paris from the highest point, get a ticket to the summit. And for the most beautiful photos, arrive at the Trocadéro or Champ de Mars just before sunset and stay until the first twinkling light. This way, you'll see the tower both in daylight and under the evening illuminations! #france #paris #eiffeltower

Japanese izakaya Gonpachi Hong Kong is celebrating its 13th anniversary with a specially curated 13th Anniversary Selection Dinner! As a lover of Japanese cuisine, I am once again in for a treat. 😋 I recently visited Gonpachi with a friend to be among the first to preview the 13th Anniversary Selection Dinner! It was actually my first time visiting since they moved to Lee Garden Two, but the familiar entrance still feels as welcoming as ever. 🏮 Gonpachi and An Nam will co-host a one-night-only "Gonpachi & An Nam 13th Anniversary Celebration Party" on October 23rd, starting at 6:00 PM on the 3rd floor of Lee Garden Two, Causeway Bay. The evening will feature a series of exciting activities including a Kagami Biraki (sake barrel breaking) ceremony, a floral-themed photo area, and game stalls. There will also be free giveaways of exquisite omamori charms and eco-friendly bags. One of the major highlights is a live Bluefin Tuna carving and tasting session—it sounds absolutely thrilling! 🐟 Upon sitting down, I started with a refreshing drink! I chose the sweet and sour Yuzu Soda, which was incredibly crisp and not overly sweet. It was a great start. 🍹 The 8-course menu is spectacular, featuring appetizers, sashimi, a signature dish, charcoal-grilled items, steamed dishes, sushi, soup, and dessert. Let's start with two appetizers to wake up the palate. Foie Gras and Fig Monaka with Akazake! The portion of French foie gras was very generous. Slow-cooked with Kumamoto Akazake, it was silky smooth and fragrant. The light crunch of the monaka wafer paired with the sweet fig jam was simply delicious. 🦢 Oyster Shigureni! The plump seasonal oyster was cooked in the "shigureni" style, causing a burst of natural oyster aroma and intense sweetness in every bite. 🦪 The sashimi platter included Tuna Belly, Smoked Bonito, and "Yushimo" Blue Angel Shrimp! 🍣 Blue Angel Shrimp "Yushimo" style! Using the Yushimo technique where near-boiling water is poured over the shrimp, it creates a "frosted" appearance on the outside while remaining raw inside. This gives the sashimi a unique texture—slightly firm on the outside and wonderfully creamy on the inside. 🦐 Smoked Bonito! The fish was smooth with a deep smoky aroma, and its rich, savory flavor was truly captivating. Tuna Belly (Otoro)! Rich fattiness has always been the hallmark of tuna belly. I love pairing it with shiso leaves, which adds a lovely fragrance and helps cut through the richness. Slow-cooked Awaodori Chicken Roll and Matsuba Crab Cake with Shiitake! This is a fantastic signature dish. The low-temperature slow-cooked chicken roll is stuffed with chives and carrots; it's incredibly tender and balances meatiness with the sweetness of vegetables. 🍗 It also features the signature Matsuba Crab Cake! Filled with crab meat mixed with milk, it’s crispy on the outside and tender inside. Dipping it into the slightly spicy crab roe sauce makes the flavors even more vibrant. 🦀 Mille-feuille Wagyu and Pork Skewer with Bamboo Shoots! This skewer is a delightful battle between beef and pork. Layered together and grilled over Binchotan charcoal, it's topped with basil sauce and salmon roe. One bite releases a burst of savory juices. Don't miss the sweet miso-glazed bamboo shoots at the bottom—so refreshing! 🍢 Smoked Abalone with Shiso and King Oyster Mushroom! The presentation is elegant and very fresh. 🐚 The abalone is steamed with Japanese sake and kombu! The texture is remarkably soft, infused with the essence of the sea and a smoky finish. The king oyster mushrooms are wrapped in crispy shiso leaves, adding a touch of herbal fragrance to the dish. The sushi selection features Black Rockfish, Seared Ginga Salmon, Kombu-wrapped Sea Urchin, and Charcoal Grilled Mackerel Oshizushi. Each piece is unique and highly anticipated. 🍣 Black Rockfish (Kurosoi)! Although leaner, the meat is firm. The sushi rice enhances its freshness, and the grated radish with ponzu adds a perfect zesty touch. Seared Ginga Salmon! Topped with mayo and blue seaweed powder, the aroma after searing is intense. Combined with fried leeks, it offers a completely different salmon experience. Kombu-wrapped Sea Urchin (Uni)! High-quality uni wrapped in kombu preserves its delicate texture while accentuating the rich flavors of the ocean. Charcoal Grilled Mackerel Oshizushi! The seared mackerel has a wonderful charred aroma. Paired with the firm texture of the pressed sushi, both the mouthfeel and flavor are excellent. Silken Tofu Sea Bream Soup! The thick, milky white sea bream soup is incredibly savory and rich in collagen (leaving your lips feeling sticky, a sign of its quality). No matter how full you are, don't miss this. 🥣 Coconut Milk Pumpkin Shiratama Dango! Tasting this signature dessert again still feels sweet and lovely. The sweet pumpkin puree is paired with coconut milk, vanilla ice cream, chewy dango, Tokachi red beans, and almond flakes. You can imagine how rich the textures are. 🍨 Gonpachi (Tsim Sha Tsui branch) will also host a "Classic Canto-pop Night" during dinner hours (9:30 PM - 1:00 AM) on October 24th. The atmosphere is sure to be enchanting—don't miss it if you're interested! 🎤 The 13th Anniversary Selection Dinner is priced at $1,888 for two (+10%), while 1957 & Co. members can enjoy a special price of $1,688 for two (+10%). It is available during dinner service at both the Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui branches from now until November 30th. 🗓️

He wanted to commemorate the victories of the French army and glorify his soldiers. However, the project was not completed during the emperor's lifetime. Construction continued for almost 30 years, and the grand opening took place in 1836, under King Louis-Philippe.
