Apricot blossoms in many parts of Shandong have entered their peak blooming period, with the best time for flower viewing from late March to mid-April. The Zhangxia Ten-Thousand-Mu Imperial Apricot Garden in Jinan stretches for thirty miles, with a sea of pink and white flowers creating a poetic scene of "thirty miles of apricot blossoms in one color." In Shixia Village, apricot blossoms cover the hills and wrap around rustic farmhouses, offering a quiet and healing atmosphere. Qianfoshan Mountain, Laiwu Woyunpu, and Shanghe Huairenwa Licun ancient apricot forests each have their unique charm. In Qingdao's Chengyang Shaoshan Community, 100,000 apricot trees are scattered across the mountains, with special varieties like "Shaoshan Red" adorning the green hills; Laoshan apricot blossoms bloom along the mountains, reflecting the lush greenery and streams; places like Chaoran Village in Xifu Town and Laohushan Park bloom in succession. In Zibo, Boshan Jiulongyu, Nanlu Town, and Tanxi Mountain Scenic Area feature elegant apricot blossoms fluttering, harmonizing beautifully with the unique mountains and waters. In Yantai, the Ten-Mile Apricot Blossom Valley in Muping winds along the valley for dozens of miles, while General Valley and Longkou Nanshan Scenic Area paint a pastoral picture with apricot blossoms and smoke from farmhouses. In Weifang, Qingzhou Apricot Blossom Village and Linqu Songshan Beihuanggu Ancient Apricot Forest bloom like clouds and rosy clouds, with red and pink gradually blending like drifting snow. In Jining, the apricot blossoms at Qufu Xingtan and Nishan Sacred Site complement ancient buildings, blending Confucian culture with floral shadows; Liangshan’s "Ten-Mile Apricot Blossom Village" and Zoucheng Shanwo Village fully display the cultural spring atmosphere. Rizhao Wulian Tuoshigou hosts flower viewing season events, where apricot blossoms are arranged with varying density among mountain villages and farmhouses. In Linyi, Datianzhuang in Feixian, Zhugé Town in Yishui, and Bianqiao’s thousand-mu apricot forest spread across the Yimeng Mountains and waters, with apricot blossoms along Wenhe Road resembling animated clouds and rosy clouds. Come to Shandong for a gentle "apricot snow" rendezvous and start your unique journey!

enjoy your journey through peaceful atmospheres.

I'm in Qufu, Jining, visiting one of the three Confucius sites—the Kong Family Mansion—to experience the charm of traditional culture! ✨After visiting the Confucius Temple, I walked to the nearby Kong Family Mansion. Here, you can experience the life of Confucius's descendants. [Attraction introduction] The Kong Family Mansion, also known as the Mansion of the Duke Yansheng, is the residence of the descendants of Confucius who held the hereditary title of Duke Yansheng. Construction began in 1377 and it was renovated in 1503, covering an area of 240 mu. In 1994, it was listed as a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO, along with the Confucius Temple and the Confucius Cemetery. This is the birthplace of Confucian thought, a spiritual home for the Chinese people, and a holy site for Confucian scholars worldwide. The Kong Family Mansion has 463 halls, rooms, and buildings. The architecture follows a layout of nine courtyards and three main routes. · The east route, or East School, includes Yiguan Hall, Mu'en Hall, the Kong Family Temple, and workshops. · The west route, or West School, includes Hong'e Pavilion, Zhongshu Hall, Anhuai Hall, and the Flower Hall. · The main part of the mansion is in the central route. The front section served as government offices, featuring three halls and six chambers, while the rear section was the inner residence, containing the front upper rooms, front and back hall buildings, side buildings, the rear six rooms, and finally, the back garden. 📍Address: No. 18 Gulou North Street, Qufu City, Jining City, Shandong Province 🕰Opening hours: 8:00 AM–5:30 PM 🎫Admission: Adult ticket is CNY 60. The Three Confucius Sites combo ticket is CNY 140. ✨Tips: 1. After entering the scenic area, you can pick up a free audio guide at the visitor center. 2. Smoking and littering are prohibited in the scenic area. 3. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing. 4. If you enjoy photography, you can prepare your camera equipment in advance. 5. Keep your belongings safe. 6. Respect local culture and traditions while touring. 7. Plan your time in advance to avoid crowds.

Don't follow the crowds this National Day. These 6 off-the-beaten-path cities offer fewer crowds, beautiful scenery, and budget-friendly travel. 01 Jinzhou | Liaoning Head west in Liaoning for National Day. Jinzhou is a stopover that's easy to overlook. I actually think it's perfect as a first stop because it's less crowded, the roads are easy, and food and accommodation are cheap. ⏰ Start the morning at Mount Yiwulü, about a 1.5-hour drive from downtown Jinzhou. The mountain isn't too steep, and the stone steps are well-maintained, making it easy for seniors and children to walk at a leisurely pace. In autumn, pine needles and maple leaves mix together, and the breeze carries a crisp, woody scent 📍 For the section from the mountain gate to the main peak, I recommend taking the shuttle bus for part of the way to save your energy for the view at the top. On a clear day, you can see the fields in the distance, and the photos turn out more expansive than you'd imagine 🍜 After heading back to the city, don't miss Jinzhou barbecue. Order the small skewers by the handful, pair them with a local soda, and two people can eat until they're stuffed for just around CNY 100 ⚠️ Parking at the mountain is limited during National Day, so try to arrive before 8:00 AM 02 Ordos | Inner Mongolia Ordos sounds far, but it's actually a convenient drive from Hohhot or Baotou. It's already cool here during National Day; it's sunny during the day but cold in the morning and evening, so be sure to bring a jacket. I recommend visiting Xiangshawan in the afternoon. ⏰ After 4:00 PM, the sand isn't too hot, the light is softer, and the lines for sand sliding and camel riding are shorter 📍 Remember to enter via the No. 3 cable car; it's less crowded than the main entrance The Genghis Khan Mausoleum Tourist Area is better to visit in the morning, when the architecture and the grasslands create a quiet, scenic backdrop. ⚠️ Ask about the price before taking photos while riding horses in the scenic area; don't just hop on without knowing the cost 🍜 For food, hand-grabbed mutton and milk tea will keep you full, but don't eat right at the entrance of the scenic area. Walk a couple of streets toward the city center, and the prices can be half as much. This is perfect for those who want to see unique landscapes without crowding into popular desert spots. 03 Chenzhou | Hunan Chenzhou is the place I most want to recommend on this trip. The red rocks and green water of the Gaoyiling Danxia landform look good in photos, but they are even more stunning in person. ⏰ Be sure to get to Gaoyiling early. Get on the mountain before 7:00 AM when there are fewer people and the mist hasn't cleared yet; it feels like walking through a painting 📍 Enter from the West Gate and follow the boardwalk for a loop; two-plus hours is enough ⚠️ The stone surfaces are slippery after rain, so wear non-slip shoes. Don't wear white sneakers, or you'll regret it The Dongjiang Lake Tourist Area is perfect for the second day. The mist over Little Dongjiang in the early morning is the signature view, but it depends on luck—you need the mist to get that vibe. Save Mangshan Five-Finger Peak for those with good stamina; the cable car plus hiking makes for a perfect day trip. 🍜 In the city, try the fish noodles and spicy chicken pot—they're authentically spicy. This is perfect for a 2–3 day road trip for those who want to see enough mountains and water in one go. 04 Turpan | Xinjiang Turpan in October is hot, but much milder than in July or August. It's a drive of over two hours from Urumqi through the Gobi Desert, so don't expect many service areas. I recommend visiting the Flaming Mountains in the evening. ⏰ After 6:00 PM, the surface temperature drops, and the red mountains look ten times better in the sunset than at noon 📍 You can get a panoramic shot from the roadside outside the scenic area; you don't necessarily have to buy a ticket to enter Kumtag Desert is close to Shanshan and is great for watching the sunset. The sand is fine and feels warm when you step on it barefoot. ⚠️ Don't walk deep into the desert alone; the signal is weak, so stick to the boardwalks and the crowds 🍜 Don't miss the grapes and mixed noodles in Turpan, and the raisins from the drying rooms are worth bringing home. This is perfect for those who don't mind the sun and want to see some vast, desolate scenery. 05 Tianshui | Gansu Tianshui is one of those cities you only truly appreciate once you've been there. The Maijishan Grottoes hang on the cliff face, with boardwalks clinging to the mountain and deep valleys right beneath your feet. ⏰ I recommend visiting Maijishan in the morning when the light hits the Buddha statues, making the details clear 📍 Special grottoes require separate reservations, but the regular ones along the boardwalk are impressive enough ⚠️ If you're afraid of heights, the boardwalk might make your legs weak, so know your limits Wushan Water Curtain Cave is a bit further from the city, but it's on the way if you're driving. Fuxi Temple is in the city and can be explored in half a day; the ancient cypress trees are very old and peaceful. 🍜 Tianshui guagua and malatang are local breakfast staples. The texture of guagua might surprise you the first time, but it gets addictive. This is perfect for those who love culture and want to avoid the crowds at popular grottoes. 06 Jining | Shandong I came to Jining for the Qufu Ming Ancient City (Three Confucius Sites) Tourist Area. It will be crowded during National Day, but it's more manageable than you'd think. ⏰ Arrive at the Confucius Temple before 8:00 AM before the tour groups flood in, so you can quietly explore the courtyards 📍 Enter from the South Gate and exit from the North Gate; follow the path without backtracking ⚠️ You can rent an audio guide or not, or just listen in on a tour group, but don't block the entrance Weishan Lake Tourist Area is perfect for the afternoon. Take a boat into the lake, where reed beds stretch on and on, and the breeze carries the scent of water. The lotus flowers have faded in autumn, but water chestnuts and lotus seed pods are in season. 🍜 Have a full fish feast by the lake; order by the number of people, and don't order too much at once. This is perfect for those traveling with elders who want a mix of culture and nature. 07 Yanbian | Jilin I didn't have high expectations for Yanbian, but the Liuding Mountain Cultural Tourist Area changed my mind. The mountain isn't high, but the view is expansive, and in autumn, the forests are ablaze with color. ⏰ Go up the mountain in the morning; when the mist clears, you can see the city in the distance 📍 Enter from the main gate and follow the main road; there's no need to take detours ⚠️ It's windy at the top, so have a hat and scarf ready The real highlight of Yanbian is the food. Cold noodles, barbecue, rice sausages, and sticky rice cakes—you can eat until you have to hold onto the wall for support. 🍜 The cold noodles should be freshly pressed, and the broth should have ice crystals to be authentic. Perfect for those who want to see some border culture and love to eat. It's a drive of over four hours from Changchun, and the road conditions are good. 08 Mianyang | Sichuan The Beichuan Qiang City Tourist Area in Mianyang is the quietest stop on this trip. While other places are packed during National Day, you can still walk around at a leisurely pace here. ⏰ Arrive in the morning and explore the Qiang architectural complex first—stone walls and watchtowers with muted, earthy tones 📍 Follow the signs from the visitor center; the route is clear ⚠️ Some areas are memorial sites, so check the signs before taking photos and don't just snap away In Mianyang city, you can stop for rice noodles—either spicy or clear broth—and pair it with a guokui. This is perfect for a detour while driving the Western Sichuan loop, or for those looking for a quiet place to spend half a day. Of these eight places, I most want you to visit Chenzhou and Tianshui. One for the mountains and water, the other for a glimpse into time. Don't follow the crowds this National Day; take a detour to these small cities, and you'll save more than just money.

Don't stay home this weekend! These 8 road trip routes are uncrowded, beautiful, and budget-friendly. 01 Xing'an League | Inner Mongolia Drive from Ulanhot toward Arxan. The scenery transitions from grassland to forest, and the colors outside the window shift from light green to deep green. ⏰ July to September is the golden window. In late September, the larch trees turn golden, adding a warmer tone than in summer. 📍 For Camel Peak Heaven Lake and the Unfrozen River in Arxan National Forest Park, we recommend setting aside an entire afternoon to walk the boardwalks at a leisurely pace. 🚗 Road trip tip: Attractions within the park are scattered. The sightseeing bus route and the driving route do not fully overlap, and you will need to transfer for some core areas. ⚠️ Park admission and sightseeing bus tickets are charged separately. Check the official daily announcement before you leave so you don't arrive at the gate only to find out you need a reservation. We recommend staying in downtown Arxan or Yiershi Town; it's much cheaper than staying inside the park, and you can soak in a hot spring at night to relieve fatigue. Suitable for families with seniors and children. The road conditions are generally flat, but there is a large temperature difference between day and night in the forest area, so pack a thick jacket even in August. 02 Handan | Hebei Guangfu Ancient City and Wahuang Palace are in Yongnian and Shexian respectively, separated by over an hour's drive. Don't try to do both in half a day. 📍 We recommend visiting Guangfu Ancient City in the morning. The city walls are intact, and the moat circles the city. Renting a bicycle to ride along the water is the most comfortable way to see it. 🍜 For lunch, have a donkey meat burger with millet porridge inside the ancient city; it's more authentic than the chain stores at the entrance. ⚠️ Some small attractions inside the ancient city charge separate fees. If you want to save money, just explore the city walls and alleys; you won't be missing out. Wahuang Palace is on Zhonghuang Mountain in Shexian. ⏰ The light hits the hanging architecture best after 3:00 PM, making it perfect for photos. There are many stairs, so seniors with limited mobility should take the cable car. Parking is limited, so arrive early on holidays, or you'll have to park on the outskirts and walk up. 03 Nanyang | Henan Xixia Funiu Mountain Laojieling and the Dinosaur Site Park are perfect for a full-day trip. 📍 Laojieling has a high altitude, making it a great summer retreat. The average temperature in July is several degrees lower than in the city, so remember to bring a light jacket for the mountain. 🚗 It takes about an hour to drive from Xixia County to the scenic area. The mountain roads are winding, so new drivers should take it slow. The Dinosaur Site Park is better for families with kids; the fossil exhibits and interactive areas can keep children occupied for two hours. ⚠️ Tickets for the two scenic areas are separate. Calculate whether a joint ticket is worth it based on your interests; don't buy one just to fill the itinerary. 🍜 After coming down the mountain, find a bowl of Qiangguo noodles or lamb soup in Xixia County. The local flavor is strong, and it's the perfect meal before heading back. Suitable for a family trip and summer retreat. We recommend visiting between June and August; the autumn foliage is also nice, but it gets colder in the mornings and evenings. 04 Jining | Shandong Qufu Ming Ancient City and Weishan Lake—one for culture, one for water scenery—are best split into two days. 📍 We recommend arriving at the Three Confucius Sites in Qufu before 8:00 AM. It's less crowded, the light is soft, and you can finish visiting the Confucius Temple, Confucius Mansion, and Confucius Forest in one morning. ⚠️ The Three Sites are within walking distance of each other, but the Confucius Forest is further away, so you can take the scenic area's electric cart. Check the official daily announcement for ticket and tour guide services; don't trust the unofficial guides soliciting at the entrance. Visit Weishan Lake in the afternoon. ⏰ At dusk, the lake surface glitters with gold, and taking a boat into the reed marshes is the most atmospheric experience. 🍜 The lotus leaf-wrapped fish and salted duck eggs at the lakeside "fishermen's fun" restaurants are worth a try, but ask for the price before ordering. The drive from Qufu to Weishan Lake takes about an hour and a half. Suitable for a slow-paced trip with seniors. It's liveliest during the lotus season in summer; remember to protect yourself from the sun and mosquitoes. 05 Xiamen | Fujian Gulangyu Island, Railway Culture Park, Nanputuo Temple, and the Botanical Garden—don't try to cram all four into one day. 📍 We recommend taking an early ferry to Gulangyu Island. Before 8:00 AM, there are fewer tourists, and there are no long lines on Longtou Road. ⚠️ Book ferry tickets in advance through official channels; you might be disappointed if you try to buy them on-site. The Railway Culture Park is great for an evening stroll. The trail, converted from old railway tracks, has plenty of shade and is comfortable to walk on. Visit Nanputuo Temple in the morning. The vegetarian cakes and vegetarian meals are worth trying. 🍜 The vegetarian restaurant has long lines, so avoid the 11:30 AM peak. Focus on the Rainforest Area and the Succulent Area in the Botanical Garden. ⏰ The Rainforest Area is most photogenic when the mist is on; check the park's announcement for specific times. If you are driving, parking on Xiamen Island is expensive and difficult, so we recommend leaving your car at the hotel and using buses and ferries to get around. Suitable for couples and families. The climate is most comfortable from October to April. 06 Southeast Guizhou | Guizhou Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village, Zhaoxing Dong Village, Zhenyuan Ancient Town, and Xianghuoyan—this route is best spread over 4–5 days of leisurely driving. 📍 Xijiang Miao Village is most spectacular when the lights come on in the evening. The viewing platforms get crowded, so look for photo spots toward the hillside homestays. Zhaoxing Dong Village is quieter than Xijiang. The Drum Towers and Wind and Rain Bridges are worth a close look. 🍜 You can try the Dong-style pickled fish and oil tea for a fresh experience. ⚠️ Accommodation conditions in the villages vary; check if they have private bathrooms before booking. Zhenyuan Ancient Town is worth an overnight stay. The Wuyang River flows through the town, and ⏰ a walk along the river at night with the lights on is just right. Xianghuoyan is more of a natural landscape; the waterfalls are powerful after rain, but the mountain paths are slippery, so wear non-slip shoes. Road trip tip: Guizhou has many mountain roads with sharp curves and steep slopes, so new drivers should be cautious. Suitable for those who enjoy villages and a slow pace. Best in spring and autumn. 07 Baicheng | Jilin Da'an Nenjiang Bay Tourist Area, featuring wetlands and river bay scenery, is perfect for a short weekend trip. 📍 A walk around the wetland boardwalk in Nenjiang Bay takes about two hours. In summer, the reeds are lush and there are many water birds; bring binoculars for a better experience. ⏰ Evening is the golden hour. The sunset over the river against the silhouette of the wetlands makes for great photos without filters. ⚠️ There are many mosquitoes in the wetlands, so long sleeves, long pants, and mosquito repellent are essential. Don't try to tough it out in shorts. 🚗 It takes about an hour to drive from downtown Baicheng to Da'an. The road conditions are good, making it suitable for new drivers. 🍜 The local river fish stew is hearty. Confirm whether it's priced by weight or by the dish before ordering. Suitable for family nature education and photography enthusiasts. It's most comfortable from July to September; in winter, it transforms into a different kind of ice and snow landscape. 08 Yichun | Jiangxi Mingyue Mountain Tourist Area, a combination of hot springs and hiking, is perfect for a two-day, one-night trip. 📍 We recommend taking the cable car to the middle station and then walking the boardwalk to Moon Lake; it saves energy and lets you enjoy the scenery. ⏰ In the early morning, before the mist clears, the mountains look like an ink wash painting—perfect for photos. ⚠️ Cable car lines are very long on holidays, so try to arrive at the cable car station before 8:00 AM. The hot springs in Wentang Town at the foot of the mountain are a signature experience. 🍜 After soaking, have a bowl of selenium-rich tofu and Wentang rice cake for a comfortable end to the day. The drive from downtown Yichun to Mingyue Mountain takes about 40 minutes. Parking is tight during peak season. Suitable for soaking in hot springs with seniors or watching waterfalls with kids. The azaleas in spring and red leaves in autumn are both worth seeing. The mountaintop may be icy in winter, so don't skimp on anti-slip gear. Of these 8 routes, Xing'an League and Southeast Guizhou are the most worth spending an extra two days on, while Xiamen and Yichun are perfect for a spontaneous getaway. Which direction are you planning to drive this weekend?

Hey everyone! Before you come to the Three Confucius Sites in Qufu, you must read this itinerary guide carefully! 📋 Otherwise, you'll really miss out on many of the best spots. Don't ask me how I know 😭 🌟 [Confucius Temple] 🚩 Address: Inside the Ming Ancient City, Qufu ⏰ Opening hours: 8:30 AM–5:00 PM The Confucius Temple is the highlight of the Three Confucius Sites! 🏛️ As soon as I walked in, I was stunned by the ancient colonnades; it's filled with the atmosphere of history. I recommend setting aside at least 2 hours to stroll through slowly so you can truly feel the weight of Confucian culture! When you reach the Dacheng Hall, the solemn and respectful atmosphere really commands reverence 🤫 🌟 [Confucius Mansion] 🚩 Address: East side of the Confucius Temple, right next door ⏰ Opening hours: 8:30 AM–5:00 PM This is where the descendants of Confucius lived, and it's incredibly well-preserved! 🏠 From the main gate to the back garden, stepping inside feels like traveling back to ancient times. The architectural details here are amazing—every spot is a masterpiece of Chinese aesthetics! I recommend 1.5 hours for your visit. Don't forget to check out the exquisite brick and wood carvings 🪵 🌟 [Confucius Cemetery] 🚩 Address: 1.5 km north of Qufu city ⏰ Opening hours: 8:30 AM–5:00 PM The Confucius Cemetery is the most breathtaking! 🌳 It's filled with towering ancient trees, and everywhere you look is lush and green! As the world's largest family cemetery, the atmosphere here is particularly solemn. Walking through it, you can feel the weight of thousands of years of history. I recommend 1.5 hours for your visit. Finally, spend some time just sitting under the ancient trees to soak in the peaceful passage of time 🌿 💡 Tips: ✅ The three attractions are not far from each other and can be reached on foot ✅ I recommend going in the morning to avoid peak crowds ✅ Wear comfortable sneakers; the whole tour will take 4–5 hours In short, you definitely can't miss the Three Confucius Sites when visiting Qufu! I've organized the map and guide for you, so be sure to save this! 🗺️✨

Want to take your kids on an educational trip this weekend but worried about the crowds in Qufu? I recommend Zoucheng! It is a 2–3 hour drive, the hometown of Mencius, with many historical sites. The pace is slow, no need to wake up early to rush, parenting is effortless, and both adults and kids can have a comfortable time. 📍Destination: Zoucheng, Jining ✅Best for: Family road trips, short weekend getaways. Best experienced in spring or autumn 🚗Transportation Driving is preferred! It takes about 2–3 hours from Jinan, Zaozhuang, or Linyi. Attractions are within a 30-minute drive of each other, road conditions are good, and every scenic spot has a parking lot, making parking convenient. Public transport is not recommended; attractions are scattered, and transferring with kids is a hassle, making it unsuitable for family travel. 🗺️2-Day 1-Night Itinerary Day 1: Cultural Route | Mostly flat ground, stroller-friendly Morning | Zoucheng Museum (Free) Start by exploring the museum with your kids. There is a dedicated exhibition hall about Mencius, so you can tell them the story of "Mencius's mother moving three times" beforehand. The museum has many artifacts, and you can get the souvenir ice cream, which kids love. 1.5 hours is enough for a leisurely visit. Noon | Local cuisine in the city Try authentic Southern Shandong flavors: Sa soup, Zoucheng stir-fry, and farmhouse stewed chicken, paired with grain pancakes. Kids will find something they like too. Afternoon | Temple and Mansion of Mencius (Ticket approx. 40 yuan, 2–2.5 hours) A must-visit in Zoucheng! Compared to the "Three Confucius Sites," it is much less crowded. Towering ancient cypress trees provide shade, and the red walls and ancient steles create a great atmosphere. Take your time exploring the Hall of Mencius's Mother and the Hall of the Sub-Sage. The Confucian Learning Hall offers rubbing experiences, perfect for learning while playing. The ground is flat, so it is stroller-friendly—no need to carry your child the whole time. Evening | Tangwang Lake Park + Hujia Mountain (Free) If you are tired from walking, take a stroll by the lake. Hujia Mountain is not high, so it is easy to hike up for the sunset. Kids can play in the shallow water by the lake. It is a quiet spot where locals relax daily. Night | Night market & accommodation Head to the Chengzhongcheng Night Market or Xiaohu Food City for snacks. For accommodation, choose a hotel or homestay near the Temple and Mansion of Mencius to make the next day easier and parking more convenient. Day 2: Mountain & Ancient Village Route | Full of adventure Morning | Yi Mountain (Ticket 50–60 yuan, 3–4 hours) This is the "East Mountain" mentioned in the poem "Climbing the East Mountain makes Lu seem small"! The mountain is not very high, but it is full of strangely shaped rocks and many caves—kids love exploring them. A less tiring way to visit with kids: if you are not feeling energetic, take the cable car and walk the wooden boardwalk at the East Gate; the slope is gentle, so you do not have to tackle steep climbs. Remember to bring plenty of water and snacks, as things are expensive on the mountain. Noon | Farmhouse restaurant at the foot of Yi Mountain After coming down the mountain, have the Yi Mountain stir-fried chicken. The chicken is flavorful and tastes amazing wrapped in pancakes. Afternoon | Shangjiushan Stone Village A 600-year-old stone village with stone houses, stone paths, old wells, and large stone rollers. It is not overly commercialized. Take your kids to see the old houses and try paper cutting or stone rubbing. The outer area of the village is free to explore; you can buy a pass if you want to enter the exhibition halls inside. Spend about 2 hours here before heading home. 💡Alternative: If your child is too young for hiking, you can swap the second day for the Tomb of the Prince of Lu of the Ming Dynasty + Tieshan Cliff Carvings. It is all flat ground, no climbing required, and you can still see historical sites. 🍜Food List Yi Mountain farmhouse stir-fried chicken, Sa soup, Southern Shandong stir-fry, pancakes with vegetable fillings, local meatball soup ⚠️Tips to avoid pitfalls 1. Supplies on Yi Mountain are limited and expensive, so try to bring your own water and snacks. Wear non-slip sneakers for hiking; the rocky paths can be easy to twist an ankle on. 2. Yi Mountain can get congested during holidays, so try to leave early to avoid the morning peak. 3. There are many trees at the Temple and Mansion of Mencius, which means mosquitoes. Remember to bring mosquito repellent if visiting in spring or autumn. 4. Choose rubbing and creative experiences based on need; do not get pushed into them, and follow your child's interests. 5. The museum is closed on Mondays! Do not make a wasted trip; check the opening hours before you go. ✨Travel experience The biggest fear when traveling with kids is rushing around and dealing with crowds, and Zoucheng really scores points here. The Temple and Mansion of Mencius are quiet, so you do not have to squeeze through crowds to take photos, and you can teach your kids some history along the way—it is a relaxing educational trip. Yi Mountain does not have steep, difficult stairs, and kids will be highly engaged in cave exploration the whole time. Shangjiushan Stone Village has a genuine local atmosphere and is not overly commercialized; walking along the stone paths is very healing. You can adjust the pace of the entire itinerary, stop to rest whenever you are tired, and avoid exhausting yourself, truly making parenting effortless. 📌Travel tips ✅Attire: Wear non-slip shoes for hiking Yi Mountain; light-colored clothes look great in photos at the Temple of Mencius. ✅Supplies: Bring mosquito repellent, wet wipes, and tissues—essentials for traveling with kids. ✅Budget: Tickets are affordable, and dining and accommodation offer great value; overall costs are friendly. ✅Time: Autumn offers comfortable temperatures without harsh sun, perfect for seeing historical sites and exploring the mountains. Many people think of Qufu first when it comes to Confucian cultural tourism. But Zoucheng's quiet, relaxed vibe is better suited for letting children slowly experience history. No need to rush between attractions or squeeze through crowds. In 2 days, you can see historical sites and explore ancient mountain villages. Travel does not have to be a whirlwind tour; accompanying your child as you walk and observe is the best reward. Do you prefer historical sites or nature for your child's educational trips? 🔥 99% of people visiting Jining only know about the Three Confucius Sites and Weishan Lake, but they don't know that a "living" red epic is hidden right here! Today, I'm taking you into the Yangshan Martyrs' Cemetery—a place that will get even Gen Z's blood pumping. It's engaging from start to finish, and you'll want to head out immediately after reading this!👇 🚩 Why is this a "must-visit"? 1. The "Southwest Shandong Campaign" from history textbooks happened right here! In 1947, the Liu-Deng Army fought a bloody battle at Yangshanji, wiping out 23,000 enemy troops and turning the tide of the war. Looking down from the mountaintop, the old trenches are still clearly visible. That feeling of "standing on the battlefield" is more real than any documentary! 2. The only "military + nature" dual-themed scenic area in the country Think a martyrs' cemetery is just tombstones? Wrong! There's also a geological park, a zoo, and a children's playground (yes, you can keep the kids entertained all day)! It's a perfect mix of red education and family travel—your social media posts will be instant hits! 3. Free! Free! Free! Important things must be said three times! Parking is also free. It's incredibly generous!💰 🗺️ Foolproof itinerary (save this) Morning: Red education 8. 30 Martyrs' Memorial Tower: A must-photograph spot! The tower is 23 meters tall and inscribed with "Revolutionary Martyrs Are Immortal." The sunlight hitting it creates a halo effect. 9. 00 Southwest Shandong Campaign Memorial Hall: A must-see! It houses the telescope used by Liu Bocheng, Deng Xiaoping's manuscripts, and an immersive 4D battlefield recreation (the sound of artillery shells made my legs go weak). 10. 00 Martyrs' Cemetery Area: Don't be afraid; it's very peaceful here. Every tombstone tells a story of youth; the youngest martyr was only 17... Bring a bouquet of flowers (sold at the entrance, 10 yuan/bouquet), and you'll truly be moved to tears when you bow. Noon: Refuel Yangshan Ancient Town Food Street: I recommend the "Yangshan Stir-fried Chicken" (38 yuan/serving, the meat is so tender it bursts with juice) and "Diguo Pie" (freshly baked, the dipping sauce is incredible). Hidden gem: There's an elderly lady at the corner selling "Revolutionary Candied Hawthorns" for 5 yuan a skewer. It's sweet and sour, tasting just like the flavors of that era. Afternoon: Nature + Family fun 13. 00 Yangshan Geological Park: You must check out the "Sinkhole"! It's actually an old quarry site, but the water is as green as jade. Aerial shots look amazing (you can even get great shots with your phone). 14. 30 Zoo: There are Siberian tigers, black bears, and peacocks (kids can feed them, 10 yuan/serving). Note: Alpacas love to spit, so don't wear white! 16:00 Military Experience Area: You can touch real tanks and ride in armored vehicles (20 yuan/ride). The guys won't want to leave! 💡 Tips to avoid pitfalls (hard-learned lessons) Wear sneakers! The park is huge with many steps; high heels will ruin your day. Bring water! Bottled water in the park is 5 yuan, but vending machines are rare. Don't go to the memorial hall after 4:00 PM: It closes at 4:30 PM, and you won't have enough time to see it all! Don't take photos in the cemetery area: Respect the martyrs, keep your phone on silent, and remain solemn. 📸 Best photo spots (social media engagement boosters) Low-angle shot in front of the memorial tower: Stand at the base of the tower, place your phone on the ground, and capture the "soaring to the sky" effect. Edge of the geological park "sinkhole": Stand sideways to capture the reflection; it looks like a scene from "The Lost Tomb." Path in the martyrs' cemetery: Shoot a silhouette against the light with the caption "They remain forever young." 🎒 Pre-trip checklist ID card (required for free entry registration) Sunscreen + sun hat (few trees in the park, intense sun in summer) Power bank (you won't be able to stop taking photos) Snacks (bring some bread to feed the fish and pigeons—it's so much fun) ❤️ Final thoughts Some say a martyrs' cemetery is too heavy for a vacation. But I want to say: Without them, how could we have the freedom to travel as we do today? At Yangshan, you'll see white-haired veterans saluting at the graves, and elementary students taking notes diligently. "Red" isn't an outdated color; it's the foundation engraved in the bones of the Chinese people. 📍Address: Yangshan Town, Jinxiang County, Jining City 🚗Transportation: 1-hour drive from downtown Jining; navigate to "Yangshan Martyrs' Cemetery" 🎫Tickets: Free (requires QR code registration) ⏰Hours: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (suggest allowing 4–5 hours) Interactive time: What's the most moving red tourism site you've ever visited? Let's chat in the comments. 🔥

What's the worst thing about driving during the National Day holiday? Getting stuck in traffic on the highway watching taillights, and then seeing the backs of other drivers at the scenic spots. I flipped through a map and picked six lesser-known but surprisingly charming small towns. Fewer crowds, beautiful scenery, lower costs, and most importantly, smooth routes. 01 Dehong | Yunnan Meng Huan Grand Golden Pagoda | Yunnan, Dehong ⏰ Arrive at the Meng Huan Grand Golden Pagoda before 8 am. The sunlight will be at an angle on the spire, so you won't have to fight for a good spot to take photos. After 10 am, tour groups will arrive, and the steps will be packed with people. 📍 Don't miss the mountain trail at the foot of the pagoda. A 40-minute walk around the area offers panoramic views of the Mangshi Basin. It's perfect for taking elderly people for a leisurely stroll, as the slope isn't steep. 🍜 On the way down the mountain, head to Kuoshi Road to find "Sa Pie" (a type of Sichuan snack). The bitter Sa Pie is slightly bitter with a sweet aftertaste, while the lemon Sa Pie is refreshing. You can eat your fill for around 30 yuan per person, which is much more affordable than the shops near the scenic area entrance. ⚠️ You need to take off your shoes before entering the pagoda. Wear comfortable, easy-to-remove shoes. Before renting out Dai costumes for photos at the entrance, ask about the price first to avoid being overcharged. It's a 20-minute drive from Mangshi Airport. Dehong isn't a popular destination during the National Day holiday; you can find decent hotels for around 200 yuan. 02 Hefei | Anhui Sanhe Ancient Town | Anhui, Hefei The waterways of Sanhe Ancient Town are more interesting to explore than I expected. Enter from South Street, walk along the Xiaonan River to Wangyue Pavilion; the stone-paved streets and horse-head walls retain the Hui-style architecture. 📌 The main activity is taking a traditional awning boat ride. 📍 The boat dock is at Xiaonanmen; it takes 15 minutes one way to the other side. The views from the boat are more interesting than from the shore, especially at dusk when the lights come on. 🍜 Try Sanhe rice dumplings and crispy duck. The rice dumplings have a crispy outer skin and are filled with tofu and dried shrimp. Freshly fried on the street are much better than packaged ones. ⚠️ The ancient town itself is free, but several smaller attractions inside require separate admission fees. You can skip places like Yang Zhenning's former residence if you're not a fan. Parking is limited during the National Day holiday, so it's recommended to park outside and walk in. It's about an hour's drive from Hefei city center. A half-day trip is recommended; arrive in the afternoon and leave in the evening. Families with children can visit the wetland park along the way. 03 Taizhou|Jiangsu Zhenhu Lake|Jiangsu·Taizhou To truly appreciate the beauty of Zhenhu Lake's reed marshes, you need to take a boat. 📍 After buying your ticket at the scenic area gate, head straight to the pier. Don't spend too much time at the wetland science museum near the entrance. ⏰ Between 9:00 and 11:00 AM, the waterbirds are most active. The boatman will point out egrets and wild ducks. Bringing binoculars will double the experience. 🍜 After leaving the scenic area, head to Zhentong Ancient Town for fish cakes and shrimp balls. The ancient town has no entrance fee and is half the price of dining inside Zhenhu Lake. The fish cake soup is delicious, and the shrimp balls are springy and chewy. ⚠️ The Zhenhu Lake entrance fee includes a boat ticket, but boats operate on a fixed schedule. If you miss a boat, you'll have to wait half an hour. Take a picture of the timetable upon entering. It's recommended to buy tickets online in advance during the National Day holiday. It's a 40-minute drive from Taizhou city. Suitable for families with parents; the pace is slow and there's little walking. In early October, the reeds are just sprouting, a beautiful green tinged with yellow. 04 Liuzhou|Guangxi Chengyang Eight Villages|Guangxi·Liuzhou Chengyang Eight Villages is located north of Liuzhou, a two-hour drive. 📍 The Wind and Rain Bridge is a landmark, but don't just photograph the bridge. Walk further in; the stilted houses and rice paddies are the main attractions. ⏰ After 4 PM, the light warms up, making it the best time to photograph the Chengyang Yongji Bridge. Many students sketch on the bridge, so be prepared to wait for a good spot. 🍜 Enjoy Dong-style oil tea and sour fish in the village. The first sip of oil tea is bitter, the second is fragrant. The pickled fish is marinated and served with glutinous rice. Longtan Park | Liuzhou, Guangxi Back in Liuzhou city, Longtan Park is free. 📍 Enter from the North Gate and walk around the large Longtan (Dragon Pool). Karst hills are reflected in the water; locals stroll here. Liujiang River | Liuzhou, Guangxi ⏰ Go to the Liujiang River to watch the fountain at 7:30 pm. 📍 The section of the river from Wenchang Bridge to Yaobu Ancient Town has the best view. The river breeze carries away the smell of snail rice noodles. ⚠️ The mountain roads in Chengyang Bazhai are winding; novice drivers should drive slowly. During the National Day holiday, accommodation in the villages needs to be booked in advance; last-minute bookings are likely to be unavailable. 05 Bortala | Xinjiang Sayram Lake | Bortala, Xinjiang The blue of Sayram Lake cannot be captured even a tenth in a photo. 📍 Enter from the east gate and circle the lake counter-clockwise. The south bank is less crowded, while the north bank has more viewing platforms. ⏰ From 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM, the lake is calm, and the reflections are clearest. After 10:00 AM, the wind picks up, and the lake turns a deep blue, offering a different kind of beauty. Anjihai Grand Canyon | Bortala, Xinjiang Anjihai Grand Canyon is a self-explanatory scenic spot and does not charge an entrance fee. 📍 Navigate to the Anjihai Grand Canyon viewing platform; you can drive to the edge. Looking down, your legs will tremble. ⚠️ There are no guardrails along the canyon edge, so be sure to hold children's hands tightly. It's windy, so don't wear a loose hat. Wenquan County Scenery | Bortala, Xinjiang Wenquan County is a good place to stay overnight. 📍 The river valley near the county town is often foggy in the morning. Soak in a hot spring to relax. 🍜 Enjoy mutton soup and milk tea. The mutton in Wenquan County has no gamey smell; it's fragrant even when boiled in plain water. During the National Day holiday, Bortala is less crowded than Yili. It's a five-hour drive from Urumqi; a rest stop in Jinghe is recommended. 06 Benxi | Liaoning Benxi Water Cave | Liaoning, Benxi You need to take a boat to enter Benxi Water Cave. 📍 There's a queue at the cave entrance, so go early to avoid waiting. The temperature inside the cave is a constant 12 degrees Celsius, so bring a jacket. ⏰ Enter the cave before 10 AM; the light shining in from the entrance creates a layered effect on the water. Later, it relies entirely on artificial lighting, which isn't as impressive. Huanren Wunü Mountain | Liaoning, Benxi Wunü Mountain is in Huanren, a two-hour drive from Benxi city. 📍 The mountain isn't high, but the steps are steep. The highlight is the ruins of a mountain city from the Goguryeo period; the stone walls are still there. Guanmenshan National Forest Park | Benxi, Liaoning The maple leaves at Guanmenshan start to turn red in early October. 📍 Enter from the main gate and take the Fengwangou route. During the National Day holiday, the leaves are just beginning to change color, with more green than red; the best time to visit is mid-to-late October. ⚠️ Don't combine all three attractions on the same day; it'll be too rushed. Half a day for Shuidong, half a day for Wunüshan, and a separate day for Guanmenshan. The highway from Benxi to Huanren is toll-free during the National Day holiday, but service areas are scarce, so fill up your tank beforehand. 🍜 Enjoy Xiaoshi mutton soup with steamed buns. The soup is white and the meat is tender; it'll warm you up completely. Don't just focus on Dalian and Shenyang for your National Day road trip. This route in Benxi is half the crowd, and the scenery is just as beautiful. 07 Putian | Fujian Meizhou Island Mazu Cultural Tourism Area | Putian, Fujian Meizhou Island requires a ferry. 📍 Buy your ferry ticket at Wenjia Wharf; it takes half an hour to reach the island. Ferry services are increased during the National Day holiday, but queues are still long, so arrive early rather than late. ⏰ After arriving on the island, visit the Mazu Ancestral Temple first; it's less crowded in the morning. The temple is built on a hillside, and the path leads uphill with sea views. 🍜 Eat Mazu noodles and oyster omelets on the island. The oyster omelets use local small oysters and are very fresh. They're a little more expensive than in Putian city, but still acceptable. ⚠️ Buy ferry tickets and island tickets separately. Don't believe the touts at the pier offering "skip-the-line" tickets; just buy them at the official window. There are buses on the island, but renting an electric scooter is more convenient and costs around 50 yuan per day. Driving from Putian city to Wenjia Pier takes about 40 minutes. It's suitable for bringing elderly people, as Mazu culture holds significant meaning for Fujianese people. Accommodation prices on the island increase significantly during the National Day holiday; it's recommended to stay in Putian city for a day trip. 08 Jining | Shandong Qufu Ming Dynasty City (Three Confucian Sites) Tourist Area | Jining, Shandong Hiring a guide is essential for visiting the Three Confucian Sites in Qufu; otherwise, it's just about looking at the buildings. 📍 Enter the Confucius Temple from the South Gate and walk along the central axis to the Dacheng Hall. The Confucius Mansion is behind it, and the Confucius Cemetery is outside the city walls. ⏰ Enter as soon as it opens at 8:00 AM, before the tour groups arrive. After 10:00 AM, the area in front of the Wanren Palace Wall is full of people taking photos. Weishan Lake Tourist Area | Jining, Shandong Weishan Lake is a 1.5-hour drive from Qufu. 📍 Take a ferry to Weishan Island. The Railway Guerrilla Memorial Park on the island is worth visiting, but the main attraction is the lake. ⏰ Take a boat to the Lotus Pond in the evening. In early October, not many lotus flowers remain, but the lotus pods are still there. The boatman will pick some for you to taste; the tender lotus pods are sweet. 🍜 Eat Weishan Lake carp and salted duck eggs. The carp with four holes is different from others. The salted duck egg yolk is oily and goes well with porridge. ⚠️ Buying a combined ticket for the three Confucius Temples (Confucius Temple, Confucius Cemetery, and Confucius Cemetery) is more cost-effective, but the Confucius Temple is far away, so you can skip it if you're short on time. The last ferry on Weishan Lake departs at 6 PM, don't miss it. Accommodation in Qufu is expensive during the National Day holiday; staying in Jining city center is only a 40-minute drive away. Of these 6 places, I most want to revisit Sayram Lake and Benxi. One is unbelievably blue, and the other is just the right amount of red. Which direction are you planning to drive in during the National Day holiday? What's the worst thing about driving during the National Day holiday? Getting stuck in traffic on the highway watching taillights, and then seeing the backs of other drivers at the scenic spots. I looked through a map and picked 6 less-visited but high-quality small towns. Fewer people, beautiful scenery, lower costs, and most importantly, smooth routes. 01 Dehong | Yunnan Meng Huan Grand Golden Pagoda | Dehong, Yunnan ⏰ Arrive at the Meng Huan Grand Golden Pagoda before 8 AM. The sunlight shines obliquely on the spire, making it easier to take photos without having to fight for a good spot. After 10 AM, tour groups arrive, and the steps are packed with people. 📍 Don't miss the mountain trail at the foot of the pagoda. A 40-minute walk around offers panoramic views of the Mangshi Basin. A meal costs around 30 RMB per person and is quite filling, much better value than the shops near the scenic area entrance. ⚠️ Remove your shoes before entering the pagoda. Wear comfortable shoes that are easy to remove. When renting Dai costumes for photos at the entrance, ask about the price before changing to avoid being overcharged. It's a 20-minute drive from Mangshi Airport. Dehong isn't a popular destination during the National Day holiday, and you can find decent hotels for around 200 RMB. 02 Hefei | Anhui Sanhe Ancient Town | Anhui, Hefei The waterways of Sanhe Ancient Town are more interesting to explore than I expected. You can skip places like Yang Zhenning's former residence if you're not a fan. Parking is limited during the National Day holiday, so it's recommended to park on the outskirts and walk in. It's about an hour's drive from Hefei city center. A half-day trip is recommended, arrive in the afternoon and leave in the evening. Families with children can conveniently visit the wetland park along the way. 03 Taizhou|Jiangsu Zhenhu Lake|Jiangsu·Taizhou To truly appreciate the beauty of Zhenhu Lake's reed marshes, you need to take a boat. 📍 After purchasing tickets at the park entrance, head straight to the pier. Don't linger too long at the wetland science museum near the entrance. ⏰ Between 9:00 and 11:00 AM, the waterbirds are most active. The boatman will point out egrets and wild ducks. Bringing binoculars will enhance the experience. 🍜 After leaving the park, head to Zhentong Ancient Town for fish cakes and shrimp balls. Many students are sketching on the bridge, so be prepared to wait for a good spot. 🍜 Try Dong-style oil tea and sour fish in the village. The oil tea is bitter at first, but fragrant afterward. The sour fish is pickled and served with sticky rice. Longtan Park | Guangxi, Liuzhou Back in Liuzhou city, Longtan Park is free. 📍 Enter from the North Gate and walk around the large Longtan (Dragon Pool). Karst hills are reflected in the water, and locals stroll along the banks. The south bank is less crowded, while the north bank has more viewing platforms. ⏰ From 7 am to 9 am, the lake is calm, and the reflections are clearest. After 10 am, the wind picks up, and the lake turns a deep blue, offering a different kind of beauty. Anjihai Grand Canyon | Bortala, Xinjiang Anjihai Grand Canyon is an unofficial scenic spot, with no entrance fee. 📍 Navigate to the Anjihai Grand Canyon viewing platform; you can drive to the edge. Looking down, your legs will tremble. ⚠️ There are no guardrails along the canyon edge, so keep children on their hands. It's windy, so don't wear a loose hat. Wenquan County Scenery | Bortala, Xinjiang Wenquan County is a good place to stay overnight. 📍 The river valley near the county town is often foggy in the morning. Soak in a hot spring to relax. 🍜 Eat mutton soup and milk tea. The mutton in Wenquan County isn't gamey; it's fragrant even when boiled in plain water. Bortala is less crowded than Yili during the National Day holiday. It's a five-hour drive from Urumqi; a rest stop in Jinghe is recommended. 06 Benxi | Liaoning Benxi Water Cave | Liaoning, Benxi Benxi Water Cave requires a boat ride to enter. 📍 There's a queue at the cave entrance, so arrive early to avoid long waits. The cave maintains a constant temperature of 12 degrees Celsius, so bring a jacket. ⏰ Enter the cave before 10 AM when the light shines in from the entrance, creating a layered effect on the water. Later in the day, the lighting is less impressive. Huanren Wunü Mountain | Liaoning, Benxi Wunü Mountain is located in Huanren, a two-hour drive from Benxi city. 📍 The mountain isn't high, but the steps are steep. The highlight is the ruins of a Goguryeo-era mountain fortress; the stone walls are still standing. Guanmenshan National Forest Park | Liaoning, Benxi The maple leaves at Guanmenshan start to turn red in early October. 📍 Enter from the main gate and follow the route through Fengwangou. During the National Day holiday, the leaves are just beginning to change color, with more green than red; the best time to visit is mid-to-late October. ⚠️ Don't combine all three destinations on the same day; it'll be too rushed. Half a day for the Water Cave, half a day for Wunü Mountain, and a separate day for Guanmen Mountain. The Benxi route is much less crowded, but the scenery is just as beautiful. 07 Putian|Fujian Meizhou Island Mazu Cultural Tourism Area|Fujian·Putian Meizhou Island requires a ferry. 📍 Buy your ferry ticket at Wenjia Wharf; it takes half an hour to reach the island. Ferry services are more frequent during the National Day holiday, but queues can still be long, so go early rather than late. ⏰ After arriving on the island, visit the Mazu Ancestral Temple first; it's less crowded in the morning. The temple is built against the mountain; the path leads uphill, offering views of the sea. 🍜 Eat Mazu noodles and oyster omelets on the island. The oyster omelets use local small oysters, very fresh. A little more expensive than in Putian city, but acceptable. ⚠️ Buy ferry tickets and island tickets separately. Don't believe the touts at the pier offering "skip-the-line" tickets; just buy them at the official window. There are buses on the island, but renting an electric scooter is more convenient, around 50 yuan per day. Driving from Putian city to Wenjia pier takes 40 minutes. Suitable for bringing elders, as Mazu culture holds great significance for Fujian people. Accommodation prices on the island increase significantly during the National Day holiday; it's recommended to stay in Putian city for a day trip. 08 Jining|Shandong Qufu Ming Dynasty City (Three Confucius Sites) Tourist Area|Shandong·Jining Hiring a guide is recommended for the Qufu Three Confucius Sites; otherwise, it's just like looking at houses. 📍 Enter the Confucius Temple from the South Gate and walk along the central axis to the Dacheng Hall. The Confucius Mansion is behind, and the Confucius Cemetery is outside the city. ⏰ Enter as soon as it opens at 8 am, before the tour groups arrive. After 10 PM, the area in front of the Wanren Palace Wall was packed with people taking photos. ⏰ In the evening, take a boat to the Lotus Pond. In early October, not many lotus flowers remain, but the lotus pods are still there. The boatman will pick some for you to taste; the tender lotus pods are sweet and delicious. 🍜 Eat Weishan Lake carp and salted duck eggs. The carp has four holes, unlike those elsewhere. The salted duck eggs have runny yolks and are perfect with porridge. ⚠️ Buying a combined ticket for the three Confucius Sites (Confucius Temple, Confucius Cemetery, and Confucius Cemetery) is more cost-effective, but the Confucius Cemetery is far away, so you can skip it if you're short on time. The last ferry to Weishan Lake departs at 6 PM, so don't miss it. Accommodation in Qufu is expensive during the National Day holiday; it's only a 40-minute drive from Jining city center. Of these six places, I most want to revisit Sayram Lake and Benxi. One is unbelievably blue, and the other is just the right amount of red. Which direction are you planning to drive in for the National Day holiday?

These 8 places for National Day reverse travel are uncrowded and affordable 01 Kashgar | Xinjiang Head west for National Day; flights are much friendlier than in summer, and the crowds are thinner. Don't rush to the Old Town; ⏰ it only fully wakes up after 10 AM, when the light cuts perfectly across the mud walls. 📍 The century-old tea house on Wustangboyi Road, a pot of brick tea with naan, sit for 2 hours and no one will rush you. You need a full day for the Pamir Plateau. Start from Kashgar and take the China-Pakistan Friendship Highway; White Sand Lake and Karakul Lake are on the way. Stone City is in Tashkurgan, and the light hits the ruins with the most depth in the afternoon. It's windy, so don't skimp on a jacket. ⚠️ Don't push through altitude sickness; drink Rhodiola in advance. Stone City has many stairs, so if you're with elderly travelers, just take photos at the bottom. Stay in a homestay near the Old Town; there are grilled bun stalls right outside. 🍜 Lamb soup with naan-pit meat, you can eat until you're stuffed for under 80. 02 Tianshui | Gansu I recommend getting to Maijishan Grottoes early; ⏰ enter with the first wave at 8:30 AM so no one blocks your view on the boardwalk. Special grottoes require a separate reservation, but the regular ones are impressive enough, and the clay sculptures' smiles are even better in person than in photos. Wushan Water Curtain Cave is at the remote Lashao Temple, so driving yourself is the most convenient option; 🚄 it's about a 1.5-hour drive from Tianshui South Station. Fuxi Temple is in the city; go in the evening when the ancient cypresses are lush, and there are more locals taking a stroll than tourists. 🍜 Don't eat Guagua and Ranran in the scenic areas; 📍 the old shop at the entrance of Yusheng Lane has chili oil that is fragrant but not harsh. ⚠️ The boardwalk at Maijishan is slippery when it rains, so wear non-slip shoes. If you're afraid of heights, just stick to the lower boardwalk. 03 Wanning | Hainan Mornings at Shimei Bay belong to the surfers; ⏰ get in the water at 7 AM when the waves are soft and falling doesn't hurt. Riyue Bay is lively in the afternoon; beginners can find an instructor for a 2-hour session, which is much cheaper than in Sanya. Stay at a surf hostel near Riyue Bay; you can walk to the beach in your flip-flops. 🍜 Have Hou'an rice noodle soup for breakfast; 📍 don't miss the coffee in Xinglong Town—it's charcoal-roasted and pairs perfectly with coconut sticky cake. ⚠️ There is a lot of rain on the west coast of Hainan during National Day, so check the weather forecast before deciding when to go into the water. Don't walk barefoot on the reefs at Shimei Bay; the shells will cut your feet. Driving yourself is most convenient; 🚄 a taxi from Wanning Station to the bay area is about 40. 04 Tangshan | Hebei I didn't have high expectations for the Eastern Qing Tombs, but I found the section with the stone statues to be truly peaceful; ⏰ after 3 PM, the tour groups leave, and the sacred path is all yours. ⚠️ The tomb area is large, so buy sightseeing bus tickets; don't try to walk it. Nanhu and Kailuan are in the city. The trip down the mine shaft at Kailuan National Mine Park is worth the ticket price, and kids love it. Go to Nanhu in the evening; the fountain and light show are free, and many locals go there for a run. 🍜 Buy Tangshan Matang and Qizi biscuits as souvenirs; 📍 the old shops on Jianguo Road are cheaper than those in the scenic areas. Stay near Nanhu for a comfortable evening stroll; 🚄 it's a 20-minute taxi ride from Tangshan Station. 05 Hulunbuir | Inner Mongolia The grassland is golden during National Day, with hay bales rolled up and placed by the roadside, making it even more photogenic than when it's green in summer. ⏰ The light is soft after 4 PM, so you don't need filters for road trip shots. I don't recommend just visiting the scenic spots; chartering a car to travel along the border line is the only way to see the real stuff. 📍 Go to the Ergun Wetland in the afternoon; the birch forests toward Genhe are perfectly yellow. ⚠️ There is a large temperature difference between day and night, so bring a down jacket; the wind can blow right through you. 🍜 Find a herdsman's home for hand-grabbed meat and pot tea; don't eat at the tourist spots. Stay in Hailar; 🚄 renting a car at Hailar Station is most convenient. Signal on the grassland can be spotty, so download offline maps first. 06 Hainan Prefecture | Qinghai Don't just stop at Riyue Mountain for photos; ⏰ the morning light is perfect for capturing the prayer flags and the mountain pass together. Further west is Qinghai Lake; there are half as many people during National Day compared to July and August, just remember to negotiate the price before riding horses by the lake. The Danxia landforms at Guide National Geopark should be viewed in the afternoon when the colors are most saturated. 📍 The water under the Yellow River Qing Bridge is green, which is completely different from the Yellow River in your imagination. ⚠️ You'll be at an altitude of around 3,000 meters, so don't run or jump; walk slowly. 🍜 The Liangpi and yogurt on the streets of Guide are authentically sour. Stay in Gonghe County or Guide County; 🚄 it's about a 2-hour drive from Xining. There are many speed limits along the way, so don't rush. 07 Honghe | Yunnan The Yuanyang Terraces aren't fully flooded for National Day, but the rice has turned yellow; ⏰ arrive at Duoyishu before sunrise, and catching the sea of clouds depends on luck. The sunset at Bada is reliable, so grab a spot by 5 PM. ⚠️ The mountain roads are winding, so keep motion sickness medicine handy. Jianshui Old Town is perfect for a slow pace; 📍 sit around the grilled tofu stalls on Lin'an Road and pay by counting the skewers. Visit the Zhu Family Garden and the Confucian Temple, which are right next to each other, and go to Chaoyang Tower in the evening to watch the locals dance. 🍜 Caoya rice noodles are only found in Jianshui and are sweet and fresh. Stay in a guesthouse in the Old Town; 🚄 it's a 10-minute taxi ride from Jianshui Station. Give the terraces and the Old Town two separate days; don't try to cram them into one. 08 Jining | Shandong You need to set aside half a day for the Qufu Ming Ancient City (Three Confucius Sites) tourist area; ⏰ get there when it opens at 8 AM to avoid crowds and clearly see the inscriptions under the ancient cypress trees. Hire a guide, otherwise, you're just looking at buildings. ⚠️ Check the official daily announcements for ticket and reservation information. Go to Weishan Lake in the afternoon; the lotus season is over, but the reeds and fishing boats are still beautiful. 📍 Take the ferry to Weishan Island and bike around the island; the air is full of water vapor. 🍜 Jining San soup with Zhuangmo is a filling breakfast. You can stay in either Qufu or Jining city; 🚄 Qufu East Station is convenient for high-speed rail. It's about a 1-hour drive between the two, so you can plan them together. These 8 places—I personally recommend Kashgar and Yuanyang the most, one for its culture and the other for its landscape. You won't regret visiting either during National Day. Which direction are you planning to go? Let's chat in the comments.

I followed the Trip.com Jining Must-Visit Attractions list to Nishan Sacred Land, and I have to say, it was a great choice! As a "Black Diamond Reviewer," I can responsibly say after a thorough experience that this attraction fully deserves its spot on the list. 🎉 First, my most direct impression: this is not only a stunning landmark for taking photos, but also a treasure trove for immersing yourself in Confucian culture. Strolling through the Daxuetang (Great Hall) during the day, the antique architecture makes you feel like you've traveled back in time; the evening fireworks show is absolutely spectacular, a true visual feast🎆! It's worth mentioning that there are many NPC interactive activities in the park, which makes the experience fully engaging—you won't feel bored at all. A few tips for those planning to go: · 💡 There is a free calligraphy experience in the Daxuetang, definitely give it a try, it's very meaningful! · 🎇 Don't miss the fireworks show at night; it's the highlight of the entire trip! · 🚶‍♂️ There are many NPC interactions in the park; participating actively will bring unexpected surprises~ · 🕘 Operating hours are until 9:00 PM. I recommend entering the park in the afternoon so you can experience both the daytime and nighttime beauty. Overall, whether you are a culture enthusiast or just looking for a great place to check in, Nishan Sacred Land won't let you down. While it might not be the kind of experience that makes you scream with excitement, it is definitely a cultural landmark worth making a special trip for~✨

Where to take the kids during National Day? These 6️⃣ places are less crowded and less tiring 1️⃣ Dali | Yunnan When taking the kids to Dali during National Day, don't just focus on the crowded ancient city. I've taken my kids there before, and Xizhou Ancient Town is the happiest place for younger children. ⏰ Arrive in Xizhou before 10 am. The rice paddies are less crowded and cooler, allowing the kids to run around freely. 📍 Walk into Sifang Street, and the area under the big banyan tree at the entrance of Yan Family Courtyard is the best spot for taking photos of Bai ethnic houses. The Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple are suitable for elementary school students and older. Climbing the steps can be a bit tiring, but there's a grassy area in the Three Pagodas Reflection Park where you can rest. ⚠️ Don't skimp on the electric cart tickets. It's quite a distance from the entrance to the main hall, and the kids will want to be carried halfway. Don't be greedy with the Erhai Lake loop; only ride the section on the west side of the lake with the kids. 📍 From Caicun Wharf north to Xizhou, the road is flat. Renting a family bicycle for a day costs about 50 yuan. Nanzhao Folk Island is optional; the boat ticket plus entrance fee isn't cheap, and kids actually prefer throwing stones on the shore. For food, 🍜 buy Xizhou crispy rice cakes while they're hot, one sweet and one savory. Staying in a courtyard guesthouse in Caicun or Xizhou offers sea views from the window in the morning and is much quieter than staying in the old town. Rooms are limited during the National Day holiday, so book two weeks in advance. 2️⃣ Yichang|Hubei Yichang is a middle-ground option where "kids have fun and adults aren't tired." For the Yangtze River Three Gorges cruise, choose the shorter "Two Dams and One Gorge" route; it takes about half a day, and the boat offers plenty of seating and sightseeing, making it suitable for both the elderly and children. 🚄 It takes about half an hour by taxi from Yichang East Railway Station to the wharf. The Three Gorges Family Scenic Area is best visited in the morning. Stroll along the riverside boardwalk, stopping frequently to admire the Tujia stilted houses and see people washing clothes by the stream. 📍 The Longjinxi section is the coolest, perfect for wading in the summer, but it gets crowded during the National Day holiday, so arrive early. The Three Gorges Waterfall requires physical exertion. ⚠️ Even wearing a raincoat, you're likely to get wet, so bring an extra change of clothes for your child. The Qingjiang Gallery is much easier; take a boat trip to see the mountains, and the water is a beautiful jade-green, perfect for middle and high school students to relax and take photos. For food, don't miss Yichang Liangxia (cold shrimp) and radish dumplings. 🍜 There are many stalls on Jiefang Road Pedestrian Street in the evening. Staying near Wanda Plaza makes it convenient to get to various docks, and you can also stroll along the river in the evening. 3️⃣ Jining|Shandong The core purpose of bringing children to Jining is one word: learning. The Qufu Minggucheng (Three Confucius Sites) tourist area is suitable for elementary school students and above. The ancient trees and inscriptions in the Confucius Temple are easy for kids to grasp with a few historical explanations. ⏰ Enter as soon as it opens at 8 AM to avoid the large tour groups. 📍 The "Five Cypresses Embracing a Locust Tree" in the back garden of the Confucius Mansion is worth a special trip. ⚠️ Buy the combined ticket for the three Confucius sites online in advance to avoid long queues at the ticket windows. Audio guides can be rented inside the scenic area, cheaper than hiring a tour guide. Weishan Lake Scenic Area offers a different experience. In summer, the lake is full of lotus flowers; you can catch the tail end of the bloom during the National Day holiday. Take a boat into the reed marshes, and the kids will excitedly search for wild ducks. 📍 The Railway Guerrilla Memorial Park on Weishan Island is mostly popular with boys. Eat salted duck eggs and four-nosed carp from Weishan Lake, 🍜 freshly cooked at a lakeside fisherman's restaurant. Stay near the old city of Qufu for a quiet night, allowing you to continue exploring the next day without the hassle. 4️⃣ Shangluo|Shaanxi Shangluo is a hidden gem near Xi'an, with significantly fewer people than other valleys in the Qinling Mountains during the National Day holiday. Jinshixia Gorge is suitable for family hikes. The boardwalk in the gorge is gentle, and the stream follows you all the way. ⏰ It's most beautiful after rain, with a strong waterfall, but the steps are slippery, so ⚠️ make sure your kids wear non-slip shoes. Tianshuxia Gorge is wilder; the patterns on the rocks resemble ancient script, which middle and high school students will find interesting. Mancheng Pass Ancient Town is small; you can explore it in half a day. 📍 You can visit the Mule Caravan Guild Hall on the Ming and Qing Dynasty Old Street. Baita Temple is a good option if you're passing by; the pagoda forest is quiet and perfect for a leisurely walk with children. Shangluo has a slow pace overall, and food and accommodation are inexpensive. 🍜 Shangzhou's hand-pulled noodles and glutinous rice cakes are delicious, even at the small street stalls. Stay in Shangluo city; it's convenient to drive to various attractions. Highways are free during the National Day holiday, but there are many curves in the mountains, so drive slowly. 5️⃣ Daxinganling | Heilongjiang Going to Daxinganling during the National Day holiday is to see the autumn colors. The birch forests in Beiji Village Tourist Area are completely yellow at this time of year, even more beautiful than in summer. ⏰ Late September to early October is the golden period; any later and the leaves will have fallen. Take your kids to the northernmost post office to send a postcard, and take photos in front of the northernmost family-run shop. ⚠️ The temperature difference between day and night is significant, so down jackets are a must, and don't forget gloves and hats for your kids. The Greater Khingan Mountains forest scenery is perfect for a road trip, with birch and larch trees alternating along the way, and every stop is a scenic view. Suitable for elementary school students and older; younger children may fuss after a long car ride. Enjoy Northeastern-style iron pot stew and blueberry jam, 🍜 at the farmhouses in Beiji Village – the portions are generous. Stay in Mohe city or Beiji Village; accommodations are limited during the National Day holiday, so book in advance. 6️⃣ Huangshan|Anhui For families with children in Huangshan, I recommend visiting the ancient villages first before heading up the mountain. Xidi and Hongcun, ancient villages in southern Anhui, are suitable for all ages. Many students sketch by the Moon Pond in Hongcun, and kids will enjoy watching the fun. ⏰ Nanhu Lake at 6:30 am is like a painting when there are no people around. The ancient city of Huizhou in the Ancient Huizhou Cultural Tourism Area, with its city walls and archways, is worth a visit. Chengkan Ancient Village is less crowded, but its Bagua layout makes it easy to get lost; 📍 Follow the signs and avoid wandering into alleys. ⚠️ Strollers are inconvenient on the village's stone-paved roads; baby carriers are recommended for young children. Huangshan's scenery itself is too tiring to climb the entire way with children. Taking the cable car up and down and only hiking from Shixin Peak to Guangming Peak is sufficient. Staying in Tangkou Town and heading into the mountains early the next morning is cheaper than staying on the mountain itself. For hairy tofu and stinky mandarin fish, 🍜 choose the most popular restaurant in Tunxi Old Street. During the National Day holiday, the Huangshan cable car queue is long; try to catch the first train. 7️⃣ Xining|Qinghai Xining is the starting point of the Northwest Loop. If you're bringing kids for the National Day holiday, let them acclimatize before setting off. Ta'er Monastery is suitable for children from elementary school onwards; the butter sculptures and appliqué embroidery are worth seeing. ⏰ Go in the morning for better lighting and fewer crowds. ⚠️ Photography is not allowed inside the temples, so tell your kids beforehand. The Dongguan Great Mosque has beautiful architecture; just stroll around the entrance. Remember to respect local customs and avoid revealing clothing. Xining city is small; 📍 Mojia Street and Shuijing Lane markets are next to each other, making it convenient for shopping and eating. Try hand-pulled mutton, liangpi (cold skin noodles), and sweet fermented rice. 🍜 Ma Zhong Restaurant on Mojia Street is crowded, but the food is consistently good. Stay near Ximen or Dashizi for easy access to the train station and airport. The altitude is around 2200 meters. If your child feels dizzy, make sure they drink plenty of water and avoid running and jumping. It's already cold in Xining during the National Day holiday, so bring a jacket. 8️⃣ Ningbo|Zhejiang Ningbo is perfect for a short family trip during the National Day holiday, with a comfortable pace. Tianyi Pavilion and Yuehu Lake are adjacent, combining gardens and a library; kids can easily spend half a day feeding the fish at Yuehu Lake. ⏰ After 4 pm, the light at Yuehu Lake is soft, making for beautiful photos. 📍 The Mahjong Museum inside Tianyi Pavilion is more interesting to adults than children. The Xikou Tengtou Tourist Area is suitable for families with elderly members. Tengtou Village has a good ecological environment, and children love the mini-train and fruit picking. Qiantong Ancient Town is less crowded; ⏰ go at dusk when the smoke from the chimneys rises is the most charming. ⚠️ There are no railings along the streams in the ancient town, so keep a close eye on young children. Eat Ningbo Tangyuan (sweet rice balls) and seafood noodles; 🍜 Gangyagou is a well-established brand. Stay in Haishu District; Tianyi Pavilion is within walking distance, and Xikou is about an hour's drive away. Of these eight places, I most recommend Dali and Yichang. One offers a slower pace of life, while the other is perfect for enjoying water activities and mountain scenery. Where are you planning to take your kids during the National Day holiday? Let's chat in the comments!

An autumn trip to the Three Confucius Sites in Qufu is perfect for those who want to combine ancient architecture with seasonal scenery in one trip. Spend the first day exploring the Confucius Temple, Confucius Mansion, and Banbi Street within the Ming Ancient City, and the second day walking through the Confucius Forest. The ginkgo trees turning yellow depends on the season, so don't assume they will be fully golden before you depart. Day 1 | Confucius Temple, Confucius Mansion, and autumn scenery in the ancient city Start at the Confucius Temple in the Ming Ancient City, follow the central axis to see the architectural layout, and make sure to stop at the Dacheng Hall. In autumn, keep an eye on the ginkgo trees in the courtyards, as the leaf color changes with the season. Afterward, visit the adjacent Confucius Mansion to experience the family's living quarters and daily life beyond the sacrificial spaces. You can arrange lunch in the ancient city area and try some Confucius Mansion pastries. In the afternoon, walk along Banbi Street to see the alleys and ancient city views, and also look out for the ginkgo trees along the way. Jining's autumn viewing guides list Banbi Street as a ginkgo viewing spot, but note that the leaves may not have fully turned yellow in October. The actual viewing status depends on the time. If it rains that day or you want to avoid being outdoors for too long, you can use the Confucius Museum as an indoor alternative. Just check the opening information before adjusting your plans. Day 2 | Confucius Forest and indoor exhibition alternative Dedicate the second day to the Confucius Forest. The park is quite large, so follow the on-site walking guides, walk along the sacred path to see the trees and stone carvings, and then head to the area around Confucius's tomb. In autumn, you can observe the changing colors in the forest, but the state of fallen leaves and ginkgo trees can vary from year to year and day to day. There is no need to rush just to chase a specific color. If your return time allows, you can go to the Confucius Museum afterward to see the collection of artifacts, adding an indoor visit to your experience of ancient architecture and family history. If you are short on time, make the Confucius Forest the focus of the day and don't force the museum into your itinerary. Staying near the Ming Ancient City for both days makes it more convenient to connect the Three Confucius Sites and Banbi Street. After arriving in Qufu, choose your transportation to your accommodation based on the actual situation. Check the opening arrangements for the scenic spots and the museum through official channels before you depart.

Before you leave for National Day, check out these 5️⃣ spots people say are worth it 01 Guangyuan | Sichuan Mornings at Jianmen Pass are foggy. Enter through the north gate; the stone steps are slippery, so make sure your shoes have good traction. ⏰ Arrive at the pass tower before 8 AM, when light hits the cliffside at an angle and you can take photos without fighting for a spot. 📍 For a tofu feast in Jianmen Pass town, try Gou family tofu. Their tofu is crispy on the outside and tender inside. About CNY 40 per person is filling. If you don't want to hike the whole route, take the cable car to Xiannv Corridor, then walk a short plank road to experience the highlight of "Shu Road is hard." This route is easy for seniors and children. ⚠️ During National Day, entry to the pass tower is limited. Book in advance through official channels; on-site ticket purchase will likely mean waiting over an hour. Take the high-speed train to Jianmen Pass station; there is a shuttle bus outside. Ignore private cars soliciting passengers. 02 Hulunbuir | Inner Mongolia Visiting the grasslands during National Day means the grass is already yellow, but that makes the vastness look even more desolate and beautiful. 🚄 Get off at Hailar station and hire a car toward the Morigele River. A driver who also acts as a guide costs about CNY 500 per day. ⏰ The light at 4 PM is the softest. From the high ground near Jinzhanhan, you can watch the river wind across the yellow grasslands. The wind is strong enough to blow your hat off. 🍜 Try Erlgana's rye bread with blueberry jam, and for braised mutton go to Grassland Restaurant. Portions are generous; a small portion for two is enough. ⚠️ During National Day, the grasslands can have a 15°C temperature swing between day and night. Wear a sweatshirt at noon and a down jacket at night. Don't trust low‑price "horseback grassland tours"—most just lead horses on a short walk. 03 Taiyuan | Shanxi The grottoes at Tianlong Mountain are more impressive than expected, but the road up is narrow and traffic jams during National Day are common. 📍 It's best to leave the city at 7:30 AM, take Jinci Road to the Tianlong Mountain tourism road, and you can reach the summit parking lot before 9 AM. The Jinci Museum deserves at least two hours. The Song dynasty polychrome sculpture in the Mother of Saints Hall and the sound of the water at Nanlao Spring are more vivid than the audio guide suggests. ⚠️ Closed on Mondays. Don't make a wasted trip. Jinyang Lake Park is nice at dusk. Rent a bike and ride around the lake; at sunset the water gleams gold. Locals bring kids and dogs here. 🍜 After descending, head to Yijing snack street for dipped skewers and bowl-shaped steamed cakes. About CNY 20 per person will leave you full. Good for bringing parents, but elders with mobility issues should take the park sightseeing bus. 04 Jining | Shandong The core of Qufu's Three Confucian Sites is the Confucius Temple and the Confucius Mansion; the Confucius Forest is large and can be skipped if short on time. ⏰ Enter at opening at 8 AM to avoid tour group crowds. Rent an audio guide; otherwise you're just looking at buildings without context. 📍 Don't miss the Xingtan altar and the Thirteen Stele Pavilion in the temple; the calligraphy on the steles is worth a close look. ⚠️ Buy the combo ticket in advance. There are few ticket windows on site, and queues during National Day can exceed 30 minutes. Weishan Lake scenic area is best in the afternoon. Take a boat tour; lotus are gone in October, but the reed beds and lake seafood remain. 🍜 Salted duck eggs and four-nose carp from Weishan Lake are specialties. Lakeside homestays cook fresh, about CNY 60 per person. Doing both sites in one day is rushed. Suggest half a day in Qufu and half a day at Weishan Lake, or split into two days. Good for people who want both culture and nature. 05 Jiangmen | Guangdong Kaiping diaolou are best seen in Zili Village and Majanglong. Zili Village has the densest cluster of diaolou, with rice fields around them. In October the rice is turning yellow, great for photos. 🚄 It's about an hour by taxi from Jiangmen station; carpooling costs about CNY 30 per person. 📍 You can climb to the top of Mingshi Tower for the best view, but the stairs are steep, so dresses are inconvenient. ⚠️ During National Day the Zili Village parking lot is packed. Park outside and walk in to avoid getting stuck at the gate. 🍜 Tangkou town's claypot rice and tofu pockets are local specialties. Small shops under the arcade are cheaper than those in tourist areas. If you only visit one spot, Zili Village is enough. Good for architecture and photography lovers; two hours is enough for a casual stroll. 06 Anqing | Anhui Tianzhu Mountain is really windy, especially along the ridge, where hats can't stay on. ⏰ Enter the south gate at 7 AM, take the cable car to Zhenyigang, then hike up via Mysterious Valley. The whole route takes about four hours. 📍 The Mysterious Valley has narrow rock crevices to wriggle through. It's fun but hard on the knees—bringing hiking poles saves a lot of effort. ⚠️ Cable car lines can be an hour during National Day. Fit hikers may be faster going up on foot. 🍜 After descending, go to Qianshan county for rice noodle balls with braised pork. Local countryside restaurants taste more authentic than those by the ticket gate. About CNY 50 per person. Suitable for hikers, but elders and young children shouldn't do the Mysterious Valley. They can take the cable car to the top and follow the loop trail. It's cool on the mountain in October, so bring a windproof jacket. 07 Haikou | Hainan Wugong Temple is best visited in the morning when it's quiet. An hour is enough to see the ancient buildings and tropical plants. 📍 "Yao's spicy soup rice" on Hongcheng Lake Road is a local breakfast with a strong pepper flavor, served with sausage and a fried egg. One bowl is CNY 15. The Qilou old street is worth visiting in the afternoon; many time-honored shops hide among the Nanyang‑style buildings. 🍜 At Shui Xiang Kou, the spicy soup rice and Wu Ribiao's garlic ribs are worth queuing for. Avoid going at noon when there's nowhere to escape the sun. Volcanic crater park is best reached before dusk. Climb up for panoramic views of Haikou; it's cooler than downtown. ⚠️ The crater steps are slippery; don't wear flats after rain. Haikou is good for a slow-paced trip. Three spots in one day is just right. Renting an electric scooter is most convenient, and taxis are cheap. 08 Fangchenggang | Guangxi Leshan ancient fishing village is a quiet little village where you can find small crabs and shells on the mudflats at low tide. ⏰ Arrive at 4 PM for soft light and finish taking photos in time to have seafood in the village. 📍 The village's big food stalls are known for sandworm porridge and charcoal-grilled oysters. Oysters are CNY 10 for four, cheaper than Beihai. ⚠️ Accommodation in the fishing village is tight during National Day. Stay in Fangchenggang city and drive 40 minutes in. The Fangchenggang coastal area is great for self-driving. Drive from Xiwang Cross-sea Bridge to Bailang Beach for wide ocean views and frequent photo stops. Good for those who don't want crowded popular islands. The pace is slow and prices are low, but water quality is average—don't expect too much. The water is a bit cool for swimming in October; paddling and walking on the beach is enough. These eight places are enough for 2–3 stops during National Day. Which one do you most want to visit, or do you have other hidden city picks? Share in the comments.

From October to November, flight and hotel prices drop from their summer highs, and wait times at attractions are cut in half. These 8 places have perfect autumn scenery and low costs, making them perfect for getting the most out of your annual leave. 01 Baoting | Hainan In Hainan, October to November sees less rain than summer, and the temperature isn't as stifling. Baoting is south of Wuzhishan; it's cooler than Sanya, but accommodation prices are much lower. 📍 The Betel Nut Valley Li and Miao Cultural Tourism Zone is north of Baoting, about a 30-minute taxi ride from the county seat. Inside, you'll see Li-style boat-shaped houses and Miao embroidery; the intangible cultural heritage displays are more authentic than just photo-op spots. ⏰ We recommend going in the morning and finishing before noon, as the light is too harsh in the afternoon. The Yanoda Rainforest Cultural Tourism Zone is great for those who enjoy walking. The rainforest boardwalk is fully shaded, making it comfortable to walk in November. ⚠️ The ground is slippery, so wear non-slip shoes and avoid white ones. Check official announcements for the latest on admission and shuttle bus tickets. 🍜 Head back to the county seat for meals; the Hainan rice noodles and Qingbuliang (chilled dessert) at roadside shops are more affordable than in Sanya. Staying in Baoting is significantly cheaper than in Sanya, making it a great stopover in Hainan. 02 Yuxi | Yunnan Yuxi's autumn isn't famous for red leaves, but for its lakes and mountains. From October to November, the water level at Fuxian Lake is stable, and the wind isn't as strong as in spring. 📍 Fuxian Lake is in Chengjiang, about an hour's drive from downtown Yuxi. The lakeside is great for cycling; the east bank is less crowded, while the west bank has more amenities. ⏰ The light hits at an angle after 4:00 PM, making the lake look its best. The Ailao Mountain area is worth a full day. The mountain roads are winding, so drive carefully. There's a large temperature difference between day and night in November, so bring a jacket. ⚠️ Visibility is low in foggy weather, so avoid driving at night. 🍜 Eat eel rice noodles in downtown Yuxi; local shops are more reliable than those near the attractions. You can stay in Chengjiang or downtown Yuxi; choose the city center if you're on a budget, as hotel rates are lower. 03 Bayingolin | Xinjiang October to November is the window for seeing the Populus euphratica forests in southern Xinjiang. Bayingolin is vast, and the attractions are far apart, so it's best suited for self-driving or hiring a car. 📍 The Tarim Populus Euphratica Forest Park is toward Luntai, with the best yellow foliage from late October to early November. ⏰ The light is soft before 10:00 AM and in the evening; photos taken at noon tend to look washed out. ⚠️ The park is large and shuttle bus frequency is limited, so check the last bus time in advance. Bayanbulak is along the Duku Highway; it may be closed after October due to weather, so be sure to confirm road conditions before setting off. The edge of the Taklamakan Desert is great for sunsets, but it's windy, so scarves and sunglasses are essential. 🚄 Korla is the hub, accessible by train and flight. Stay in downtown Korla, where prices are lower than around the attractions. For food, try pilaf and baked buns; they're filling and affordable. 04 Guiyang | Guizhou In Guiyang, October to November is crisp and clear with less rain than in summer. There are many surrounding attractions, and most are covered by bus and subway, making it perfect for budget travelers who don't want to rent a car. 📍 Tianhetan Tourist Resort is in the Huaxi direction, featuring a combination of karst caves and waterfalls. ⏰ Enter the caves in the morning and explore the waterfront in the afternoon. ⚠️ The caves are slippery with many steps, so seniors should walk slowly. Qingyan Ancient Town is good for half a day. There's no general admission fee for the town itself, but individual attractions charge separately. 🍜 Braised pig's trotters and rose sugar are the signature dishes; they're expensive on the main street, so head into the alleys for better prices. The Gaopo Yunding Grassland turns yellow in November; it's windy and great for watching the sunset. Huaxi Park is free and perfect for a morning stroll. You can stay in Huaxi or the city center; staying along the subway line saves on transportation costs. 05 Baoding | Hebei October to November is when the autumn colors in the Taihang Mountains are at their best in Baoding. Baishishan and Yesanpo have distinct layers of foliage, while the Western Qing Tombs are more about history and culture. 📍 Baishishan is in Laiyuan, known for its glass skywalk and mountain peaks. ⏰ Go up the mountain in the morning to avoid the midday crowds. ⚠️ It's windy at the summit; bring a thick jacket in October, and it's even colder in November. Yesanpo is good for a two-day, one-night trip, and Bailixia is comfortable to walk. The Western Qing Tombs are in Yixian County; the ancient pines and stone archways are worth a slow visit, and there are far fewer people than in peak season. In Anxin, the reeds at Baiyangdian Lake turn yellow in November; taking a boat to see the reeds is a seasonal highlight. 🚄 Baoding East Station is convenient for high-speed rail, but you'll need to transfer to a bus or drive to reach the attractions. Stay in Laiyuan or Yixian county seats; prices are lower than near the attractions. 06 Jining | Shandong Jining's autumn is perfect for a mix of culture and nature. You can plan for both Qufu and Weishan Lake between October and November at a relaxed pace. 📍 The Qufu Ming Ancient City (Three Confucius Sites) is best visited in the morning; you can visit the Confucius Temple and Confucius Mansion back-to-back. ⏰ Arrive when it opens before the tour groups arrive. ⚠️ Book a guide in advance; don't just follow people soliciting business on-site. The lotus flowers at Weishan Lake Tourist Area have faded by November, but the reeds and lake delicacies are the seasonal highlights. If you take a boat tour, it's windy, so bring a windbreaker. 🍜 Eat fish and lotus root in the lake area, and choose restaurants with clearly marked prices. 🚄 You can reach Qufu East Station and Jining North Station by high-speed rail. Stay near the old city of Qufu to walk to the Three Confucius Sites and save on taxi fares. 07 Lianyungang | Jiangsu In Lianyungang, October to November is windy by the sea, but less crowded, and accommodation prices are half what they are in summer. It's perfect for a short weekend trip. 📍 Huaguoshan is in the southeast of the city, and Yunu Peak is the highest point in Jiangsu. ⏰ Hike in the morning and come down in the afternoon. ⚠️ The cable car queue is long, so walk the trail if you have the energy. Liandao is great for sea views; you can't swim in November, but walking along the seaside boardwalk is very pleasant. 🍜 Go to the Xugou Market area for seafood; it's more authentic than the restaurants near the attractions. You can stay in downtown Lianyungang or on Liandao; off-season hotel rates are reasonable. 🚄 Lianyungang Station is accessible by high-speed rail, and it's about a 20-minute taxi ride to Huaguoshan. Two days and one night is enough; no need to pack your schedule too full. 08 Ganzhou | Jiangxi October to November in Ganzhou is the prelude to the autumn colors of southern Jiangxi and the navel orange season. Shicheng and Sanbaishan offer a mix of village scenery and mountain views. 📍 Shicheng is in the northeast of Ganzhou; the maple leaves gradually turn red in November, and the combination of ancient villages and red leaves is a classic seasonal scene. ⏰ It looks best in the early morning mist, which clears after 10:00 AM. ⚠️ The village roads are narrow, so be careful when passing other cars if you're driving. Sanbaishan is in Anyuan, with high forest coverage; walking the boardwalks in November is comfortable. It's great for hikers, and seniors can choose the flatter sections. 🍜 Eat stir-fried fish and rice noodles in Ganzhou; local shops in the city have low prices. 🚄 Ganzhou West Station is convenient for high-speed rail; it's recommended to drive or hire a car to get to Shicheng and Sanbaishan. Stay in downtown Ganzhou, where hotel rates are lower than around the attractions. These 8 places are in their off-season window from October to November, meaning fewer crowds, lower prices, and great autumn scenery. Pick one for a weekend getaway—don't wait until December when it's crowded and you'll regret it. Tell me in the comments which one you want to visit most, and I'll help you calculate the budget.

Nishan Sacred Land is located at No. 9 Shengxiang Road, Qufu City, Jining, Shandong Province. 📍 Covering an area of 8 square kilometers, it is not only the birthplace of Confucius but also a comprehensive Confucian culture theme park. As you stroll through it, you will feel as if you have traveled back a thousand years, engaging in a dialogue across time and space with the Great Sage. 🌿 🏔️ **Origin of the sacred land** Five peaks stand side by side at Nishan, where five rivers converge. Nestled among the mountains and waters are Luyuan Village, where Confucius's father lived, Yanmu Village, where his mother lived, and the Fuzi Cave, where Confucius was born. This forms a unique landscape of sacred mountains, sacred waters, and sacred land, along with a cultural framework of sacred father, sacred mother, and sacred sage, which is the origin of Nishan Sacred Land. ✨ 📸 **Must-visit attractions** 🗿 **Confucius statue** The 72-meter-tall Confucius statue stands atop tiered pedestals. It was designed by Chinese sculptor Wu Xianlin, based on Wu Daozi's "Portrait of Confucius Teaching." Cast in bronze using a bold, expressive style, it looks like a massive, profound mountain from a distance, leaving viewers in awe! The pedestal is 18.1 meters high, and the statue itself is 11 meters tall, with every inch reflecting the artisan's dedication. 🏛️ **Grand Hall** Built into the mountainside with a terraced design, it integrates a museum, ceremonial hall, lecture hall, conference center, and performance venue. At night, the Grand Hall is brilliantly illuminated, perfectly blending the modern with the classical. Every photo you take here looks like a masterpiece! 🥰 🎨 **Gallery of the Seventy-two Sages** This cultural space is 105 meters long, 17.5 meters wide, and 16 meters high. The walls feature the oil painting "Teaching at the Apricot Altar," and both sides display 30 groups of clay sculptures, each depicting classic stories from the "Analects," "Records of the Grand Historian," and "Zuo Zhuan." Wandering through it, you can almost hear the rhythmic chanting of Confucius's disciples. 📖 🏯 **Nishan Academy** Located within the Confucius Temple complex, it features gray tiles and a hard-mountain roof, exuding a simple and elegant charm. This was once an important place for teaching and commemorating Confucius. As you walk into the courtyard, time seems to slow down, making it the perfect place to clear your mind, meditate, and relax. 🍃 🕳️ **Fuzi Cave site** You can reach it by walking down the steps from Nishan Academy. Also known as "Kunling Cave," it is said to be the birthplace of Confucius! Archaeological findings have confirmed it as a site dating from the Shang to the Han dynasties, and it is a cultural relic protection unit of Qufu City. Standing on this land, you can feel the weight of history rushing toward you. 🌟 🌙 **Nighttime experience** The nighttime experience at Nishan Sacred Land is truly amazing! The wooden halls inside the exhibition center look exceptionally warm under the lights, while the outdoor architecture glows with brilliant colors, creating a dreamy atmosphere where the modern and traditional intertwine. Whether you are photographing the architecture or taking portraits, every shot is stunning! 💫 A visit to Nishan Sacred Land is more than just a trip; it is a spiritual cleansing.

Don't just look at popular spots for budget travel during the National Day holiday; here are 8 places with fewer crowds and lower costs 01 Huangnan | Qinghai If you want to avoid the crowds during the National Day holiday, head to the southeast corner of Qinghai. The Danxia landforms of Kanbula paired with the Yellow River water—in October, the grass turns yellow, and the light makes it look like it's been color-graded. ⏰ Enter the scenic area before 10:00 AM to avoid backlighting and get the clearest shots of Lijiaxia Reservoir 🚄 There are buses from Xining Bus Station to Jianzha, then take a taxi to Kanbula Town. Carpooling costs around CNY 50 per person. Staying in Jianzha County is half the price of staying at the scenic area entrance, and you can browse Tibetan-style shops in the evening. ⚠️ The internal sightseeing bus in Kanbula requires an extra fee. The hiking routes are long, so if you are traveling with seniors, it is recommended to take the bus directly to the viewing platform. The temperature difference between morning and evening in October is significant, so don't worry about the weight of a light down jacket. Admission tickets and bus tickets are subject to official daily announcements. 02 Suqian | Jiangsu The Hongze Lake Wetland area is unrealistically quiet during the National Day holiday. The reeds are just starting to turn white, and the dawn redwoods are still green; taking a boat through them feels like entering a green tunnel. 📍 Enter from the West Gate of the Wetland Park and walk counterclockwise for the smoothest route 🍜 Leave the scenic area and go to Sihong County to eat small fish pot stickers. The restaurants by the lake are expensive and mediocre; locals eat in the city. Staying in Sihong saves over CNY 100 compared to staying at a lakeside homestay, and a taxi ride there is only about CNY 20 ⚠️ The bird-watching tower closes at 5:00 PM, so don't arrive right at closing time. Mosquitoes are still active in October, so carry mosquito repellent with you. This place is suitable for children and seniors as it is flat the whole way and easy for strollers. 03 Lhasa | Tibet Lhasa during the National Day holiday is just right in the sun during the day, but cool enough at night to need a thick jacket. The Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple are still the main attractions, but Namtso is the place that will make you stop and stare for a long time. ⏰ Potala Palace tickets are released early in the morning; book quickly before they sell out 📍 The Barkhor circuit around Jokhang Temple is quietest in the early morning. Follow the flow of people for a lap, and sweet tea at the teahouses on Barkhor Street is CNY 5 per pot. A round trip to Namtso in one day is too rushed; staying in Damxung for one night is more relaxed 🚄 The starting taxi fare in the city is CNY 10, and carpooling to Namtso costs about CNY 200 per person ⚠️ Don't push yourself if you have altitude sickness; don't shower or run/jump on the first day. Ticket booking rules are subject to official announcements; don't trust scalpers. 04 Anshan | Liaoning In Qianshan, the red leaves are just starting to change color during the National Day holiday, and there are far fewer people than in Benxi. 📍 Go up the mountain from Wuliang Temple and see the panoramic view from Wufoding; if you can't walk, take the cable car ⏰ Enter the mountain at 7:00 AM and reach the top before 10:00 AM for the best light and fewer crowds 🍜 After coming down the mountain, go to Tiedong to eat Niuzhuang meat pies—thin skin, big filling—paired with lamb soup. Stay at an express hotel near the station for just over CNY 100, and take bus route 8 directly to Qianshan ⚠️ There are few supply points on the mountain, so bring your own water and dry food. The wind in the mountains is strong in October, so bring thin gloves. If traveling with kids, it is recommended to take the section from Jiabianshi to Tianshangtian, which is fun but watch your step. 05 Jining | Shandong Qufu and Weishan Lake—one for ancient architecture and one for water—are perfect to combine for a National Day trip. 📍 Visit the "Three Confucius Sites" in the order of Confucius Temple, Confucius Mansion, and Confucius Forest; don't go in reverse, or you'll have to backtrack ⏰ Enter the Confucius Temple as soon as it opens at 8:00 AM before the tour groups arrive for peaceful photo opportunities 🍜 For lunch, go to the old town of Qufu to eat smoked tofu and braised pork with rice; don't settle for food at the scenic area entrance. In the afternoon, take the high-speed train for half an hour to Weishan Lake to see the reed marshes and the remnants of lotus flowers; October is the perfect time to eat crab ⚠️ The joint ticket for the Three Confucius Sites is valid for three days, so don't lose it. Weishan Lake boat tours have different routes, so ask clearly before buying. Staying in downtown Jining is cheaper than staying in Qufu, and both bus and high-speed train access are convenient. 06 Heihe | Heilongjiang Wudalianchi is perfect for a National Day trip to catch the volcanic landforms paired with autumn colors. 📍 Laoheishan and Huoshaoshan are must-visits; the stone sea looks like frozen black waves ⏰ The light is slanted after 3:00 PM, which is best for photographing the stone sea 🍜 Mineral water tofu and mineral water fish are local specialties; go to the town outside the scenic area to eat, which is 30% cheaper than inside the scenic area. Stay in Yaoquan Town and soak in a cold mineral spring to relieve fatigue 🚄 Take a train from Harbin to Bei'an, then transfer to get there; driving yourself is more convenient ⚠️ The distances between scenic spots are long, and it is very inconvenient without a car; it is recommended to charter a car or join a one-day tour. The wind is strong in October, so don't skip the hat and scarf. 07 Baishan | Jilin Going to Changbai Mountain during the National Day holiday means seeing Heaven Lake depends entirely on luck, but the autumn colors are guaranteed. 📍 The North Slope has more attractions, while the West Slope has fewer stairs; choose the West Slope if traveling with seniors ⏰ Arrive at the mountain gate before 7:00 AM, or you'll be waiting in line until you question your life choices 🍜 After coming down the mountain, go to Erdaobaihe Town to eat Korean-style cold noodles and barbecue, which is much cheaper than on the mountain. Stay at a homestay in town for just over CNY 100 a night; the environment is better than inside the scenic area ⚠️ Whether you can see Heaven Lake depends on the weather, so don't set your expectations too high. It's below freezing at the summit in October, so don't worry about how the rented coat looks. Buy admission tickets and bus tickets separately, and they are subject to official daily announcements. 08 Yingtan | Jiangxi Longhu Mountain has fewer people during the National Day holiday than Lushan; the Danxia landforms paired with the Luxi River make for a very comfortable bamboo raft ride. 📍 Visit Shangqing Ancient Town and Tianshi Mansion first, take a bamboo raft in the afternoon, and watch the hanging coffin performance at dusk ⏰ The light is soft for bamboo rafting after 4:00 PM 🍜 Shangqing tofu and chestnut braised chicken are local flavors; eating in the ancient town is more practical than at the scenic area entrance. Stay in downtown Yingtan; the bus to Longhu Mountain takes half an hour, which saves a lot compared to staying in the scenic area ⚠️ The hanging coffin performance has fixed showtimes, so ask for the time when you enter. It's still hot in Jiangxi in October, so don't stop using sunscreen. It's suitable for seniors; the bamboo raft is stable, and the whole trip is not tiring. Budget travel during the National Day holiday is all about fewer crowds, saving money, and not being exhausted. Of these 8 places, the ones I want to visit again the most are Kanbula and Wudalianchi. How about you? Which one are you most excited about?

The gate of Zeng Temple faces south, with a stone path in front lined by old cypress trees. We arrived early, so there were few people in the courtyard, and the shadows stretched long across the brick floor. Jiaxiang is west of Jining, less than an hour's drive from the city center. Along the road, stone carving workshops gradually appear, with slabs of blue stone standing in the yards. The local stonemasonry is famous here. We only visited 3 places over 2 days: Zeng Temple, the Wu Family Shrines, and Qingshan Mountain outside the city. With a 7-year-old in tow, planning 2 spots a day is plenty. Zeng Temple is an ancient architectural complex with a long history. Upon entering, you find several courtyards with halls arranged along a central axis, featuring red walls, gray tiles, and upturned eaves. The roof frames are made of wood, supported by stone bases under the pillars, and if you look up, you can see the dougong brackets stacked layer by layer. The old cypress trees in the courtyard have twisted trunks, with bark cracked into deep grooves. Stone railings stand on the platform in front of the hall, with panels carved with floral and cloud patterns. Having weathered the elements, their edges have become rounded. There are also several stone steles in the courtyard; some characters are deep, others shallow—it is best to view them from outside the railing. On a nice day, the light shines obliquely onto the painted beams, revealing some of their former vibrancy. When visiting places like this with a child, there is no need to memorize historical anecdotes; just show them how the buildings were constructed and how the stones were stacked. The steles and artifacts in the halls are cultural relics; it is fine to stand close and look at the patterns, but please do not touch them. The thresholds are high and the steps can be slippery, so hold their hand and walk slowly. We returned to the city for lunch. In the Jining area, braised pork with rice and pepper soup are staple dishes. The braised pork consists of chunks of meat stewed in a jar, with a mix of fat and lean, served over rice. The pepper soup is fragrant and piping hot. I ordered a bowl of non-spicy noodles and a side of vegetables for my child, and mixed some shredded meat into the rice; he finished it all. The Wu Family Shrines are located in the countryside outside the city. It is a site of Han Dynasty tomb stone carvings, now protected by exhibition halls and courtyards. The portrait stones inside are relics passed down from the Han Dynasty, with surfaces covered in intricate patterns. The carvings are fine and detailed, featuring chariots, horses, clouds, various mythical beasts, and surrounding geometric patterns. The lines are primitive, and the knife marks from 2,000 years ago are still visible. The stones have been polished smooth by time and have a bluish hue. When viewing them, stand back, do not touch them, and do not let your child trace the stone surfaces with their hands. The exhibition hall includes rubbings and explanations, which help you roughly understand how these patterns are arranged. Once children learn to read, they tend to ask endless questions about the patterns, which is a perfect opportunity to explain how these stones were discovered and how they are protected. The Wu Family Shrines site is not large, but if you take your time, you can examine it in great detail. The next morning, we went up Qingshan Mountain. The mountain is not high, and the path is lined with pine and cypress trees. The stone steps are gentle, making for an easy walk. There are a few small temples on the hillside with simple architecture; a quick look around is enough. From the top, you can see the surrounding fields and villages. In golden autumn, the trees display rich, layered colors that stretch into the distance. It is windy at the summit, so make sure to button up your child's collar. The stone carving market at the foot of the mountain is also on the way. Along both sides of the road, there is a row of workshops carving lions, steles, and railings, with the sound of chisels clinking against stone. Take your child for a walk around to see the whole process of carving, chiseling, and polishing. If you want to buy a small ornament as a souvenir, be sure to negotiate the price first. Regarding food and accommodation, we stayed in the county town and chose a clean budget hotel that offered parking and a full breakfast. If you prefer peace and quiet, there are also homestays in the suburbs. The small restaurants in the county town offer stir-fried dishes and noodles at affordable prices with generous portions. A few things to keep in mind: The Wu Family Shrines are closed on Mondays, while Zeng Temple is open as usual, so call ahead before you go. Admission tickets are inexpensive. The Wu Family Shrines are not very close to the county town; driving yourself is convenient, but if you take a taxi, ask the driver in advance if they will wait for you. The mountain path has many steps, so wear shoes with deep treads that provide good grip on stone steps, and bring enough water. Before heading back, we stopped by the stone carving square for one last look. A vendor was polishing a new piece of stone, and stone dust covered the ground. My child stood and watched for a while before finally agreeing to get in the car.

Photography: The afternoon light is better for photographing the ancient buildings in the courtyard. There is plenty of shade on the mountain, making it feel cool in the summer. 3. Supplies: There are very few shops in the scenic area, so bring your own drinking water. There are many steps, so wear comfortable shoes. 4. Great for nostalgia: The mountain forest is quiet and secluded, perfect for those "revisiting a place after six years." Enjoy the scenery on the mountain and explore history in the courtyard for a great atmosphere.
