There are paths with tree roots and small shrines along the way, giving it an anime-like feel. 💧 Kifune Shrine (貴船神社) A shrine in the middle of a valley with red lanterns lined up the stairs – a beautiful and memorable sight. The first cherry blossoms of the year have started to bloom! The Kawazu-Zakura Cherry Trees in Yodo are just a short trip from central Kyoto, and you're guaranteed to leave completely in awe. It's a spectacular spot packed with cherry blossom trees lining both sides of the Yodo Canal. The vibe is amazing, and honestly, it's drop-dead gorgeous. Every photo you take will look picture-perfect from any angle. Pin this location and get ready for your trip to Japan! BAL Department Store in Kyoto is a must-visit spot for those in the know. With a diverse range of brands available—including Mariage Frères (a black tea brand) and Kotoshina (a tea brand) perfect for gifts, perfume brands like Byredo and Diptyque, famous cafes by Muji and Ralph Lauren, the Japanese lifestyle specialty store 'Today's Special' (particularly famous for kitchenware such as copper beer mugs, wasabi graters, short-handled ladles, and toasters), and the high-end select shop Edition—there is truly plenty to see on every floor. Be sure to also visit BAL's restrooms, which are reminiscent of those at Liberty Department Store in London. 🫶🏻 Okay, enough of the introduction. My particular favorite spots are the bookstore and stationery shop located on the first and second basement floors of BAL. If you are a traveler to Kyoto, you have likely purchased pretty envelopes, stamps, or small trinkets at the Nishiki Market shopping street. I don't think there is any reason to pass up this place, which operates on the same concept as Kyobo Book Centre's Hottracks in Korea, offering a wide variety of books and stationery in a comfortable space complete with both air conditioning and heating. Especially if you are traveling with tired parents and children who want to browse more, I recommend sitting them down on the chairs near the underground escalator while you look around. If you get too exhausted and hungry while shopping, visiting the Hayashi Rice restaurant located in a corner of the bookstore floor (pictured) is a good idea, or I recommend having a meal at the Muji restaurant on the 5th floor. Other structures within the temple grounds have not been restored, leaving Yasaka Pagoda as a prominent landmark in the Gion district to this day. Getting there: 1. Anyone visiting might not notice it, but we were, so we researched it for you all. Raku Jinbyo Shrine (Raku Daimyojin) is a shrine built in the early Edo period. It features a single-room, arched structure with a tiled roof. It's located within the grounds of Kenninji Temple. Legend has it that the mother of Aisai, the monk who renovated Kenninji Temple, visited Raku Shrine, a branch of Okayama Kibitsu Shrine, and after seeing a rising star in a dream, became pregnant with Aisai. Therefore, the shrine is also known as "Myojo-den" (Rising Star Pavilion). The main Buddha statue at Raku Daimyojin Shrine is the Bodhisattva Kokuzo.
