Huizhou 3 days 2 nights | Dongjiang Hakka ancient town · Yanzhou wetland secret spot · Nankunshan valley summer escape guide (July–September) This itinerary avoids the popular beaches of Xunliao Bay and Shuangyue Bay. Huizhou is more than a coastal resort; it’s a thousand-year-old Dongjiang ancient city, featuring pristine island wetlands, the original valleys of Nankunshan, 500-year-old Hakka walled villages, and rich Dongjiang cultural heritage. From July to September, mountain temperatures are 7℃ cooler than the city. Lotus ponds bloom, egrets flock on the tidal flats, and after afternoon showers, the views clear up. The focus is on ancient alleys and culture, valley creek trekking, untouched tidal flats for relaxation, and visits to intangible cultural heritage villages. This route is completely different from any other coastal city. 1. Travel period notes (July–September) From July to August, Nankunshan’s streams are full, West Lake’s lotus ponds are in full bloom, and egrets return to roost in the Yanzhou mangroves at dusk. Days in the city are hot and humid, so ancestral halls, museums, and forested areas are best for midday cooling. September brings dry sea breezes, making seafood and wild mountain ingredients taste their best. Outdoor activities are best in early morning and evening. Mountains and coast have heavy humidity day and night, with noticeable temperature drops after dark. Essentials: high SPF sunscreen, umbrella for sun and rain, non-slip creek trekking shoes, strong mosquito repellent, light jacket, tide-gathering tools, ID card 2. Before you go (booking + transport + accommodation) 🎫 Tickets and reservations Luofu Mountain Chongxu Ancient Temple 60 CNY; Nankunshan Stone River wonder 30 CNY; Yanzhou Island is free, Guanyin Mountain windmill viewing platform has no ticket fee Huang Siyang Hakka ancient village is free; Huizhou Museum is free with WeChat reservation, closed on Mondays; Fengzhuyuan, Dongjiang Sand Park, and Fanhe ancient village are all free; Donghu hotel site is free for registered visits. 🚗 Main transport High-speed rail to Huizhou North Station is most convenient; Huicheng old town is best explored by bike. For Nankunshan and Yanzhou Island, carpooling with four people is safest for these remote spots. Mountain roads are winding and rainy season is not recommended for self-driving with regular cars. Avoid: low-cost roadside one-day shopping tours by the sea; do not drive into muddy tidal flats on Yanzhou; avoid following unlicensed guides into undeveloped wild streams in Nankunshan. 🏨 Accommodation choices Huicheng Jindai Street old town (top choice): 170–280 CNY, established Hakka snack area, central for rural shuttle buses, away from tourist price hikes Longmen Nankunshan foothills (summer escape choice): 160–270 CNY, right by forest streams, cool by day, no light pollution at night for stargazing Avoid: beachfront trendy homestays in summer due to humidity and mosquitoes; mountain-top homestays lack facilities and have unstable water and power. 3. 3 days 2 nights itinerary (ancient village + valley, two distinct routes) Day 1 Huizhou Museum → Fengzhuyuan lotus pond → Jindai Street ancient alley → Shuidong Street night view 9:00 indoor museum visit to explore Dongjiang history and Hakka culture, climate-controlled to escape the heat 14:00 stroll Fengzhuyuan, Lingnan garden lotus ponds in full bloom, shaded paths with no direct sun 16:30 Jindai Street original old street, well-preserved Ming and Qing residences and ancestral halls, no commercial renovation 19:30 walk along Dongjiang riverbank, ancient street lights reflecting on the water, taste authentic old town snacks Stay: Huicheng hotel Day 2 Nankunshan forest park → Stone River wonder creek trekking → Chuanlong waterfall 8:30 depart for Nankunshan, vast original broadleaf forest, mountain air rich in negative ions 13:00 rest and lunch at a farmhouse at the foot of the mountain, avoiding midday sun 15:30 hike Stone River wonder, wade through clear mountain pools and shallow streams to cool off, pass through bamboo forest secrets 18:30 wait for mountain sunset at the summit viewing platform, cool evening breeze for full relaxation Stay: Huicheng hotel Day 3 Yanzhou Baisha village mangroves → Huang Siyang walled village → buy souvenirs and return 9:00 head to Yanzhou Island, boardwalk through sea mangroves, tidal flats stretch endlessly at low tide 13:30 visit Huang Siyang 500-year-old Hakka village, oyster shell walls and old walled houses well preserved, experience Hakka architecture 15:30 shop in the city for specialties like preserved mustard greens and Mapo meatballs, pack and head to the station for departure 4. Local food highlights (unique to Dongjiang Hakka, not overlapping with Cantonese city cuisine) Hengli soup rice noodles: broth made from earth fish and shrimp shells, pork offal braised flavor with rice noodles, unique Huizhou breakfast, about 13 CNY per person Mapo meatballs: hand-pounded a thousand times, springy and tasty, best in clear soup to savor original flavor, about 32 CNY per person Ama jiao: 300-year intangible heritage snack, fried radish shredded batter, crispy outside and soft inside, about 5 CNY per person Dongjiang braised goose: slow-braised goose in sauce, tender skin and fragrant meat, signature dish at Dongjiang banquets, about 52 CNY per person Shankeng snail chicken: Nankunshan specialty, creek snails cooked with free-range chicken over firewood, about 48 CNY per person Radish cake: mugwort rice skin wrapped with cured meat and dried shrimp, steamed or pan-fried, traditional Hakka snack, about 8 CNY per person 5. Exclusive pitfalls to avoid (unique to this guide) 1. Valley and wetland activities ❌ Avoid entering Nankunshan canyon at noon; UV rays in the forest can still cause sunburn. Early morning is best for mountain visits ❌ Do not climb over railings into deep pools at Stone River wonder; underwater rocks are sharp. Stick to official trails only ❌ Always check tide tables before entering Yanzhou tidal flats; do not go into deep mud areas where you can get stuck 2. Suburban transport ❌ Avoid self-driving on rainy days on Nankunshan winding mountain roads; carpooling in an SUV is safer ❌ Bridges to Yanzhou Island are prone to heavy traffic during holidays, try to depart before 8 AM 3. Dining and spending ❌ Hakka restaurants near scenic spots tend to be overpriced; old town local eateries offer generous portions and transparent prices ❌ Ask seafood prices in advance at seaside stalls; self-selecting ingredients at Aotou market with cooking service offers better value ❌ Hakka cuisine is salty and savory; request lighter seasoning if preferred 4. Customs and travel details ❌ Always ask permission before photographing residents or old walled houses in Hakka villages; keep quiet inside ancestral halls ❌ Mosquitoes are abundant in forests and mangroves; apply strong mosquito repellent before going out ❌ Mountain weather changes quickly; bring a raincoat first. Strong valley winds can easily damage umbrellas 6. Overall summary Huizhou from July to September breaks the usual coastal resort image. It lacks the artistic island vibe of Xiamen or the lively ancient city feel of Chaoshan. Half the city is the thousand-year-old Dongjiang old town and Hakka walled villages, the other half is hidden primitive valleys and pristine sea wetlands. Mountains, lakes, rivers, and sea blend into one. Spend mornings in museums learning Dongjiang Hakka history, afternoons in deep mountain valleys escaping summer heat, evenings waiting for egrets to return in mangroves, and enjoy meals with unique Dongjiang Hakka flavors. Avoid peak crowds at popular beaches, respect local customs, and steer clear of souvenir sales to see the quiet, authentic side of this Lingnan ancient city.

bynaked Naked Heart Huizhou · Boluo A fairy-tale hotel hidden in Huizhou’s ten-thousand-acre tea mountains, once you arrive, you won’t want to leave🍃! The city’s hustle is exhausting, come here and instantly switch to “relax mode”✨. Industrial style mixed with tea field forest vibes, a niche and upscale feel maxed out~ 📍The address is No. 168, Yatian Group, Luotang Village, Baitang Town, Boluo County, Huizhou, just 570 meters beside the vast tea gardens. It’s a 2-hour drive from Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and a 40-minute taxi ride from Huizhou North High-Speed Rail Station, super convenient transportation🚗. The entire hotel is transformed from an old cement factory, with red brick walls paired with tea fields, a collision of rough industrial feel and gentle mountain wilderness, perfect for photos📸! I stayed in the Tea Field Cloud Residence King Room, a spacious 36㎡ that pleasantly surprised me🌿! The whole room features natural wood, rattan, and stone materials, with low-saturation tones that are gentle yet sophisticated. The panoramic floor-to-ceiling window opens directly to the sea of tea, with a faint tea fragrance drifting in the breeze🍵. The room details really hit the spot: Dyson hairdryer, smart toilet, tea-scented pillow all included, and the minibar offers free local tea bags. The terrace is huge; in the afternoon, brew a pot of tea and watch the clouds drift over the tea fields, the healing vibe is fully charged☀️. The bathroom has a dry and wet separation, double sinks, and an extra-large scenic bathtub, perfect for a relaxing and photogenic soak🛁. The dining here completely won my heart🍽️! Naked Bistro features Hakka flavors and Cantonese cuisine, with kiln-roasted chicken and authentic Hakka stuffed tofu full of flavor🦞. Good Wild Restaurant serves Western-style kiln dishes, with steaks tender and juicy, the taste is superb. The sixth-floor HEA Bar is perfect for tea during the day and drinks at night, with tea-brewed cocktails that look great and taste even better🥂. There’s also a stunning drawer-style afternoon tea, with exquisite pastries paired with tea garden views, making the experience highly ceremonial✨. Nearby attractions are super convenient to visit🚗! A 20-minute drive to the 5A Luofu Mountain, perfect for hiking and praying. Within an hour, you can reach Xiangang Reservoir (Huizhou’s Little Erhai Lake) and the 218 Most Beautiful Road, great for cycling and photography. No noise, only mountain breeze and tea field greenery, truly a slow-paced healing vacation. It’s the ultimate weekend getaway in the Greater Bay Area!

Who understands! Staying in Guangzhou for too long really feels stifling. When I saw Nankunshan National Forest Park on Trip.com, I immediately grabbed my friends and rushed there. The result was so beautiful that we didn’t want to leave! This is truly the "Oasis on the Tropic of Cancer"! Nankunshan Ecotourism Area really hides so many surprises. My favorite is the Shihe Wonder! It’s about 1 kilometer from the central area. Walking in feels like entering a mini Jiuzhaigou. The river is full of oddly shaped big stones, the creek water is so clear you can see little fish swimming around, and there are Fairy Pools and Seven Fairy Pools with water as blue as gemstones—perfect for taking stunning photos! ✅ Nankunshan National Forest Park: 98% forest coverage, bursting with negative oxygen ions, just one breath feels like your lungs are being cleansed ✅ Shihe Wonder: You must go creek tracing! Standing in the cool creek water in summer is incredibly refreshing, and there’s plenty of shade along the way so you won’t get sunburned ✅ Ecotourism Area: Besides Shihe, you can also visit Chuanlong Waterfall and Guanyin Pool. Almost no climbing is needed, so it’s suitable for both elderly and children It’s just a 2-hour drive from Guangzhou. Take the Yonghan exit on Guanghe Expressway, and it’s 15 minutes straight to the core area. The temperature difference in the mountains is big, so remember to bring a light jacket and wear non-slip shoes for creek tracing. Booking tickets in advance on Trip.com is cheaper, and during peak season, it’s recommended to reserve accommodation 3 days ahead! Spend a day here, and you won’t even want to use your phone. Listening to the sound of the creek and birdsong, you’ll feel completely relaxed. Workers, hurry up and go!

Qianlonggou Waterfall (Jincun, Liangkoutown, Conghua), is also the largest and widest waterfall in Guangzhou. Location: No. 19, Maoping Team, Jincun, Liangkoutown, Conghua District, Guangzhou City, at the northern foot of Nankun Mountain, in the tributary area of the source of Liuxi River. Just use navigation. Width and Drop: The main waterfall is 290 meters wide (some sources say 280 meters, but measurements during the rainy season are closer to 290 meters), with a drop of about 80 meters. It is the widest natural single-tier cascade waterfall in South China. Scenic Features: Composed of a group of 10-tier waterfalls; the scenic area extends about 3 kilometers deep, surrounded by ten thousand acres of bamboo forest, with a very high concentration of negative oxygen ions; cultural attractions include Qing Dynasty Hakka waterwheels and the ancient Maoping village. Best Viewing Period: From April to October when water flow is abundant, rainbows often appear on sunny days; great for summer cooling and autumn waterfall viewing. Travel Tips: 1. Navigate to the scenic area ticket office; parking fee is 10 RMB. 2. Tickets: Qianlonggou Waterfall tickets (as of March 2026, including one-way sightseeing bus) Adult ticket: 68 RMB on-site; 48–58 RMB if purchased online in advance Discounted tickets (30–35 RMB): Children 1.2–1.5 meters tall, seniors 60–69 years old, students, military personnel, disabled persons (with valid ID) Free admission: Children under 1.2 meters, seniors over 70 years old (with valid ID) Sightseeing bus: One-way included in ticket; round-trip tickets recommended to purchase on-site. Strongly suggest buying round-trip tickets to the final destination directly. (Because traveling with elderly, round-trip sightseeing bus is optimal) 3. Duration: Traveling with my mom, walking leisurely, about two hours round trip. Walking to the final waterfall is not very tiring. Then take the sightseeing bus back. 4. Food: There are snacks like tofu pudding, radish beef brisket, fried rice noodles, but they are just average. 5. Facilities: There is a slide from the waterfall area down to the mountain base. 6. Notes: After getting off the sightseeing bus, there is a downhill walk for a few minutes, then the path becomes relatively flat to the waterfall with no steep slopes. Easy to enjoy the visit.

March in Luoyang is actually a grand feast of "waiting." The peonies are still in bud, the crowds have yet to arrive, and only the warm sun and gentle breeze grace the ancient capital, quiet as if time has rewound a thousand years. This "incredibly beautiful" tranquility and off-peak advantage is something only the smart know how to enjoy. · -- Transportation: How to easily "travel back" to the ancient capital? 🚇 Subway travel: Luoyang is the first non-provincial capital city in central and western China to open a subway. Currently, Line 1 and Line 2 are operational, covering major attractions and transport hubs. Subway is the top choice—no traffic jams! · High-speed rail station (Luoyang Longmen Station): Take Line 2 directly to downtown Luoyang, Longmen Grottoes, and other spots. · Train station (Luoyang Station): Transfer to Line 2 subway easily, very convenient. · Airport (Luoyang Beijiao Airport): No direct subway yet; taxi or bus to subway station recommended for transfers. 🚌 Pitfall tips: · From Luoyang Longmen Station to Longmen Grottoes, it’s just a few stops on Line 2 subway. Don’t be fooled by unlicensed taxis outside. · Lao Jun Mountain is far away; it’s best to take the tourist shuttle bus from Longmen Passenger Transport Center or pre-book a pure-play day tour for convenience. · -- Attractions: Enjoy off-peak in March, the authentic way! Though the peonies aren’t in full bloom in March, the benefit is no queues, no crowds, and no random strangers in your photos. Day 1: Historical Shock Line · Longmen Grottoes (must-visit): Ticket 90 RMB. Enter from the northwest gate! To avoid crowds, either arrive early at 8 AM or try the night tour. When the lights shine on the Vairocana Buddha, the compassion and solemnity will give you goosebumps. · White Horse Temple (China’s oldest Buddhist temple): Ticket 35 RMB. Besides traditional Chinese architecture, be sure to visit the backyard with Thai, Burmese, and Indian style Buddhist halls—instantly transported to Southeast Asia. Day 2: Ancient City Time Travel Line · Luoyang Museum (must book): Free but must reserve 3 days in advance. National treasures like Tang Dynasty tri-colored glazed pottery horses and Northern Wei clay Buddha faces are not to be missed. · Luoyi Ancient City (night tour): Free reservation. Don’t go during the day! After lights turn on at 6:30 PM, it’s the real "dream of Sui and Tang." The city is full of Hanfu-clad ladies and gentlemen—you might feel like you’ve time-traveled. · Yingtian Gate / Mingtang Heaven: Recommended to enter after 4 PM, stay until night to watch the light show. 3D projections on the city walls create a stunning visual effect. Day 3: Fairyland Nature Line · Lao Jun Mountain (a breathtaking feast on earth): There may still be snow or ice on the summit in March, with a high chance of sea of clouds. Though cold, it’s extremely photogenic! Note the big temperature difference between mountain top and bottom; wear a windbreaker or down jacket. · -- Food: Soup Capital Luoyang, drink soup from morning till night Luoyang locals love soup, having different kinds three meals a day. Here are some intangible cultural heritage foods to try: · Breakfast: Beef soup / mutton soup + Youxuan (oil spiral bread) The freshest soup is early at 5 or 6 AM. Locals recommend "Longlin Road No.1" or "Li’s Beef Soup" in the old city alleys. Scalding hot soup with freshly baked hard wheat bread, torn and soaked in, makes you feel like a god. · Main meals: Luoyang Water Banquet A must-try in Luoyang. Recommended are Zhen Butong (a time-honored brand) or small local eateries in alleys. · Peony Yan Vegetable: Radish shreds carved into peony shapes, soup is fresh and delicious. · Continuous Soup Meat Slices: Sour, spicy, tender, very appetizing. · Crispy Fried Meatballs: Crispy balls poured hot into soup, sizzling—eat while hot. · Late-night snacks / street food: · Shizi Street Night Market: Full of lively atmosphere, big red lanterns hanging high, great for strolling and eating. Recommended: beef tripe hotpot, stir-fried cold noodles. · Xigong Small Street: More loved by locals. Must try the small street potstickers, golden and crispy with juicy filling, an intangible cultural heritage delicacy. · Jiangmian Noodles: Unique sour taste; lovers adore it, others may find it too sour. Try a small amount first. · -- Accommodation: Live in the scenery, sleep in the story Choosing the right area is half the success of your trip! 1. Old Town (around Luoyi Ancient City / Shizi Street): ✅ Perfect for foodies and Hanfu enthusiasts. Immersive ancient capital experience, with night markets and ancient city right outside, many unique guesthouses. ⚠️ Note: Prefer guesthouses renovated after 2020; old houses may have poor soundproofing. Avoid main streets and choose alleys for quieter stays. 2. Xigong District (around Jiefang Road / Wangcheng Park): ✅ Suitable for those with high transport needs or families. Two subway lines intersect here, convenient everywhere, many shopping areas, mature facilities. 3. Around Longmen Grottoes: ✅ Ideal for photography enthusiasts. Stay here to enjoy the quiet after night tours or be among the first to enter early morning for photos of the empty Buddha. 4. Around High-speed Rail Station (Longmen Station): ✅ Good for tight schedules, catching trains, or visiting Lao Jun Mountain. New hotels nearby, close to bus station, convenient for next day departures. --- Pitfall Tips (all practical!) 1. About blooming period: Most peonies haven’t bloomed in March (natural bloom is in April). For flowers, visit temperature-controlled greenhouses for early blooms, but the truly stunning "city full of peonies" is in April. March’s advantage is fewer people and lower prices. 2. Ticket reservations: Popular free venues like Luoyang Museum and Ancient Tomb Museum must be booked 3 days in advance via official accounts; no tickets on holidays if booked same day. 3. Hanfu rental tips: Many Hanfu rental shops at Luoyi Ancient City entrance; try to go inside the city to find old shops in alleys (like Hanyi Fang) for cleaner clothes, better makeup, and fairer prices. 4. Grotto route: The essence of Longmen Grottoes is in the West Hill. If tired after West Hill, you can skip Xiangshan Temple and Baiyuan on East Hill, but crossing the bridge to the opposite bank (East Bank) is the best spot for panoramic photos of the Vairocana Buddha. Don’t exit the scenic area directly! 5. Genuine souvenirs: Many "Tang Sancai" at scenic entrances are mass-produced. For authentic ones, visit the Luoyang Museum cultural shop or Tang Sancai Craft Museum. 6. Respect customs: White Horse Temple is a Buddhist holy site; dress appropriately—no short skirts or slippers inside halls. One last word: March in Luoyang lacks the bustle of April but gains the calmness befitting an ancient capital. You can stroll slowly by the Yique River, quietly watching the thousand-year-old smiling Vairocana Buddha. This serene beauty is something peak season visitors will never experience. March in Luoyang is truly beautiful, so I don’t recommend you go—because if you do, you might never want to leave.

This is a customized travel guide for the Songshan Scenic Area in Henan. Unlike a superficial visit, this guide aims to help you appreciate Songshan’s heritage as the “Center of Heaven and Earth,” its geological wonders, and the profound essence of Chan Buddhism and martial culture. In-Depth Songshan Travel Guide: Decoding the “Chan, Martial, and Geological” Trilogy of Zhongyue Songshan is not a solitary mountain but a collective name for Taishi Mountain and Shaoshi Mountain. Taishi Mountain is steep and ancient, known as the “Sacred Mountain” for imperial rituals; Shaoshi Mountain is elegant and secluded, the cradle of Chan Buddhism and martial arts. It is recommended to reserve at least two days to truly understand its vastness. 1. Scenic Highlights: More Than Just Shaolin 1. Shaoshi Mountain · Shuce Cliff: This is Songshan’s “geological skeleton.” The vertical rock layers formed 1.8 billion years ago during the “Zhongyue Movement” resemble ancient books neatly arranged on the cliff. Walking on the Sanhuangzhai skywalk, with a deep abyss below and billion-year-old “books” beside you, offers an unparalleled visual impact. 2. Shaolin Temple · Pagoda Forest: This is not an ordinary cemetery but an open-air Buddhist architectural museum. The 256 brick and stone pagodas from the Tang to Qing dynasties vary in shape and record the spiritual journeys of eminent monks. At dusk, the mottled light and shadows best convey the solemnity of an “ancient temple hidden deep in the mountains.” 3. Taishi Mountain · Junji Peak: As the main peak of Zhongyue, one of the Five Great Mountains, climbing Junji Peak is a ritual. A night climb under the stars, ascending the “Heavenly Ladder,” and greeting the first sunlight over the Central Plains above the sea of clouds at dawn, overlooking mountains and the Yellow River, truly embodies the grandeur of “soaring to the heavens.” 4. Songyang Academy · General’s Cypress: One of the four great academies of the Song dynasty, it was a high ground for ancient Chinese Confucianism. The “General’s Cypress” inside the academy has weathered over 4,500 years, witnessing countless scholars debating here. Touching its mottled bark, you can almost hear the echoes of the Ercheng brothers’ teachings. 2. Classic Combined Route: From Songshan to Longmen (3 Days 2 Nights) This route perfectly combines Zhongyue’s geological wonders with the pinnacle of human grotto sculpture, immersing you in the richness of Central Plains culture. · Day 1: Chan Buddhism and Geology (Shaoshi Mountain) · Morning: Arrive in Dengfeng and head straight to Shaolin Temple. First visit the Changzhu Courtyard to see the millennium-old ginkgo and stele forest; watch the 11:30 martial arts performance to experience authentic kung fu. · Afternoon: Have lunch at the temple’s “Happy Land” enjoying Shaolin vegetarian dishes. Then take the Shaolin cable car up the mountain, focusing on Sanhuangzhai and Shuce Cliff, walking along the skywalk to experience Songshan’s geological marvels. It’s recommended to hike round-trip or one-way from Sanhuangzhai; those with less stamina can use the cable car both ways. · Evening: Stay in Dengfeng city. For dinner, try the local specialty—sesame crispy flatbread stuffed with braised meat, paired with a steaming bowl of lamb noodle soup. · Day 2: Imperial Rituals and Seeking the Way (Taishi Mountain) · Morning: Head to Songyang Scenic Area and start the day’s “quest for the Way” at Songyang Academy, admiring the 4,500-year-old “General’s Cypress.” Then climb Taishi Mountain via Junji Palace and Zhongyue Palace, reaching the summit of Junji Peak (1,492 meters), a 3-4 hour hike. · Afternoon: Descend via the back mountain (towards Rulu Waterfall); those tired can return the same way. After descending, visit China’s oldest existing observatory—the Star Gazing Platform—to appreciate ancient wisdom in “gazing at the vast universe.” · Evening: Drive or charter a car to Luoyang (about 1.5 hours), check into Luoyang city, and enjoy a night tour of the ancient Luoyi city to soak in the Tang dynasty atmosphere. · Day 3: Stone Carvings and Yi River (Longmen, Luoyang) · Morning: Visit the Longmen Grottoes, a World Cultural Heritage site. It’s best to enter early to admire the mysterious smile of the Vairocana Buddha in the best light. Hire a guide to deeply understand the Northern Wei and Tang dynasty sculpture art. · Afternoon: Tour the opposite bank’s Xiangshan Temple and Baiyuan Park, or stroll along the Yi River to observe wetland ecology. End the trip with a flowing banquet in Luoyang. 3. Deep Experience: Be a Mountain Guest for a Day · Night Climb Taishi: Avoid daytime crowds by starting at 2 a.m. from Songyang Academy in summer, with headlamps forming a dragon-like line. Climb amid pine waves to witness the sunrise bursting over the peak. This is the romance and practice of mountaineers. · Taste Dengfeng: Explore city alleys to find a Gao Wei flatbread shop open at dawn, waiting for freshly baked crispy flatbreads; or try Dengfeng’s knife-cut noodles, stir-fried with spicy, salty, and fragrant flavors full of Central Plains street life. · Chan and Martial Arts Micro Experience: If time allows, sign up for a short-term meditation or martial arts class near Shaolin Temple. Under a monk’s guidance, practice a set of “Baduanjin” qigong, breathing with the mountain breeze to experience the true meaning of “Chan and martial arts as one.” Practical Tips: Hiking Sanhuangzhai takes about 5-6 hours; combining with the cable car is recommended. Songshan has large temperature differences between day and night, so bring a windbreaker. Some mountain areas have weak cell signals; download offline maps in advance.

While heavy snow falls in the north and the Pearl River Delta is still tangled in damp and chilly weather, the Nankunshan Yunding Hot Springs, just a 1.5-hour drive from Guangzhou and Shenzhen, offers a perfect warm winter getaway. Located within a national forest park, the hot springs here are truly natural "beauty baths" bubbling up from underground. Soaking in the hot springs amid the forest oxygen bar is a winter ritual for families in the Pearl River Delta. 🌳 Core strengths of Yunding Hot Springs · Genuine spring and mountain water: The spring water originates deep in the Nankunshan mountain range and is a rare hot spring rich in silicic acid and fluoride. The pools are built along the mountain terrain, surrounded by primeval forest, with an abundance of negative ions, making every breath fresh and sweet. · "Hot spring town" scale: With over a hundred hot spring pools of various styles, it’s like a large hot spring amusement park. Besides regular pools, there is a family water park (hot spring), wave pool, infinity pool, and more, ensuring kids have a blast. · Mature facilities: As a large resort area, it offers comprehensive dining, accommodation, and entertainment facilities, so you don’t need to leave the mountain—one-stop to meet the whole family’s needs. 🚗 A weekend getaway you can take anytime · Friday night departure: After work, drive from Guangzhou/Shenzhen, about 1.5-2 hours to arrive and check into the hot spring hotel. You can soak in a night bath to wash away the week’s fatigue. · Full day Saturday enjoyment: Sleep in naturally, enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then return to the hot spring area to slowly explore different pools. Let the kids play freely in the family water park. In the afternoon, stroll or bike around the resort, or experience a spa. · Leisurely Sunday morning return: Sleep in or soak in a morning bath again, then enjoy lunch before driving home fully satisfied and recharged for the new week. 👶 Thoughtful details for soaking with kids · Children’s pool options: Focus on the family water park area where the water temperature is suitable for children and there are slides and other play facilities, a source of joy for kids. · Warmth strategy: Mountain areas have large temperature differences between morning and night. Even in the hot spring area, wrap up quickly with a towel after getting out of the pool. It’s recommended to bring thick children’s bathrobes or cloaks. · Rest and replenishment: Multiple rest stations in the hot spring area provide free tea and towels. Regularly take kids to rest and replenish water and energy (small snacks can be brought). · Fun exploration: Take the hot spring map with your kids and make a “pool adventure plan” to find the most hidden pools and the pools with the best scenery, increasing interactive fun. 🍽️ Taste delights amid the mountains and wilderness · Must-try Hakka flavors: Nankunshan belongs to Huizhou, where Hakka cuisine is the essence. Hakka stuffed tofu, salt-baked chicken, red-braised pork, and mountain water stuffed tofu are must-order dishes, savory and perfect with rice. · Wild mountain vegetables: Nankunshan’s bamboo shoots, wild vegetables, and bearded chicken are famous for their freshness and deliciousness. · Dining options: You can dine at the hotel or drive to Nankunshan town to find authentic farmhouse restaurants for a unique flavor experience. 🏡 Accommodation choices in the forest hot springs Nankunshan Yunding Hot Springs Resort (Hot Spring Hotel): The most direct choice, just downstairs to the hot spring center, with some room types featuring private pools for ultimate convenience. Nankunshan Shizishui Ecological Resort: One of China’s top ecological resorts, internationally award-winning design, all buildings harmonize with nature, featuring cliff hot springs and infinity pools, the perfect choice for families seeking ultimate wild luxury and design. Nankunshan Musha Pin Holiday Villas: Suitable for groups of families or large families, standalone villas with good privacy, equipped with kitchens and courtyards for self-catering, enjoying a home-style vacation. At Nankunshan Yunding Hot Springs, winter is no longer a cold to endure but a warmth to embrace. In the embrace of the forest, let the hot springs soothe every inch of skin and let children laugh in nature—this is the most accessible winter happiness for families in the Pearl River Delta.

To regard Nankunshan Yunding Hot Springs merely as a place to soak is to greatly underestimate it. Nankunshan itself is an oasis on the Tropic of Cancer, boasting a complete ecosystem and rich flora and fauna. This guide aims to combine hot springs with nature exploration and local culture, creating a deeply nourishing family vacation for body, mind, and spirit. 🔍 Nature exploration beyond soaking · Forest hiking and plant identification: There are excellent hiking trails around the resort. Take the kids on a light hike and use a mobile app (such as “Xingse”) to identify plants along the way: tree ferns, impatiens, various ferns. Explain the forest’s ecological layers. · Night insect watching mini-adventure (better in summer, stargazing in winter): Led by a guide, use flashlights to find nocturnal insects and observe tree frogs, making for a lively natural night class. · Visit a bamboo crafts workshop: Nankunshan is rich in bamboo resources. Take the kids to see local bamboo weaving crafts, learn about the process from raw material to artwork, and even try making something hands-on. 🧘 Mind and body healing workshops for the whole family · Morning mountain forest yoga/meditation: On the open platform in the hot spring area or the room balcony, follow videos or apps to do simple family yoga or seated meditation, absorbing the fresh mountain air to start a clear-headed day. · Hot spring acupoint knowledge mini-class: While soaking, teach kids a few health acupoints, such as pressing the “Yongquan” point during foot baths, adding interaction and knowledge. · Plant printing or specimen making: Collect beautiful fallen leaves and petals during hikes, then press them into specimens with books or create plant prints with a hammer back in the room, making natural artworks. 🗓️ Sample two-day, one-night deep healing itinerary · Day 1: Arrival and immersion 14. 00: Arrive and check in. 15. 00-17:30: First visit to the hot spring area, get familiar with the environment, focus on playing in the children’s water zone. 18:30: Enjoy authentic Hakka dinner. 20:00-21:30: Night soak in the hot springs, feel the tranquility under the starry sky (constellation viewing in winter). • Day 2: Exploration and farewell 8. 30: Hotel breakfast. 9. 30-11:30: Light forest hike + nature observation. 12:00: Lunch, savoring wild mountain flavors. 14:00-16:00: Choose based on interest: second soak (try different themed pools), experience a SPA, or do handicrafts. 16:30: Pack up and warmly head home. 🛒 Local specialty shopping guide · Nankunshan specialties: mineral water (excellent quality), honey, dried bamboo shoots, lingzhi mushrooms, various herbs. Available at specialty stores in town. · Hakka souvenirs: Hakka rice wine, dried preserved vegetables, also great gifts. 🏘️ Featured accommodation options Nankunshan Wyndham Hot Springs Hotel: International brand management ensures reliable facilities and service standards, a safe choice for trusted family brands. Nankunshan Cuilan Valley Resort Hotel: Orchid-themed, elegant environment, spacious rooms, suitable for families who enjoy a quiet atmosphere. Nankunshan Huaxi Raincloud Villas: Uniquely designed villa clusters, each with a private garden and soaking pool, ideal for families or groups seeking absolute privacy and spaciousness. At Nankunshan, hot springs are just the introduction; nature is the main theme. When we slow down, open our senses, touch the texture of a tree, recognize a bird’s call, and taste the sweetness of mountain spring water, vacation truly returns to its original purpose—to reconnect the whole family deeply and warmly with nature and with each other.

. Who says Guangdong has no winter? I discovered a magical “parallel world” near Guangzhou! On one side, there’s a romantic snowy hot spring; on the other, a temperature-controlled water park, plus you can row boats to explore the “forest secret realm”! This is the Guangzhou Forest Sea Hot Spring Resort Hotel, a one-stop destination that fulfills all your fantasies, a paradise for families with children! 🏰 Stay in a Venetian-style castle: The hotel architecture is inspired by Italian Venice, with colorful houses reflected on the lake, as if you’ve traveled abroad. We stayed in the “Water Play Theme Room,” which features a large hot spring soaking pool and a slide inside the room—kids went wild as soon as they entered! The balcony faces the central lake view, offering a wide-open sight. ❄️ Winter-exclusive surprises: Ice and Snow World & Hot Springs Frozen adventure: The indoor ice and snow park is at minus 10°C! It has ice sculpture slides and a snow plaza. Although not very large, it’s exciting enough for kids in Guangdong who rarely see snow! The hotel provides down jackets; just bring your own gloves and hats. Authentic hot spring experience: The hotel boasts rare hot springs from Nankun Mountain. Outdoors, there are dozens of hot spring pools with different functions scattered throughout the gardens. Soaking in the hot springs under the starry sky in the cool weather is incredibly relaxing. There’s also a dedicated children’s hot spring pool with a suitable temperature. 🌊 Year-round temperature-controlled water fun: The “Indoor-Outdoor Connected Temperature-Controlled Water Park” is the highlight! The huge dome keeps the indoor area like summer all year round. Thrilling big funnel slides, lazy rivers, children’s water castles... water play is completely unaffected by the weather. We spent most of our time here; the water temperature is comfortable, so no worries about kids catching a chill. 🚣 Outdoor ecological fun: The hotel is located within the Baishuizhai Scenic Area and has a huge lake. You can kayak or take an electric boat to cruise the lake and enjoy mountain views. There are also off-road vehicles, jungle adventures, and other outdoor activities to fully release the kids’ energy. 🍽️ Foodie hotspot: The hotel has multiple restaurants. We mainly dined at the “Tianhu Restaurant” buffet, which offers a wide variety including seafood, Japanese cuisine, and Cantonese roasted meats. You can also visit the Food Street to taste Lingnan snacks at more affordable prices. 🦚 Rustic lodging recommendation: If you want a more original ecological experience, check out the nearby “Conghua Jingmu Mountain Lodge.” It’s a boutique homestay converted from an old school, hidden in the mountains, focusing on handmade woodworking experiences. The atmosphere is quiet and rustic, perfect for families who enjoy DIY and tranquility. 📌 Super practical tips: Book the “All-in-One” package on Trip.com, which includes accommodation, water park, hot springs, and ice and snow world—most convenient and cost-effective. Plan 2-3 days: one day for water and snow fun, another day for hot springs and outdoor activities, with a relaxed schedule. Bring several sets of clothes and swimsuits for frequent changes between the water park, hot springs, and ice and snow world. At Guangzhou Forest Sea Hot Spring Resort Hotel, we experienced the passion of summer, the romance of winter, and the comfort of spring and autumn all in one day. This wonderful mix made our family memories this winter especially amazing!
