—Tourist attraction in Amanohashidate—
Even though Amanohashidate is a small city at the corner of Kyoto Prefecture, it has also its interesting part including tourist attraction. I went to another one which also is a must-visit in the town called Kasamatsu Chairlift and Monorail.
It is easy on how to get there by only take bus and stop at the shelter nearby you could see on google maps.
If you wish to go around the city in full one-day trip, I suggest you to buy Amanohashidate tourist 2 days pass online.
A lot of benefits you will get such as free one time entry in certain tourist attractions and free bus ride for 2 days!— Isn't it amazing?!
After you ride the cable car, you will see the whole city at the very top spot of the destination. It has one spot which offer you to pose like head-down to see its beautiful scenery. You could see on my picture on how to pose there 😆

I took a stroll around Amanohashidate!
I visited Amanohashidate, one of Japan's three scenic views located in the northern plains of Kyoto, Miyazu City. The first two photos are taken from Kasamatsu Park in Amanohashidate. The photos from the third one onward were taken while I was actually walking around Amanohashidate. You can enjoy a walk while seeing many pine trees on both sides. Some of the pines had trunks that were bent or tilted, possibly because their roots hadn't developed sufficiently.
There are also shops lined up at both ends of Amanohashidate, so it's nice to take your time, relax, and buy some souvenirs.
Amanohashidate: One of Japan's Three Scenic Views
If it's your first time visiting Kyoto and you haven't been to Amanohashidate, I highly recommend making the trip. Although it's a bit remote, there are various convenient ways to get there. From Osaka or Kyoto, you can take the JR train. You can also take the Tango Sea and Land Bus from Umeda or Shin-Osaka in Osaka, or from Kyoto Station in Kyoto.
Recommended Transportation
The Amanohashidate Sightseeing Boat operates between Amanohashidate and Ichinomiya. The ferry runs between the Amanohashidate Pier near Amanohashidate Station and the Ichinomiya Pier on the opposite shore from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with departures approximately every 30 minutes. While the bus ride takes about 25 minutes, the sightseeing boat only takes 12 minutes, offering a quicker and more scenic route. You can enjoy the stunning views of Amanohashidate from the sea and even feed seagulls from the boat.
Once you arrive at Amanohashidate, you can take the View Land chairlift or monorail. It's recommended to take the monorail on the way up and the chairlift on the way down. The exhilarating feeling of riding the chairlift with the wind in your face is an experience you can't get from the mountain cable car! If you want to enjoy the seasonal beauty of cherry blossoms, hydrangeas, or autumn leaves up close, the chairlift is the way to go. Each direction offers a unique experience.
#myhiddengems clear blue sky so mesmerising in Miyazu. A place worth visiting to enjoy the cooling weather. Feeding the seagull up on the ferry, taking the ropeway up to chance upon the coastal view in Amanohashidate. Many Japanese believed it's best viewed upside down. if chance allow, do stay in the guesthouse by the fishing village. You be mesmerised by the view.
🌸 Kyoto's Hidden Gem: Taikyourou Hotel Review 🏯
🍵 Step into tranquility at Taikyourou, where traditional Japanese hospitality meets serene river views. Nestled in Miyazu City, this hotel is a cultural tapestry, offering guests an immersive experience.
🌉 Bask in the elegance of tatami rooms adorned with classic decor, and wake up to picturesque bridge and river scenes that shine under the sun. The attention to detail extends to the dining experience, with heartwarming meals that may not boast luxury ingredients but are crafted with dedication.
🛀 Unwind in the authentic onsen, a highlight that promises a unique, skin-soothing soak different from any other in Japan. While the kaiseki cuisine might not feature premium cuts, the flavors and setting compensate, creating a memorable feast for the senses.
🎁 From the moment of arrival, expect to be greeted with warmth, from welcome drinks to delectable treats. Though the rooms may be cozy, the service and overall experience are expansive, ensuring a stay that's as comforting as it is culturally rich.

Kasamatsu Park is a place where you can see Amanohashidate beautifully. It truly offers a spectacular view. There is also a platform for 'Matanozoki' where you can look at the scenery upside down, and it's beautiful as well.

A great temple to visit miyazu
Visited while the monthly market was set up, very nice. Lots of local vendors selling anything from clothing to food.
A great surprice, without people and amaizing. Perfect place to admire traditional architecture of Japan
The Handicraft Market open on the 15th of every month is cute and fun to see. Not cheap stuff since most times are handmade but if you want unique pottery/clothes/jewelry/leather goods or knick-knacks

Wonderful and great view kyoto
February was grey and chilly but there were very few tourists. You can walk the 2.5 km each way and take the gondolas on both sides for spectacular views.
Went on March 2024 and the cold and clear weather was perfect for viewing very far distance.
Not many tourists and the ride up/down were easy without Q and the area was not crowded for appreciating the uniquety to fully enjoy the nature.
It would be easy to spend at least half a day here exploring. Best experienced in good weather, and even more beautiful in cherry blossom season!

You MUST VISIT Amanohashidate in Kyoto!
You may have heard of Kyoto before, but have you heard of Amanohashidate?
Just 2 hours JR ride away from Kyoto, Amanohashidate is actually ranked among Japan's three most scenic views. It is a pine covered sandbar that spans the mouth of Miyazu Bay in the scenic, coastal region of northern Kyoto Prefecture, and the Amanohashidate Sandbar (which roughly translates to "bridge in heaven") looks like a pathway between heaven and earth when viewed upside down.
The sea view is superb and it’s a very scenic and peaceful area. Most people I see there were local tourists rather than foreigners - that’s how you know this place is really an underrated gem!
I would love to visit the Dragon’s Back in Hong Kong, which is one of the most popular trails that also boasts an impressive coastal view!

Amanohashidate 2 day 1 night
Amanohashidate is a very cozy little town that you can enjoy a day chilling and relaxing. You can go up to the Amanohashidate view land for a good 1-2 hours to enjoy the view and chairlift up and down. There is also a small cable car which cost only 500 yen for two people. A nice restaurant is up there if you want to have a taste of the local authentic clam udon. Highly recommended!
Amanohashidate (天橋立)
Spectacular scenery and totally worth the day trip there. Try the chairlift instead of the monorail.
Next time, we’ll plan a night stay to enjoy the peaceful environment and onsen. There are other attractions within walking distance at the foot of the mountain. Totally no crowd….This is an underrated place to visit in Japan! It is better if you drive as the journey by train from Kyoto is 2hrs.
Mesmerising North Kyoto
Kyoto is not just about its temples and old capital charm, the nature landscape in its backyard is breathtaking. Amanohashidate is one of the must visit places, where you can catch picturesque views backed by the Sea of Japan and the 3.8km pine trees filled sandbar that resonates ‘the stairway to heaven’.
One can head up to the viewpoint by traditional monorail or chairlifts, if you are feeling a bit adventurous.
#amanohashidate (天橋立) is one of Japan's three scenic views. The sandbar is located in Miyazu Bay in northern #kyoto #japan

Yu Ise Cage Shrine next to Umatsu Park, about 2,500 years old, is said to be the origin of Ise Jingu Shrine, so it is called Yuan Ise. The shrine is decorated with colorful traditional ornaments that look like a pear-shaped gemstone along the railing of the main entrance of the shrine. In Japan, only two shrines have been allowed to use these Shinto decorative patterns, that is, Ise Jingu Shrine and Yuan Yi Shi Cang Shrine.
After entering the door, you can see a huge unique thatch that can clean the suffocation of the first half of the year for the worshippers, give the worshippers a blessing to overcome the summer epidemic, and pray for no disease in the second half.
The Japanese hotel that I stayed in at night perfectly made me spend a comfortable night. The hot springs are indoors. When I go to the bath, I have to take a bath and then enter, and look at the scenery outside the window. There is also a lot of good places for taking pictures in the hotel, it is very muji style.
Hotel Name: MARINETOPIA RESORT
Hotel Address: Higashi, Shizuzu, Kyoto 4230
Catch up with the last bus to get to Amanohashidate. It is actually a new tram line that started in 2015. I am amazing to the tea table. The absolute chic terminal is the most amazing thing before Miyazu. I am facing the sea on the Izu Peninsula. The tram fatigue is instantly eliminated. I am a Japanese tram.
