Modena travel guide and discussion

Red sports cars, the prancing horse, and Formula 1 triumphs—Ferrari has long been the ultimate symbol of Italian engineering excellence. You can explore the brand's storied past in Emilia-Romagna, the birthplace of its founder, Enzo Ferrari. 🏎️ A Bit of History Enzo Ferrari was born in Modena in 1898. Starting his career as a racing driver, he eventually moved into race organization and founded the Scuderia Ferrari team in 1929. The first cars bearing the Ferrari name debuted in 1947. Over time, the name—once synonymous solely with motorsport—evolved into a global icon of speed, bespoke design, and cutting-edge innovation. 🏛️ Museo Enzo Ferrari — Modena The museum is located next to the house where Enzo was born and his father’s historic workshop. The building itself is a sight to behold: its striking modern pavilion, featuring a bright yellow roof shaped like a sports car hood, stands in bold contrast to the surrounding heritage architecture. Inside, you’ll find cars from various eras, archival materials, and a multimedia journey through Enzo’s life. Since exhibits rotate, the experience varies based on the current showcase. I visited during "The Greatest Hits — Music Legends and Their Ferraris," which highlighted famous musicians and their prized rides. Seeing Ferraris owned by the likes of Eric Clapton and Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason offered a unique perspective on the brand, showing how these machines become part of their owners' personal narratives beyond just racing lore. 🏁 Museo Ferrari — Maranello The second museum is located in Maranello, home to Ferrari’s legendary headquarters. The focus here is on the machines themselves, the racing heritage, and Formula 1. You can admire iconic road models and grand prix cars, trace the evolution of design and tech, and relive the team’s greatest victories. 📍 Planning Your Trip The Museo Enzo Ferrari in Modena is an easy addition to a walk through the historic center, as it’s close to the train station. Choose the Museo Ferrari in Maranello if you want to deep-dive into the technical world of cars and motorsport. It’s possible to visit both in one day, but be sure to check the transport links between Modena and Maranello in advance and allow plenty of time for each. Before you go, check the official Ferrari website for schedules and tickets; the temporary exhibitions are updated frequently and truly define the visit experience. ❤️ Ferrari is more than just cars and racing. It’s the legacy of a man who turned a passion for speed into a world-renowned brand, and a tribute to a region where automotive culture is woven into the very fabric of local identity.

Modena is a city where medieval architecture meets legendary sports cars, and culinary traditions are passed down through generations. It is the birthplace of Enzo Ferrari, the home of world-famous balsamic vinegar, and its historic center preserves exceptional Romanesque masterpieces. 📜 A Bit of History In antiquity, Modena was the Roman colony of Mutina, located on the Via Emilia — a vital road connecting the region's cities. During the Middle Ages, the city flourished under the rule of bishops and later came under the influence of the House of Este, who also ruled Ferrara. It was the medieval era that left Modena its greatest architectural treasures. Later, the city became famous for its traditional production of balsamic vinegar and emerged as a hub for the Italian automotive industry. 🏛️ What to See 1. Piazza Grande and Duomo di Modena Start your visit at the main square and the cathedral, whose construction began in 1099. It is one of Italy's most outstanding examples of Romanesque architecture. Pay close attention to the sculptures by Master Wiligelmo and the expressive facade designed by the architect Lanfranco. Nearby stands the Torre Ghirlandina, a bell tower nearly 87 meters tall that has become the symbol of the city. Together, the cathedral, the tower, and the square are designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. 2. Palazzo Ducale This majestic palace is a reminder of when Modena was the capital of the Duchy of Este. Today, it houses a military academy, so indoor access is limited, but the facade is a must-see during a walk through the center. 3. Mercato Albinelli A historic covered market opened in 1931. Here, you can find local cheeses, cured meats, vegetables, and other regional products. Stop by for the atmosphere and a glimpse into the city's daily life. 🏎️ 4. Modena and Ferrari Modena is inextricably linked to the name of Enzo Ferrari — the founder of the legendary automotive brand, who was born here in 1898. At the Museo Enzo Ferrari, you can explore his biography and the brand's history in a stunning modern space. If you want to continue your automotive journey, the nearby town of Maranello features another Ferrari Museum dedicated to road cars and racing heritage. This is just the beginning of your Motor Valley discovery — a separate post on Ferrari and the region's automotive museums will cover this topic in more detail. 🍇 5. Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena Modena is the birthplace of traditional balsamic vinegar, which is nothing like the basic dressing found in supermarkets. Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena DOP is produced from concentrated grape must and aged in a series of wooden barrels. The minimum aging period is 12 years, while the "Extravecchio" category is aged for at least 25 years. The result is a thick product with a complex flavor profile that balances sweetness and acidity. It is served just a few drops at a time — for instance, paired with aged Parmigiano Reggiano. To learn more about the production process, you can visit a local acetaia — a traditional vinegar estate. It’s best to book tours and tastings in advance. 🍝 What to Try Tortellini in brodo — tiny stuffed pasta served in a meat broth. Gnocco fritto — airy fried dough served with prosciutto and cheeses. Tigelle — small flatbreads filled with meat and cheese. Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena DOP — the city's gastronomic pride. Lambrusco — the local sparkling red wine that traditionally accompanies the region's dishes. 🗺️ How to Plan Your Trip Modena is easily accessible by train from Bologna. Half a day is enough to explore the historic center, but if you add a visit to the Ferrari Museum and a balsamic vinegar tasting tour, it’s better to dedicate a full day. Modena is a city where, in a single trip, you can discover medieval architecture, centuries-old culinary traditions, and the history of one of the world's most famous automotive brands. ❤️

Bologna is a great base for exploring the region: from here, you can easily take train trips to cities steeped in history, while also discovering small medieval villages, colorful mosaics, and lagoons. Here are eight ideas for day trips—without changing your hotel. 🏛️ 1. Modena—the city of Ferrari and balsamic vinegar Modena is just a 20-30-minute train ride away. Its historic center, with its Romanesque cathedral, Piazza Grande, and Ghirlandina Tower, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is famous for its traditional balsamic vinegar, Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena, and the Ferrari museums. It's the perfect combination of history, cars, and gastronomy. 🧱 2. Ferrara—a Renaissance city Ferrara is the former capital of the powerful d'Este family. Here, you should see the Castello Estense with its moat surrounded by water, the cathedral, and the wide streets of the historic center. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is perfect for a leisurely day stroll. ✨ 3. Ravenna – Byzantine Mosaics If you're looking for something truly unique, head to Ravenna. Its churches and mausoleums preserve Byzantine mosaics from the 5th and 6th centuries—with gold backgrounds, intricate ornamentation, and stunningly expressive figures. Particularly impressive are the Basilica di San Vitale and the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia. Several of the city's monuments are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. 🍝 4. Parma – Music, Art, and Gastronomy Parma combines elegant architecture, artistic heritage, and renowned food. In the center are the cathedral with a fresco by Correggio, the pink marble baptistery, and the Teatro Farnese. It's also the birthplace of Prosciutto di Parma and one of the main centers of Parmigiano-Reggiano production. 🏘️ 5. Dozza — an open-air medieval village A small village near Imola, where the walls of houses have been transformed into artistic canvases. Murals adorn the facades, and the streets are dominated by Rocca Sforzesca, a fortress housing the region's wine cellar. Dozza is especially perfect for a leisurely stroll and photos. 🌿 6. Brisighella — streets, hills, and an unusual tower One of the most picturesque borgos in the region. Here you can see Via degli Asini, a covered medieval street with arches, the ancient Rocca Manfrediana fortress, and a clock tower on a hill. The village is surrounded by green hills, and the local olive oil is another reason to linger. 🦩 7. Comacchio — Canals and Lagoons A small town on the water, sometimes called the little Venice of Emilia-Romagna. Its symbol is the Trepponti, a unique bridge with several flights of steps. Comacchio is surrounded by lagoons and salt marshes, where you can watch birds, including flamingos. A good choice for those seeking nature and a completely different atmosphere. 🏰 8. Castell'Arquato — Medieval Italy without the decorations Stone streets, towers, a fortress, and a square with historic buildings—it's easy to imagine life in a medieval town here. The main landmarks are the Collegiata di Santa Maria and Rocca Viscontea. Castell'Arquato is further from Bologna, so it's worth planning your trip in advance, as public transportation may require transfers. Most towns are conveniently visited by train, but for smaller borgos, you should check the buses and return schedules separately. This is especially true for Dozza, Brisighella, and Castell'Arquato. Emilia-Romagna is much more diverse than it seems at first glance: in a single trip, you can see Byzantine art, Renaissance palaces, medieval fortresses, and lagoons with flamingos. And all this within a single region. ❤️

#mediterraneanfood When people ask me where to go for the best pasta in #italy , I don’t even hesitate. Emilia-Romagna is the answer. This northern Italian region isn’t just the birthplace of some of the world’s most iconic dishes, it is the soul of Italian cuisine itself. Think Parmigiano Reggiano, handmade tortellini, silky tagliatelle al ragù, and delicate sheets of pasta so thin you can almost see through them. During my last trip to Italy, I decided to dedicate a few days entirely to exploring Emilia-Romagna’s culinary treasures. Instead of renting a car this time, I booked my trains with #tripcom , which made hopping from one city to the next incredibly easy. This region is often called the “food valley” of Italy for a reason. Bologna, Modena, and Parma form a triangle where pasta and cheese are practically a religion. In Parma, I toured dairies where wheels of Parmigiano Reggiano are aged for years until they reach nutty, crystalline perfection. Watching cheesemakers crack open a wheel felt like witnessing a sacred ritual. That same cheese, shaved over fresh tagliolini with butter, was a revelation. In Modena, balsamic vinegar aged for decades in wooden barrels added a surprising depth to simple pasta dishes. Even a drizzle on creamy risotto tasted divine. And in Bologna, the city that invented tagliatelle al ragù (never call it “spaghetti bolognese” here!). Booking my train tickets with Trip.com was a game changer. Instead of navigating multiple Italian websites or queuing at stations, I secured all my tickets in advance on my phone. From Bologna to Parma to Modena, everything was seamless. And because Trip.com also shows hotel options, I managed to book cozy stays right near the train stations to make my foodie adventure even smoother.

💞Reasons to Recommend: If you’re looking for a cozy Italian town beyond Bologna, Modena is a perfect choice. Just a 25-minute train ride away, this city offers a mix of history, culture, and gastronomy. I visited Modena for a day in early February and was captivated by its stunning Modena Cathedral. Car enthusiasts will appreciate Modena’s connection to Ferrari. Don’t forget to visit the Enzo Ferrari Museum— a must see for any car lovers! Modena is definitely a city that will surprise you! #historicallandmarks #italy #modena #emiliaromagna #localguides #travelinspiration #travelphotography

#外游 This time I came to Modena, Italy ~ Luciano Pavarotti, one of the world's three most famous tenors, was born and lived in Modena. I visited his former residence in the suburbs of Modena, which is now preserved in the same way as when he lived there and is open to the public as a museum. Visitors can visit the hall, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom of his former home, where some of Pavarotti's performance costumes, awards, photos, posters, letters, etc. are displayed. Learn more about his past life. 📍Casa Museo Luciano Pavarotti Address: Stradello Nava 6, 41126 Modena #ItalianTravel #EuropeanTravel #Overseas

#Overseas Travel If you are a cheese fan, you may want to visit a cheese factory when you visit Italy to learn how the "world-class" Italian cheese Parmigiano Reggiano is made. This time I visited the cheese factory Caseificio Sociale Pelloni in Modena. The person in charge explained the manufacturing process very carefully. At the end of the guided tour, there is a food tasting session and a shop selling various types of cheese, dairy products and special local ingredients. The unique, crunchy and rich texture of Parmigiano Reggiano has really charmed many cheese lovers. Appreciate 🇮🇹 Italians' persistence in making high-quality ingredients, which makes us all very happy! #ItalianTravel #EuropeanTravel #OverseasTravel

This garden is located in the old town of Modena, in Northen Italy 📍 It was the garden of the Ducal Palace that today is the military academy. The garden has a history of more than 500 years 😮 It has three gates from where you can access and visit for free. There are opening and closing time depending on the season. It hosts a pond, a botanical garden and a cafe. In the park there is also a beautiful building called Palazzina Vigarani 😍 At this time of the year it becomes a graceful environment for weekend picnics and walks ⛲️ It's great also for children because there is a playground. We enjoyed seeing the tulips blooming but unfortunately the botanical garden was closed 🙄

#2022展 #国外游 It's like being in a Ferrari showroom here, seeing all the cars makes your eyes light up! ! The venue is a special exhibition that displays the car fans’ favorite Ferrari! #underratedspots When people think of this part of Italy, they usually imagine the crowds of tourists squeezing through the busy streets and arcades of Bologna. Honestly? I decided to hop on the local Italian trains and explore a bit further instead. And I discovered something most guides completely overlook: three neighboring cities that offer more history, authenticity, and (most importantly!) better food than the most famous Italian tourist magnets. Here is why you shouldn't miss Modena, Reggio Emilia, and Parma: 🏎️ Modena: This city lives on history and immense speed. You can admire the incredible historic interiors of the local cathedral or stroll across the beautiful square with the majestic Ghirlandina tower. Just a short walk away, you'll stumble upon the stunning Palazzo Ducale. And if you're a car lover, Enzo Ferrari's original workshop with the legendary sign, which is now a museum, is an absolute must-visit. 🟢⚪🔴 Reggio Emilia: Did you know the Italian national flag was born right here? You can even check out the historic original of the famous tricolor in the local museum. Compared to the overcrowded streets of Bologna, a true, laid-back Italian life pulses here—sun-drenched squares full of local markets and people relaxing by historic churches and clock towers. 🧀 Parma: Forget about the perfect Parmigiano Reggiano cheese for a second; the city itself is an architectural masterpiece! The main square with its unique pink baptistery and cathedral will literally take your breath away. You can also discover the very first shop of the famous Barilla brand, where the whole pasta empire began, or simply stroll by the river with a majestic view of the Palazzo della Pilotta. So why squeeze through expensive and overcrowded hubs when you can explore the true cradle of Italian gastronomy and motorsport in absolute peace? Do you prefer these quieter, overlooked spots when traveling, or are you more drawn to the famous landmarks to play it safe? 👇💬 Let me know in the comments! #underratedspots #emiliaromagna #modena #parma #reggioemilia #slowtravel #italy

Why Bologna, and why NOW? Bologna just became Italy's most underrated city break. In 2026, the city welcomed over 2.5 million visitors — a record — yet it still feels like a secret compared to Florence or Venice. The city's 62 kilometres of porticoes were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, making Bologna home to the longest portico in the world — a 3.5-kilometre covered walkway climbing to the Sanctuary of San Luca. And here's the kicker: it's known as "La Grassa" (the Fat One) for a reason. This is Italy's food capital, and a full meal still costs under €15. But here's what the algorithm won't tell you: most visitors see the Due Torri, eat a plate of tagliatelle, and leave. They miss the hidden canals of Via Piella, the 7 churches stacked into one, and the €1.50 espresso where Bologna actually breathes. This guide is built for the traveler who wants real value. Save it. You'll use it. 🚌 TRANSPORT: The €1.50 Bus That Beats Every Taxi The mistake starts at Marconi Airport. Taxis quote €25–30 to the city centre. The Marconi Express monorail costs €12.80 and reaches Bologna Centrale in 7 minutes. For getting around the city, TPER buses cost €1.50 per ride — buy tickets at any tabaccheria before boarding. A day pass costs €6, and a 24-hour ticket is €5. The walkable city rule. Bologna is flat, compact, and walkable. The historic centre is just 1.5 km across. The Portico di San Luca — a 3.5-kilometre covered walkway with 666 arches — is the longest in the world and free to walk. Take the San Luca Express train from Piazza Maggiore if you don't want to hike. It costs €10–15. The one thing to know: Bologna is a university city — the oldest in the Western world, founded in 1088. That means cheap food, cheap drinks, and a young, buzzing energy that most Italian cities lack. 🍲 FOOD: The €12 Tagliatelle That Beats Every Restaurant Bolognese food is not what you think. Spaghetti bolognese does not exist here. The real dish is tagliatelle al ragù — fresh egg pasta with slow-cooked meat sauce, served in Bologna, not spaghetti. It's tortellini in brodo — tiny meat-filled pasta in a rich capon broth, the Christmas dish. And it's mortadella — the city's famous cured meat, better than any bologna you've ever had. The osteria rule. A plate of tagliatelle al ragù at a local osteria costs €10–15. Tortellini in brodo runs €12–18. A piadina — flatbread stuffed with cheese and cured meats — is €5–7 from any street stall. At Osteria dell'Orsa, a student favourite near the university, a full meal costs €12–18. Look for the osteria with locals in work clothes. That's the one. Must-try, ranked: · Tagliatelle al ragù — the city's signature dish. €10–15. · Tortellini in brodo — the Christmas classic. €12–18. · Mortadella — the real bologna. €5–8 for a plate at a market. · Piadina — the street food of the region. €5–7. · Espresso — the daily ritual. €1.50 at any local bar. The aperitivo rule. Bologna invented the aperitivo — a pre-dinner drink that comes with free unlimited food. At Le Stanze or Camera con Vista, a spritz costs €6–8 and includes a full buffet. That's dinner, essentially, for under €10. 🗺️ HIDDEN BOLOGNA: 3 Places Tourists Miss 1. Finestrella di Via Piella (The Little Window) — Bologna's hidden canal, visible through a small window set into a wall on Via Piella. Press the shutter open and you'll see the Canal delle Moline — a surviving fragment of the city's medieval canal system. It's easy to miss. Look for the small crowd of tourists peering at a wall. No entrance fee. No tour buses. 2. Santo Stefano (The Seven Churches) — A complex of seven churches built into one, dating back to the 5th century. It's one of Bologna's most atmospheric sites, with a labyrinth of chapels, courtyards, and ancient stone. Entry is free. Almost no foreign tourists make it here. That's exactly why you should. 3. Certosa di Bologna — A monumental cemetery that's more of an open-air museum than a burial ground. It's filled with sculptures, frescoes, and tombs dating back to the Napoleonic era. No entrance fee. No crowds. Just you and the silence. Honorable mention: Giardini Margherita — Bologna's largest park, perfect for a picnic or a run. No entrance fee. No tour buses. 💰 BUDGET REALITY CHECK Bologna is moderate for Italy — cheaper than Florence or Venice, similar to Rome, and far more affordable than Milan. It uses the euro (EUR). · Budget traveler: €50–70 per day — hostel dorms, osterias, public transport. · Mid-range traveler: €100–150 per day — private rooms, restaurant meals, occasional taxis. · Tagliatelle al ragù: €10–15. · Tortellini in brodo: €12–18. · Piadina: €5–7. · Espresso: €1.50. · Aperitivo with buffet: €6–8. · Bus ride: €1.50. · Marconi Express: €12.80. · Hostel dorm: €20–35 per night. · Guesthouse (private room): €60–100 per night. Realistic daily budget: €50–150 depending on your style. Budget travelers can stay under €70 with hostels, osterias, and public transport. Mid-range travelers spend around €130 with private rooms and occasional restaurant meals. 🙏 ETIQUETTE: 5 Unspoken Rules That Matter Bologna runs on warmth, food culture, and a few unwritten rules that locals take seriously. These aren't tourist rules — they're how the city works. 1. Never order spaghetti bolognese. It doesn't exist here. The dish is tagliatelle al ragù. Ordering spaghetti bolognese in Bologna is like asking for a croissant in Naples — you'll get a look. 2. Coffee is a ritual. Don't rush it. An espresso at the bar costs €1.50 and is drunk standing up, in one or two sips. Cappuccino after 11 AM is a tourist tell. Drink it like a local: espresso, morning, standing. 3. Use your right hand for eating, giving, and receiving. The left hand is considered unclean. When eating from a communal plate, take from the section directly in front of you. 4. Don't sit at a table if you only want a coffee. In Italy, standing at the bar costs less than sitting at a table. At a table, the price can triple. This isn't rudeness — it's just how it works. 5. Tipping is appreciated, not mandatory. In restaurants, 5–10% is standard for good service if not already included. Leave it in cash on the table. For taxis, round up. For hotel porters, €2–5 per bag. 💾 SAVE THIS POST IF: · You're planning Bologna in 2026 — it's Italy's most underrated city break, with 2.5 million visitors and the world's longest portico. · You want to eat tagliatelle al ragù for €12 and find the Finestrella di Via Piella before the crowds do. · You believe the best travel intel comes from real experience, not recycled top-10 lists. Drop a 🇮🇹 in the comments if Bologna is on your 2026 list — and follow for the Parma & Modena deep-dive next. #Bologna2026 #BolognaTravel #HiddenBologna #TripMoments #TripCoins #TravelHacks #BudgetTravelBologna #BolognaGuide #ItalianFood #TagliatelleAlRagu #TortelliniInBrodo #ViaPiella #BolognaOnABudget #TripCom

If Bologna is a deep, heavy, brown old city, Modena is a bright and gentle color utopia💛 A small city you can walk across in 30 minutes, it looks quiet and soft on the outside, but its heritage is truly stunning. Ferrari and Lamborghini were born here, and it is also home to a legendary Michelin-starred restaurant that has twice topped the global rankings. 🚞Transportation Guide: Purchase intercity train tickets to Modena at the Bologna train station. 🏘️City Impression | A Morandi-esque Town 🔸Unlike the vast brown buildings of Bologna, Modena's architectural tones are much brighter. 🔸The streets are filled with light yellow and orange-pink walls, accented with creamy white, low-saturation light blue, and pale purple. 🔸When sunlight hits the walls, the soft atmosphere is fully realized, making it very comfortable to stroll through the streets. ⛪Piazza Grande | Encountering a Gradient Sunset 🔸Modena Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most classic examples of medieval Romanesque architecture in Italy. 🔸Dusk is the most beautiful time in the square, as sunlight slowly covers the top of the cathedral, with colors transitioning from warm yellow to orange, and finally fading into a soft pink. 🔸Many people set up stalls in the middle of the square. Sitting in a square cafe for a break is very pleasant. 🍽️Osteria Francescana | Michelin Dinner 🔸Tucked away in a small alley, this restaurant with a low-key entrance has won three Michelin stars, twice taken the title of World's Best Restaurant, and was named "Best of the Best." 🔸The signature dessert, "Oops! I Dropped the Lemon Tart," was inspired by a real-life kitchen mishap. Served on a plate with a cracked design, it is full of character and is the restaurant's iconic dish. ▫️Tips: The restaurant opens reservations every Monday. It is recommended to book online 3 months in advance, as seats are very limited. A small city that has nurtured top-tier supercars and world-class cuisine—the contrast is striking. A short half-day stay, World Heritage twilight, and a feast for the palate—this is the unique romance of Modena.

When we arranged a home swap with a family in Bologna this summer, we didn’t know much about the city. But I’d always wanted to visit Italy, and Bologna is a university city that is well situated between other Italian cities. It was our home base as we explored Florence, Venice, Modena, and Ferrara. We also fell in love with Bologna’s arcades, deep reds, and slow-paced streets, not to mention its incredible public library.

We had a fantastic tour experience away from Florence's city center. Veronica guided us through the hills surrounding Florence in a golf cart, sharing insights about the history of Medici rule, the local architecture, and famous artists like Michelangelo and Donatello. The tour included delightful stops for wine, salami with bread, and a gelato treat. The scenic views of Florence from the hills provided incredible photo opportunities. We’re so happy we chose to do this tour!

My partner and I recently returned from a stay at the guest house "Casa Barabaru" on Thinadhoo Island in the Vaavu Atoll. We’ve visited the Maldives five times before, always opting for resorts with a simple setup and beautiful reefs, as we enjoy snorkeling. This time, we decided to try a guest house and chose Casa Barabaru after reading numerous reviews and contacting its Italian office conveniently located in our city, Modena. We were truly impressed by the quality of the experience. Mongi (the Maldivian owner who lived in Italy), Laura (the administrative manager), and the entire staff spoke Italian and ran the place with a warm, family-style approach, treating guests like friends. The rooms are not luxurious but spacious, cleaned twice daily, and very comfortable. The restaurant, set up directly on the sand, provides a buffet breakfast in the morning, while lunch includes a first course, main course, fruit, and coffee. Dinner, the main meal, usually features starters, a first and second course, fruit, and coffee. Fish is almost always part of the menu, which would be great for seafood lovers. Unfortunately, as I’m not a fan of fish, the chef kindly prepared alternatives for me, even during excursions. On inhabited islands alcohol isn’t served, but there’s plenty of water and Coca-Cola available. We noticed many people walking by stopped to chat upon hearing Italian, and Mongi often offered coffee or dinner to them. Unsurprisingly, some guests from other establishments became regulars at Casa Barabaru, not only for the warm interactions but also for the excursions. Many even inquired about staying there next year. Casa Barabaru has a high number of returning guests, which speaks volumes about its charm. Thinadhoo has several guest houses, though none seem to offer the same friendly, simplistic, and authentic Maldivian atmosphere found at Casa Barabaru. Unfortunately, our vacation didn’t go completely smoothly as both my partner and I were sick with the flu, likely contracted during the flight. Still, despite not being able to join all the planned excursions, we thoroughly enjoyed the stay, thanks to the heartfelt care of the staff. A big thank you to the whole team at Casa Barabaru!

Just when you think Italy can’t surprise you anymore… Another camera roll starts filling up. ✨ Milan brings a completely different vibe—fashion streets, elegant cafés, rooftop aperitivos, luxury shopping, and the breathtaking Duomo rising above the city. 🍝 Bologna quietly steals your heart with incredible food, medieval towers, endless porticoes, and some of the most authentic local life in Italy. 🧀 Modena delivers fast cars, slow food, and some of Italy’s greatest culinary treasures—from balsamic vinegar to Parmigiano Reggiano. And naturally… your camera roll starts behaving exactly as expected. 😂 Taking 47 photos of the Duomo from slightly different angles. 😂 Saying you’ll “just browse” in Milan and somehow leaving with shopping bags. 😂 Realizing every restaurant in Bologna serves the best pasta you’ve ever had. 😂 Buying authentic balsamic vinegar in Modena and immediately worrying about luggage weight limits. Northern Italy has a habit of making you extend your trip. And somehow, every meal ends with the sentence: “This might be the best thing I’ve eaten in Italy.” 💬 Which city from Part 3 gets your vote?

Modena is Italy’s Motor Valley heart, an exotic car paradise where every petrolhead’s wildest fantasies collide with tangy balsamic vinegar stalls. Start downtown at Museo Enzo Ferrari, a sleek modern hall stuffed with championship F1 cars and vintage road horses; you’ll catch grown adults whispering to 1950s race machines like old pals. A short drive out hits Maserati’s glass factory, home to curvaceous grand tourers born from the town’s racing bloodline. Day trips unlock even bigger thrills: Ferrari’s Maranello museum, Lamborghini’s flashy Sant’Agata campus (spawned from Ferruccio’s petty grudge against Enzo) and Pagani’s hypercar atelier, where carbon-fibre Huayras get hand-finished like high-fashion couture. Local roads teem with test-driving supercars overtaking slow food delivery vans. The only downside? You’ll blow half your budget on museum tickets and branded merch, then get side-tracked sampling aged vinegar mid-sports-car pilgrimage. Every street reeks of engine oil and Parmigiano-Reggiano, blending fast speed and slow Italian comfort—truly heaven for anyone who geeks out over horsepower, even if your non-car travel buddy rolls their eyes nonstop. #italy #modena #enzo #ferrari #pagani #lamborghini #museum
