An Green oasis in the heart of Seoul
Cheonggyecheon is a wonderful example of turning reclaiming urban areas for open, green spaces in the heart of the city.
What used to be a sewer covered by a busy expressway is now a beautiful stream that leads you to the Hangang. A great place to stroll around, exercise or simply to dip your feet in the refreshing water, the area is very popular with locals and tourists alike. Best of all, it's free!
Head here to enjoy some of Seoul's best kept secrets! There might even be times when you forget you're in Korea's busiest city with the calm nature and birds surrounding you!

Cheonggyecheon Stream 🦆
#seoul
Cheonggyecheon Stream is my must go places in Seoul and a stream that flows through Seoul from Gwanghwamun to Dongdaemun. Just like the Singapore river it went through a great restoration process to become how it looks like today. The stream used to be covered with trash and waste but at present day, it has became a popular recreational activity spots and even became a clean natural habitats for some fish, birds and insects.

Cheonggyecheon: Urban Oasis in Seoul's Heart
During my recent trip to Seoul, I had the pleasure of visiting Cheonggyecheon, a beautiful urban stream in the heart of Seoul. Before my visit, I had heard many praises about this unique urban renewal project, but experiencing it firsthand exceeded my expectations. In the midst of the bustling cityscape, Cheonggyecheon provides a serene and peaceful atmosphere that's hard to find elsewhere.
As I strolled along the 10.9-kilometer-long stretch, I was amazed by the harmony of the modern and traditional elements. The well-maintained walkways, charming bridges, and art installations contrasted beautifully with the surrounding historical buildings and ancient stone walls. I particularly enjoyed the murals that showcased South Korea's rich history and culture.
The stream itself was remarkably clean and clear, making it a perfect habitat for various fish and aquatic plants. The sound of flowing water had a soothing effect, and the lush vegetation on both sides provided a welcome respite from the concrete jungle of Seoul. I also loved the stepping stones at various points, allowing visitors to cross the stream while maintaining a close connection with nature.
Throughout my walk, I encountered many locals and tourists alike, enjoying the space in various ways. Some were simply relaxing, while others were jogging, cycling, or practicing photography. The atmosphere was welcoming and inclusive, making it a perfect spot for socializing or spending quality time with loved ones.
At night, Cheonggyecheon transformed into a magical wonderland with colorful lights reflecting on the water's surface. The illuminated bridges and art installations added an enchanting ambiance to the area. This vibrant setting made it an ideal location for a romantic evening or a leisurely night stroll

One of the touristic attractions in seoul. It is close to the famous gwangjang market so my route recommendation is going to market afternoon eat delicious food and at night have a walk by the stream. The view is also good in the morning but i recommend going in the evening and see the lights. #summervacation Stream is not that long you can walk for 10 minutes to finish all stream and look at the surroundings

Christmas at Cheonggyecheon
The season of love, peace and joy could not be more joyful and glee without the colourful lightings decorations. The stream of Cheonggyecheon could not be nicer without the decorations and illuminations plus a big Christmas tree in the middle. The stretch of 2 km is decorated with chatacters related to Christmas with Christmas tree sitting in front of the entrance. There is also a screen showcasing the moments of joy for visitors.
Do note that Christmas in Seoul is winter so temperature typically drops below 0 degree Celcius at night so be sure to keep yourself warm while visiting that area.

📍Changsin-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea
An over 10km long stream in downtown Seoul from Cheonggye Plaza to Dongdaemun, Cheonggyecheon Stream is a restored green space which is visited by lots of locals and overseas visitors. You can take a relaxing and cooling stroll along the pedestrian only stream be it daytime or at night. It's also an alternative way to get to the nearby malls & tourist attractions (other than the subway or buses).
In autumn, certain parts of Cheonggyecheon Stream will be decked in autumn fall colours and will look even more beautiful. Unfortunately, we were there a bit early and the tree leaves were only starting to change colours when we were there.

Urban oasis in Seoul
Cheonggyecheon is a very relaxing stream that doubles as a path that runs through Seoul. Although artificially landscaped, it does offer much needed green and open space in the center of Seoul. It's an example of a successful urban renewal project that aims to restore flora and fauna to the city.
The stream used to be covered by a highway and is now a stream that empties into the Hangang. An excellent area for strolling, it also has its practical use as a non stop path to get to different districts of Seoul. Instead of having to wait for traffic lights and be in the midst of all the roadside traffic, this park and path allows you to comfortably and conveniently walk alongside nature. I also love the variety of landscapes which you can enjoy as you walk along the stream, making every stretch different.
It's a great place to hang out (although drinking alcohol is now banned) and have a picnic or simply take a break while enjoying nature. In the hot summer months you can even dip your feet in the water to cool down.
I really enjoy walking along Cheonggyecheon and every time I'm there I feel very relaxed and happy to have this side of nature available for me. One thing to keep in mind is that it is closed when it rains heavily so enjoy it on clear days! #urban #park #stream #citylife #seoul #korea

Cheonggyecheon stream is located in Seoul’s downtown, and it houses diverse recreational events throughout the year. It’s a man made stream that connects to the Han River, and through its 10km long you’ll find resting spots, exhibitions, performances, cultural activities, etc. In these photos we can see the decorations for Buddha’s Birthday as well as the Umbrella exhibition (a reminder to keep harmony with nature).

Cheonggyecheon, formerly known as Kaifeng, is located in the center of Seoul's city. It is a hydrophobic inland river ordered by the King of the Joseon Dynasty and has a history of more than 600 years. Cheonggyecheon is now a representative landmark in Seoul, a famous tourist punching spot. Today, Seoul is minus nine degrees. I was forced to pull out the door to Qingxichuan to see the light show. To tell the truth, I am still somewhat reluctant. But after seeing the dazzling and colorful lights here, I would rather have to take out all kinds of mobile phones, really worth it! Here we not only see the lights, but also full of power, 2019 hello, let's cheer! z

🇰🇷 The Winter Stillness of Cheonggyecheon Stream
#myhiddengems
Cheonggyecheon Stream, flowing through Seoul, offers a unique winter experience. During this season, the once vibrant greenery turns brown and the plants wither, creating a more subdued but equally beautiful landscape. Despite the muted colors, the stream's historical charm and gentle flow continue to captivate, reflecting the enduring grace of this urban oasis through the cold months.

Recommended Winter Illumination Spot in Korea: Cheonggyecheon!
If you visit Korea, you must see Cheonggyecheon at least once.
It's famous as a lovers' sanctuary and is a must-see for couples traveling together!
Especially during the illumination season, the neon lights are dazzling,
and the light-up has a slightly different taste compared to Japan,
which will surely lift your spirits🫶🏻✨
After enjoying Yukhoe and street food at Dongdaemun and Gwangjang Market,
we took a walk to sober up and headed there~🤤

Seoul Outdoor Library Special Cheonggyecheon Stream
The Seoul Outdoor Library, an annual open-air event launched by the city library, has reopened on Thursdays after a winter break. This year, Cheonggyecheon in central Seoul has been added, joining Seoul Plaza and Gwanghwamun Plaza in offering outdoor reading experiences.
The two outdoor libraries will continue without a summer break until November unlike last year when it had a brief hiatus during the summer months. Instead, the operating hours will be adjusted to evening hours, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. The open-air library at Cheonggyecheon will run on Fridays and Saturdays from April to June and from September to October.#Cheonggyecheon#outdoor #library #seoul

Seoul Attractions: Cheonggyecheon, a Romantic and Charming Retreat
Cheonggyecheon (청계천) is an artificial stream in the heart of Seoul, flowing from Dongdaemun District through Jongno District, and finally into the Han River.
Originally a natural river, it was covered over to make way for roads in 1958. In 2003, the Seoul Metropolitan Government began restoration work on Cheonggyecheon, which was completed in 2005.
Today, Cheonggyecheon has become a beloved resting spot for citizens and tourists alike, featuring numerous beautiful bridges and fountains along its path. It becomes particularly romantic and enchanting when illuminated at night.
Cheonggyecheon not only offers a space for relaxation but also symbolizes Seoul's commitment to environmental protection and urban renewal.

Cheong Gye Cheon Seoul
#familytrips2024
The Cheong Gye Cheon stream in Seoul Korea is a famous stream that stretches from one end to the other. Along this stream are proper walking foot paths, but what is cute about it, is that there are also pebbled steps constructed on the stream so that you can get to the other side. Both tourists and local can be seen crossing over by stepping on these pebbled steps on the stream. The stream is beautifully designed, making it look like a garden and it's a nice scenery seeing the water flows down the city area, where it is lined with many shopping malls and tall skyscrapers. The Cheong Gye Cheon stream is a must visit, taking a walk here also feels nice.

A great fried chicken shop beside Cheonggyecheon
#CherryBlossom2024
Fried Chicken with beer, or simply known as ChiMac, has gained popularity in Korea especially among the younger generations. There is a shop recently operated in Gwanghwamun called bbq Village serves freshly fried chicken. They have a few choices in their menu, crispy, sauced or half and half. Their chicken is fried in olive oil, so you wont have them overfried. We ordered the crispy set with cheeseballs and softseinks, and we love every single piece of it. What makes that place special is the exterior design where you enjoy an al-fresco dining at the terrace and also the roof top, with an outdoor lounge setting. Night time is truly lively with many workers knocked off gathering around. It is a highly recommended place for those who likes fried chicken.

This place is called Cheonggyecheon in Jongno! It's good to walk during the day, but it's a good place to walk while feeling the cool air with your favorite people on summer nights. Listen carefully to the sound of the cloth flowing!

Must-visit attractions on a trip to South Korea: Cheonggyecheon in Seoul
When revisiting 'Urban Men and Women Love Law', it really feels an incredible experience. One of the unforgettable moments is that the charming actor Ji Chang Wook fully embodies the image of the ideal man in my dream! When I saw him standing by the clear stream waiting for Yoon Xuaner's romantic scene, I felt as if I was in the TV, attracted and intoxicated by the romantic scene. Through such a beautiful experience, I fell deeply in love with this TV series.
One thing must be admitted: in the city of Seoul, the romantic atmosphere is everywhere. There are many quiet corners here, providing everyone with a peaceful world away from the hustle and bustle of the city. One of the wonderful places is Cheonggyecheon, this beautiful place allows us to walk slowly, sit on the river bank to enjoy the pleasing scenery, or just a single person quiet, thinking about things.
After a tiring work, why not go to Cheonggyecheon to enjoy a comfort, breathe fresh air, let yourself relax, forget all the troubles and unease.

Welcome to the Yeon Deung Hoe
Welcome to the Yeon Deung Hoe (Lotus Lantern Festival), officially registered as an UNESCO
Intangible Cultural Heritage Site! *
Visit Seoul has captured the brilliant display of the diversely colored traditional lights at
Cheonggyecheon Stream through these amazing shots.
In Korea, it is common to hold a Lotus Lantern Festival in celebration of Buddha's birthday. The festival dates back to the Silla Dynasty (57 BC - 935 AD) and is a tradition that still continues on to this day! During this festival, when one lights a lantern, it becomes a symbol of prayer to Buddha asking for his blessing.
The festival is set to be held online with the exhibition of lanterns on full display during the month of May along the main drag of Jongno, Cheonggyecheon Stream.
In 2024, I wish to visit this place again.

🇰🇷 Strolling along Cheonggyecheon stream
The best part of Cheonggyecheong stream is right at the start of the waterfall and this part is just right at the entrance of HiKR ground. You can take a water along the river stream, have some light bites and enjoy the peace here. You also can cross over the river stream easily with the stone steps and this river stream is not deep at all. You can find people soaking their feet in the river stream too but this is not encouraged. If you can come here at night, you can find the river stream is illuminated in many colours. Many locals come here too as there are many office and apartment buildings in this area.
