Hongfu Temple
Dingxiang County • Hongfu Temple & Two Celebrity Residences
Hongfu Temple, a national treasure hidden in the fields! The unassuming temple houses exquisite Song Dynasty clay sculptures! It would be a treasure in any other province.
Residences of modern celebrities: The residence of Shanxi Wang, who stood on the opposite side of the people, is crowded with tour buses and tourists; the small courtyard of the founding hero is deserted and unattended. I guess someone comes to open the door and sweep the floor every day.

Hongfu Temple in Xinzhou | Pilu Zhenjing.
|Pilu Zhenjing. Hongfu Temple in Xinzhou is located 23 kilometers northeast of Dingxiang County. It was originally a temple. The existing buildings include a five-bay main hall facing south, a five-bay east side hall, a two-bay west side hall, a south-facing gate, and surrounding walls. The five-bay main hall has a gable and hip roof with six purlins and is three bays deep. The structure is extremely solid and beautiful.
The plaque "Pilu Zhenjing" is hung in the middle of the main hall door. There are nine Buddha statues in the main hall, and there are many scattered statues and hanging statues. The entire statue group is harmonious and well-arranged, exquisite and lifelike.
Hongfu Temple is full of colorful gauze, and the old wall is like a crow.
Spring is already windy and rainy, and more tourists shake off the flowers.
This temple is also frequented by ancient literati and ink guests. Looking back, it has been over a thousand years of spring and autumn dreams. The earth wall cannot keep up with the changes of the times, but it can surround this cave.
Tickets: Free. Opening hours are not fixed.

📍 Location: Dongcun, Beishe, Hongdao Town, Dingxiang County, Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province. Here lies a mysterious and charming ancient temple.
🏰 History: Hongfu Temple, though its founding date is unknown, was already famous during the Song Xuanhe period. It was once a religious stronghold on the southern slopes of Mount Wutai, and its glory continued until the early Qing Dynasty.
🏞️ Layout: Resembling an ancient fortress, Hongfu Temple is situated on a 7-meter-high platform, facing south with its back to the north. The courtyard has one entrance, with the main hall standing solemnly and the Dizang Hall quietly on both sides.
🏗️ Architectural Features: The main hall is spacious, with five bays and six rafters deep, single-eaved with two ends. The beam structure is exquisite, and the column heads are adorned with dougong, showcasing the ancient craftsmen's superb skills.
🌟 Colored Sculptures: Inside the hall, there are 12 Buddha statues, 9 of which are from the Song and Jin dynasties. There are also hanging sculptures on the beams, each a treasure of art.
🎨 Decoration Details: The front eaves are elaborately decorated, with a plaque inscribed with 'Piluzhenjing' hanging in the center. This was written by Li Hang in the ninth year of Daoguang (1829) of the Qing Dynasty, witnessing the passage of time.
