Seoul where to go: Ikseon-dong Hanok Village
#traveldiaries
Near Gyeongbokgung Palace, in the Jongno district, lies Ikseon-dong Hanok Village, a place filled with traditional Korean charm. To get there from Gyeongbokgung, take subway line 3, ride for two stops, and get off at Jongno 3-ga Station. Take exit 6 and walk 300 meters to reach the village. This area is lined with shophouses decorated in the ancient Korean style, making it an ideal spot for photography enthusiasts. Here, you'll find a variety of establishments, including coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants, and souvenir stores. While the traditional Korean aesthetic is prominent, many shops also feature decorations inspired by other countries, such as France and Italy, providing a diverse cultural experience. Spending half a day exploring this village is definitely worth your time.

A traditional gem in Seoul, Ikseon-dong
#seoultrip
While walking around the city sightseeing, we accidentally found this place after having dinner at Jongno-3-ga and was very surprised to see such traditional Hanok village still existed. Ikseon-dong, which is the Hanok Village since the Joseon dynasty, is now remodeled to a refurbished Hanok Village and most of them were converted to restaurants, cafes or galleries. The night time is very alluring as there are many shops decorated to have a very romantic feelings. There are many hipster eateries and cafes, which is why this place is the favourite spot for young people and couples.

Seoul have my soul 🤍
#seoul
Discovered Ikseondong when I was browsing through Instagram, so I decided to pay it a visit during our trip to Seoul. Ikseon-Dong is a district slightly east of Insadong. It’s a neighborhood with the cutest little alleys with many Hanoks, trendy boutiques, amazing cafes and great restaurants. Some call Ikseon-Dong the hipster place of Seoul. It is certainly one of the trendiest and most up and coming neighbourhoods in Seoul. The atmosphere in the middle of these alleys with all these Hanoks is just fantastic! The connecting alleys which makes you feel like you are in a maze but there's something good waiting for you at every turn. It is also an incredible place for your instagram photos. There are so many great angles from which you can take stunning shots. The cool thing about the neighborhood is that the alleys are really small, so you feel like you’re walking around a complete different part of Seoul. Quaint little shops and cafes converted from ancient imarchitectures filled up the streets, displaying a perfect blend of modern and history in the heart of Seoul. We tried several of them, but beware there's a long waiting line in front of the popular spots. It seems touristy, but the majority are locals and it was really nice to visit this area for a couple of hours.
Although it was pretty packed the day we went, the atmosphere was absolutely wonderful and we really enjoyed seeing the Hanok being transformed into cafes and other shops.
Tip: My advice is to go early - when they open to avoid line ups.

Cheongsudang Cafe 🎋
#seoul
Cheongsudang Cafe is a charming Hanok-style cafe located in Ikseon-dong Hanok Village, just a short walk from Jongno 3-ga station. One of its distinctive features is the bamboo forest at the entrance, which creates a tranquil atmosphere and leads visitors through a path of stepping stones and lanterns to the main area of the cafe.
Inside, customers can choose between several seating options, such as tatami mats or a main table adorned with plants as a centerpiece. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with wooden beams, traditional decorations, and soft lighting.
However, it's worth noting that the cafe has a policy of requiring customers to order one drink and cake per person in order to dine there when I was there in October 2022.

National Hamburger Lotteria's Bulgogi Burger in IKSEONDONG
#뷰좋은카페
I went to #BulgogiBurger30 in Ikseon-dong!
#DeokingwanKoreanBeefBulgogiBurger
Deokin-gwan, which I enjoyed near my house because it is located in The Hyundai, was a Lotteria burger, and I was able to enjoy a strong gravy that I had never tasted anywhere else.
#Makeyourownburger
Making your own burger was the most fun!
Since I made a chicken burger themed, I chose chicken patty and sesame seed brioche.
I chose the savory half-boiled egg patty on top and was able to enjoy the savory taste of the burger and egg together! Be sure to visit the guests and try making their signature burger!
#bulgogipie
My favorite menu in Lotteria was Zippie!
I am happy that I can eat Bulgogi-flavored Zippie here.
This is a visual gangster side menu that puts a whole Bulgogi topping on top of Lotteria's savory Zippie.
I held the Ikseon-dong Village Museum as a double major graduation thesis project, and it was a very happy day eating my favorite food in my favorite neighborhood🥰

Ethereal hot spring restaurant in Seoul
#newyearadventure Hidden in the streets of Ikseondong is a beautiful hanok restaurant decorated with a hot spring setting called Oncheonjip.
Not only is the interior of the restaurant breathtaking, but so is the food. It serves mainly Japanese hotpot. We ordered a shabu shabu set that comes with 4 tiers and a steak rice bowl. The steak was soft and melted once chewed. It also comes with unique side dishes and desserts. Do make reservations if you do not want to be disappointed as this place is highly popular and has long waiting lines for dinner.

아네모네
Which may be the most popular this the summer, the Korean house with a lot of water features and glass structure, giving a sense of refreshing benefits of good standing in the alley of the cave entrance, although Bukchon Hanok Village and correct and that beautiful hanok group compared to the modest, can even be seen grinding humble time roof with an intricate high-voltage wire entwined appear a little shabby, but I especially like the benefits of suitable holes, because here the history and modern combine particularly well. Yi Shan-dong is, in addition, gwangjang market, which I also highly recommend coming to Seoul punch, some young artists and young entrepreneurs are that old hanok selected as the result, we began operating from a variety of full of personality and characteristics of the coffee shops, restaurants, small shops and other handmade goods made to make this forgotten history of the area turned into a sophisticated art space, therefore, very high in popularity among young Koreans, highly recommended to everyone here stroll. Into this area, it is Raiders do not need, to relax and to enjoy a wide variety of those beautiful cafes.
JOJO’s wonderful trip.
A great place to wander around, visit cafes and cool shops at Ikseon-dong. A must visit place in Seoul where traditional means modern architecture. Shops and cafes are established within hanok houses giving that nostalgic vibe in a modern town. Chill out at cool cafes and discover accessories, clothes and perfect gifts from local brands and sellers. Definitely love visiting these allies around Ikseon-dong. #ikseondong #hanok #seoul

Exploring Ikseondong
Walking through the streets of Ikseondong Hanok Village in Seoul, Korea is a must when you’re there! The streets can be quite crowded with lots of tourists but there might be less people in the morning! The place is super pretty and gives off such chill vibes, with elements of history in their hanok-style shops and there’s so much cafes selling eye-catching and yummy food!

Ikseon-dong trip
#dreamdestination
Ikseon-dong is a truly beautiful place.
There are many pretty cafes and a hanok street.
There is delicious Korean food.
You can spend quality time with your family, friends and lovers.
| Gyeongbokgung Palace| Ikseon-dong!. A neighborhood for literary youths to stroll around, full of galleries, cafes, bakeries, etc. Full of artistic atmosphere, you can go into a delicately decorated cafe for afternoon tea when you are tired. And I also saw the traditional Hanok architecture with a sense of age~
🟡If Apgujeong gives me a feeling of nobility, then Samcheong-dong gives me a feeling of petty bourgeoisie, literary, elegant and romantic
🟡I sigh that the streets of Seoul are too beautiful, casually shooting every frame is a pictorial wei a regret is too too cold did not wear Hanbok feeling
📌Small Tips: We didn't make a strategy, because everywhere I went was very attractive to me~ I can stroll around for a long time, and I just enjoyed the beautiful afternoon time leisurely (I also encountered a super delicious fish cake shop on the side of the road)

Photo Booth experience in Seoul 🇰🇷
Taking pictures at photobooths is a must-do in Seoul. This is a trend among Korean youth so we had to do it 😉
B ROOM STUDIO is located right in the heart of Ikseon-dong Hanok Village. It is one of the most popular photo booths in the Ikseon area. There's no staff in the shop, so you can just go there and then pose for selfies or take photos in booths for a small fee, using an electronic kiosk. There are some fun props in the shop that you can borrow too.
In 2024, I want to create more of these mementos with my most favorite person ❤️

💩 Cafe in Seoul ☕️
On the fourth floor of this block, you’ll find a poop cafe hidden amongst locals selling their creations in little market shops. A lovely space for a look and wander before stopping for a cup of coffee out a toilet! #southkorea #Seoul #travel #falltrip #localguides #ikseondong #solotravel

A fun date in Ikseondong 🇰🇷🔫
We didn't plan for this activity, but we saw this shooting club when we were exploring the street of Ikseon-dong.
Ikseon Shooting Club is an indoor shooting range that provides a variety of BB guns. We tried both the rifle and the pistol. It was my first time doing it, but I think I did well 👏
This is a fun activity that you should do in Ikseon!
Address: 21-13 Supyo-ro 28-gil, Jongo-gu, Seoul
Getting there:
Walk for approx. 3 min from Jongno 3(sam)-ga Station (Seoul Subway Line 1, 3, 5), Exit 6
I want to go to a shooting range using real guns.

Cheongsudang Hanok Cafe 🍵
Another day, another korean cafe recommendation by me.
Cheongsudang is one of beautiful cafe i've went to.. As you can see, the entrance is so unique like you have to step on the rock in their fake small river before you step into the cafe. I love the hanok and green-eco concept, its so nice to hang out with friends.
They have so many desserts and everything look delicious, but I just ordered the coffee that time. The matcha was so so sooooo good 💯
This cafe is so famous in korea, you'll see a lot of people put this cafe in the list so please expect full house or line when you visit.
Overall, 8/10 🌟

🇰🇷 Ikseondong alley
If you get time, come over to Ikseondong after you finish Insadong. This alley is even narrower and smaller than Insadong. You will definitely have to be on foot if you want to come here. It is an alley full of unique cafes and restuarnts and you will need a reservation to be here. Some of the cafes cannot accept reservations but you will have to queue here in persons or use their automated queue. This automated queue will require a local Korean number. There are so many options here and I can never visit all the cafes and resturants here at Ikseondong.

🇰🇷 Ikseondong cafe culture
Some cafe here are crowded and even with a waiting time of minimum 1.5 to 2 hours at Cheonsudang. So while waiting, you can explore the rest of the cafes here. You can even walk over to Insadong as well. The cafe culture in Seoul is (usually) every customer need to order 1 drink and free seating style. So you get your own seats and place your order at the cashier and pick it up later once your number are being called. This kind of seating arrangements can drag the waiting time longer because the seats are not packed and customers no need to sit side-by-side.

🇰🇷 Cheonsudang cafe
What a beautiful cafe in Ikseondong alley and you should visit here at least once. There are too many must-go cafes in Seoul and you will never be able to visit all of them. So what you can do is to try to visit the cafes in the same area/district and not over-ordering too. It is hard to resist ordering because every drinks and food are so tasty looking. The cafe culture in Korean is popular and you can also get high speed wifi too. This is why you can see many students are at the cafe studying. Cheonsudang is a lovely place, designed to look like a forest and you can enjoy their specially curated desserts.

DongBaek Antique Bakery Cafe, Ikseon-dong🇰🇷
#wheretogo
One of the up and coming trendiest areas to dine at in Seoul, South Korea, is Ikseon-dong and it is not difficult to understand why.
It’s a neighborhood with the cutest little alleys with many Hanoks, trendy boutiques, amazing cafes and great restaurants.
DongBaek Bakery Cafe is a quaint antique cafe in Ikseon-dong, famous for its puffy soufflé pancakes. It is a must-visit cafe on my list. The items we ordered, especially the apple tea, were really delicious!
My rating: 4 ⭐️ out of 5!

Ikseondong Hanok Village Cafes
Do make a trip down the happening cafes in Ikseodong Hanok houses. The nostalgic style vintage and cute cafes are such a satisfying meal both for the tummy and 👀 eye feast. This area is buzzing with overflowing creativity and nice dessert cafes like milk toast and ice 🍨 gelato cafes for your sweet tooth.
Managed to find a Dumplings noodles restaurant frequent by locals. Cooked by a Korean Ahjumah, the only word for this meal is..."Delicious"😋

cheongsudang cafe Ikseon Dong - must GO
Cafe with nice Xanadu feel in a zen garden setting. Cheongsudong has delicious soufflé desserts with unique flavours like Sesame, Strawberry Cheese and the classic are all superb. Drinks recommendations include Matcha Latte, fruit sparkling drinks. This place always have a,queue and need to use the kiosk to book a queue number. That can ne a bit challenging because it is in Korean and if you do not have a Korean phone number, it will be a bit less convenient

We really love and enjoyed this place! Lots of amazing restaurants and delicious cafes to hang out with friends and family. We especially enjoyed the freshly baked Salt Bread at Soha Salt Pond, where the breads and coffee are freshly made while the ambience made it really relaxing. There were also lots of photo-taking spots around the area so I highly recommend coming here with your loved ones. #cafe #foodie
