It was first established in 1993, originally located at No. 40 Tiefo Temple, Xihai, Drum Tower. The new museum was fully completed and opened in September 2018. The total construction area of the museum is 32,429 square meters, with an exhibition hall area of about 2,000 square meters. Its design concept is derived from the ancient Taosi Observatory, symbolizing the "sun and moon shining together." The overall architecture is shaped like "the sun embracing the moon," cleverly integrating traditional culture with the Fen River Ecological Park, creating a unique visual effect. The museum has a rich collection, housing 140,000 cultural relics, including 94 sets of national first-class cultural relics, 488 sets of second-class cultural relics, and 2,037 sets of third-class cultural relics. The museum's treasures include pottery, porcelain, and bronzes, with bronzes, ceramics, and woodblock New Year paintings being particularly distinctive.
