Osaka, Japan - A Hotspot for Influencers: The Wide-Mouthed Lion at Namba Yasaka Shrine
Namba Yasaka Shrine, the coolest shrine in Osaka, is located in the Sennichimae area of Osaka City, near Namba and Daikokucho. Despite its small size, the shrine is quite popular with tourists, mainly because of its famous Lion Pavilion, known for its huge lion head with an open mouth.
The lion head, with eyes like bronze bells and a gaping mouth showing its teeth, seems ready to devour all bad luck and evil spirits, bringing it to life and making it a popular spot for influencers to check in!
In fact, the Lion Pavilion is not the main building of the shrine, but rather a stage for ritual performances set within the lion's mouth. The main shrine building is located next to it, dedicated to the deities Susanoo-no-Mikoto, Kushinadahime-no-Kami, and Yahashira-no-Mikogami, offering various divine virtues such as protection from misfortune, plague removal, good matchmaking, and safe childbirth.

Five times from Osaka, don't miss these places! Tour guide morning: Namba Yasaka Shrine is going to the market. If you want to capture the effect of face sealing, it's best to bring a telephoto. Your phone won't be able to capture this effect. It doesn't always have a sense of mystery. Afternoon: My favorite temple is Biwei Temple, where there are many large, small, and super sized Dharma masters, which are incredibly cute. As long as it's a bit far, I took a taxi and spent a lot of money to get there by taxi. No evening: The last one is from Osaka City. I went there in the evening and enjoyed the cherry blossoms very well. Chuangwei: After coming out, you can leave Doudun Hori for a stroll.

Bad luck, go away, good luck, come quickly! This shrine in Osaka is so eye-catching!
Namba Yasaka Shrine is indeed a popular spot in Osaka. There were not many people along the way, but the entrance was crowded. If time permits, be sure to check in!
The lion's den with its mouth wide open is very eye-catching, you can see it as soon as you enter! The lion's den with its mouth open is a stage for performing Kagura dance. The mouth is the stage, the eyes are the lights, and the nose is the loudspeaker📢
It is said that standing in front of the lion's den can absorb bad luck and bring good luck! I hope it's really like this The blessing object is a carp, and I also saw many handwritten blessings, hoping for world peace and no disasters!

Namba Yasaka Jinja
A shrine has been called "Namba Shimomiya" since ancient times and was the god of birth in the Nanba area. It was known to the public as an old shrine that enshrined Gion Gyu no Tenno from the time of Emperor Gosanjo's Enkyu (1069 to 1073). Originally, it was a mixture of Shinto and Buddhism, but after the Meiji Restoration, the temple was abolished due to the separation of Shinto and Buddhism, and it became a gosha shrine in 1872. The current main hall was completed in May 1974. It is said that the Tsusuraki Shinto ritual held on the third Sunday of January every year was based on the historical fact that the enshrined deity of, Susano no Omi no Mikoto, extered the Yamata noorochi, and removed the hardships of the people. It is also introduced in Settsu Meisho Zue" and "Settsu Meisho Zukai Taisei". In 2001, it was designated as the first intangible folk cultural property in Osaka City.

Do not be afraid as this is just a shrine of a lion’s head. It is a small shrine in the neighbourhood and there is no crowd here. It is definitely worth a visit to this special shrine as you do not get to see a shrine decorated in the form of a lion. The locals call this a secret shrine and it is only about an eight minute walk from a busy subway station. The symbolic meaning behind the lion is that his wide open mouth will take in all the bad stuff and only has good luck around everyone. Buy some charms for good luck!

Ghost
While the Namba area is known for many things; eating, drinking, shopping and karaoke to name a few shrines and temples aren’t exactly at the top of the list. However, explore just a bit beyond the noise and neon and you’ll discover something that’s dazzling in an altogether different way. Namba Yasaka is famous for its lion-shaped stage, which stands out as a unique piece of architecture, especially compared with the austere temple beside it. It’s not hard to draw a parallel with Osaka’s kaleidoscopic mix of traditional, retro, modern and futuristic, distilled at this secret shrine smack in the center of the city’s bawdiest entertainment district.

A giant lion head-shaped stage at the shrine ⛩️
#goingplaces
Namba Yasaka Shrine is a unique and lesser-known shrine located in the Namba district of Osaka. It is famous for its impressive and giant lion head-shaped stage, which serves as the main feature of the shrine. The structure is called the "Shishi-no-dou," and it stands about 10 meters tall, with a massive lion's face that symbolizes protection and good fortune. This unusual design makes it a popular spot for visitors looking to experience a less conventional shrine in Osaka.
The shrine itself is dedicated to the god of marriage, which makes it a popular destination for couples. It’s a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, with its quiet atmosphere and beautiful grounds.

🎌A Journey to Namba Yasaka Shrine
⛩️Namba Yasaka Shrine is a sacred spot nestled in the heart of Osaka, yet it exudes an air of peace and positive energy. The first thing that catches your eye upon entering is the massive lion head structure, which is not only visually impressive but is also believed to have the power to swallow bad luck and bring fortune. If you're looking to boost your luck or pray for success, this is definitely a must-visit.
🎊I was deeply impressed by the serene atmosphere of the shrine. Despite being located in the bustling Namba area, the shrine's grounds offer a sense of calm and tranquility. Surrounded by nature and traditional Japanese architecture, I could feel the spiritual and sacred energy that has been preserved through generations.
🇯🇵In addition to its beauty, Namba Yasaka Shrine is a place where locals come to pray for success in work, studies, and life. If you're in Osaka, don't miss the chance to visit this shrine to experience its positive energy and the charm of ancient Japanese architecture.🎏

Our family trip to Namba Yasaka Shrine in Osaka was fascinating and unique. We marveled at the shrine's giant lion head-shaped stage, which captivated the kids and made for great family photos. Exploring the serene grounds, we appreciated the mix of traditional and whimsical elements, and the kids enjoyed making wishes at the shrine.
For our next family trip, I suggest Kyoto. It's conveniently close to Osaka and offers an abundance of historical and cultural experiences. We can visit stunning temples, partake in traditional tea ceremonies, and wander through scenic gardens. The shrine is surrounded by tall residential buildings, don't panick thinking it is weird (because we did). This temple is located strategically in the middle of residential area, giving the surrounding residence a peace of mind that the temple is there to protect them.
We arrived at this temple around mid noon time but weather was not pleasant, but we quickly snap a couple nice photos before the rain comes.
Also noticed that people starting walking in after we arrived, everyone was rushing to take photo and luckily every corner allow us to take beautiful photos!

Namba Yasaka, a kawaii shrine with a celestial ceiling
♻️♻️Namba Yasaka Shrine⛩️⛩️⛩️, affectionately known by locals as 'Namba no Shita no Miya', has an ancient history that is difficult to trace. The earliest recorded history dates back to the era of Emperor Nintoku, which means it has a history of nearly a thousand years.
♻️♻️Legend has it that around the 5th century, an epidemic broke out in Osaka. The divine lion killed the disease-spreading Yamata no Orochi, a serpent with eight heads and eight tails🐍🐍🐍, protecting the local people. Since then, the deity has been enshrined here to guard Namba, and this ancient shrine has been regarded as the guardian shrine of the area. After the Meiji Restoration and the separation of Shinto and Buddhism, the shrine was abandoned for a while. The current main shrine building was reconstructed in 1974.
♻️♻️The iconic structure here is the lion hall with a kawaii ceiling design🦁🦁🦁. It is said that if you stand in front of this lion, its wide-open mouth will suck away all your misfortune, pain, and obstacles, leaving you with good luck, happiness, and satisfaction.
♻️♻️In fact, the lion hall is a stage for festival performances, with the open mouth serving as the stage, the eyes as lights, and the nose as a loudspeaker📣📣📣.
♻️♻️The koi fish-shaped amulets🐟🐟🐟 are a specialty here, and the fortune-telling is said to be very accurate. Many who draw good fortunes will also write on ema (votive tablets) and hang them along with their drawn fortunes on a rack, praying for their wishes to come true🙏🙏🙏. Bad fortunes are tied to a designated rope, symbolizing leaving the bad luck behind and not being affected🎋🎋🎋.
