Noryangjin Fisheries Market - Seoul
#seoul
The few times I’ve been to Seoul recently, I’ve always come here to have good seafood, because it has super good deal , especially king crab, the price is much lower than in Singapore!
You can reach here by Metro Line 1 and Line 9, so it is very convenient to come here. Line 9 has regular trains that stop at sub-stations and express trains that only stop at major stations. Noryangjin Station is a major station, so both types of trains will arrive. If you want to go to other stations, you must pay attention to the type of car.
Entering the Noryangjin Fisheries Market, the first floor is where various fresh seafood stalls. You can buy whatever you like, and you can often meet people who speak Chinese or English, so there is no issue with communication.
After you have done shopping for your preferred seafood, you can take it home and cook it yourself. Or choose the valet cooking canteen on the second or fifth floor to help you cook.
Every time I choose the "Emperor Canteen" on the second floor, I think it suits my liking. If there is no preference, the seafood stalls also have a cooperative cooking chef. Just tell them, and someone will help take the purchased seafood and take the customer upstairs. When we arrive at the cafeteria, we will discuss various seafood recipes with the guests, and there are usually English and Chinese speaking people there, so there is no problem!
When you come to Seoul, I really recommend you to come!

Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market
#Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Noryangjin Fish Market is the biggest fish market in Seoul, located just outside Noryangjin station. Recently they have shifted from the old market to a new market which I think is really good for the vendors.
It will be an experience picking out your own mix of fish, seafood such as lobster, king crab, clams and raw fishes.
You may be overwhelmed by the number of stalls asking you to view or choose from them.
After buying your seafood from one of your selected stores, they will actually bring you to another floor (usually is L3 to L5) to a restaurant to prepare your dishes. You will have to pay for the cooking and service provided by the restaurant. The restaurant and vendor stall may not be the same owner by they may work in partnership.
This market is a definitely worth to visit when you are in Seoul to either experience the wet market or the food itself.
Should you have time to go to Busan or Jeju Island, it will also be good to visit for seafood as these cities are nearer to the sea as compared to Seoul.

The Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market is easily accessible from the Noryangjin metro station. Seafood selection was wide and literally (almost) everything can be found. Seafood is super fresh. You can also practice your bargaining skills with the ajummas.
Buy whatever you would like to try and head up to the 2nd floor where the restaurant could prepare your purchases at a fee. You can specifically request on how you like the food to be prepared or ask the shop for recommendations.
It's definitely worth a visit.

Dancing Squid Jumping Fish
674, Nodeul-ro, Dongjak-gu, Seoul
After watching so many videos online on eating freshly caught live squid, would you dare to eat it alive? If you do, then the Noryangjin fisheries wholesale market is the best place for you to try out. One of the biggest fisheries markets located at the noryangjin train station, on the Seoul subway line 1. Once you alight, you need to walk about 100 meters over the bridge, to reach the fish market. Be sure that you can take on the challenge, as the smell might be overwhelming in the fish market.
The Noryangjin fisheries were huge, with more than 6 floors. The basement level was tons of restaurants for you to pick if you love seafood. I find the price amazing. One plate of 8 to 10 oysters cost only 5000 won which is $6 bucks. This is really worth trying. You can move on to level 2 if you need to get those live seafood cooked. Do check the prices before paying. This is really a wow amazing place for me to explore.

🇰🇷 Raw seafood lunch (Kim’s Maguro Donburi)
Go up to level 2 at Noryangjin Fish market and you can get to eat fresh seafood at a lesser price. You can choose your seafood and method of cooking. I did not want that so I chose a sashimi food stall. I want to eat fresh tuna slices and sea urchin. I also wanted to order their fish soup but I got rejected as I was alone. The fish soup will be too much for 1 person to finish. This fish soup is cooked with fish bones with spice added. So I get to choose my own tuna piece, sliced up nicely by the chef, a bowl of sea urchin rice and a salad on the house. I had a great lunch.

🇰🇷🐟 Noryangjin Fish Market
A wonderful local fish market and you can get cheap and fresh seafood items here. It has a subway station on its own, Noryangjin station, so it is very easy to come here by public transport. You can see many live seafood located on level 1 and many eateries on level 2. It is a clean fish market but it is wet so please do not slip and fall. Do not wear expensive shoes here and make sure your shoes are safe to walk on water. The market has been segregated into different zones so it is much organised. Great shopping experience!

Noryangjin is South Korea's oldest and largest seafood market. Although a bit away from downtown, it is a popular place for both locals and tourists.
It’s like an aquarium where you can eat the exhibits. Unlike a lot of fish markets around the world, many of the fish are still alive in tanks. Because of that, it doesn’t smell as rank as other markets. It also uses digital ordering system here.
Another highlight it is a central wholesale market established by city government and organized of the consignment sales business (focused business) of selling various kinds of fishery products in bulk through the public auction or fixed price/private sales.

Fresh seafood market with lots of options and restaurants to cook for you. We were there for dinner and enjoyed the fresh seafood in one of their upstairs restaurants which we were guided to after picking out what we wanted. The restaurant was busy, but had plenty of staff working there so service was good at 또순이 which is a 24/7 place.

seafood mania at Noryangjin
seafood lovers fall in! take either the subway Line 1 or 9 to Noryangjin Station and get ready to wow your eyes with a wide variety of sea creatures!
take your time to stroll through the many lanes of the market, discover interesting sea animals, take your pick and remember to bargin for discount and freebies! then bring your catch to level 2 and enjoy your seafood feast!
prices are elevated now compared to a few years back, but still remain attractive compared to SG. most of the store owners speak Mandarin, so no communication problems, prefer cash payment over card.
remember to fill your wallet with cash and then your stomach with seafood!

Be prepared to haggle for price. I went on monday ard 11am and the market was not crowded at all
Even with minimal Korean it was enjoyable.
I love this seafood market place. The market looks like a shopping mall with lots of vendors selling fresh seafood, frozen seafood. You can take home your seafood or have it prepared in the restaurant. Smallest crab available was 1.3kg take note if you're travelling alone.
Definitely visit a visit if you love seafood. Had a great time here.
