In love with Lijiang Ancient Town♥️
Lijiang Ancient Town is a picturesque blend of history and natural beauty. Its narrow, winding cobblestone streets, lined with traditional Naxi-style wooden buildings, exude timeless charm. Clear canals flow gently alongside willow-lined paths, reflecting lantern-lit bridges in the evening. Flower-filled courtyards and hidden tea houses add to the enchanting atmosphere, while views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain rise majestically in the background. At dusk, the town glows warmly, with lanterns lighting up its cozy alleys, creating a dreamlike scene that feels like stepping into a living painting.

Sifang Street is the heart of the ancient city of Lijiang. The traffic is well connected, and the surrounding alleys are quiet...
Walking on the streets in the four directions makes people feel as if they have stepped into the prosperous scene of "Qingming Shanghe Tu". To this day, a large area of the ancient city still maintains the architectural characteristics of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are still a lot of tile houses and buildings in the style of "three squares and one wall, four in five courtyards, walking horse corner buildings", which not only highlight the structural layout, but also pursues carving and decoration, which is poor on the outside and beautiful on the inside, exquisite and clever...

Lijiang 3 OldTowns
#travellerwonderland
Lijiang, in Yunnan Province, China, is home to three main ancient towns, and I am pleased to manage to visit all these old towns, collectively recognized as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Old Town of Lijiang."
These three towns are:
-Dayan Ancient Town (大研古城) – The most famous and central part of Lijiang, known for its well-preserved traditional Naxi architecture, cobblestone streets, and vibrant culture. This is the biggest old town in Lijiang, with many beautiful cafes, restaurants with outstanding fresh flowers, guest houses, and temple, behind this old town is Black Dragon Pool Park.
-Shuhe Ancient Town (束河古镇) – A smaller, quieter town located about 4 kilometers northwest of Dayan, historically an important stop on the Ancient Tea Horse Road.
-Baisha Ancient Town (白沙古镇) – The oldest of the three towns and a key cultural center of the Naxi people, known for its ancient murals and serene atmosphere, with the backdrop of Jade Dragon Mountain.
These towns offer a rich blend of history, culture, and scenic beauty. Each of the old towns has its own unique charm and beauty, and they all left me wanting to come back. If you're wondering which one is the best, I'd say you really have to visit them all!

Lijiang Oldtown Zhongyi Night Market
#nightmarkets
If you're visiting Lijiang Old Town, make sure to check out the Zhongyi Market, their local night market. By day, it's just a parking area, but by night, it transforms into a vibrant night market full of life.
The atmosphere is fantastic, with most stalls selling delicious food and fresh fruits. You can indulge in tasty treats like baked oysters, wild mushroom and chicken dishes, BBQ steak, and even some halal options. Some of Yunnan cuisine has influences from Thai and Vietnamese food, so you'll notice some familiar flavors.
Next to the night market is a fruit and vegetable market. I visited during the summer, which is grape, peach, manggo, and plum season in Yunnan, and the fruit was incredibly fresh and delicious.
Besides fruits, you'll find shops selling Yunnan tea and dried mushrooms. I loved the night market's ambiance—the sellers are friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I enjoyed it so much that I had dinner there twice!

When you come to Lijiang, you must visit the ancient town!
Recommended route for touring Lijiang Ancient Town📖: Big Waterwheel—Wenchang Palace—Dayan Flower Alley—Dashiqiao—Sifang Street—Lion Mountain—Dashiqiao—Zhongyi Market. However, it's not necessary to follow this route strictly. If you want to find lively places, go to Sifang Street, where there are many popular photo spots nearby with great photo effects.
If you want to enjoy a panoramic view of Lijiang Ancient Town, go to Lion Mountain and Wenchang Palace Viewing Platform. It's recommended to go at sunset, as it's not only free but also offers a great visual experience and beautiful photos.
Highly recommended businesses in Lijiang Ancient Town🏠:
Pictures three and four are from Chuangshi Music Live, which has a great environment, excellent atmosphere, impeccable service, and very cost-effective drinks!
Pictures five and six are from Nayanfang Yak Hotpot. The dining environment makes me want to eat another bowl of rice. Outside the window, you can see the blue sky of the ancient town and distant mountains. The beef is tender and the hotpot base is delicious.

Lijiang Ancient Town Homestay | Kuan Shang IAN Boutique Lodging
| Kuan Shang IAN Boutique Lodging. Kuan Shang Room Type: The lady upgraded our room to Yue She
This is the most surprising accommodation I've encountered on this trip, with a wabi-sabi aesthetic that is not like traditional hotels. The wooden textures combined with white allow one to feel a different kind of tranquility in the ancient town. The courtyard is very photogenic, blending the rustic with the modern perfectly. From the welcome fruit desserts to the rich afternoon tea, every detail is particularly well thought out. They contacted us early to confirm our check-in time, and since we were staying next to the Intercontinental, the ladies came with a cart to help us with our luggage because the roads in the ancient town are not easy to walk on.
The bedding, furniture, and even the toiletry bags in the room are all on point. They turned on the humidifier and lit the aromatherapy for us before check-in, and when we returned to the room at night, we found that the turn-down service had been done and snacks were prepared.
The most satisfying aspect for me is that Kuan Shang is the only place we stayed that has a convenient dressing table and mirror for girls, where you can sit down to do your makeup. The other places either only had a large mirror far from the seat or didn't have a dressing table at all. Additionally, they offer to wash and iron five pieces of clothing for you during your stay. I had a white dress that I had been dragging on the ground, and they washed it as good as new.
The lady mentioned that all the food is made in-house, with special handmade Chinese yam popping boba and roasted ginkgo nuts in the tea. The breakfast can be described as stunning; when the accompaniments for the rice noodles were served, I was amazed. It was more abundant than the popular rice noodles I had in the ancient town, and there was also the local specialty fried spare ribs, each dish delicious. The breakfast time is extended to 12 pm, allowing you to enjoy brunch in a super relaxed environment. Overall, I highly recommend this place, you can feel that every staff member

Let's go to the blooming and colorful Yunnan, which is unbelievably beautiful
Lijiang Ancient Town, also known as Dayan Town, is located in the middle of the Ancient Tea Horse Road and has a history of 800 years. It is known as one of China's four great ancient towns, along with Pingyao Ancient Town, Langzhong Ancient Town, and Huizhou Ancient Town.
Geographical location:
The ancient town is situated in the center of the Lijiang Basin, bordered by the Lijiang Dam to the east, the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain to the west, Lugu Lake to the south, and Tiger Leaping Gorge to the north. Taking advantage of the terrain (backed by Lion Mountain, Elephant Mountain, and Golden Rainbow Mountain), it avoids the cold air from the snow mountain and attracts warm winds from the southeast, creating a unique climate environment. Here, it is spring all year round, warm and pleasant, with charming scenery.
Attraction recommendations:
The most famous are the Big Water Wheel and Sifang Street. The Big Water Wheel is a symbolic structure of Lijiang, witnessing the town's centuries-old history. Sifang Street is the central area of the ancient town, which was once an important post on the Ancient Tea Horse Road and a significant place for horse caravan trades. Today's Sifang Street is bustling with restaurants, bars, travel photography, snacks, and a dazzling array of handmade crafts.
North-South route through the ancient town:
Walk the busiest streets of the ancient town and experience the most intense atmosphere of Lijiang.
Along the way, you can check in at the Big Water Wheel, Sifang Street, Kegongfang, Dashiqiao, Yican Well, Baisui Fang, and Sanyanjing.
Route: Yuhu Square at the North Gate of the Ancient Town - East Street - Sifang Street - Dashiqiao - Baisui Fang - July 1st Street - South Gate of the Ancient Town.
📝Tips:
1 The streets within the ancient town are paved with stone slabs, uneven in height, so wear comfortable shoes.
2 The temperature difference between morning and evening in Lijiang is significant, so add clothes to prevent colds in the morning and evening.
3 Lijiang is located on the plateau, with strong ultraviolet rays and dry air, so pay attention to moisturizing and sun protection.

After visiting Lijiang Ancient Town ten times, I've devised a three-day, two-night walking tour itinerary
Lijiang is a city that can heal the soul, with its snow-capped mountains, lakes, and ancient towns crisscrossed by streams and bridges, hiding the fireworks of everyday life. Being here and blending in feels like returning to the origin of the world, to a time long, long ago. That's why Zhao and I have come to Lijiang no less than ten times and still often long to return.
Each time we visit Lijiang, we arrange to stay in the Ancient Town area for a few days and explore the days and nights of the old city on foot.
This time we stayed at the Anyu Hotel in Lijiang Ancient Town, where the simple and tasteful decor allows one to fully immerse in the charm of antiquity, and their afternoon tea and breakfast are particularly rich.
▶️Here's the three-day, two-night off-the-beaten-path itinerary we personally tested, perfect for those staying in the ancient town and accessible entirely on foot:
Day1: After checking into Anyu Hotel in the afternoon, you can first enjoy their afternoon tea, and then in the evening, walk into the ancient town towards Black Dragon Pool Park, which takes about 40 minutes. You will pass through the main street of the entire ancient town, where you can stroll and take photos at leisure. By sunset, you'll reach Black Dragon Pool Park, just in time to see the golden hour over Jade Dragon Snow Mountain...
Day2: After breakfast at the hotel, you can start your day exploring the ancient town. First, head towards Sifang Street, where you can find 'Oil Umbrella Street' (where the entire street is lined with oil-paper umbrellas for beautiful photos). It looks great both in the morning and evening, so you can visit early and return later. Then navigate to Lion Hill or Mu's Residence to overlook Lijiang Ancient Town. In the evening, go to Dayan Huaxiang, which is very dreamy when lit up at night.
Day3: If you can get up early, walk through the ancient town to Black Dragon Pool Park and Qingxi Reservoir to see the sun shining on the golden mountain. In the evening, head towards Zhongyi Market, where the night market is very distinctive at night, offering many authentic delicacies such as grilled bait blocks, grilled milk fans, cactus fruit, chicken bean jelly, and local chicken rice noodles, etc...

7-day trip to Yunnan overturned my worldview
🌄 **Yunnan 7-day trip, a wonderful journey that changes the worldview** 🏞
I went to Yunnan and deeply realized its strong appeal. My itinerary was Kunming-Dali-Lijiang-Shangri-La, here are some important travel tips to share:
1. **Dali:** The ancient city is lively and convenient for food and drink. The entrance to the ancient city and the nearby Erhai Lake are relatively quiet, choose according to personal preference.
2. **Lijiang:** The center of Dayan Ancient City is lively, while the entrance to the ancient city is quiet, choose according to personal preference.
3. **Shangri-La:** You can choose to stay near Dukezong Ancient City, inside or outside the ancient city.
4. **Erhai Lake:** Be sure to check the car condition carefully when renting a car around Erhai Lake, it is best to take pictures for record.
5. **Stone Forest Scenic Area:** It's large, it is recommended to use electric cars to avoid too much walking.
6. **Jade Dragon Snow Mountain:** Prepare medicine in advance to prevent altitude sickness, buy oxygen bottles. Pay attention to oxygen inhalation when taking the cable car, avoid excitement and running to prevent altitude sickness.
7. **Blue Moon Valley:** Be careful that the water contains copper ions and cannot be drunk directly.
8. **Dianchi Lake:** Do not go to see seagulls from April to October, they leave every year from November to March of the following year.
9. **Dali:** Don't just bring light clothes, because it will cool down quickly when it rains, be sure to prepare one or two warm clothes.
10. **Lijiang Ancient City:** Ignore the solicitors at the entrance of the ancient city, the safety and quality of horse riding or chartered cars are not guaranteed.
🚫 **Not recommended:**
- Don't go to the Rose Manor of the Ancient Tea Horse Road, the scenic spot is man-made and not cost-effective.
- Don't go directly to the scenic spot to queue for tickets, it is recommended to make an appointment in advance to avoid the problem of flow restriction.
- Don't carry your luggage around, it is more convenient to store it in a hotel or tourist center in the scenic area.
- Bring an umbrella, because the weather is changeable, it may rain at any time, check the real-time weather.
- Avoid asking people near the station when asking for directions, ask after leaving the station.
✔ **Suggestions:**
- Carry your ID and mobile phone with you to ensure safety. Traveling with important people is a kind of happiness.
- Yunnan's attractions are scattered, it is recommended to book accommodation in stages, choose according to the actual situation.
- My itinerary is to fly directly to Kunming, then take the high-speed train to Dali, Lijiang, Shangri-La, and finally return from Lijiang, avoiding the repeated route.
☑ **Summary:**
My trip to Yunnan made me deeply feel the charm of this land. Whether it is free travel or group travel, it is very important to plan the itinerary in advance. In order to save worry and effort, I chose a small group to ensure a smooth and happy journey. Whether it's scenery, humanities, or history, Yunnan has left a deep impression on m

TranquilDestinations
After returning from Lijiang, I plan to spend the rest of my life opening a guesthouse in Lijiang
Upon my first arrival in Lijiang, the afterglow fills every corner of the ancient city. This small town, known as the 'Venice of the East', is like a flowing scroll. In the alleys, stone paths lead to secluded shops, and every turn seems to tell an old story.
The people of Lijiang are filled with enthusiasm and kindness, welcoming every visitor with the most sincere smiles. And the food here is even more memorable. The fragrant butter tea, the crispy outside and tender inside crossing bridge rice noodles, the rich sour fish soup, each bite is telling the style of Lijiang.
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Like a huge screen, it stands in the northeast of Lijiang. The mountain peaks shine with silver under the sun, like a winding jade dragon. When climbing, although tired, every step is closer to the snow mountain, the feeling of excitement and anticipation is full of motivation. When reaching the top, the sea of clouds is surging, the sky is blue, it feels like being in a fairyland.
Black Dragon Pool Park. The pool water is as green as jade, reflecting the surrounding green trees and mountains. By the pool, people gather in twos and threes, either fishing or chatting, enjoying this tranquility and comfort. Walking on the quaint stone bridge, watching the fish swimming in the water, it seems that time has stopped at this moment.
White Water Pool. The waterfall here is like a galaxy falling from the sky, awakening everyone's soul. The water splashes, the sun refracts, forming a brilliant rainbow, which is amazing. The pool water is clear and the fish can be counted. Leaning in the pavilion, listening to the sound of the waterfall, looking at the beautiful scenery of the White Water Pool, it is refreshing.
The trip to Lijiang, the style of the ancient city, the majesty of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the tranquility of Black Dragon Pool, the agility of White Water Pool, all left us a deep impression. This is a baptism of the soul and a feast for the eyes. The beauty of Lijiang lies not only in its natural scenery and cultural landscape, but also in its unique atmosphere and feeling - the kind that makes people excited, nostalgic, and want to come again.
Goodbye, Lijiang. We set off on our return journey with full of emotion and memory. Lijiang, I will come again! When I come again, I will open a guesthouse at the foot of the Jade Dragon, feed the horses every day, chop wood, and look at the snow mountain!

Don't just go to the ancient city when you come to Lijiang, I highly recommend this niche attraction!
You don't have to squeeze with people here in Lijiang, you can see the sunrise over the Golden Mountain at a close distance, which is located next to the ancient city of Lijiang, the Black Dragon Pool.
Don't miss this place when you come to Lijiang (with a map of the shooting location).
About transportation:
Location: Black Dragon Pool Park, Lijiang
Train: Lijiang Station
Plane: Sanyi Airport
It is recommended to stay near the ancient city of Lijiang, where it is convenient for food, accommodation and transportation!
☑️About the attraction
Black Dragon Pool, also known as Jade Spring Park, is located at the foot of Xiangshan Mountain in the north of the city. It is one of the 4A scenic spots in Lijiang. The history can be traced back to the Qianlong period. You can see a clear and crystal pool of water when you enter, with an area of about 40,000 square meters. The park is beautifully designed with mountains and water, surrounded by beautiful mountains and water, and dotted with classical architecture, which complement each other. The sunrise over the Golden Mountain here is unique!
1⃣️Jietuo Forest
If you go straight from the main entrance, you will reach here first, which is also the position facing the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. I personally like it here the most, the shooting location here will have the most positive sunrise over the Golden Mountain.
2⃣️Suicui Bridge
If you go forward, it is the Suicui Bridge. Among them, I think the most outstanding one is this bridge, which can take a full panoramic view.
3⃣️Wanshou Pavilion
This is also a very good shooting location, where you can sit and wait for the sunrise over the Golden Mountain, but you need to go early, as there are not many places here.
4⃣️Five-hole Bridge
The bridge facing the Jietuo Forest, where you can take close-up shots of the sunrise over the Golden Mountain.
Tips
1. There is an entrance fee here, also known as the ancient city maintenance fee. It is recommended to go in before 7:20 in the morning without an entrance fee.
2. Everyone must pay attention to the sunrise time to avoid missing it. It is still very cold in Lijiang in the morning, so keep warm

Lijiang Ancient City Accommodation | Highly recommended one
It's a bit on the outskirts of the ancient city, close to the ancient city
You can walk to the ancient city, and it's also convenient to take a taxi. The transportation is convenient!
The homestay is a two-story single building with a small courtyard
The lighting is very good and it's also very comfortable to live in~

We stayed in the Sunshine King Room
Honestly, it's the first time I've slept in such a big bed, it's super cool!
The room has two beds, it's also suitable for family travel
The facilities are complete, and you can even watch movies with a projector at night🎬
The key point is that the room has a skylight! When the weather is good, you can lie in bed and watch the stars at night

In Lijiang halfway up the mountain! A scenic homestay where you can stay all day without getting tired!
Chongqing in winter is always rainy, it really is a foggy city!
On vacation, I just want to take my child to a relaxing and not tiring place to bask in the sun🌞, I was so moved when I saw this charming halfway up the mountain·halfway up the city💗, I booked it right away!
I don't want to squeeze into the ancient city, you can see the panoramic view of the ancient city from the room, basking in the sun and dazing here all day, how comfortable~
The homestay is a combination of coffee and lodging, you don't have to spend extra money to go to that kind of scenic coffee shop, there are live singers here every afternoon, and they also serve exquisite afternoon tea for two~
📍Transportation: The location of the homestay is very convenient, it is a three to five minute walk from the big water wheel at the entrance of the ancient town. If you don't want to drag your luggage, you can also take a taxi from the back road, and the housekeeper will pick you up~
The homestay is a three to five minute walk to Sifang Street or Bar Street. It's close to everywhere.
.
🌟Service: The housekeeper is very enthusiastic, and will send precautions after adding WeChat, and will chat with you. As long as you appear in the public area of the homestay, there are staff who will greet you warmly, and the children are also infected, from being shy and not daring to speak to responding warmly to them.
.
🏡Environment: There are Naxi style courtyards everywhere in the ancient city, and I'm a bit aesthetically tired. This homestay is newly opened, it is one of the few wabi-sabi styles in the ancient city, with a separate restaurant. The decoration is also very high-end, the whole house is smart, Kohler bathroom, Dyson hair dryer, mini bar with ten bottles of mineral water and four bottles of drinks, goose down bedding is very warm, everything is of high quality. And it's halfway up the mountain, it's unique in the ancient city🈶There are two or three viewing platforms that can overlook the entire panorama of the ancient city, and the super large courtyard is great for taking pictures.
.
✅I've been to Lijiang Ancient City seven or eight times, this is the most comfortable homestay I've ever stayed in, highly recommended~!

5 Things You Must Know Before Going to Lijiang
5 Things You Must Know Before Going to Lijiang
Lijiang's popularity seems to have declined, but its beautiful scenery remains unchanged. In winter, cherry blossoms bloom in Lijiang, with pink under the snow-capped mountains, blending romance and Bai ethnic style.
1️⃣Transportation tips: Hangzhou flies directly to Lijiang, and the 27 bus from Lijiang Airport goes directly there for 3 yuan. Carpooling costs about 30 yuan per person. You can take the bus to Shuhe Ancient Town and Baisha Ancient Town.
2️⃣Accommodation tips: I prefer to stay in Dayan Ancient Town, immersed in the local Bai ethnic customs, convenient for eating and shopping. You can ask the innkeeper to pick you up when you book. Recommend Yuemutang Boutique Inn, Baihexuan Boutique Inn starting from 200 yuan.
3️⃣Food tips: Lijiang's special mushroom hot pot, smoked ribs hot pot, yak meat hot pot. Snacks recommended are rice noodles, bean powder, bait. The prices in the ancient city are high, you can go to the Zhongyi Market at the city gate, which are all local specialties.
4️⃣Tour tips: Recommended attractions are Dayan Ancient Town, Shuhe Ancient Town, Baisha Ancient Town, Wenhai Village, Lijiang Dajinta, Fuguo Temple, Black Dragon Pool Park
Dayan Ancient Town is the tourist center of Lijiang, a thousand-year-old Bai ethnic town, you can climb Lion Mountain to overlook the panoramic view of the ancient city, and stroll around the snack street and bar street at night.
Shuhe Ancient Town is more niche compared to Dayan Ancient Town, it is said to be the appearance of Dayan Ancient Town more than a decade ago. Free admission. Ticket
Baisha Ancient Town is my favorite ancient town in Lijiang, which has really well preserved Bai ethnic residential buildings, very original. Free admission, take bus 3 and transfer to 6.
Wenhai Village is a new internet-famous spot in Lijiang, located behind the mountain of Baisha Ancient Town, there is no public transportation, you need to charter a car to get there. The residents here are self-sufficient, like a paradise. Free.
Black Dragon Pool Park is my most recommended Lijiang attraction, choose a good weather day to go, the panoramic view of Jade Dragon Mountain is in sight. Free admission for a limited time.
5️⃣Clothing tips: The temperature difference between morning and evening in Lijiang in early spring is particularly large, you need to wear a thick coat. Due to the high altitude and dry climate, there will be certain altitude sickness, you need to do a good job of moisturizing and hydrating, severe cases can buy oxygen tanks for backup.
Finally, I recommend the cherry blossom viewing strategy at the end of winter and early spring, the best position is Wangu Tower in Dayan Ancient City and Snow Mountain Middle Road.

"Ancient residences, small lanes along the canal" are very suitable for Lijiang, a place where the four seasons are like spring.
{Photo Check-in} Wenhai Village
A hidden gem, with the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain when you look up, and cattle and sheep on the grassy slopes when you look down. This place is primitive and simple. This is also the only village where you can see the sunset over the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, with a great view!

The closest village to the foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, composed of two main streets. Looking up, you can see the majestic snow mountain and wooden ancient buildings. Walking on the stone road under your feet

Stay in the quiet courtyard among the flowers in the ancient city
Lijiang Homestay|Stay in the quiet courtyard among the flowers in the ancient city.
The slow life in Lijiang is to find a homestay in the ancient city, and then stay leisurely for a few days, sleep until naturally wake up every day and then walk to the ancient city to eat a special meal. In the alleys outside the ancient city, we found a treasure homestay, a brick and tile courtyard where local characteristics and Naxi culture are combined. At night, sit on the terrace on the third floor, drink a cup of tea, look up at the moon and stars, and spend a few comfortable days.
Lijiang Star House Luxury Resort Inn
No. 130 Wenming Lane, Wuyi Street, Ancient City District, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province
💰300-500 yuan
🚗About 1 hour drive from Dali Railway Station, 5 minutes drive from Xizhou Ancient Town.
Star House. Style
Entering the Star House lobby has a strong Chinese classical style. The boss is a handsome lawyer. Every time he comes back from the outside, he will make tea for us and then chat about some interesting things. I especially like the garden in the atrium on the first floor. Sitting on the recliner and making a cup of tea to enjoy the flowers and watch the fish. The third floor also has a rooftop terrace and a glass house. The small path in the flower room is full of cobblestones, and the two sides are the flowers and succulents planted by the boss himself. During the day, you can overlook the beauty of Lijiang Ancient City, and at night, you can enjoy the stars here
Star House·Room
·This time we stayed in the Memory Honeymoon Suite, and the ancient city scenery is just outside the window. The room is all wooden decorations and furniture, which is very compatible with the style of Lijiang Ancient City, and it is also equipped with smart toilets and high-end bathrooms. The romantic round bed is highly recommended for couples to stay!
Star House. Service
·The homestay adopts a housekeeping service. If you have any questions, you can contact the housekeeper sisters and brothers. Because the roads in the ancient city are all stone roads, it is difficult to drag luggage, and the housekeepers will also come out to help very enthusiastically.
·The homestay also provides pick-up and drop-off services, and you can contact the housekeepers in advance.
