The capital of Romania, Bucharest
The capital of Romania, Bucharest, is located in the southeastern part of Romania, in the middle of the Wallachian Plain, on the banks of the Dâmbovița River, a tributary of the Danube. It is known as the "Little Paris".
Bucharest is an ancient city with a long history, mentioned in historical documents for over 500 years. As early as 1459, during the period of the Romanian Principality, Bucharest was a fortress. In 1477, after the Romanian nation defeated the Turkish invasion, they named the castle on the banks of the Dâmbovița River Bucharest, meaning "City of Joy".
The University of Bucharest is located in the capital of Romania, Bucharest. It is a prestigious comprehensive university in Europe, founded in 1864 by Alexandru Ioan Cuza, the first prince after the unification of the Principalities of Wallachia and Moldavia into Romania. Its predecessor was the Saint Sava Academy. It is now the second oldest modern university in Romania and one of the five members of the University Alliance. Many famous scholars, experts, and politicians in Romania's modern history and contemporary times have graduated from this university.
The square in front of the university, Piața Universității, and the nearby intersection are among the busiest areas in Bucharest. This area is located at the intersection of two main traffic arteries and is surrounded by many landmark buildings.
The Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest, also known as the People's Palace of Romania, is a gigantic building constructed in 1984 during the later period of Ceaușescu's rule as a monument to himself. It is the largest building in Europe by land area, with a total of 3,100 rooms and 12 floors. Standing on the balcony, one can overlook the entire city, which is very impressive. It is a testament to the superb architectural skills of the Romanian people. Today, it serves as the location for the Romanian Parliament's Senate and Chamber of Deputies, the Constitutional Court, and some important institutions.
The Romanian Athenaeum is a magnificent neoclassical building. It is the main concert hall in the city of Bucharest, designed by French architect Albert Galleron and built in 1888. Located diagonally opposite the old Royal Palace of Romania, it features a splendid dome and luxurious decorations, making it a grand and elegant landmark building in Bucharest.

5 THINGS YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT ROMANIA🇷🇴😍
5 THINGS YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT ROMANIA🇷🇴😍
Romania is probably not on everybody‘s bucket list but it should be 😁 There are so many unique places to explore and in today’s post I will share our favorites with you ❤️
🗺️ Places to visit / Things to do:
1.Corvin Castle 🏰 This one looks so unique!
2.-4. Transfagarasan 💚 After driving up a zig zag road you’ll have the most amazing view over green hills and crystal clear lakes ⛰️
5.Peles Castle ❤️Another very unique castle with a beautiful park 🌳
6.Bran Castle 🧛♂️ This is the home of Count Dracula 🩸 🏰
7-9. Sibiu ❤️ This city could be located in Germany and it‘s so much fun to walk around the cute streets.
🚗 How to get around
The easiest way is to take a car because many places can‘t be accessed by public transport.
⏰ Best time to visit
From spring to autumn is probably the most convenient time! We were in Romania in summer and the weather was perfect ☀️
🏨 Where to stay
Hotels are very affordable but you need to search a bit to find dog friendly ones (just activate the „pets allowed“ filter on your preferred booking website / app) 🛏️
🐶 Is Romania dog friendly?
It depends. We had no issues to bring Felix to the sights but restaurants don‘t allow dogs so better be prepared for that. Whenever we visit countries where street animals are, we often get messages like „Aren‘t you afraid they will attack Felix?“ but you don‘t need to be scared! Felix made many street doggy friends over the years and they are usually very submissive and just curious. Sharing a meal with them helps a lot 🍖 Make sure your dog‘s vaccinations are updated to protect him from diseases these animals might have and bring something against fleas.
We hope this guide was helpful and makes it easier for you to plan your trip! Is Romania on your bucket list? 😍🇷🇴 #travelguide #bucketlist #traveltips #bestof #romania #europe

The historical charm of Bucharest is intoxicating. Walking on the old streets, it seems to hear the whispers of the years. Those buildings that have gone through vicissitudes have witnessed the rise and fall of this city. The Palace of Parliament, a magnificent architectural miracle, is breathtaking with its huge scale and exquisite decoration. Its majestic appearance and delicate carvings all show the historical and cultural heritage of Romania. Walking inside, it is like stepping into a palace of art, and the luxurious decoration and solemn atmosphere are awe-inspiring.
The old city is another style. Narrow streets and old houses are full of life. The cafes and shops on the street exude a strong literary atmosphere. Here, you can find a cozy cafe, sit down, taste a cup of fragrant coffee, watch the pedestrians coming and going, and feel the slow pace of life in this city. The ancient churches stand in the center of the old city, and their bells echo in the air, adding a sense of tranquility and sacredness to this city.
The parks in Bucharest are also a highlight. Herastrau Park is an oasis in the city, with shady trees and clear lakes. Here, you can stroll on the path, enjoy the beautiful natural scenery, and breathe fresh air. In spring, the park is full of flowers, and the colorful flowers are like a gorgeous sea of flowers; in summer, the trees are shaded, bringing a coolness to people; in autumn, the golden leaves fall, like a beautiful picture scroll; in winter, the snow is white, and the park has become a silver-wrapped fairy tale world.
The food in Bucharest is also not to be missed. The local traditional food is rich and varied, making people drool. Romanian barbecue is famous for its tender and juicy taste and unique seasoning. The golden and crispy meat pieces exude an attractive aroma. When you take a bite, you will feel full of happiness. In addition, there are various delicious pastries and desserts, such as traditional Romanian cakes, which are delicate in taste, moderate in sweetness, and memorable.

Megalomaniac Bucharest
When you visit Bucharest for first time, it's impossible to do not notice the huge dimensions of all the buildings, boulevards, public spaces, etc. Of course on the top is the People's palace, the second bigest building in the world, than the massive church next to it, the musical fountain and literally everything. If you want to go to the root of this "policy" you can visit the residence of the former communist leader, Nicolae Ceausescu and take a look at the golden bathroom or the golden decorated swimiming pool.

A monumental historic building
The Palace of Parliament is right in the center of the city. Being so historic and monumental, it's not only an icon but a testament to the somewhat dark but important past of the country.
You can visit the interior of the building but book a tour beforehand. The inside of the building is very grand is built of marble. It's surprisingly well kept and shows the whole discrepancy between those at the top and the every day person. Even from the outside it's a beautiful and grand monument that's a beautiful, intriguing and controversial attraction.

Palace of Parliament
How can you come to Bucharest and not see this building. You know which one I’m talking about – the Romanian Parliament or as most know it as the People’s House. This is an all-Romanian piece of engineering and construction effort.
A visit here is a must and leaves one astonished, impressed but also with quite a few questions on whether this was the right undertaking for a country like Romania. In any case, this was a prominent location for our wedding photo shoot (as requested by Hristina).
Definitely a must see attraction when in Bucharest!

Built with 100% Romanian materials to boast the best of the best Romania had to offer during the communist days. Commissioned by the late dictator, Ceausescu, this building reaches a height of 84 metres (276 ft), has a floor area of 365,000 square metres (3,930,000 sq ft) and a volume of 2,550,000 cubic metres (90,000,000 cu ft). The Palace of the Parliament is the heaviest building in the world, weighing about 4,098,500,000 kilograms (9.04 billion pounds; 4.10 million tonnes).
And of course, you might agree or not agree with this building and what it stands for but you must admire the craftmanship and overall result which shouts grandeur. Something to make many Romanians think – if there is will it can be achieved.
