Known as the 'Pearl of the Indian Ocean,' Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka, an independent island nation in the Indian Ocean, is shaped like a teardrop and is also called a tear of God and the 'Pearl of the Indian Ocean.'
Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon, has an economy primarily based on agriculture. Its most important export product is Ceylon tea, and it is also a gem-rich island, ranking among the top five gem-producing countries in the world.
Sri Lanka also boasts endless beaches, timeless ruins, hospitable people, fresh tea gardens, a pleasant climate, and the romance of seaside trains. The mystery of this Buddhist country makes it like a maiden behind a sari, sparking the desire of tourists to explore.
The most recommended tourist attractions in Sri Lanka are:
Lion Rock: Here, you can admire the world-famous Sigiriya 'Heavenly Maidens' frescoes through a spiral staircase and climb to the summit to see the sunset's glow covering the land.
Temple of the Tooth in Kandy: The Kandy Lake reflects the Temple of the Tooth, and the Temple of the Tooth embellishes Kandy Lake, creating the most beautiful scenery in the ancient city of Kandy.
Horton Plains: This is the only national park in Sri Lanka that allows tourists to hike. The 'World's End' cliff and Baker's Falls are the most famous tourist spots here.
British Tea Gardens: Located in the highlands of Nuwara Eliya at an altitude of 2000 meters, it has vast tea gardens and a pleasant climate. The tea produced here is of top quality in color, aroma, taste, and texture, known as the 'Champagne of Tea.'
Stilt Fishing: Fishermen sit on wooden stilts waiting for fish to bite. From a distance, they look like a group of stilt walkers standing in the sea, requiring good balance and enduring both sea winds and sunlight, making it one of the iconic scenes of Sri Lanka.

The Temple of the sacred tooth relic of Buddha in Kandy Sri Lanka
As the sun rose over the misty hills of Kandy, I made my way to the revered Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, a place steeped in history and spirituality. The air was thick with the scent of incense, and the sound of drums echoed through the courtyard, setting a reverent tone for the day.
Entering the temple, I was struck by the intricate wood carvings and the sense of serenity that pervaded the space. Pilgrims, dressed in white, moved slowly, their hands clasped in prayer, as they approached the shrine that houses the sacred tooth of Buddha. The golden canopy glinted in the soft light, a testament to the devotion and craftsmanship that have preserved this relic through the ages.
As I joined the line to offer my respects, I felt a deep connection to the spiritual heritage of Sri Lanka. The energy within the temple was palpable, a mix of awe, devotion, and peace. After paying my respects, I took a moment to sit by the tranquil lake outside, reflecting on the significance of this sacred site.
The visit left me with a profound sense of calm and reverence, a reminder of the rich cultural and spiritual tapestry that defines this beautiful island.#srilanka #travel #asia #srilankatravel #kandy #buddhism #travelguide #localguides #historicallandmarks

The ancient city of Kandy, a millennium-old capital
Kandy is the old capital of Sri Lanka from the 16th century, located a hundred kilometers from the current capital, Colombo. It is the Buddhist center of Sri Lanka🇱🇰.
City Features
Centered around Kandy Lake, it is surrounded by mountains on all sides. The temperature is also cooler than in Colombo. Kandy is world-renowned as a Buddhist holy place because the Temple of the Tooth houses the relic of the tooth of Siddhartha Gautama. An annual festival, the Esala Perahera, features a procession of 100 ornately dressed elephants🐘 on the streets, but only the one selected as the elephant king is privileged to carry the tooth relic tower. Thousands of people take to the streets to celebrate, dancing the Kandy dance.
The Temple of the Tooth was also the palace during the Kandy dynasty, and now it is mainly for visitors. You need to remove your shoes at the ticket office before entering, and every day there are tourists from all over the world and devout followers. They come with floral offerings, and the stupa housing the relic has fixed opening hours. We were there around 7 p.m., and there were so many people that we had to queue to get a close look. This time, my companion took a picture 6, the outside decorated with gems💎
Kandy also has the largest botanical garden in Asia🌳, which was once a royal garden. Many exotic flowers and plants are grown inside, and it's a great spot for photography. We didn't visit this time due to time constraints. The Kandy Lake is really beautiful at dusk~ Walking along the lakeside after dinner is a way to absorb energy

A wonderful time in Kandy, Sri Lanka😍🥰
This is Kandy, Sri Lanka
Had a lovely stay at a brand new hotel The Trees, walked all around the city and lake, visited the Buddhist Temple of the Tooth, and soaked up time at the rooftop pool. Ended the day making new friends from London at Hideout Lounge and riding in my first Tuk Tuk! Beautiful and well maintained park definitely justified the ticket price. Worth a visit account at least 2 hours, could easily bring in some food (or buy some at the park cafe) and spend a whole day.

Journey to Sri Lanka ~ Nuwara Eliya
November 22, Kandy - Nuwara Eliya
Our hotel is halfway up the mountain, about ten minutes walk down from the hotel you can reach Kandy Lake, it is said that Kandy Lake is a huge artificial lake dug from a paddy field, there are many beautiful legends about Kandy Lake, these legends add a lot of mystery to this beautiful lake.
One of my favorite things to do during my trip is to stroll around in the early morning, so today's goal is to go around Kandy Lake counterclockwise, the scenery of Kandy Lake is beautiful, the lake is full of various tropical flowers and trees, crows, monkeys, lizards and other animals can be seen everywhere. The famous Temple of the Tooth is located next to Kandy Lake, Kandy Lake sets off the Temple of the Tooth, and the Temple of the Tooth embellishes Kandy Lake, the two complement each other, perfect harmony, forming the most beautiful landscape of Kandy ancient city. There are so many people on the shore of Kandy Lake in the morning, there are students with school bags, newlyweds taking wedding photos, hurried travelers and leisurely tourists like us.
Today's itinerary: Kandy University, Mountain Tea Garden, Pink Post Office
First stop: Kandy University
Kandy University has no walls, it is completely open, even the railway passes through the middle of the campus. Walking in the campus, the ancient trees are towering, the buildings are elegant, the youthful students passing by, all give people a beautiful enjoyment. What attracts us most is a huge thousand-year-old banyan tree, with twisted roots and winding branches, it is spectacular, we took many photos around it, of course, no matter how we take photos, we can't capture its full view, we have been marveling at the magic of this tree all the way, wondering how many years it has been growing to be like this? How many meters does it root to be so strong, to support its huge trunk? Trees are really amazing. Continue to stroll around casually, like this campus like a botanical garden, sitting in an open-air theater similar to Roman style, enjoying the fun of being a student.
Second stop: Nuwara Eliya Mountain Tea Garden
The misty mountain tea garden DAMRO TEA, known as the first tea garden in Sri Lanka, is planted with tea on the rolling hills. The visit to the tea garden is free, the staff of the tea factory will take you to visit the tea making process and give a detailed explanation, our guide can actually speak Chinese, although the tone is a bit like singing, but the pronunciation is clear, we all understand. After visiting the factory and returning to the hall, we found a table near the window and started to slowly taste the authentic free Ceylon black tea. The perfect dessert cake to go with the black tea is chargeable, of course, the price is not expensive.
Third stop: Pink Post Office
The Pink Post Office, built in 1894, has a clock tower on the roof. Because the exterior wall of the building is made of red bricks, plus the white mud between the bricks, it looks pink from a distance, so it is called the Pink Post Office. Now the post office is newly painted, in addition to the function of the post office itself, it has become a popular tourist spot in Sri Lanka, a place where many tourists to Sri Lanka check in.
Nuwara Eliya is a very flavorful British town, there are still many British buildings preserved here, unfortunately, it has been raining when we arrived, we did not have time to stroll around this town.
Stay at Fir Hotel in the evening, a British-style hotel located near the mountain tea garden, the yard is very beautiful, like it.

Trip to Sri Lanka ~ Kandy
November 21, Sigiriya-Kandy
Last night's heavy rain prevented us from going out, and we had our dinner in the hotel. We waited for about an hour before the food was served. I quite like this slow pace, it seems that we haven't slowed down to enjoy the present for a long time. Here, you can temporarily escape from the fast-paced life, slow down, see the scenery you have never seen before, and experience the local customs you have never experienced before.
The next morning, after the rain, the air was particularly fresh. We strolled around the hotel and unexpectedly saw wild peacocks. Such unexpected encounters during the trip are also very happy......
Today's itinerary: The Buddha Temple, the most central landmark of Ceylon, the Tooth Relic Temple, and Kandy City
First stop: The Buddha Temple, the most central landmark of Ceylon
Naranda, 20 kilometers south of Dambulla, is a very interesting place because there is a Buddha temple that is known as the most central landmark of Ceylon. It was surprising that we knew this was the center point more than 1,000 years ago without aerial photography and accurate maps, even though the location is said to be slightly off. The special thing about this Buddha temple is that it is a Hindu-style building but used as a Buddhist temple.
Because of its remote location, there are almost no tourists here, it is very quiet, it is equivalent to a private tour, it feels very good. The leader said that he also discovered this place by a very accidental chance.
Second stop: Tooth Relic Temple
The Tooth Relic Temple is the most famous Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka. It is located on the bank of Kandy Lake and was built in 1595. It is famous for enshrining the tooth relics of Sakyamuni, the national treasure of Sri Lanka. The main entrance is at the west gate, surrounded by a protective river. The temple is built on a platform about 6 meters high, divided into two floors, with complex structures, mainly including the Buddha Hall, Drum Hall, Long Hall, Chanting Hall, Treasure House, Inner Hall, etc. The most important building is the central hall, the ceiling of the hall is full of murals and gold ornaments. The Buddha's tooth is enshrined in the inner hall on the second floor, which is the core of the temple. The dark room on the left of the hall is the place to place the Buddha's tooth. There is a seven-story gold tower in the dark room, and there are seven small gold towers in the gold tower, one covering one. Of course, we only saw the pictures, the real Buddha's tooth is invisible.
In fact, the temple itself is not very beautiful from the perspective of viewing, but for the locals, this is their pilgrimage site, and for tourists like me, it is one of the must-visit places.
When going to the Tooth Relic Temple, you must dress decently, all those who enter the temple must take off their shoes, but you can wear socks to enter, be prepared for the hot weather, the floor tiles in the temple are very hot by the sun.
Third stop: Kandy City
Because it was still early, the leader asked us if we wanted to stroll around Kandy City, and we all agreed. Kandy City is not big, it is estimated that it can be finished in 1-2 hours. If you are tired, you can find a juice shop on the street, and then have a cup of super pure fresh juice, so satisfied......
Stay at Kandy hills in the evening, the hotel is located halfway up the mountain, the scenery is unique, about a ten-minute walk to Kandy Lake.

Ride through the tea plantations on a small alpine train
There are many train lines in Sri Lanka, covering many places on the island, and it is an indispensable means of transportation. The sea train from Galle to Colombo and the high mountain tea plantation train from Nuwara Eliya to Ella are two railway lines in the whole country, comparable to fairy tales scene in the story.
The section of the mountain train scenery is from Nuwara Eliya to ELLA, about 3.5 hours. Nuwara Eliya is surrounded by tea mountains, and the small train slowly shuttles between the rainforest and tea plantations at an altitude of 1,800 meters, which is simply a realistic version of the Wizard of Oz. You can choose the seat on the right side. The rainforest is shrouded in mist as if you are in the clouds. You can also see the tea pickers picking tea in the vast tea garden, and the fragrance of Ceylon black tea blows your face.
pink post office
With a history of 123 years, the pink post office is located in the center of Nuwara Eliya town. It is an internet celebrity attraction full of girls' hearts. Girls must not forget to come here to punch in the concave shape after visiting the tea garden, full of British style. The pink brick wall is like a fairytale house. "The land of the soul that must go to life, the city that is felt by the faith"
Go to Sri Lanka, definitely go to Kandy to visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic.
Buddha Temple is a famous Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka. It is located on the shore of Kandy Lake. It was built in 1595 and is famous for offering the tooth relic of Sri Lankan national treasure Sakyamuni. It is a place of pilgrimage for Buddhists.
In order to commemorate the Buddha's tooth being placed in the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, the grand Buddha tooth festival is held here every July and August. People hold torches, drums, dances, and hundreds of elephants dressed in festive costumes to participate in the grand ceremony. The parade is very lively.
The exterior of the temple is not gorgeous, but the interior is very particular. I stood at the entrance of the magnificent corridor and stood for a long time, shocked by the sight in front of me. The believers walked in the temple, they held the lotus, the sincere and solemn worship, the face was filled with a bright smile, so harmonious and happy.
Walk in this city surrounded by faith, strangers smile at you, feel that everything is calm, as if washed, this may be the power of faith.
Location: Sri Dalada Veediya

I also used my hands together to stand in front of the sacred Buddha, full of fear, and hope that I would be happy!
Standing in the rainy Buddha Temple, watching the Buddha full of hope, my heart is uneasy, the ground is cold, the sky drops a few drops of rain from time to time, the air is filled with the smell of incense burning, the ear is the theft of tourists Whisper. Suddenly there was a drum sound in front of me. I know that this is the drumming point for the Buddha, the solemn and exotic drums, and the time is urgent. When the golden door opens, you can see the golden splendor in the room. And I can't wait for the body to be physically fit. With the gentle music, as the crowd visits the entire temple, I admire the various carved Buddha statues and ornaments, and also lament the power of faith!
On the small street in front of the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, there are flowers for worshipping Buddhas, lotus flowers of various colors, lilies, rose, etc. The price is not very expensive, you can bring a few to enter the temple!
Tickets: Foreign tourists: 1000 rupees for adults, children free, photo will be charged an additional 300 rupees

Barefoot walking on the smooth staircase of the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. Sri Lanka is a distant story from the ocean. It opens the ancient story of a mysterious kingdom. The devout little Lankan girl holds the lotus in the sun and smiles. To the flash of light in her eyes, the people sitting on the stairs, silently clasped their hands together, the ancient Qur'an gave their souls peace, and on the ruins of King Guranka, I walked through the mottled sunshine without worry.
