An Amazing Trip to Tianshan Grand Canyon and Heavenly Lake in Urumqi

My first trip to Xinjiang, and today I visited the Tianshan Grand Canyon and Heavenly Lake. To be honest, I used to think of Urumqi as a very chaotic and backward place. Many of my friends in Taiwan questioned why I would want to travel to such a backward place as Xinjiang. But you really have to experience it yourself to understand the beauty of Xinjiang! Traveling thousands of miles is better than reading thousands of books! It's truly worth visiting! 📍Address: Tianshan, Xinjiang 🏖️Atmosphere/Facilities: Absolutely fantastic

The lake is located an hr outside the city. we missed a bus at 8:30am from peoples park which take you directly to the site. In the end managed to get a didi/taxi to the site. At the car park you get out and head for a police registration for all foreigners. This took about 20 minutes. in the end they give you a piece of paper which says you buy tickets. The ticket line was short and it’s 150rmb entrance. the first shuttle take ls you to an area of restaurants. The food is cheap and there is lots of options. From there you take another shuttle bus. then there is a short walk to the lake. There is a 5k walk around the lake and you can take a boats across also. A great site to visit.

East Small Tianchi Walk along the asphalt road on the left side of Tianchi. When you see two roads, take the left walkway through the dense forest.
