Bangkok - The City That Never Sleeps in Asia
Bangkok, a city full of vitality and color, attracts tourists from all over the world with its unique culture, cuisine, and warm-hearted people. This trip has always been my dream, and when I set foot on this land, my heart was filled with anticipation and excitement. In this travelogue, I will share my journey in Bangkok, including every detail I experienced.
My journey began with an early morning flight, and the plane landed at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in the bright morning sunlight. As soon as I got off the plane, I felt the warmth of Bangkok. The airport's design is modern and spacious, and the immigration procedures were quite swift. After collecting my luggage, I took the airport express to the hotel I had booked.
I chose a hotel located in the city center, making it convenient for me to explore the city. The hotel staff were very friendly and provided me with local travel suggestions and maps, which made me look forward to the upcoming itinerary.
After dropping off my luggage, I couldn't wait to taste the local cuisine. I found a small food stall on a nearby street and ordered Pad Thai and Tom Yum Goong soup. The Pad Thai was delicious, with fresh shrimp and peanuts, making me an instant fan. The sour and spicy taste of Tom Yum Goong soup made me appreciate the unique charm of Thai cuisine.
The next morning, I decided to visit one of Bangkok's most famous attractions - the Grand Palace. The architectural style here is magnificent, and the golden temples and palaces left me in awe. Walking into the Grand Palace felt like traveling back to the prosperous era of ancient Thailand. The Emerald Buddha in Wat Phra Kaew, in particular, was serene and sacred, filling me with reverence.
Next, I went to the Chao Phraya River and took a long-tail boat to tour the river. As the boat glided over the water, I could see the life scenes on both sides, from ancient temples to modern skyscrapers, forming a strong contrast. After getting off the boat, I rested in a riverside park, enjoying the breeze and feeling at peace.
On the third day, I decided to explore Bangkok's famous floating market. Early in the morning, I took public transportation to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. The small boats here were filled with various goods, from fresh fruits to handicrafts, dazzling my eyes. I bought some local tropical fruits, and their sweet taste intoxicated me.
After returning to the city center, I went to the famous shopping mall - Siam Paragon. Here, not only are there exclusive stores of international brands, but also many unique Thai products. I specifically chose some handicrafts as souvenirs and tasted more Thai delicacies in the mall's food court.
In the evening, I went to the famous Chatuchak Night Market. This place is a hotspot for locals and tourists, with dazzling lights, various food stalls, and handicraft stalls. I tasted Thai spring rolls and coconut rice, and the flavors were amazing.
After the night market, my friends and I went to a famous bar to enjoy the night view of Bangkok. The bar is located on the top floor of a high-rise building, overlooking the city's lights, making me feel the prosperity and charm of Bangkok.
On the fifth day of the trip, I decided to relax and experience an authentic Thai massage. I chose a local massage shop, and the professional masseur made me feel comfortable, releasing the tension in my muscles.
In the afternoon, I visited a traditional weaving village to learn about the local handicraft culture. The villagers enthusiastically introduced their skills and demonstrated how to weave fabrics using traditional methods. This experience gave me a deeper understanding of Thai culture.
On the last day in Bangkok, I decided to visit some attractions I hadn't been to yet. I went to Wat Pho, where the Reclining Buddha has a golden appearance that left a deep impression on me. Then, I visited Wat Arun, and its unique architectural style amazed me.
After a wonderful trip, I prepared to return home with many memories and souvenirs. On the plane, I recalled the moments of the past few days, feeling grateful. Every corner of Bangkok, every kind of food, and every friendly local made me feel the unique charm of this city.
This trip to Bangkok not only allowed me to taste delicious food and enjoy beautiful scenery but also gave me an in-depth understanding of Thai culture and people. I look forward to returning to this vibrant city in the future to explore more unknown corners. Thank you, Bangkok!

Today, we will introduce a beautiful and sacred temple, one of the famous temples in Bangkok. It is easily accessible by taking the MRT or subway to the National Museum Station and then walking for another 2-3 minutes to reach the temple. Inside the temple, there are famous architectural structures such as the Reclining Buddha. However, in this post, we will take you to see the marble stupa and the principal Buddha image in the meditation posture, which is magnificent and worthy of reverence. Additionally, there is the Buddha image in the Naga Prok posture, which is suitable for those born on Saturday. We highly recommend visiting this temple. Nearby, there are Wat Phra Kaew and the City Pillar Shrine, which are must-visit places when traveling to Bangkok.

Exploring Thai History and Spirituality
Wat Pho is one of the largest and oldest temple complexes in Bangkok. At its center stands a massive reclining Buddha statue, spanning up to 46 meters and adorned with exquisite gold leaf. Beyond this iconic feature, Wat Pho's charm lies in its stunning architectural marvels and intricate decorations.
The moment we stepped inside, we were captivated by the traditional Thai paintings adorning the walls, each telling its own story. The interior's shimmering gold created a warm and reverent atmosphere. We loved exploring the serene grounds and hearing the sacred bells gently ringing in the breeze. 【Bangkok Wat Pho】Explore the tranquility and solemnity of Thailand’s oldest temple
#temple# 100 ways to travel
Bangkok, a city with countless gorgeous temples, is full of strong religious atmosphere and historical charm. Wat Pho, as one of the oldest and largest temples in Thailand, is undoubtedly one of the must-see attractions for tourists in Bangkok.
#### Temple Overview and History
Wat Pho is located in the center of Bangkok, just across the street from the famous Grand Palace. Built during the Ayutthaya Dynasty in the 16th century, this temple is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Bangkok. The full name of Wat Pho is "Wat Phra Chetuphon Vimolmangklararm Rajwaramahaviharn". It is one of the earliest public education centers in Thailand and is especially famous for traditional Thai massage and medicine.
#### The spectacular reclining Buddha statue
When I walked into Wat Pho, the first thing that caught my eye was the landmark building of this temple - the huge reclining Buddha statue in the main hall. This reclining Buddha statue is 46 meters long and 15 meters high. It is the largest reclining Buddha statue in Thailand. The body of the reclining Buddha is covered with gold foil, which makes it look solemn and solemn. The soles of the feet of the Buddha statue are carved with 108 patterns symbolizing Buddhist auspiciousness, which are delicate and full of meaning.
Stand quietly in front of the Buddha statue and feel the silent peace and tranquility, as if your soul is being purified. I gently walked around the Buddha statue and noticed the surrounding murals. These murals depicting Buddhist stories are brightly colored and rich in details. They are a concrete display of the history and culture of this temple.
#### Four large pagodas and other buildings
There are also four large colorful pagodas in the courtyard of Wat Pho, symbolizing the achievements of Rama I to Rama IV respectively. These pagodas are decorated with intricate tiles and mosaics, and the details of each pagoda are stunning. The four pagodas tower into the sky, symbolizing the profound heritage of Thai Buddhist culture.
In addition to the reclining Buddha statue and the large stupa, there are many small shrines and statues in the temple dedicated to different Buddhist gods. The courtyards and cloisters here are also full of peaceful atmosphere. Both local believers and foreign tourists can find a pure land of soul here.
#### Traditional Thai Massage
Wat Pho is also famous for its traditional Thai massage school. This is one of the birthplaces of traditional Thai medicine and massage, and it still provides professional massage services. Visitors can experience authentic Thai massage here and enjoy a complete relaxation and relief. I also specially arranged a massage experience during my trip. The professional technicians used clever techniques to relieve my fatigue and make me feel relaxed both physically and mentally.
#### Tips
- **Opening Hours**: Wat Pho is open every day. It is recommended to go in the morning or afternoon to avoid the high temperature at noon.
- **Clothing requirements**: You must dress modestly when entering the temple and avoid sleeveless, shorts and other clothing. Free shawls are provided at the entrance of the temple.
- **Note on taking photos**: You can take photos in the temple, but you need to be respectful, especially in front of the Buddha statues, you should avoid making loud noises or disrespectful behavior.
- **Massage Experience**: If you are interested in experiencing Thai massage, it is recommended to make an appointment in advance to avoid long waiting time.
#### Summarize
Wat Pho in Bangkok attracts countless believers and tourists with its spectacular reclining Buddha statue, historic buildings and strong religious atmosphere. This temple is not only a symbol of Buddhist culture, but also a place where people can relax their minds and find peace. If you have the opportunity to come to Bangkok, be sure not to miss Wat Pho. [Thailand/Bangkok] Wat Pho, famous for its reclining Buddha
In Bangkok, Thailand, where there are many temples, Wat Pho is famous for its reclining Buddha.
It is said to be an ancient royal temple that King Rama I ordered to be built so that monks could study the law, and it is said that Thai massage originated here, so you can receive the Thai massage that you receive every day at this temple.
It is said that you can throw away your worldly desires by putting 108 coins into each of the 108 bowls lined up in a row. You can do this by purchasing 108 old coins that are no longer in use for 20 baht (about 80 yen).
If you go to Wat Pho, be sure to try it.
It is located about a 4-minute walk from Sanam Chai Station on the MRT, and the entrance fee is 300 baht (about 1,200 yen).
When I visited in May 2024, it didn't seem particularly crowded, so I was able to walk around at a leisurely pace.

N things you need to know before going to the Reclining Buddha Temple in Bangkok
Among the famous attractions in Bangkok, I personally think the most beautiful and best to shoot is the Reclining Buddha Temple, with fewer tourists than the Grand Palace next door and much larger than the Zheng Wang Temple opposite.
🛕About the Reclining Buddha Temple (Wat Pho)
The Reclining Buddha Temple, built in 1793 during the Ayutthaya Dynasty, is the largest and oldest temple in Bangkok, with the world's largest reclining Buddha.
The 1986 Journey to the West is said to have been filmed at the Reclining Buddha Temple.
The Reclining Buddha Temple is the birthplace of Thai massage.
🛕Photography tips
The Reclining Buddha Temple is divided into the main hall area and the pagoda area. There are nearly a hundred large and small pagodas in the pagoda area, filled with colorful tiles and gold foil. The most spectacular are the four large pagodas. The pagoda area is super beautiful for photography. If there are many people in front of the pagoda, you can go around to the back, very few tourists.
Compared to Zheng Wang Temple, you can hardly see any girls in Thai costumes in the Reclining Buddha Temple. I met two Southeast Asian beauties who came to take pictures, which was simply stunning.
🛕Tour tips
The Reclining Buddha Temple is next to the Grand Palace, about a 12-minute walk, and can be visited together.
The Tah Tian pier opposite the Reclining Buddha Temple is the ferry to Zheng Wang Temple, 5 baht one way. The large pier opposite the Grand Palace is N9-Tha Chang, with a 30 baht double-decker sightseeing boat and the Orange flag line to Zheng Wang Temple.
The restaurant in the alley opposite the Reclining Buddha Temple is the best place to shoot Zheng Wang Temple, and there is also a small pier for long-tail boats to go to Zheng Wang Temple on the opposite bank.
It is recommended to wear double socks, as you need to take off your shoes to enter the main hall and the golden hall of the Reclining Buddha Temple.
🛕Basic information
Address: 2 Sanam Chai Rd, Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200
Opening hours: 8:00-18:30
Ticket price: 300 baht (price increase? Buy tickets at the entrance, cash required)

Wat Pho
Again with the Bangkok temples.
Wat Pho is known for being home to The Reclining Buddha but actually this area is huge, it took me a good hour of wandering around to reach the Buddha area. (It’s actually right beside the entrance!)
Entrance costs 200baht - special area for foreigners to enter into.
Explore the various colours and styles of pagodas and temple buildings around Wat Pho.
I entered around 1pm, it wasn’t particularly busy, the reclining Buddha area was very busy though, expect to wait for a chance to snap photos.

#timetotravel
We came here for its reclining Buddha but to my surprise this place is more than that. It is like a box filled with many surprises. However, if you don't have enough time on your itineraty the reclining Buddha alone is worth thr visit. The size and thr golden color of it is just magnificent and a sight you truly want to remember. Tourists must remove their shoes then must walk clockwise around the Buddha. The entire place of Wat Pho is very impressive especially the details of the architecture of each temple. You will surely enjoy your visit here. I highly recommend to come here in the morning when there are not a lot of tourists yet. Basically be the first tourists to enter there because it could get crowded and it is hard to take photos.
