Wu Hufan (1900—1977), a master of Chinese flower and bird painting, was a leading figure in modern Zhejiang-style Chinese painting. Wu Hufan was skilled in freehand flower and bird painting, occasionally creating landscapes and figures, and was known for his extraordinary style.
The Wu Hufan Memorial Hall, which opened in 1994, is one of the first 15 member museums of the 'Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Masters Memorial Hall Alliance'. It is located at the eastern foot of Ta Mountain Park in Pujiang County, Zhejiang Province, with an elegant environment and simple style.
The memorial hall covers an area of 2,995 square meters with a building area of 1,775 square meters. It houses the main exhibition hall, secondary exhibition hall, collection array hall, and academic activity room. The memorial hall has a collection of 84 fine Chinese paintings donated by Wu Hufan's family and more than 120 congratulatory works from Wu Hufan's friends and disciples during his lifetime. It also displays Wu Hufan's personal items such as stationery, seals, manuscripts, books, and daily utensils. Photography is prohibited in the exhibition room.
The memorial hall is open to the public all year round, frequently hosting various calligraphy and painting exhibitions and exchange activities. It is an important cultural window and a base for patriotic education in Pujiang.
