Exploring Yellowstone National Park:Geysers, Wildlife, and a Stay at Old Faithful Inn
#nationalparks #100waysoftravel #yellowstonenationalpark #oldfaithful #bison #bison #travelusa #geyser
My visit to Yellowstone National Park with parents was an unforgettable experience, filled with awe-inspiring natural wonders. We chose to stay at the historic Old Faithful Inn, as we were concerned about the possibility of bears wandering nearby at night. The inn offered both comfort and a front-row seat to the famous Old Faithful geyser, which erupts with impressive precision. Yellowstone is known for its incredible geothermal features, and we marveled at the vibrant Grand Prismatic Spring, the bubbling mud pots, and the otherworldly Norris Geyser Basin. Wildlife is abundant, and we were able to spot bison roaming the park, but knowing how dangerous they can be, we wisely observed them from a safe distance inside our car with the windows tightly closed. While the geysers are the park’s main attraction, Yellowstone also offers stunning waterfalls, dramatic canyons like the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and beautiful hiking trails that showcase the diverse landscape. Overall, it’s a place where nature’s raw power and beauty are on full display.

Yellowstone National Park was one of the most incredible places I’ve ever visited! The park’s diverse landscapes, from geysers to canyons, make it feel like you’re on another planet. Entry was $35 per vehicle, which is valid for 7 days—definitely worth it considering the vast amount of things to see.
I spent my first day exploring the iconic Old Faithful geyser, which erupts like clockwork. The Grand Prismatic Spring was another highlight, with its vibrant rainbow colors standing out against the surrounding landscape. Hiking through the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone was breathtaking, and the views of Lower Falls were unforgettable. There’s also an abundance of wildlife, including bison, elk, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot a bear! Yellowstone is truly a nature lover's dream. 🌋🌲🐻

The mysterious 'Eye of the Earth' in the United States is so beautiful that it's almost intimidating to look at directly
Yellowstone National Park was established in 1872 and is one of the oldest and most famous national parks. Spanning the borders of Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, it covers an area of about 8,983 square kilometers. It boasts one of the world's largest forests, with the park's forests accounting for about 90% of the total forest area in the United States, and water bodies about 10%. The park features crystal-clear lakes, majestic canyons, boundless prairies, and powerful waterfalls. Among them, Yellowstone Lake is one of the largest high-altitude lakes in North America, and the Yellowstone Volcano is the largest and most active supervolcano in North America. It erupts approximately every 400,000 years, and it has been 390,000 years since the last eruption. In addition, there is a vast number of precious wildlife species.

The water fluctuations of the large prisms - Yellowstone Scenery 3 (below)
Stopped on the path of the "Great Prism". For a long time, this is the largest hot spring in the United States with a diameter of about 100 meters and a water temperature of 85 °C. And the world's third-largest hot spring, watching it flood the ground to 2 tons of huge water per minute; these hot springs flow and paved a steaming, misty fairyland, known as the "Earth The most beautiful surface".
In the absolutely original region of "Great Prism", everyone who comes here will see different paintings at different times and at different angles, seeing all the magic and all kinds of impossible .
Perhaps because of a minor earthquake yesterday;
perhaps because of the impact of the groundwater level;
perhaps because the geothermal heat of the basin is again sprayed a lot;
where the water surface of the large prism occurs every day Change, every day shows magic.
When I was on the trail when the morning mist had not yet dispersed, as the thin clouds covered the sun, the clouds opened the sunrise, until the blue sky and white clouds left, the steam, light and shadow, ripples of the large prism spring surface were intertwined. Together, there is an epic and fascinating ecological picture.
Although the closer to the Grand Prism Hot Spring, the more you can't see the full picture of the standard, but the closer the distance, the water wave under the front of the foot is at your fingertips, it seems to be able to appreciate the heat around it, it seems to be able to hear It is gentle and mysterious. I chose this "immersive" with an unparalleled feeling.
captured happiness.

Yellowstone National Park is a true natural wonder! The geothermal features, especially Old Faithful, are fascinating, and the vivid colors of the Grand Prismatic Spring are like nothing I've ever seen. The wildlife is abundant—spotting bison, elk, and even a bear was thrilling.
The park offers a great mix of easy walks and more challenging hikes, all with stunning views. The rangers were friendly and full of interesting facts about the park’s history and ecosystem. Yellowstone is a must-visit for anyone who loves nature and adventure.
I can't wait to go back!Yes,I will come here again.I am sure about that.

Yellowstone Park | God's palette.
🎈A must-visit in the US, Yellowstone National Park! You must have a name to check in! The colorful Grand Prismatic Spring in the park is really beautiful✨
🌈Because the colors of the Grand Prismatic Spring are rich and varied, it is like a huge palette🎨, and it is like a mysterious spring in the ocean, so it is vividly called "Sea Spring"🌊
💞Travel tips:
[One] When exploring the park by car, you can park your car in the Grand Prismatic Spring parking lot and walk a few minutes along a sidewalk to reach it
[Two] The Grand Prismatic Spring is the largest and deepest hot spring in the entire Yellowstone Park, which is deeper than a 10-story building. The extremely hot water flows out of the earth's cracks 121 feet to the surface of the spring water, so it is necessary to watch from a distance
[Three] The Grand Prismatic Spring is not a spectacular isolated natural landscape. There are three other smaller landscapes nearby, namely the Turquoise Pool, the Opal Pool and the Excelsior Geyser Crater, which can be visited together
[Three] The Grand Prismatic Spring and other small landscapes are connected by convenient pedestrian paths in the parking lot. You can walk to enjoy all the color differences along the way and the changes in light filtered from the ground steam. It takes about 1h to walk, and of course the time also depends on how many photos you want to take~
[Four] Please note that tourists are prohibited from leaving the official road, do not run or push, and families with children should always take care of their babies~

Thought about visiting the first and best national park in the United States? Here are some useful tips for Yellowstone National Park!
🏔️ Most Unique Landscapes: worth checking out the great prismatic hike (2 hours hike), morning glory hike (15 min hike), and lower fall of the yellowstone (15 min hike) - these are some of the easiest hike with amazing views!
🏨 Best place to stay: would highly recommend staying in the Old Faithful Inn if budget allows (around 500 USD/night) as the lodging is located right by the old faithful geyser that erupts every 90 min - staying on site give you access to the best of the park while skipping the line to enter the national park!
🦬 Best place to spot wildlife: the Lamar Valley, close to the Northeast Entrance of the National Park is the best place for wildlife spotting! Some suggestions for a 5-day trip to Yellowstone Park
Yellowstone Park 4 nights 5 days 5.28-6.1
Choose to rent a car from Salt Lake City and go through Grand Teton National Park to enter Yellowstone Park. This route takes a total of 8 hours, with good scenery along the way. You can stop at Bear Lake to enjoy the view, and stop at the town of Jackson for a meal. The return trip takes the highway, which is a 6-hour journey.
Stay inside the park for all 4 nights, which makes it very convenient to visit. We stayed two nights each in the northern and southern parts of the park, covering the entire main 'figure 8' sightseeing route of the park. I especially recommend the Yellowstone Lake Hotel. If you get a lake-facing room, you might find deer grazing not far from your window. However, this hotel does not provide Wi-Fi, so you will be temporarily disconnected from the world. The altitude is 2390 meters, so you might feel a bit of altitude sickness.
During this season, keep a down jacket in the car. You might be applying sunscreen at one spot and encounter snow at the next. We had an experience where we underestimated the heat and then had to return to the hotel to put on more clothes.
The entire trip took us through prairies, canyons, rivers, basins, and snow-capped mountains. We saw hundreds of hot springs and encountered bison, deer, antelope, and bears, experiencing the charm of the world's first national park.
Sharing the route map and a few of my favorite photos.
EmberElemental_123
Yellowstone/Lake Area
The 'o' at the bottom of the figure 8 in Yellowstone Park represents the lake area.
Midway Geyser Basin, Old Faithful, West Thumb, and Lake Village are all located here.
J has been to Yellowstone and Jiuzhaigou before, and when I asked him 'Is the scenery the same?' he said it's pretty similar.
I have been to Jiuzhaigou before and really liked it; I think it's a place worth revisiting for the scenery. It's also nice to see those views again in Yellowstone.
Although both are places where it seems God has spilled his palette, Yellowstone and Jiuzhaigou have many differences. Yellowstone is more natural and primitive, with bison, ducks, foxes, goats, and bears often strolling nearby, sometimes leisurely walking on the road, while cars wait quietly, creating a very harmonious scene.
It would definitely look great taken with a DSLR camera, but now I'm very reluctant to carry something so heavy during travel. Photos taken with a mobile phone are also beautiful, but they don't compare to seeing it with your own eyes.
Many sceneries, once visited, seen, and remembered, that's enough.

Scenic Beauty Atop the Volcano: Yellowstone National Park, USA
🎬 Those who have seen the movie '2012' know that Yellowstone National Park in the United States is one of the world's largest active volcanoes, with the entire national park situated on this volcanic caldera. If this volcano were to erupt, it might truly be like the end of the world as depicted in the movie.
🌋 No one knows when the volcano will erupt, but the national park on top of this volcano is really worth visiting.
🏞️ The attractions in Yellowstone National Park are distributed like the figure 8. Therefore, the tour routes are generally divided into the Upper Loop and Lower Loop.
✅ Upper Loop:
Mammoth Hot Springs
One of the iconic attractions of Yellowstone National Park, featuring travertine terraces that are quite distinctive, reminiscent of Turkey's Pamukkale.
Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone
The namesake of Yellowstone National Park, the falls are stunning during the high water season, with yellow rock formations on both sides of the canyon, hence the name Yellowstone.
✅ Lower Loop:
Old Faithful
The geyser erupts at regular intervals every day, like a punctual and honest person, which is why it's called Old Faithful. However, sometimes there can be slight variations in timing.
Grand Prismatic Spring
The most representative attraction of Yellowstone National Park, like a prism refracting a rainbow. The view from ground level is average, but you can walk up the hill behind it for the most beautiful view.
Yellowstone Lake
The lake water is very clear and vast. But the entire lake is actually the center of the volcanic caldera, so the water has a high sulfur content, and you should definitely not drink it.
These are just a few of the more famous attractions in Yellowstone National Park. There are many more large and small attractions scattered throughout the park, so give yourself some extra days to slowly take it all in.
⚠️ Important Notes:
1⃣️ Yellowstone National Park is very large, and most areas inside have no cell phone signal.
2⃣️ There are many wild animals in the park, so while protecting the animals, also pay attention to personal safety.
3⃣️ Many boardwalks do not have railings, so be careful where you step.
4⃣️ The calcified ground near hot springs and geysers may be a thin shell with nothing underneath, so do not go down.
5⃣️ There are not many restaurants inside (there is one near Old Faithful), so prepare food in advance.

ALEXA ROBBINS
Review of 20+ National Parks in the United States|Complete Ranking Guide
I've been in the US for 10 years and have visited more than 20 national parks, big and small. Let me rank them based on my preference. I've roughly divided them into 4 tiers:
Tier1: Must-visit.
Tier2: Worth a special trip.
Tier3: Worth a detour for a check-in.
Tier4: I don't know why it's considered a national park..
Now let's get to the point:
🟠Tier 1:
🔹Yellow Stone + Grand Teton: They stand out for their diverse landscapes and wildlife, and are the face of US national parks. I've camped twice in Yellowstone and Grand Teton respectively, and the campsite locations are pretty good, with beautiful lakeside views and well-equipped facilities. Highly recommended.
🔹Glacier: A national park that gave me a big surprise. I was attracted by a picture of a colorful stone lake on Instagram and decided to go. I found out that the color of the stones was all post-production, but the stunning scenery exceeded my expectations. The spectacular canyons, snow-covered peaks, rivers formed by melting snow, and the lush forest below form a landscape that is no less than Switzerland. Highline Trail is probably my favorite so far.
🔹Grand Canyon: I still remember the shock I felt the first time I went there. Although I had heard about the grandeur of the Grand Canyon, seeing is believing. The sudden silence when you walk to the edge of the canyon brings a tremor to your soul. I personally think the South Rim is more beautiful than the West Rim, and the glass bridge is not that interesting. I want to try the Rim to Rim trail next time.
🟠Tier 2:
🔹Olympic: The diversity of landscapes and scenery is comparable to Yellowstone, with valleys, lakes, oceans, and rainforests. The scenery is not bad, but the weather was not very good when I went, it was cloudy and sunny, which affected the experience to some extent. But I guess it's the changeable weather that creates different landscape features.
🔹Yosemite: Another famous national park, but I went during the dry season, without the feeling of a fairyland. However, the white granite stones are very beautiful, it should be better with water.
🔹Zion: It should be the most fun among the several parks in Utah. I went up the narrows and climbed the angles landing. The inconvenience is that you have to take a shuttle to get in, which reduces some efficiency. Angels landing requires a draw, which adds some uncertainty to the trip.
🔹Arches: I went to the delicate arches trail, there is no shelter throughout the journey, Utah in summer is like hell, I suggest not to try in summer, but the scenery is very unique, it's worth the bumps on the road.

Check in at Teton County Fishing Bridge
📍I flew from SD to SLC and then drove overnight with friends to West Yellowstone and started playing early the next morning
📍Day 1 Upper 8, depart from West Yellowstone every day--> Gibbon Falls (small waterfall hike 20 minutes) --> Norris Geyser Basin (various hot springs 1hr)--> Mammoth (recommend to take pictures in the morning without backlighting, need to climb a lot of roads 1.5 hr)v--> Lamer Valley (watch wildlife, Bison and elk)
📍Day 2 Canyon Village (has vistor center and general store, place to eat 20 minutes to buy anniversary)--> Brink of lower Falls (and the following 5 attractions are similar to see the waterfall hike 1 hr)--> Lookout point (20 min)--> Brink of upper Falls --> Artist point --> Hayden Valley (beautiful sunset)--> Mud Volcano (mud volcano 20-30 min) --> Yellowstone lake
📍Day 3 Lower 8, there are many and dense attractions, it is recommended to leave more time Fountain Paint Pot Trail (various colors of hot spring ~1hr) --> Grand Prism, look below and hike for about two hours, hike about 40 min round trip --> Old Faithful (Old Faithful, it is recommended to go to vc to see what time it erupts, if there is an hour and a half, you can go to morning Glory, if the time is short, you can go to the independent anniversary shop to turn around --> Morning Glory (😭😭Because I didn't know that I had to hike in Old Faithful, I didn't have time to go) --> west Thumb --> Stay in Grand Teton
📍Day4 Walk around in Grand Teton in the morning. The difference between GT and Yellowstone is that he doesn't have many attractions to check in. If you have time, you can go horse riding. It is more suitable to go there and stay for a day to see the scenery and vacation. In the afternoon, I went to Jackson to take pictures of antlers and eat. There is a Bakery called Persephone Bakery which is quite delicious. I started to drive to SLC at about 4 o'clock to catch the 9 o'clock flight in the evening. The scenery along the way through Montana, Wyoming, Utah is really different, all the way through the green mountains and rivers, driving for several hours without feeling tired, just received speeding tickets from two states🥹 🥹

West Thumb Geyser Basin
🌟Highlights:
West Thumb Geyser Basin: Located on the edge of Yellowstone Lake, it was formed due to the collapse of the earth's crust 150,000 years ago. Under the combination of hot springs and lake water, a wonderful spectacle of smoke appears: the smoke is the steam of the hot springs, the green waves are the water of Yellowstone, and they are reflected with the blue sky and white clouds in the background, forming a different landscape from other hot spring areas in Yellowstone. This place is equivalent to the bay of Yellowstone Lake. Many geysers gather here. The colors of the water outlets are diverse. Some are transparent green, and some are dark black like cement. Numerous water outlets present a beautiful fantasy.

Grand Prismatic Spring→The beautiful surface of the earth~God's overturned palette
Located in Yellowstone Park, the Grand Prismatic Spring is the largest hot spring in the United States and the third largest in the world, with a width of 75-91 meters and a depth of 49 meters, and it gushes out about 2000 liters of 71-degree hot water every minute. In 1871, it was discovered by geologists and named Grand Prismatic for its striking colors. It is named 'the most beautiful surface of the earth'. Walking along the wooden plank road built in the park towards the Grand Prismatic Spring, it seems to have left the earth and entered another planet.
It is formed by the Firehole River, which is formed by countless hot springs gushing out.
Under the sunlight, a large area around the Grand Prismatic with wrinkles on the ground emits magical reflections. It's incredible! The bright blue-green-yellow-orange-brown forms a strange and deep big eye on the surface of the earth, making you unable to move your eyes.
✅Two ways to open the Grand Prismatic Spring
Close view
There is a pedestrian wooden plank road around the Grand Prismatic Spring, which takes about 40 minutes to walk around. Come and see the local part of the Grand Prismatic Spring. It is not only the hot spring pool that is beautiful, but the surroundings are really too magical, like a big eye, with long eyelashes. Once again, it is simply outer space, there is such a magical place on earth!
Walking near the close-view plank road of the Grand Prismatic Spring, you can clearly see the texture it leaves on the surface of the earth. It looks beautiful from a distance, and there is a sense of vicissitudes and mystery when you look close.
In the Grand Prismatic Spring pool, it is in the mist, with a strong smell of sulfur, which makes me remember this place with smell. It feels like being in a palette, with all kinds of colors. If I hadn't come in person, I wouldn't dare to imagine the surface of the earth so boldly.
Distant view
To find this viewing platform, you need to continue south from the Grand Prismatic viewpoint for 1-2 miles, there is a Fairy Fall Trail sign on the right, enter a not too large parking lot to park, and then follow the Trail all the way forward for about 10 minutes, until there is a small fork in the road, the left is the viewing platform of the Grand Prismatic, I remember the sign says overview, the right road continues to run Fairy Fall Trail, after turning left, about another 10 minutes walk, the whole journey is about 1.6 miles.
Sunny day strategy☀
The best visiting season is from to every year, try to avoid going on cloudy days with a lot of water vapor. When I went, the weather was too good, I saw the most beautiful look of the Grand Prismatic as I wished, almost cloudless, the blue sky made the Grand Prismatic Spring bluer and clearer.

Spend a night at Yellowstone National Park
Why would you go to a natural hot spring when you have a hot tub at home?🛁
Because hot springs are actually natural wonders, not just mineral-rich waters that have accumulated in pools or been channeled into man-made spas. Grand Prismatic Spring is the biggest hot spring in the United States and the third largest in the world. The center of the spring is sterile due to extreme heat about 188.6 degrees Fahrenheit, resulting in a deep blue color, surrounded by rings of color ranging from green to red, which is caused by bacteria that flourish in the warm, mineral-rich waters.
🏊♀️Despite the fact that swimming is prohibited for obvious reasons, this is one of the most photogenic thermal phenomena on the planet.
