Rushan travel guide and discussion

The most surprising encounter in Weihai is the Rushan Fishbone Sandbar. It is the ocean's most romantic, fleeting gift—appearing at low tide and vanishing at high tide. It doesn't try too hard or make a scene; it's reserved only for those willing to wait. A fishbone-shaped white sandbar lies in the middle of the azure sea, gently dividing the ocean into two shades of blue. On one side, it's shallow and crystal clear; on the other, deep and vast. The wind makes the sea surface shimmer. Walking barefoot on the soft, fine sand, with waves gently lapping over your ankles, you feel like you're walking into the horizon where the sea meets the sky, surrounded by mountains and ocean. Unlike trendy, crowded beaches, this place is quiet and healing. No crowds, just the sound of the wind, the waves, and a sense of freedom. Standing in the middle of the sandbar, I was truly speechless at the breathtaking beauty of nature. The most beautiful scenery always requires patience; be sure to check the tide times in advance. Don't rush, don't be impatient. Walk slowly, look quietly—this is the unique, soul-healing tenderness of the mountains and sea in Rushan. It turns out that the world's most extreme beauty is all a fleeting tenderness. ⚠️ Travel tips: Be sure to check the tide table in advance! The sandbar will be submerged when the tide rises, so don't stay too long. It is recommended to wear water shoes, as reefs and shells can easily scratch your feet. Come during low tide on a sunny day for the clearest water, and you can also go beachcombing for shells to experience the unique, romantic surprises of the ocean.

I recently visited a spot for beef brisket & offal pot and skewers. Right at the entrance, you'll see staff grilling oysters, along with two large hanging ovens for on-site skewers. The open kitchen prepares the signature beef brisket and offal pots—the mix of aromas is absolutely mouth-watering! Hanging Oven Skewers Fresh ingredients are skewered and grilled to order. The hanging oven method ensures the heat is perfectly controlled. The Angus beef skewers, paired with over ten types of seasonal fruits, offer a rich meaty flavor with a refreshing fruity twist. Don't miss the grilled pearl abalone, organic corn, "Better Together" chicken wings, grilled snowflake scallops, and the "Heart-Tugging" tripe skewers. The charcoal aroma is incredible—simply delicious. Grilled Oysters These large Rushan oysters are massive, plump, and juicy, bursting with garlic flavor in every bite. Beef Brisket & Offal Pot Crafted with an "intangible cultural heritage" artisan spirit and slow-simmered for 3 hours. The Shacha broth is rich, the brisket is melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the offal has a perfect snap. Fried bean curd skin, tofu puffs, and crab roe noodles are the ultimate companions, soaking up all that flavorful broth. Plus, if you favorite and check in at the shop, you can enjoy over 10 side dishes and claypot porridge for free with unlimited refills! Cold Cucumber / Celery with Bean Curd Skin / Roasted Chili Century Egg The appetizers are refreshing, tangy, and spicy—the perfect way to start the meal. I took a trip to Shinan, Qingdao in October, and looking back at my photos, I still feel how incredibly comfortable those days were. The weather was 15–25°C, with a cool sea breeze that wasn't biting. The midday sun felt warm, and a light jacket was just right for the mornings and evenings. No summer stickiness, no peak-season crowds; the whole city felt like it had been set to slow motion. Staying at the InterContinental Qingdao was incredibly convenient. A short walk downstairs brings you to the Olympic Sailing Center. My sea-view room faced Fushan Bay directly; I was woken up by the light reflecting off the sea in the morning, and at night, when the lights came on, I just dragged my chair to the window to zone out. The best part about staying here is that you don't have to rush after watching the sunset—you can just stroll back to your room. It feels like the entire Shinan coastline has been laid out just for you. The Pinxiangyuan buffet was the most unexpected surprise of the trip. I expected standard hotel fare, but I was stunned when I walked in on Saturday night: all-you-can-eat roasted durian. I kept going back for more; the roasted flesh was sweet and sticky, without the pungent punch of raw durian. Hairy crabs were piled high at the seafood station, bursting with roe, and juice ran down my fingers when I cracked them open. Rushan oysters were also all-you-can-eat—not huge, but incredibly fresh. After a while, the server brought over a small, hot bowl of braised sea cucumber with minced meat, which was savory and very comforting. The best part was staying in my seat at 7:30 PM when the Fushan Bay light show began right on cue outside the window. The buildings turned into a massive canvas of light and shadow. Before I’d even finished swallowing the crab roe, the show had already started. We ate for nearly two hours and were so full that we had to walk along the coast for half an hour afterward to recover. The next morning, I crossed the sea specifically to visit Houmi Bagel. The shop is over by Golden Sand Beach, and while making a trip to Huangdao just for a bagel might sound crazy, seeing the chubby shop cat lounging at the door made it all worth it. The tuna bagel sandwich was stuffed to the brim, and the bagel itself was toasted to be chewy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a subtle wheat aroma. Paired with a pineapple elderflower soda, I sat outside and finished it slowly while the cat crouched at my feet, watching me expectantly. If you don't want to travel that far, Xiaomujia Korean BBQ on Zhangzhou 2nd Road in Shinan is a good alternative for Korean food. The area around Shanghang Road has a high density of Korean restaurants, and you're unlikely to go wrong with any of them. If you want a drink in the evening, there's an interesting Korean BBQ bistro on Yan'an 3rd Road in Shinan with a nautical-themed decor and a live singer on stage. The original-cut meat sizzles on the charcoal grill, and the cocktails are visually stunning—a perfect pairing for the BBQ. Alternatively, head toward Nanjing Road, where the Korean bartender at Jiujie Western Restaurant & Music Bar can improvise based on your taste. After 9:00 PM, it switches to bar mode, and the DJ can really get the atmosphere going. Nightlife in Qingdao doesn't need to be forced; once the sea breeze hits, the rhythm of a light buzz comes naturally. The best things to do in Shinan in October actually don't cost a dime. Walk to the end of the Lover's Dam at the Olympic Sailing Center, where the sunset dyes the sea a warm orange, and the silhouettes of sailboats overlap with the city skyline. Standing there, you don't need to say anything—just watch. The wooden boardwalk leading to the sea at Yandao Park is especially pristine in autumn. Waves crash against the rocks, kicking up white foam, and when the evening light softens, it feels like walking into a painting that hasn't quite dried. If you happen to catch a windy day, you can take a boat from the Olympic Sailing Center to see the Yandao Autumn Tide—the flying spray and the deafening sound of the waves are a unique temperament of October. By late October, seagulls start returning to the Zhanqiao Pier area, and the sycamores and ginkgo trees in Taipingjiao and Badaguan slowly begin to change color. Even just a casual stroll along the coastal path is enough to fill your phone's photo album. My biggest takeaway from this trip is that you don't need to rush in Qingdao in October. Stay comfortably, eat well, and find any spot by the sea to stop—it's all scenery. That sea-view bed at the InterContinental, that plate of roasted durian at Pinxiangyuan, the cat at Houmi that wouldn't leave, and that orange sea at the Olympic Sailing Center in the evening—all together, they make for a weekend that needs no filter.

Wang Fugui Seafood Hotpot. A friend said this place has been popular lately, so we grabbed a number. I was a bit surprised when I walked in—a seafood counter over 20 meters long, with large abalone, oysters, and crabs. You just grab whatever you want to eat; it's a pretty fun experience. 🦪 Rushan Oysters I grabbed a few palm-sized ones; the size was amazing. After poaching them, you don't even need dipping sauce. One bite and they're as smooth and tender as jelly, with a very fresh and sweet juice. 🦀 Crab with Full Roe I grabbed two that were quite meaty. Breaking open the shell, it was full of orange-red crab roe underneath. It tasted as dense and creamy as salted egg yolk, and the crab meat was firm too. 🐂 Freshly Sliced Ribeye The meat looked quite red with clear marbling. Just blanch it until it changes color and take it out; the meat is springy and has a hint of beef fat aroma. However, some parts were sliced a bit thick and can get tough if cooked too long, so you have to watch the time. 🦐 Live Large Abalone They were still moving in the water. After cooking, they were chewy and full of resilience, with the natural sweetness of seafood. We chose the mushroom and sukiyaki soup bases. The overall vibe is like a large food stall, and the place is spacious~ It's open until 5:00 AM, so night owls looking for a late-night snack can check it out.

An afternoon spent cruising along the Rushan coast on a scooter, with the salty scent of the sea in the breeze~🛵💨 Along the Thousand-Mile Mountain and Sea scenic drive, I stumbled upon a beautifully designed viewing platform💙 The blue ring acts like a mirror, reflecting the green mountain shadows and shallow waters, as if framing the soul of the entire coastline into a badge. Behind it, the sky is a clear, honest blue, with wispy clouds brushing by so low that I felt I could reach out and grab one to use as a kite tail☁️🪁 Walking onto the beach, the sand after low tide looks like a giant, open palm print, with winding streams guiding the sky's light toward the distant tree line and building silhouettes🌊 The sea surface glitters like crushed silver, and people appear as tiny black dots, bending down in the wet sand and shallow water to search for the riddles left behind by the ocean🐚 The mountain shadows, windmills, and high-rises on the opposite shore sit quietly in the soft light, as if time itself has been set to slow motion⏳ Suddenly, the vibrant colors of an amusement park pop up beside the path🎡 The giant yellow duck sitting on the boardwalk is just adorable! The Ferris wheel turns the blue sky into a slow-motion scene, while the boat-shaped rides seem to drift along with the clouds⛵️ Here, childhood innocence and the sea breeze don't clash; they simply nod to each other in greeting~ One last glance: clouds writing poetry high above, sunlight pouring through the gaps, with the beach, stone paths, and distant islands all bathed in a soft, glowing light✨ The sea at Rushan isn't loud, yet it quietly gathers the mountains, the ocean, the paths, the kites, the amusement park, and the sound of the tides into that gentle blue-green expanse💙💚 📍Yintan Ocean Park: 320 meters west of the intersection of Changjiang Road and Taihu Road, south side of the road 📍Weihai Rushan Yintan Beach: South side of the intersection of Changjiang Road and Taihu Road (Open all year round, 24/7) 📍Yintan Coastal Tourist Resort: No. 868 Changjiang Road, Rushan City, Weihai

Weihai 3-day, 2-night budget travel guide | Encounter romantic mountains and seas, travel affordably without falling into traps🌊 Weihai is a small city that has carved the blue-and-white romance of the ocean into its long coastline. Far from the hustle and bustle of over-commercialization, the mountains and sea embrace each other. The environment is clean and refreshing, featuring both atmospheric Japanese-style streets and vast, magnificent coastal scenery, making it perfect for a short, low-cost getaway. This guide focuses on saving money and peace of mind, hitting niche scenic spots, and avoiding travel traps. Students, families, and budget travelers can just follow along. I. Transportation | Cost-effective travel options Long-distance travel 1. High-speed rail: Prioritize Weihai Station, which is located in the city center, making it convenient to get to various scenic spots. Weihai North Station is closer to the sea; choose this if you want to head straight to the beach. There are many routes from surrounding cities, making it a very cost-effective way to travel. 2. Flight options: Weihai Dashuibo Airport has limited flights. Friends from other cities can fly to Yantai or Qingdao and then transfer to a one-hour high-speed train to reach Weihai, which is often more budget-friendly. Local transportation✨ You must rent an electric scooter to tour Weihai! The entire coastal road is smooth and well-paved. Renting one costs 50 yuan per day, allowing you to stop whenever you want without worrying about traffic jams. Riding slowly while enjoying the sea view is an incredibly fulfilling experience. For longer distances, you can take buses or ride-hailing services. It is not recommended to take taxis for the entire trip, as the costs can add up. II. Where to stay | Budget accommodation guide 1. Staying in the city center is highly recommended: There are many affordable homestays and chain hotels near Torch 8th Street and the International Bathing Beach. You can reach the beach in a few minutes, and it is very convenient for visiting night markets and watching the sunset. Prices range from 80–150 yuan per night. 2. For short trips, staying in Rongcheng or Rushan is not recommended: They are far from Weihai city center, and traveling back and forth will consume a lot of your sightseeing time. For short trips, prioritize staying in the city center. III. 3-day simplified itinerary | No backtracking, easily explore all of Weihai Day 1: City coastal healing route | Mostly free, take atmospheric photos easily Route: Weihai Park → Yuehai Park → Torch 8th Street → International Bathing Beach (watch the sunset) 1. Weihai Park: A landmark check-in spot in Weihai, open to the public for free! You must take a photo with the viral seaside giant picture frame sculpture. With the blue sea and sky as the background, the atmosphere is perfect. Walking along the seaside wooden boardwalk is very healing. 2. Yuehai Park: A quiet and cozy treasure of a seaside park. The white lighthouse and the lush green seaside lawn make for great photos. There are few tourists, so it is quiet and suitable for taking pictures and relaxing, avoiding the crowded tourist hotspots. 3. Torch 8th Street: A Japanese-style manga road that is popular on all major platforms🌿. The road stretches straight toward the sea, and the scattered blue-and-white houses are exceptionally beautiful. Try to arrive before 7:00 AM to easily capture clean, crowd-free shots. It is free to visit all day. 4. International Bathing Beach: A super popular free beach in Weihai with a 2,800-meter-long coastline. The sand is fine and soft, and the seawater is clear and bright. In the evening, sit and wait for the "orange sea" sunset; the scenery is healing and stunning. The surrounding area is full of affordable seafood stalls and local snacks. Tips to avoid traps: During holidays, it is packed with tourists, and the beach is crowded in the afternoon, which greatly diminishes the experience. Some viral snacks on the roadside are overpriced, so be careful when spending. Day 2: Coastal scenery and cultural route | Experience both magnificent mountain-sea views and historical depth Route: Maotou Mountain Coastal Road → Liugong Island 1. Maotou Mountain: A free coastal treasure! Viewing Platform No. 3 is the best place to check in. Nestled between mountains and the sea, the view is vast and boundless, with a beautiful scroll of mountains and seas unfolding before your eyes. Riding an electric scooter along the coastal road with the sea breeze on your face is very pleasant. There are no entrance fees or hidden costs. 2. Liugong Island (5A-level scenic spot): A significant cultural landmark in Weihai, known as the "unsinkable warship"⚓. This is the birthplace of the Beiyang Fleet and the main battlefield of the First Sino-Japanese War, with a long and profound history. Remember to book your tickets one day in advance. You might encounter flocks of seagulls on the boat ride to the island. The Sino-Japanese War Museum on the island is worth a detailed visit. The distances between various attractions are long, so it is recommended to take the island shuttle bus to save effort and time. Tips to avoid traps: The ferry times to the island are fixed, so do not miss the last boat back. Private guides on the island are expensive; there is no need to follow the trend and book one. It is great to explore on your own. Day 3: Rongcheng fairy-tale coastal route | Fewer people, beautiful scenery, encounter a dreamy coastline Route: Motianling Cableway → Chengshantou → Jinshiwan Art Park 1. Motianling Cableway: Highly recommend the colorful cable cars on the north line. The cable car flies over the blue sea, as if traveling through a mountain and sea manga. The view is incredibly wide, and it is perfect for taking photos. 2. Chengshantou: Known as "China's Cape of Good Hope," it is located at the easternmost end of the Shandong Peninsula and is the first place on the Chinese mainland to welcome the sunrise over the sea. Legend has it that Qin Shi Huang toured here twice. The mountains and sea are magnificent, and the atmosphere is full of character. 3. Jinshiwan Art Park: A fairy-tale secret hidden by the sea🏡. The red reefs and the deep blue sea complement each other, and the seaside cottages are incredibly healing. The ticket price is affordable, and the light is soft in the afternoon, making it the best time for photos. IV. Local affordable food | Frequently visited by locals, avoid tourist trap prices 1. Fresh seafood: Weihai seafood is affordable and high-quality. Recommended dishes include steamed scallops, spicy stir-fried clams, and salt and pepper mantis shrimp. Try to avoid viral restaurants in scenic areas; food stalls in residential areas of the city offer better value. 2. Authentic local snacks: Chewy and delicious Weihai fish cakes, thick and textured Rongcheng cold seaweed, and mackerel dumplings with thin skins and large fillings. The fish is fresh and tender without any fishy smell. You must try these when you come to Weihai. 3. Food traps: Do not buy seafood from mobile vendors by the sea, as it is easy to get short-changed. There is no need to blindly order expensive seafood sets; order as needed to avoid waste. V. Essential travel checklist + full set of tips to avoid traps Essential items The UV intensity at the seaside is high, so be sure to bring complete sun protection, including sunglasses, beach shoes, and a sun/rain umbrella. Bring some stomach medicine. If you plan to go clamming, you can bring your own small tools; do not buy them on-site at high prices. Core tips to avoid traps 1. The vast majority of Weihai's stunning coastal scenery is free. Do not trust roadside solicitors offering paid guided tours or exclusive photo spots. 2. Do not take unlicensed taxis on the coastal road that demand exorbitant prices. The prices are inflated; prioritize electric scooters and public transportation. 3. During holidays, viral scenic spots are crowded. Try to get up early to avoid peak times, and the experience will be much better. 4. Before buying seafood or eating at food stalls, be sure to ask about the unit price and weighing method in advance to avoid hidden costs.

Only one day off this week, but the autumn weather is crisp and clear🍂, so I felt like taking a walk in the mountains~ A quick search led me to this hidden gem of a waterfall! Located in Yantai, 86 km from home—time to hit the road!💨 The navigation was spot on📍 I love taking national and provincial highways when driving, passing through village after village🏘️ With few cars and traffic lights, and winding mountain roads, watching the villagers busy with the autumn harvest along the way made me feel inexplicably relaxed and happy~🌾 The rocky mountain scenery is absolutely stunning! While the waterfall isn't massive, it’s wonderfully serene and natural. The layered rocks paired with the flowing water make every photo look like a professional shot📸 The air in the valley is so fresh—I feel completely rejuvenated~ The beautiful scenery was definitely worth the trip! However, since my family is still recovering their strength, it’s a slight pity we couldn't make it to the summit~ We’ve already planned to return when the autumn colors are at their peak; we have to climb to the top to see the even better views!🎋 📍Pinglan Waterfall (Rushan, Weihai, Shandong Province) Take advantage of the crisp autumn season this weekend to go out and experience the breath of nature!

Rushan | Dujia Island Village | When the sea meets the houses, it's the beginning of romance: A one-day trip guide A Jiaodong island fishing village surrounded by the sea on three sides, formerly known as Xian Island. In 1976, a causeway was built, so you can reach the island without a boat. The island is covered with old stone fishing houses, winding bluestone alleys, and continuous reefs along the coastline. The sea breeze carries the scent of the catch. It is quiet and uncrowded. It is a one-stop destination for sea views, exploring ancient villages, beachcombing, and street photography, making it a niche, healing island in Rushan. 📍Navigation: Dujia Island Village, Haiyangsuo Town, Rushan City, Weihai 🎫Admission: Free ⏰Open all day 🕒One-day itinerary timeline 08. 30 Arrive at Dujia Island, breakfast Have breakfast in Haiyangsuo Town before entering the island. We recommend fisherman-style fried dough sticks, corn porridge, and seaweed buns. Drive across the causeway; on both sides are offshore aquaculture areas with vast oyster rafts, creating a perfect atmosphere. 09. 30 Stroll through the ancient stone village alleys (core experience) Walk into the village to see stone houses with distinct Jiaodong characteristics, stone walls, wooden windows, and small courtyards. Fishing nets hang from the eaves, and dried fish are laid out to dry. Wander slowly through the bluestone alleys, visit the former residence of Song Xuanwen, and experience the island's cultural history. It is not overly commercialized. You can see the daily lives of local residents everywhere, full of simple island charm. 11. 00 Light hike on Xian Island Mountain, panoramic view from the top The island's highest point, Xian Island Mountain, is 128.6 meters above sea level, making for an easy, short hike. Reach the summit to overlook the entire Dujia Island village, the bay, and the panoramic view of Mount Daru in the distance. The sea and sky merge into one—perfect for photos. You can also find remnants of old coastal defense fortifications. 12. 30 Fisherman-style lunch Local fisherman-style restaurants in the village, featuring freshly caught seafood. ✅Recommendations: Rushan oysters, clams, sea crabs, mixed fish pot stickers, and seaweed buns. Fresh and authentic, these are must-try island flavors. 14. 00 East Coast Reef Beach | Beachcombing + coastal street photography Come to the shore according to the tide times. You can go beachcombing in the reef area to find sea snails, small crabs, and clams. ⚠️Be sure to check the tide table in advance and go during low tide. The reefs are sharp, so take precautions. Visit Tiger Cliff and Dragon Horn Rock. Waves crashing against the reefs, sea-eroded cliff landscapes, seaside reefs + fishing boats—perfect for a film-like atmosphere. 15. 30 Slow drive/walk along the island loop road Drive or walk along the 9 km island loop road, with the sea on one side and the village on the other. You can stop to watch the moored fishing boats and offshore aquaculture rafts, or just enjoy the sea breeze and clear your mind. 17:00 Wait for the sunset by the sea On the south coast of the island, the setting sun spills over the sea. The orange sunset, with the stone houses and the sea in the same frame, is the romantic moment of "when the sea meets the houses" as the saying goes. Head back after capturing the sunset. 📸Recommended photo spots Causeway: Offshore fishing rafts on both sides, road leading straight to the island Stone village alleys: Stone courtyard walls, old wooden doors, drying fishing nets, Jiaodong fishing village culture Xian Island Mountain summit viewing platform: Panoramic aerial view of the whole village and the sea East Coast Reef Beach, Tiger Cliff: Waves, reefs, fishing boats Seaside sunset spot, stone houses paired with the sunset over the sea 👔Outfit: Light colors, denim, simple and casual. It is windy by the sea, so bring a light jacket. Bring non-slip water shoes for beachcombing. 🚗Transportation guide ✅Self-driving is the best option: About 40 minutes from downtown Rushan; 20 minutes from Yintan. There are free parking spaces in the village. Be careful when passing other vehicles on the causeway. 🚌Public transport: Take bus 319 from Haiyangsuo Town, Rushan, directly to Dujia Island. There are few departures, so self-driving is recommended for a one-day trip. ⚠️Travel tips The village is still a residential fishing village. Please ask for permission before taking photos of residents, and do not intrude into private courtyards. Safety is paramount when beachcombing! The reefs are sharp, so wear gloves and non-slip shoes. Leave immediately when the tide comes in; do not linger for seafood. The UV rays are strong by the sea and the wind is strong, so be prepared with sunscreen and a hat. Be careful of slipping in the reef area. Protect the marine environment, take your trash with you, and do not trample on the aquaculture areas. Tides are key to your visit; be sure to check the daily tide times before you set off. ✍️Social media caption options Dujia Island, Rushan: When the sea meets the houses, it's the beginning of romance. The entrance from the Cuitiwan Road intersection, the place is called Liangxin Oysters (Pfft, "Liangxin" [conscience]—yeah right, what a joke, ugh~). Avoid at all costs, it was terrible. The meat was all mushy and shriveled. I took one bite and immediately spit it out. I checked, and all 10 of them were like that. Since I got it to go, I could only contact the merchant through WeChat Pay. The merchant gave this response (Image 2), claiming they were Rushan oysters. I'm speechless... No wonder when I was waiting for my order, two women came out after eating with such helpless expressions on their faces. Absolute trash, avoid, avoid, avoid.

CNY 10, rotating observation deck for a panoramic view of the "red-tiled roofs and green trees") → Evening visit to Taidong Pedestrian Street to explore and dine. · Coastal Architecture Route (Day 2): Badaguan (beautiful light and shadows before 7:00 AM, Huashi Building CNY 8.5) → No. 2 Bathing Beach (fine, soft sand) → Xiaoyushan Park (free but requires reservation) → May Fourth Square/Olympic Sailing Center for the night light show. · Mount Lao (Day 3): The Yangkou route is recommended, featuring both mountains and sea, with cable cars available. Peak season tickets are about CNY 90 (includes sightseeing bus) and require real-name reservation in advance via the "Laoshan Scenic Area" WeChat official account. You can eat Laoshan mushroom stewed chicken at the foot of the mountain. 🍜 Must-eat food Spicy stir-fried clams (the soul dish, pairs well with fresh draft beer), mackerel dumplings (Chuange Fish Dumplings are famous), and grilled squid (approx. CNY 10/skewer at Taidong Night Market). For beer houses, head to the area near Yingkou Road Market, which is popular with locals. 💡 Tip: Qingdao Railway Station is the best choice for high-speed rail (Zhanqiao Pier is right outside). For accommodation, choose the Shinan District or near Zhanqiao Pier for convenient access to the sea on foot. · -- 🌊 Weihai: Glass-clear sea so clean you'll want to "lie flat" Weihai is less crowded and more affordable than Qingdao, making it perfect for a slow-paced 2–3 day stay. 🏞️ Must-visit recommendations · Coastal Cycling (Day 1): Renting an e-bike (CNY 40–70/day) offers the most freedom. Head to Torch 8th Street ("Weihai's Little Kamakura") in the early morning → International Bathing Beach (free) → Coastal Road to Maotou Mountain No. 2 Observation Deck → Sunset at Jinhaiwan Pier in the evening to see the "orange sea" sunset. · Island Culture (Day 2): Take a boat to Liugong Island. Tickets + round-trip ferry cost CNY 122/person (includes the Sino-Japanese War Museum); reserve in advance via the official account. In the afternoon, explore the free coastal line of Weihai Park → Yuehai Park → Haishang Park. The swings under the lighthouse at Yuehai Park are great for photos. · Rongcheng Coast (Day 3): Naxianghai Diamond Beach (free) → Bluewis Shipwreck (a grounded giant ship, very cinematic) → If you have time, visit Jiming Island (ferry ticket approx. CNY 80). 🍜 Must-eat food Rushan oysters (plump and creamy like pudding), mackerel dumplings (as big as a palm), and sea worm rice. For Korean food, go to Hanlefang; the Chuncheon stir-fried chicken with cheese is delicious. 💡 Tip: Take the high-speed rail to Weihai Station or Weihai North Station. Attractions in the Rongcheng direction are far away, so self-driving or chartering a car is recommended. The roads are hilly and complex; if riding an e-bike, ensure one person per bike and wear a helmet. · -- ⛵ Yantai: Fairyland coast and jelly-like sea islands Yantai's attractions are spread out; you can spend two days exploring the city center and Penglai separately. 🏞️ Must-visit recommendations · City Old Town Route: Yantai Mountain Scenic Area (climb the lighthouse for a panoramic view of the mountains, sea, and city) → Chaoyang Street (modern leisure district) → Suochengli (600 years of history, experience intangible cultural heritage like paper cutting). In the evening, go to Fisherman's Wharf to photograph the European-style architecture. · Penglai Pavilion: A "fairyland on earth," tickets are CNY 100/person (free for those over 60). Climb Laobei Mountain to see the boundary between the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea, and take the cable car for an aerial view of Penglai Bay. You can take the high-speed rail to Penglai Station and transfer. · Yangma Island: Known as the "Hawaii of the East," its jelly-like sea and the rocky beaches of Zhangdao are perfect for photos and beachcombing. Renting a car or self-driving on the island is recommended; there may be temporary traffic controls during holidays. 🍜 Must-eat food Yantai Menzi (found in Suochengli or at old street stalls), mackerel dumplings, and sea worm rice. The seafood at Longhu Seafood Wharf is incredibly fresh. 💡 Tip: Yantai Station is the best choice for high-speed rail (close to the city center). In the city, you can take the No. 17 coastal bus. · -- 🎡 Dalian: A romantic city with squares big enough for a marathon Dalian has an open and grand atmosphere, with European-style architecture and ocean parks as highlights. Plan for 2–3 days. 🏞️ Must-visit recommendations · Coastal Romantic Route (Day 1): Xinghai Square (Asia's largest city square, feed seagulls) → Binhai Road (18km of stunning coastline, great photos at Bangchuidao + Laohutan) → Sunset at Xinghai Square in the evening. · Exotic Style Route (Day 2): Russian Style Street (Russian-style architecture, 3 fridge magnets for CNY 10) → Oriental Venice Water City (Venice-style gondolas, romantic night views) → Donggang Musical Fountain in the evening. · Ocean Park: Laohutan Ocean Park peak season ticket for five pavilions is CNY 220, off-season is CNY 190, featuring beluga whale and dolphin shows. The water at Bangchuidao is crystal clear, and the sea-eroded landforms are rare. 🍜 Must-eat food Sea urchin dumplings (Pin Hai Lou, approx. CNY 150 per person), Dalian Menzi (CNY 5 a bowl, pan-fried until crispy with sesame sauce and garlic), sea worm rice, and teppanyaki squid. 💡 Tip: The subway is convenient; a transit card with a CNY 20 deposit will get you around Dalian. It's windy by the sea, so be sure to bring a jacket. The best season is June–September. · -- 🚢 Transportation guide for connecting the four cities The smoothest way to travel this route is Qingdao → Weihai → Yantai → (ferry) → Dalian, without backtracking. · Qingdao → Weihai: Direct high-speed rail, fastest is about 1 hour 41 mins (departing from Qingdao North), most trips take about 2.5 hours. Frequent departures. · Weihai → Yantai: High-speed rail takes about 30 mins–1 hour, very convenient. · Yantai → Dalian: Taking the Bohai ferry across the sea is a unique experience, with a voyage of about 6.5–7 hours and multiple daily departures. Ferry tickets can be purchased via the 12306 railway app or the "China Railway Bohai Train Ferry" channel. You can take a nap or enjoy the sea breeze on the deck, and you'll be on the other side before you know it. · The reverse route is also possible: Dalian → Yantai → Weihai → Qingdao, which is just as smooth. If time is limited, Qingdao + Weihai + Yantai (Shandong Peninsula loop, all by high-speed rail) is the most relaxed option. If you want to experience the cross-sea ferry, add the leg from Yantai → Dalian to include the Liaodong Peninsula in your itinerary.

The beauty of Weihai lies in its 'clean, affordable, and less crowded than Qingdao' relaxed vibe. The highlights are cycling along the Coastal Road, feeding seagulls, and eating seafood. I recommend a 3-day trip; it's most comfortable at a slower pace. 🗺️ 3-day, 2-night classic itinerary · Day 1: Chasing sunsets on the Coastal Road. In the morning, head to Torch 8th Street ('Little Kamakura'—the earlier you go, the fewer people there are) and visit the International Bathing Beach on the way. In the afternoon, rent an e-bike to ride along the Coastal Road, making sure to stop at Maotou Mountain Viewing Platform No. 2 to see the reefs and waves. In the evening, head to Jinhai Bay Trestle or Half Moon Bay to watch the 'orange sea' sunset, and explore Hanlefang at night for Korean food. · Day 2: Islands and culture. Dedicate most of the day to Liugong Island (ticket + ferry ticket is about ¥122), visit the Sino-Japanese War Museum, and see the decommissioned warships. After returning from the island, walk from Weihai Park to Yuehai Park to check out the giant photo frame and the white lighthouse (free). In the evening, head to Oulefang for local snacks. · Day 3: Rongcheng coastal scenery. Head toward Rongcheng to see the Blue Ways shipwreck (free, great for 'ruin-style' photos) and play at Naxianghai Diamond Beach. If you have time, you can visit Jiming Island (round-trip ferry ticket is about ¥80) to feed the seagulls, then head back in the evening. 🥘 Must-try food · Mackerel dumplings: Palm-sized and bursting with fresh juice. · Spoon worm rice: Rice coated in sauce with crispy, tender spoon worms. Locals often go to 'Qiaokeli Yujia'. · Rushan oysters: Plump and creamy like milk pudding; steamed is the freshest way to eat them. ⚠️ Key tips · Transportation: Renting an e-bike in the city costs about ¥40–70/day. Make sure it's one person per bike and wear a helmet (there are many hills and it's dangerous; don't carry passengers). Attractions toward Rongcheng are far away, so I recommend chartering a car or driving yourself, as bus service is infrequent. · Accommodation: Prioritize staying near Weihai Station or Hanlefang for convenient dining. If booking a sea-view homestay, check if it's a 'converted residential building' (soundproofing is usually poor). · Avoiding traps: Don't trust '¥699 for a 3-day tour' low-price groups; they are all shopping traps. Book your Liugong Island ferry ticket in advance via the official WeChat account. When are you planning to go? If it's September–October, you might catch the special ¥31 ticket for Liugong Island for Yantai and Weihai residents (excluding National Day), which is a great deal.

Chaotouge Zaopo Vinegar Hot Pot on the B1 floor of Jinlun in Xinjiekou is incredibly popular. The entrance is packed with people waiting during meal times. You'll need to queue, but luckily the table turnover is pretty fast. ✅ The soup base is authentic Hainan Zaopo vinegar. Fermented rice lees give it a gentle, sour aroma. It's not harsh, and it really enhances the freshness of the seafood. The seafood here is fresh and caught to order. 🦐 The set meal includes live shrimp that are still jumping when served. After cooking, the meat is firm and bouncy. 🦪 The Rushan oysters are plump and meaty. They soak up the sour and spicy soup perfectly. 🥬 Vegetables and meatballs are all-you-can-eat. There's a great variety, including leafy greens, mushrooms, and all kinds of frozen meatballs. You can even grab the Hainan specialty firecracker bamboo shoots. They restock quickly, so you don't have to worry about running out. 💰 It's great value for money, and the set meal for 2 is very affordable. Paired with the self-service items, it's plenty to fill you up. Start by cooking the beef 🥩 and free-range chicken as a base. Then add the live shrimp and oysters. Finally, head to the self-service area to grab vegetables and meatballs to fill up. Pair it with the Hainan specialty kumquat dipping sauce for a sour, spicy, and refreshing flavor. It's satisfying and a great deal.
