As an ice-cream lover I was delighted to learn about this pairing, and *wow* did it deliver! The restaurant is beautiful, filled with art that has a unique African flair, but the captivating view of the landscape from the restaurant window can't be beaten. We also ordered wood fired pizzas that had gourmet flavour profiles, that we absolutely enjoy. The mother of Sunday Markets in Stellenbosch 😎

This is the perfect way to cap a weekend! The market is along Dorp street, on both sides of the road so it does get crowded at points. But it offers a wide range of things to see and buy. From candles to cheese, it's all there. All the vendors are so friendly and insightful about the products they make and sell. I'd recommend this market to anyone who loves hand made and artisanal goods. #timetotravel #market #Stellenbosch

Lavender picking 🇿🇦

These gorgeous lavender fields are over at Canttevallei in Stellenbosch. It cost us 50 ZAR each to go into the fields and pick a bunch. You can take your time and fill a ring that holds about 50+ stems. The farm also has a fantastic little stall selling all sorts of crafts and lavender products and they offer fantastic wine tasting for only 80 ZAR. This was an excellent midweek escape. Anura Vineyard

#summerbreak Anura vineyard is a very cute vineyard on the orange line of the wine tour in South Africa. It is a smaller estate than the other vineyards and has a European feel to it with a nice pond outside and the building representing a villa. In this particular vineyard, we found that the wines on sale were very good value (particularly the rosè) wine. This particular vineyard had less options of wine pairing with food but the wine was delicious #mytripvlog #urbanexplorer

Lunch and views to die for.

Postcard cafe has always been recommended to us by friends and family, so after our first visit I absolutely see why! The wine farm it is on is picturesque, and has a beautiful dam you can stroll around with a big lawn that kids will love. The food was delicious with that unique South African flare, boasting some local dishes like bobotie that I thoroughly enjoyed. Feeling porky?

To me a staycation is taking some time to explore your city and re-energize through exploration. Joostenberg is perfect for that! This place has a deli, restaurant, picnic area with prepacked picnic baskets and nurseries for succulents and other local plants. The deli has an array of freah fruits and vegetables, a butchery dedicated to pork and excellent local products a long with a range of asian products. #staycation #exploremore

One of our favourite spots to stop and enjoy the surrounding. The food is delicious and the coffee to die for, on average breakfast cost us about ZAR 150. The shop sells all their amazing wines and the wine estate has accomidation too. #breakfast #vineyard

Wine tasting in Stellenbosch 🍷

If you are ever in the Western Cape, South Africa, a must visit destination is Stellenbosch. Known for its historical buildings, culture and beautiful wine estates, Stellenbosch is a beautiful town with vineyards, art galleries and museums that each have a story to tell. I went to a few Wine Farms over the weekend and pictured above are 2 of my favorite ones, ‘namely ‘Hidden Valley Wines’ and ‘Stellenrust Wines.’ To get there from Cape Town you can take an Uber for 45mins. There are plenty of Ubers around in the area so moving around is not too difficult. I also suggest using Uber as drinking and driving is not an option. There are beautiful vineyards, museums, art galleries and historical buildings throughout the town. Hotels - there are many hotels in Stellenbosch, some located on the wine estates which makes for convenient wine tasting adventures. Food & Restaurants - there are restaurants on almost every street serving a variety of cuisines. The wine farms have their own restaurants attached. Shopping - plenty of shops and souvenir stores. A well known mall for shopping is Eikestad in the center of Stellenbosch. #createwithtrip

Getting There - Getting to Cape Town is easy, with many direct international flights and others coming from Johannesburg, getting here is not a problem. Attractions - Cape Town is the absolute gem of Africa, located on the bottom most corner of the beautiful continent. With many regions within the city that have different attractions, you might want to check out Stellenboch and Somerset West for a second to none wine experience. The table mountain is great for hikers and the views up there are breathtaking. Beach lovers and urban explorers would love love love seapoint, this is an amazing built up area close to the shore. The city is buzzing with cafes and patisseries that are perfect for digital nomads and coffee lovers. Avg. Price per Person - The city is not too pricey and you will love the value you get for your money. Average daily spend would be about R500 (USD 35) depending on activities. R500 can get you wonderful 3 restaurant meals and drinks. Rating - 8.5/10 Hotels - There are many hotels to stay in. The city boasts most famous hotel franchises. Food & Restaurants - This is the best bit! The city is abuzz with restaurants and food joints that will really give you a taste of Africa. Sips in Stellenbosch: A Wine Lover's Paradise

Stellenbosch is a town in Cape Town South Africa. It has an abundance of vineyards and is in the cool mountainous area. This is really a wine lover's paradise where you can enjoy delicious quality wine and admire the beautiful landscapes. Getting There - It is about an hour's drive from main city of Cape Town. Recommend joining a day tour which brings you to more than one vineyard. Highlights - The highlight will be visiting multiple vineyards and havign wine tasting with cheese pairing and also cured meat. Personally visited two vineyards - Fairview and Marianne and tasted over 10 types. The cheese at Fairview were made by the vineyard themselves and very delicious. Tried the traditional meat jerky (biltong) pairing with wine at Marianne and goes really well. At both vineyards, the staff gave a tour of how they brew the wine and provided details of every single wine we tasted including red, white, rose and sweet wines. Hotels - You may choose to stay in some of the vineyards which also offer accomodations for a country side escape. Located on the beautiful Spier Wine Estate, Vadas Smokehouse and bakery. I started my day with a delicious breakfast and walked off to their tasting room, on the same property, to enjoy some of Spier’s delicious wines. Vadas has a lovely fireplace to keep you nice and cosy on the cold winter days, and a lovely outside area for the warmer summer days. Don’t forget to visit the farm cafe for some goodies while you’re there!

Botanical Garden Stroll

This botanical garden is worth a visit, in the heart of Stellenbosch, it is small but has a wide variety of plants and enough to get lost in. My favourite area is the aquatic plants. With benches all over the park it is great to just sit and relax. Some people pack their own snacks and just enjoy the vibe. The restaurant in beautiful and I can say the cakes are to die for. Get away from the crowds of your buses and the Tram and book a private tour with Brad! We received some great suggestions from Brad including where to go for our wine and cheese tasting, got to see a smaller boutique winery and filled in all of the wineries that were also on our list. You get to go at your own pace, can stay as long or short as you want at each stop, make changes along the way and you have great conversation as well as information along the way. Plus you get to go to some of the most beautiful properties that the tram does not. #wintergetaway
