If you are looking for a weekend getaway and want to avoid the hustle of long flights, Dongdaihe is the place you could visit. From Shenyang, get a train ticket to Dongdaihe railway station. From the station, there is a 3rmb bus ride that would take you to the entrance of Orientino hotel which is only 10-15 mins away. Although the beach does not stretch for miles, you can pick a nice spot to beach bum under the sun. If the summer heat is too much, you can rent one of those umbrellas that start from 200 rmb and then you can have sun protection all day long. Also, you can bring your own tent or umbrella, prop it on the sand, bring a loud speaker, pop open a cold beer and enjoy the day. The hotel nearby called Orientino hotel is right in front of the beach. It’s a 5 ⭐️ hotel that has all the facilities you need for a good holiday. The room is spacious with separate toilet and shower room. The bath tub is placed outside the shower room but has a divider for some privacy. The hotel also has indoor and outdoor pools but better check with the hotel for outdoor pool availability as they schedule it for days of cleaning. They have some VR and other small arcades for your entertainment, too. The most fun part of the trip in dongdaihe is the stretch of beach activities. Along the beach, you can find several little amusement parks and at night they held an outdoor party where a DJ and an MC were hosting. There were endless fireworks and tons of snacks in the street. It gives you that happy, fun vibe. There are no dull moments. In the remaining days of summer, make this one your final stop before the weather gets cold again.

A seaside island that's a World Cultural Heritage site, don't be low-key anymore!

This should be a seaside resort that most people will miss! And I have to highly recommend it! Photo taken in June 2020, it was also a coincidence. Due to a flight change to Qinhuangdao, I switched to a train at the last minute, and then... 20 minutes drive from Shanhaiguan Railway Station, I discovered a place called 'Dongdaihe'! Actually, this is Huludao! And it's not in Hebei! It's already in Liaoning! If it weren't for this chance encounter, I would never have known about this place! After arriving, I found out that Huludao is such an interesting place! Extremely low prices, fresh seafood, seaside homestays with stunning views... niche historical and cultural attractions... and there's even... a World Cultural Heritage site! Huludao, originally just a transit point, made me stay for five whole days! It only takes about 20 minutes to get to the easternmost end of the Great Wall - Shanhaiguan; and the Jiumenkou Great Wall on Huludao is a very niche World Cultural Heritage site. Climbing the authentic water Great Wall is quite interesting! I also went to~~ One of the most well-preserved Ming Dynasty ancient cities in China: Xingcheng The world's first leaning tower is on the way to Xingcheng, called the 'Qianwei Leaning Tower' Its inclination and age are both greater than the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and it's especially fun to take pictures Go find Cao Cao's 'East to the Jieshi Mountain to view the vast sea', and when you find the Jieshi, you also find the stunning seascape. If you like horse riding, take a ride along the sea, it's quite a different kind of fun! Compared to the well-known Beidaihe, this place is less crowded and quiet, with low consumption, yet on the same coastline. Although the beauty of Aranya is indeed impressive... But, the price for one night there is enough to stay in Dongdaihe for ten days!

On our most recent trip, we arrived at the magical Yellow River Stone Forest Scenic Area. The scenery here is like a series of magical scrolls, I can't help but want to share with everyone! Transportation: We chartered a car from Lanzhou and drove about 4 hours to the scenic area. You can also choose to take the high-speed rail to Baiyin City, and then transfer to a bus or taxi. Accommodation: We chose a homestay near the scenic area, the environment is comfortable and the price is reasonable. You can also choose to stay in Baiyin city, where there are more choices. Travel guide: We chose to enter the scenic area at dusk, so we could admire the magnificence of the Stone Forest under the sunset. The scenic area at night also has lively bonfire parties, where you can dance and chat with the locals. Must-see attractions: 1. Jiulong Cave: This cave is one of the most distinctive places in the Stone Forest Scenic Area, the cave is cool and pleasant, and you can see the magical stalactites. 2. Thousand Buddha Cliff: The cliff here is carved with thousands of Buddha statues, which is very spectacular. 3. Camel Peak: This is a camel-like peak, a good place for photo souvenirs. 4. Yellow River Old Bridge: This ancient bridge is the oldest bridge on the Yellow River, standing on the bridge you can see the beautiful scenery of the Yellow River on both sides. 5. Yellow River Rafting: Rafting on the Yellow River, you can feel the surging and magnificence of the Yellow River. Tips 1. It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes, as some places require walking and climbing. 2. Bring sun protection and a hat, the summer UV is strong. 3. There are no restaurants or snack bars in the scenic area, you need to bring your own food or choose to eat outside the scenic area. 4. Do not litter in the scenic area, protect the environment. 5. Located at the junction of Hebei and Suizhong County, the Jiumenkou Great Wall connects Hebei and Liaoning. This is a place with stories, but these stories are quite tragic. Walking on the Great Wall and into the tunnel feels like crossing to the ancient battlefield, experiencing the feelings of the ancients, and sighing at today's life.
