Explore Pretoria: Where History Meets Modernity
Pretoria is the administrative capital of South Africa. It is known for the rich history and many important monuments.
Getting there - I hired a driver/ local guide for a day tour to Pretoria from Johannesburg, this is the best way to learn about local history and culture.
Attractions -
1. Nelson Mandela Starue
Highlights - This huge statue is a memorial and tribute to the legacy of South Africa's first black president, Nelson Mandela. It symbolizes resilience and the struggle for freedom and equality.
2. Union Buildings & Union Buildings Gardens
Highlights - This is a stunning blend of lush landscapes and historical significance. The gardens offer breathtaking views of the city and the iconic Union Buildings.
3. Voortrekker Monument
Highlights - This is a granite monument commemorating the Afrikaner pioneers' journey. There is a informative museum inside about the Voortrekker's journey and you can panoramic views of the city from the top level.

We visited the Blue Crane restaurant in Pretoria at Brooklyn. I love their breakfast it was fresh and tasty. It's best to go by car and enter from the restaurant parking lot where it's more secure and you get to go by the organic garden first before having the view of the birds enjoying themselves at this protected sanctuary. This time though I didn't see Blue Cranes probably because it's winter time. By the way the Blue Crane is South Africa's national bird.
Pretoria, South Africa. #TheCapitalHotel.
Take a Hike (Hennops, South Africa)
South Africa boats some of the best hiking trails in the world. With breathtaking views and possible wildlife encounters. This farm has a few trail options. We opted for the 10km. It is fairly challenging and not recommended for kids under 12 and people with limited fitness levels. It’s very Rocky so hiking shoes are beneficial. There are quite a few cute additions like two hanging bridges, ladders to climb, and a chair swing at the end to get back to base. R100 will get you in and there is safe parking and shop with snacks and drinks. This hike will take about 3 hours to complete and the farm closes at 5pm. Early mornings are the best time to see wildlife. #hikingtrails #southafrica #hiking
