There’s something about Amsterdam that makes you want to put your phone away for a moment and simply enjoy where you are. The peaceful canals, charming old houses, bicycles passing through narrow streets, and little cafés hidden around every corner create an atmosphere that feels both lively and relaxing. 🌷🏘️ One of my favorite things about exploring this city was how every street seemed to have its own personality. You can spend the morning walking beside the canals, stop for coffee in a cozy café, discover local boutiques, and watch the city come alive as the afternoon goes by. And when the sun starts to set, the reflections of the historic buildings on the water make Amsterdam feel almost like a painting. 🌅🚤 What makes this place special isn’t just its famous landmarks, but the little moments in between — the sound of bicycles, the architecture, the friendly atmosphere, and the feeling of being somewhere completely different from your everyday life. 📍 Amsterdam, Netherlands 🇳🇱 Some cities impress you with their size, others with their beauty. Amsterdam does both, but somehow makes you feel at home at the same time. ❤️🌍 #Amsterdam #Netherlands #VisitAmsterdam

The Netherlands is actually much bigger than you might think! 🇳🇱 So if you're planning a trip, I highly recommend getting a "travel pass." It gives you unlimited access to trains and trams, letting you explore everything to the fullest! 🚆✨ Plus, with a travel pass, you can stay in cities outside of Amsterdam. Accommodation prices are more flexible, and you could save a significant amount of money! The main cities in the Netherlands are well-connected, making it super easy to visit places like Rotterdam, The Hague, and Utrecht. When visiting the Netherlands, make sure to check which pass fits your itinerary. You can book your tickets in advance through Trip.com to ensure a fun and budget-friendly trip! 🌷💰

Stepped into a postcard-like Dutch village filled with traditional windmills, wooden houses, green fields and cute little shops. We wandered around, took lots of photos, and enjoyed the peaceful countryside vibes away from the city. 🌿🛶 besides they do offer cheese workshop, wooden shoe making workshop which were very interesting! It’s such a charming place to explore at a slower pace, especially if you love scenic spots and getting a glimpse of the Netherlands beyond Amsterdam. Definitely worth adding to your itinerary if you have an extra day! 🤍 #mytravelwrap

Even though I’m mostly traveling within Germany this time, I discovered this outlet near the border between Amsterdam and Germany while planning my trip. It’s rumored to be one of the largest outlets in Europe. Since I already intended to pick up a Burberry coat during this European getaway, I decided to dedicate a full day to it. I caught the earliest FlixBus from the station next to Düsseldorf Hbf straight to Roermond Designer Outlet. This particular route is the fastest, taking only about 50 minutes. (For the return trip, you wait and board at the same spot; just remember to keep your passport handy as they check it when boarding.) Since the shops don’t open until 10:00 AM, I took the opportunity to explore the Roermond Old Town. To get there, locate the McDonald’s within the outlet area and head down the adjacent path. You’ll find an escalator that crosses over the highway; a straight walk of about 10 to 15 minutes will lead you right into the old town. I wandered through the old town until 9:45 AM, then headed back to be at the outlet just as it opened at 10:00 AM. The layout is quite convenient. However, after seeing everything, My conclusion is that Gloria Outlets back in Taiwan (near Taoyuan HSR) actually offers a better shopping experience 😂 While Roermond features big names like Prada, Loewe, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, and Gucci, the selection at most high-end boutiques felt underwhelming—with the exception of Burberry, which was well-stocked (about 85% of their typical range was available). Regardless, I managed to find exactly what I was looking for at Burberry, so I checked off one of my major goals for this trip.

Before coming to the Netherlands, my mind was full of tulip fields, fairytale windmills, and picturesque towns. When I saw them with my own eyes, I was truly speechless from the beauty 💐. The scenery is impeccable, but after the trip, I also discovered many practical issues. Here is a real, practical guide for friends planning to visit the Netherlands, covering both the pros and cons in one go! 🥲💬 🌷 Keukenhof | The ultimate spring tulip destination ✅ Highlights: Open for a limited time from late March–mid-May each year. 7 million tulips of various colors cover the land. The sea of flowers paired with windmills in the distance makes every photo look like an oil painting. It is a top-tier photo spot in the Netherlands. 💡 Travel tips: ▪️ Be sure to book tickets online in advance. It is basically impossible to buy tickets on-site. Crowds are explosive on weekends, so I recommend entering the park between 8:00 AM–9:00 AM on weekdays to avoid large tour groups. ▪️ In addition to the park trails, you can rent bicycles to ride through the private flower fields outside the park. There are fewer people, and you have more space for photos. ▪️ Allow at least 3 hours to stroll slowly. There are many niche flower beds and spots with reflections on small lakes inside. ⚠️ Cons: ▫️ The blooming season is too short! It is only open for less than 2 months a year. ▫️ It is crowded during peak season, and you have to queue for popular photo spots. ▫️ Food and drinks inside are very expensive; a bottle of water costs several euros. 🎡 Zaanse Schans | A windmill wonderland near Amsterdam ✅ Highlights: A 20-minute drive from downtown Amsterdam, with free admission. Rows of old-fashioned green windmills, colorful wooden houses, and vast pastures with cows and sheep wandering on the grass create a pastoral atmosphere. You can visit the wooden shoe workshop and traditional cheese workshop to see traditional Dutch crafts. 💡 Travel tips: ▪️ Come in the morning or evening when there are fewer tourists and the light is soft. Tour groups flock here at noon, and photos will be full of people's heads. ▪️ Don't buy souvenirs in the village; prices are high. The same gifts are much cheaper in downtown Amsterdam. ⚠️ Cons: ▫️ It is quite commercialized with tons of tour groups. ▫️ It is almost always crowded on weekends, making it hard to get empty shots. 🛶 Giethoorn | The Venice of the Netherlands ✅ Highlights: A fairytale village with no cars, only canals and small boats. 🏡 Thatched-roof cottages, canals, hydrangeas, and white swans. Taking a boat through the water town is gentle and healing. 💡 Travel tips: ▪️ You can rent a flat-bottom boat to drive yourself; no license is required. It takes 2–3 hours to leisurely row around the village. ▪️ I recommend staying for one night! In the early morning, there are no tourists, and the village is shrouded in morning mist—this is when Giethoorn is at its most beautiful. ⚠️ Cons: ▫️ Boat rental prices are significantly inflated during holidays. ▫️ The village is very small and can be explored in half a day. ▫️ It is far from Amsterdam, and the one-way commute takes a long time. 🏙 Amsterdam Canal Belt | The soul of the city ✅ Highlights: A World Heritage site where layers of colorful, narrow houses line the canals. A canal cruise is a must-do experience. At night, the canals light up, creating a perfect atmosphere. You can buy various tulips at the Singel floating flower market. 💡 Travel tips: ▪️ For the canal cruise, I recommend choosing the evening "blue hour" slot to see the architecture by day and the night views by night. ▪️ Getting around the city by walking and tram is very convenient. The old town streets are dense, so it is easy to get lost. ⚠️ Cons: ▫️ Too many tourists; the streets are always crowded. ▫️ High prices; coffee and light meals at street-side shops offer poor value for money. ▫️ The streets in the old town are narrow. 🎨 Two major art museums | A paradise for art lovers Van Gogh Museum ✅ Highlights: Houses a large collection of Van Gogh's original works, including masterpieces like Sunflowers and Almond Blossom. A holy land for art lovers 🌻. ⚠️ Cons: ▫️ You must book on the official website well in advance!! ▫️ There are no walk-in tickets on-site, so it is very easy to have a wasted trip. Mauritshuis (The Hague) ✅ Highlights: The museum's treasure, "Girl with a Pearl Earring." Seeing this world-famous painting up close is amazing, and the museum building itself is beautiful. ⚠️ Cons: ▫️ Reservation slots for popular museums get snapped up quickly. ▫️ You need to book 1 month in advance during peak season. 🏘 Cube Houses in Rotterdam | Magical, viral architecture ✅ Highlights: Peculiar, tilted yellow cube houses with a futuristic feel. They are very photogenic and a unique architectural landscape in the Netherlands. 💡 Travel tips: ▪️ You can go inside the buildings to visit. ▪️ There are small exhibitions and shops inside. ⚠️ Cons: ▫️ It is not very large; you can finish visiting in half an hour. ▫️ It is a bit far to make a special trip, so it is better to visit if you are already in the area. 📝 Practical tips & honest feedback for traveling in the Netherlands 🧐👇 ✅ Best time to visit: 🔸 April–May is tulip season, with the most beautiful scenery, but it is also the most expensive and crowded time of the year. 🔸 June–September has comfortable weather, but no flower fields, and relatively fewer tourists. ✅ Transportation: 🔸 Take the train between cities; it is punctual but expensive. 🔸 Within Amsterdam, walking and trams are sufficient. ✅ Visa: 🔸 It is part of the Schengen Area, so you need to apply for a Schengen visa in advance. 💬 Why is it beautiful, but I won't come back? The scenery in the Netherlands is truly irreplaceable—the flower fields, windmills, water towns, and art museums look like oil paintings in every frame 🥰💕. However, it is just too crowded during peak season, with tourists everywhere at popular spots 🚶‍♀️‍➡️. Overall prices are high, and expenses for food, accommodation, and transportation are significant 💸. Museum reservations are difficult to secure, and there is little room for error in your itinerary 🥲. It is worth visiting once in a lifetime to see the tulips and windmills from your textbooks with your own eyes; one trip is enough to be fulfilling 💗. The romance of the Netherlands is something you will remember forever once you have seen it 🌷. Although I won't visit a second time, the flower fields, windmills, and oil-painting-like scenery this time have been healing enough. 🤗💗 If you are planning to go to the Netherlands and have any questions, feel free to ask me in the comments section~ 💬

I set foot in Utrecht expecting a quieter alternative to Amsterdam, but I quickly realized I had stumbled upon something far more captivating. Located in the heart of the Netherlands, this ancient city originated as a Roman fortress named Traiectum back in 47 AD, making its history rich, deep, and beautifully preserved. While most international travelers flock to the overcrowded streets of Amsterdam, Utrecht sits just twenty minutes south by train, quietly boasting a soul that feels infinitely more authentic. Its crowning glory is the 112-meter Dom Tower, a gothic masterpiece built in the 14th century that still stands tall over the city center, offering a towering reminder of Utrecht’s medieval legacy. I found myself falling in love with its unique dual-level canals, specifically the iconic Oudegracht. Unlike any other city in the world, Utrecht features unique wharf cellars built centuries ago right at the water’s edge, where historical storehouses have been transformed into vibrant, glowing subterranean cafes, cozy bars, and indie boutiques. One afternoon, I rented a two-person kayak for around €12 per hour to paddle right under the old stone arches, watching locals lounge at the water-level terraces with craft beers in hand. Getting around is effortless since the entire core is virtually car-free and built for pedestrians or cyclists; renting a city bike costs roughly €10 a day, making it easy to weave through the picture-perfect streets. I ended my journey discovering secret spots that aren't printed in standard guidebooks, like the hidden courtyard garden tucked behind the Dom Church, known as the Pandhof, where medieval herbs grow in peaceful silence. For another highlight, I paid around €14.50 to take the guided tour up the 465 steps of the Dom Tower, catching a panoramic sunset across the Dutch countryside. If you decide to visit, skip the tourist traps andgrab a warm, gooey stroopwafel for €2.50 at the Vredenburg market, or grab a late afternoon coffee inside a converted wharf cellar. Utrecht proves that you do not need packed crowds to experience true Dutch magic, and it remains one of my absolute favorite discoveries in Europe. #UnderratedPlaces #Utrecht #NetherlandsTravel #ExploreUtrecht #HiddenGem #TravelStories #Oudegracht #TravelInspiration #underratedspots

Amsterdam’s canals and famous museums are beautiful, but I found a different kind of charm when I wandered away from the usual tourist route. My first discovery was NDSM Wharf, across the IJ in Noord. The old shipyard has been transformed into a huge creative space filled with street art, studios, industrial buildings, and waterfront cafés. I loved how raw and colorful it felt. Then I wandered through Karthuizerhofje, a quiet courtyard tucked away in the Jordaan. It was so peaceful compared with the busy streets outside. Amsterdam has several of these hidden hofjes, but this one felt especially easy to miss. My third find was Nieuwendammerdijk in Noord. The historic houses and old fashioned village atmosphere felt surprisingly far from central Amsterdam. I walked slowly toward the harbour and stopped for a coffee along the way. I still visited Dam Square, Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank House, Jordaan, De Pijp, Vondelpark, and the Nine Streets, but these three places gave me a quieter, more unexpected Amsterdam. Sometimes, getting slightly lost is exactly how I find the city I remember most. #amsterdam #netherlands

The selection is dizzying, ranging from classic mild flavors to truffle, basil & garlic (green pesto), chili, and even specialty goat and sheep milk cheeses. The best part? They let you sample as many flavors as you like! The staff are incredibly friendly and will even suggest pairings with their signature mustards and dips. My personal favorite is the Truffle Cheese paired with Honey Mustard—it’s a match made in heaven that goes perfectly with wine, making it ideal for a relaxing evening drink back at the hotel. Since these wax-coated Dutch cheeses hold up well at room temperature, they are super easy to pack in a suitcase. They even offer mini 3-pack sets, which make for perfect souvenirs or thoughtful gifts for your foodie friends. Pro tip: For the best photo, use the ceiling-high wall of cheese as your backdrop for that quintessential Dutch vibe. Located right in the heart of the city, it’s easy to pop in between canal strolls or tram rides. Don’t miss out! 📍Kaasspeciaalzaak Henri Willig Location: Leidsestraat 52a, 1017 PC Amsterdam, Netherlands Travel Sightseeing Souvenirs Gourmet

Before visiting Amsterdam, I thought I already knew what the city would look like. Canals. Bicycles. Narrow houses. Bridges. But seeing Amsterdam in person felt completely different. The city wasn't just beautiful from a distance. It was the little details that made me want to keep walking — quiet canal streets, bicycles passing over old bridges, reflections in the water and historic buildings standing right beside modern cafés. Amsterdam surprised me because it never felt like a city I had to rush through. The best moments often happened when I simply slowed down. 🚲 My Amsterdam Adventure Started With the Canals The first thing I wanted to do was walk along the canals. And honestly, I could have spent the entire day doing it. Amsterdam's historic canal ring curves around the old city centre, creating the scenery that the city is famous for. The area was developed mainly in the 17th century and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Every few minutes, I found another view I wanted to photograph. A small bridge. A row of narrow canal houses. A bicycle leaning against a railing. A boat slowly passing through the water. It sounds simple, but that's exactly what made Amsterdam so enjoyable. 🌉 The City Looks Different From the Water After seeing the canals from the streets, I decided to experience them from the water. A canal cruise gave me a completely different perspective. Instead of looking at the buildings from the outside, I could see the historic houses, bridges and waterfront architecture from the middle of the canal. It was also one of those moments when I finally stopped checking my map. I just sat back and watched Amsterdam pass by. If it's your first visit, I think a canal cruise is worth making time for — especially around late afternoon when the light starts becoming softer. 🚲 Amsterdam Really Is a Cycling City I knew Amsterdam was famous for bicycles. I just didn't realize how much bicycles are part of everyday life until I arrived. Cycling here isn't simply a tourist activity. It is one of the city's most natural ways of getting around, and there are dedicated cycling routes connecting different parts of Amsterdam. But there is one thing I learned quickly: Don't casually step into a bike lane while taking photos. The bicycles move much faster than you might expect! For visitors who aren't comfortable cycling, walking and public transport are easy alternatives. But if you're confident on a bike, cycling gives you a very different way to experience the city. 🎨 Then I Discovered Amsterdam's Art Side Amsterdam isn't only about canals. The city's museums were another highlight of my trip. At Museumplein, you can find some of Amsterdam's most important cultural institutions, including the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk Museum. The Rijksmuseum was especially impressive. Even if you're not normally a museum person, it's worth visiting simply to experience the building and see famous Dutch masterpieces, including Rembrandt's The Night Watch and works by Vermeer. I liked that Amsterdam gave me two completely different experiences: Outside, I could wander through the canals and streets. Inside, I could slow down and spend hours surrounded by art and history. 🏘️ I Loved Getting Lost in the Smaller Streets One of my favorite things about Amsterdam was actually doing nothing specific. I walked through neighborhoods away from the busiest tourist areas and found small cafés, independent shops, quiet courtyards and beautiful old buildings. Jordaan was one of the areas I particularly enjoyed, with its narrow streets, cozy atmosphere and small local businesses. This was when Amsterdam started feeling less like a tourist attraction and more like a real city. And that's probably my favorite way to travel — having a few places I want to see, but leaving enough time to simply wander. 🧳 My Experience What surprised me most about Amsterdam wasn't one particular landmark. It was the atmosphere. I expected the city to feel busy because it is such a popular destination, but there were plenty of moments when I found myself walking beside a quiet canal with hardly anyone around. The city also felt incredibly photogenic without needing to search for a specific viewpoint. Almost every bridge seemed to have a postcard view. Almost every canal had a reflection worth photographing. And sometimes, the best memories came from simply walking without a destination. ✈️ Travel Tips ✓ Explore the canals on foot first — walking gives you more opportunities to discover small streets, bridges and hidden corners. ✓ Take a canal cruise — seeing Amsterdam from the water gives you a completely different perspective. ✓ Be careful around cycling lanes — bicycles have priority in many situations, so always look before crossing. ✓ Book popular museums in advance — major museums can have limited time slots, especially during busy periods. The Rijksmuseum specifically recommends booking a time slot ahead. ✓ Visit Museumplein — it's convenient if you want to combine several major museums in one area. ✓ Don't plan every hour — Amsterdam is one of those cities where wandering can be part of the experience. ✓ Consider a city pass if you're visiting several attractions — the I amsterdam City Card currently includes access to 70+ museums and attractions, along with benefits such as a canal cruise and public transport. 💙 Final Thoughts I came to Amsterdam expecting canals and bicycles. I left remembering something much more personal. The quiet mornings beside the water. The sound of bicycles crossing the bridges. The reflection of old houses in the canals. The feeling of getting slightly lost and discovering somewhere beautiful anyway. Amsterdam isn't a city that needs to impress you with one enormous attraction. The entire city is the experience. And that's what surprised me most. Sometimes you don't need a packed itinerary to remember a place. In Amsterdam, just walk, look around, and let the city unfold in front of you. #Amsterdam #Netherlands #AmsterdamTravel #NetherlandsTravel #EuropeTravel #AmsterdamCanals #TravelEurope

Walking along Flinger Str., a vibrant shopping street in the heart of Düsseldorf, Germany, you'll come across a particularly eye-catching and vibrant shop. That's HEMA, the popular Dutch lifestyle brand from neighboring Netherlands! 🇳🇱✨ HEMA is incredibly popular in Germany, much like a "stylish, affordable lifestyle store" in Japan. The store is packed with items featuring sophisticated color palettes reminiscent of Scandinavian design, and unique designs infused with European humor. Whenever I visit, I always check out their wide variety of stationery and kitchenware. 📒🍳 The notebooks in exquisite, nuanced colors and the stylish freezer bags make excellent practical souvenirs for myself. Their baby and kids' items are also incredibly cute, making them perfect for finding gifts for nieces and nephews. 🍼 And you absolutely can't miss the Dutch specialty, stroopwafels, available near the checkout counter or in the food section! This traditional treat consists of a thin waffle batter sandwiching rich caramel. Enjoying it in your hotel room, placing it on top of a cup of warm coffee or tea like a lid, and letting the caramel melt is the ultimate luxury that soothes a tired body after a long walk. ☕️💕 If you suddenly realize you've forgotten your eco-bag during your trip, or need a cute folding umbrella or travel bottle, HEMA has the perfect solution – stylish designs at great prices. While strolling through the Old Town (Altstadt), be sure to stop by for a little treasure hunt! 📍HEMA Location: Flinger Str. 32, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany #DüsseldorfTourism #GermanyTravel #EuropeTravel #OverseasTravel #GirlsTrip #HEMA #DutchGoods #AffordableGoods #SouvenirShopping #OldTownStroll #Stroopwafel #RecommendedShops #ShoppingForGoods #TravelWriter #LifeInGermany

I traveled from London to France on this Eurostar first-class flight. I had a two-month train pass, which allowed me to travel through the Channel Tunnel directly to Paris—a lifelong dream for many. From Paris, I would then take the red Hercules train through Belgium to the Netherlands (see picture two). It was truly a great pleasure. I was always in first class, and the conductor often wondered why we were allowed to travel there. So I showed him my first-class train pass. He immediately became polite. Me: "Sir, this is my Euro pass and 28-country first class." Conductor: Immediately smiling: "You are welcome to have a nice day. That is expensive." Me: Smiling, I replied: "Yes, that is my dream—for family travel with my wife and daughter."

🏛️ Centraal + Rijksmuseum - don’t just enter, look up. 🌷 Tulips - not just flowers, they’re Dutch identity. 🏘️ Canal houses - crooked, narrow and beautifully Amsterdam. 🚤 Canals - the 17th-century canal ring is UNESCO-listed. ☕ Café = actual coffee, pastries and lunch. 🌿 Coffeeshop = is NOT your normal café. 🥞 Try: stroopwafel + Dutch pancakes + apple pie. 💡 MY FORMULA: Walk → canals → dessert → sunset cruise. 🇳🇱 📍 Amsterdam, Netherlands #amsterdam #amsterdamtravel #amsterdamtips #amsterdamcanals #netherlands #europetravel

Amsterdam isn't really a city you rush through. Canals winding between narrow houses. Bicycles everywhere. World-class museums. Historic neighbourhoods. And golden light reflecting off the water. The Dutch capital has a way of making even an ordinary walk feel like part of the experience. If you're visiting for the first time, these are the 6 places I'd put at the top of your list. 🌷 1. RIJKSMUSEUM Start with one of the city's cultural icons. The Rijksmuseum houses an incredible collection of Dutch art and history, including masterpieces by Rembrandt and Vermeer. Even if you only have a few hours, make time for the Gallery of Honour. Best for: Art, history & culture. 🚤 2. AMSTERDAM CANALS You can't visit Amsterdam without seeing the city from the water. The canal belt is lined with historic houses, bridges, cafés and some of the most recognisable views in the Netherlands. Take a canal cruise or simply walk beside the water. Come around sunset when the reflections are at their best. Best for: Views, photography & atmosphere. 🌳 3. VONDELPARK After exploring the centre, slow things down. Vondelpark is Amsterdam's most famous green space, with winding paths, ponds, gardens and plenty of places to sit and watch the city go by. Rent a bike, grab a coffee and spend an hour doing absolutely nothing. Best for: Walking, cycling & relaxing. 🌸 4. JORDAAN Then get lost in one of Amsterdam's most charming neighbourhoods. Jordaan is filled with narrow streets, independent shops, cosy cafés and beautiful canal houses. It's quieter than some of the city's main attractions and perfect for simply wandering. Best for: Local atmosphere, cafés & photography. 🏠 5. ANNE FRANK HOUSE One of Amsterdam's most important historical sites. The Anne Frank House preserves the hiding place where Anne Frank and her family lived during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. It's a deeply moving experience and one that should be approached with plenty of time and respect. Tickets are released in advance, so plan ahead. Best for: History, reflection & remembrance. 🌆 6. DE PIJP Finish somewhere with a completely different energy. De Pijp is one of Amsterdam's liveliest neighbourhoods, known for restaurants, cafés, bars and the famous Albert Cuyp Market. Spend the afternoon exploring the market, then stay for dinner as the neighbourhood comes alive. Best for: Food, markets & nightlife. 🔥 THE AMSTERDAM SIX 🌷 Rijksmuseum — The culture 🚤 Amsterdam Canals — The icon 🌳 Vondelpark — The escape 🌸 Jordaan — The charm 🏠 Anne Frank House — The history 🌆 De Pijp — The energy Six places. And somehow they still only scratch the surface. Because Amsterdam isn't really about seeing everything. It's about cycling beside a canal. Getting lost down a quiet street. Stopping for coffee in a tiny café. And watching the city's narrow houses glow as the sun disappears over the water. 🇳🇱 Which one would you visit first? #Amsterdam #Netherlands

#easytravelpost My biggest Amsterdam tip? Stop trying to see everything. This city gets better when you slow down. 🌷 Morning: start around Jordaan - canals, crooked houses, quiet streets and coffee before it gets busy. 🛍️ Late morning: wander De 9 Straatjes (Nine Streets) for boutiques, cafés, flowers and some of the prettiest canal corners. 🚶 Afternoon: forget the checklist for a while - walk the UNESCO canal ring, cross random bridges and enjoy the details you normally rush past. 🌅 Golden hour: grab a drink and sit beside the canal. Simple, but genuinely one of my favourite Amsterdam memories. 🚤 Sunset: finish with a canal cruise - evening is especially beautiful when the bridges and canal houses start lighting up. 💡 MY AMSTERDAM FORMULA: Jordaan 🌷 → Nine Streets 🛍️ → canals 🚶 → waterside break 🌅 → evening cruise 🚤 📍 Amsterdam, Netherlands 🇳🇱 Amsterdam isn’t a city I’d rush through again.

Think €100 goes the same distance everywhere in Europe? Not even close. The latest Eurostat price-level data shows a huge gap across Europe. In 2025, overall household-consumption prices ranged from about 63% of the EU average in Bulgaria to 140% in Denmark. So what does your €100 feel like on the ground? 🇧🇬 BULGARIA — €100 feels BIG 🍽️ Several affordable meals ☕ Cafés + snacks 🚇 Public transport 🏛️ Sightseeing 🛍️ Room left for shopping 🇷🇴 ROMANIA — GREAT VALUE 🍲 Local restaurants ☕ Coffee & pastries 🚆 Affordable transport 🏛️ Museums + attractions 🍷 Plenty left for experiences 🇵🇱 POLAND — BUDGET-FRIENDLY 🍽️ Multiple meals 🚋 Transport around the city ☕ Cafés 🏰 Attractions 🛍️ Local shopping 🇵🇹 PORTUGAL — STILL GOOD VALUE 🥐 Breakfast 🍽️ Lunch or dinner ☕ Coffee stops 🚋 Transport 🌊 A few paid experiences 🇪🇸 SPAIN — COMFORTABLE, BUT CITY MATTERS 🥘 Tapas / casual meals ☕ Coffee & drinks 🚇 Metro or buses 🏛️ Attractions 🍦 Treats along the way 🇮🇹 ITALY — €100 CAN DISAPPEAR FAST 🍕 A couple of meals ☕ Espresso breaks 🚆 Local transport 🍨 Gelato 🏛️ Maybe an attraction or two 🇫🇷 FRANCE — WATCH THE EXTRAS 🥐 Breakfast 🍽️ Casual dining 🚇 Transport ☕ Café stops 🎟️ One or two experiences 🇩🇰 DENMARK — €100 DOESN’T GO FAR ☕ A few coffees 🍽️ One or two meals 🚇 Transport 🎟️ An attraction …and your wallet is already asking questions. 😅 💡 THE BIG TAKEAWAY Using the EU average as €100, the same representative basket of household goods and services would cost roughly: 🇧🇬 Bulgaria → €63 🇷🇴 Romania → €65 🇵🇱 Poland → €73 🇭🇺 Hungary → €77 🇵🇹 Portugal → €87 🇬🇷 Greece → €87 🇪🇸 Spain → €92 🇮🇹 Italy → €97 🇫🇷 France → €110 🇩🇪 Germany → €108 🇦🇹 Austria → €113 🇳🇱 Netherlands → €116 🇸🇪 Sweden → €121 🇱🇺 Luxembourg → €132 🇮🇪 Ireland → €136 🇩🇰 Denmark → €140 ⚠️ Important: these are price-level comparisons, not literal travel budgets. Your actual spending depends heavily on the city, season, accommodation, restaurants and activities. A €100 budget in central Paris or Copenhagen can disappear much faster than €100 in Sofia or Bucharest. And even within one country, categories can tell a different story. Eurostat's data shows that food, transport, clothing, restaurants and accommodation don't all follow the same national price pattern. 📌 SAVE THIS POST before your next European trip! Amsterdam Schiphol Airport: Must-buy small-pack treats from the Albert Heijn supermarket before your departure: 1. Tony’s Chocolonely: €5 (Small packs are typically unavailable in regular supermarkets) 2. Wilhelmina Dutch Mints (Exquisite mini tin edition): €3 3. Dutch Stroopwafels: €3-5. Note: The tins can be quite heavy, so consider your luggage weight if buying multiple packs. These are my top recommendations for gifts. Highly recommended!
