Fushun travel guide
✅Best time to visit
· September–October is the top choice for autumn: full of red leaves, comfortable temperatures, best for Manchu ancient city + landscape
· May–June: spring outing, mild climate; July–August: summer escape, Red River Valley rafting; December–February: ice and snow, hot springs
🚗 Transportation in and around the city
· No civil airport: fly to Shenyang Taoxian Airport, then transfer by high-speed train or Leifeng bus to Fushun
· High-speed train: Shenyang to Fushun North Station takes about 20 minutes, costs around ¥20, most convenient
· In the city: bus fares 1–2 yuan, taxis have low starting rates; for outskirts (Hetu Ala, Qingyongling), carpool, charter, or day tours are recommended; drive carefully on mountain roads; most city attractions are 10–20 yuan by taxi
🏨 Accommodation suggestions (prioritize convenience)
Top choice: Shuncheng Wanda / Xinfu district city center
· Advantages: central to everywhere, concentrated spicy hot pot and night markets, many chain hotels, 100–200 yuan per night, close to city attractions by taxi
· Avoid: staying overnight near Hetu Ala or Qingyongling — high prices, limited facilities, quiet at night, better to do day trips from the city
· Family-friendly options: hotels near Gaowan Royal Ocean Park; nature lovers can choose guesthouses near Sarhu or Dahuo Fang Reservoir
🗓️ 2-day classic highlights route (Manchu culture + industry + landscape + revolutionary history)

· Asia’s largest open-pit mine (424 meters deep), industrial shock, a scar on the earth perspective; free at Donggang viewing platform, museum visit about 25 yuan; 8:30 AM–4:30 PM, closed Mondays; see century-old electric railway and panoramic mine views, great for photos on sunny days
Noon: authentic Fushun spicy hot pot in the city (sweet, sour, spicy, and fragrant, local soul, not to be confused with spicy hot pot soup)

Day 2: Xinbin · birthplace of the Qing dynasty (Manchu culture route)
All day: Hetu Ala city + Qingyongling (on the way together)
· Hetu Ala city: birthplace of Nurhaci, first capital of Later Jin; ticket 60 yuan; Khan’s palace, Khan’s well, Manchu old street; recommend 3 hours, rent Manchu costumes for photos, watch folk performances; try Manchu eight dishes and eight bowls, Xinbin lamb soup

🍜 Must-try food list (authentic and reliable)
1. Fushun spicy hot pot (must-try No.1): sweet and sour flavor, dry mixed vegetables without soup, look for the old shop near South Station
2. Manchu eight dishes and eight bowls: sauerkraut with pork, chicken stewed with mushrooms, blood sausage, Manchu banquet, authentic in Hetu Ala city or Manchu restaurants in the city
3. Xinbin lamb soup: milky white rich broth, lamb offal and blood, no gamey taste, warming
4. Dahuo Fang Reservoir fish feast: fathead fish stewed with tofu, must order near Sarhu
5. Snacks: sticky bean buns, sour soup noodles, Fushun small meat skewers, Yong’an dumplings
⚠️ Pitfalls to avoid & practical tips
1. Hetu Ala and Qingyongling are far from the city, about 1 hour one way; don’t drive mountain roads if you’re a beginner; carpool or day tours are more worry-free
2. Leifeng Memorial Hall and war criminal management office are closed on Mondays; be sure to reserve online in advance and bring your ID
3. West open-pit mine is windy with strong sunlight; use sunscreen and sunglasses; do not climb over railings
4. Northeast cuisine portions are very large; don’t order too much; 2 people with 2 dishes is enough
