Discovering Xingping’s Stunning Li River: A Quick Guide 🚤🌄 If you’re craving those wild Instagrammable landscapes, Xingping in Guangxi is the place. The Li River here is legendary: endless Karst mountains, dramatic scenery, and peaceful villages. Top Spots to Visit: · Li River Scenic Area (Xingping Pier, open daily, 8am–6pm): The “20 Yuan Note View” is just a short walk east, and the panorama is seriously epic! Best time for photos? Early morning—mist rolls over the peaks and you’ll avoid tour crowds. · Laozhai Hill (next to Xingping Ancient Town): This steep but short hike rewards you with totally insane sunset views. Wear good shoes—it gets slippery, but the payoff is next-level. · Xingping Ancient Town: Wander the little side streets for rustic vibes and grab street snacks (try the local rice noodles at “Lao Xingping Mian Dian”). Tips: · Bring a light jacket—even in summer, river breezes can get chilly at dawn. · Skip the big river cruises (can be pricey); hire a small bamboo raft at Xingping Pier for a quieter, cheaper trip—just negotiate in advance! · Cash is king in smaller shops and for raft rides. Getting Around: · Buses run from Yangshuo to Xingping every 30 minutes, ~40 mins ride. · In town, everything’s walkable or rent a bike for longer exploring. Food: Local spots serve up fresh river fish ("beer fish" is a must-try at Xingping’s little eateries). Hit “Yuan Xiang Restaurant” for flavorful local dishes. Essential Info: · No visa extension service in Xingping. · Weather: Summers are hot and humid, but mornings are cool. #LiRiver #Xingping #ChinaScenery #TravelTips #Tripcom

You can explore the area by biking, kayaking, taking a bamboo raft, or hiking up to the panoramic viewpoints. Best for: Experiencing untouched nature away from the tourist crowds. ⸻ ⭐ Which One Should You Choose? 🌿 Yangshuo — The most famous karst landscapes. 🌄 Guilin — Classic views and Li River cruises. 🌅 Xingping — The legendary scenery from the 20-yuan bill. ⛰ Libo — Untouched nature and national parks.

The ultimate, tried-and-tested itinerary is here! It seamlessly connects Guihai Qinglan + Guilin city + all must-visit spots in Yangshuo. Transportation is worry-free, pitfalls are avoided, and you can enjoy your trip without staying up late to plan👇 📍Recommended route Day 1 Guihai Qinglan for great photos → Guilin city for food and sightseeing → Day 2 Xingping CNY 20 backdrop photo op → Xianggong Mountain → Yulong River bamboo raft → Day 3 Ten-Mile Gallery → Yangshuo West Street 🚗Transportation · Guilin city → Guihai Qinglan: A 20-minute taxi ride from the city center, costing about CNY 15–25, is the most worry-free option. · Guilin – Yangshuo: Take the 40-minute high-speed train from Guilin Station to Yangshuo Station, then transfer to a bus to the county town. Avoid unlicensed taxis at the station. · In Yangshuo, renting an e-bike for CNY 30–50/day is a must for convenient travel. · Xianggong Mountain: Carpooling, chartering a car, or self-driving is recommended. From Xingping, you can take a CNY 5 ferry + sightseeing bus up the mountain. 🏞️Attraction tips ✅Guihai Qinglan Known as "Guilin's Little Switzerland"! 3,600 mu of grassland is surrounded by karst peaks, with lakes reflecting the mountains—the healing vibes are off the charts. Best time to visit is 8:00 AM or 4:00 PM. Tickets are CNY 35, and 2–3 hours is enough for a visit. ✅Guilin city No need to rush around! After returning from Guihai Qinglan, stroll through Dongxi Alley for Guilin food, enjoy the night view of Two Rivers and Four Lakes, and just view Elephant Trunk Hill from a distance. It's all about a relaxed pace. ✅CNY 20 backdrop photo op Navigate directly to "CNY 20 Viewing Platform." This free spot faces the exact same scenery. On a sunny day, hold up a banknote for a comparison shot—it looks amazing. ✅Xianggong Mountain Climb to the top to overlook the first bay of the Li River. The layered karst peaks look like an unfolded ink painting! For sunrise, we recommend carpooling and leaving in the early morning. It's less crowded and beautiful, and it's legendary during the sea-of-clouds season. ✅Yulong River bamboo raft (must-do) Choose the Jinlong Bridge to Jiuxian highlight section! One raft seats two people; solo travelers can share a raft. ✅Ten-Mile Gallery Just take it slow on an e-bike! The rice paddies, karst peaks, and streams along the way form a painting, and the sunset at Gongnong Bridge is stunning. We recommend leaving after 4:00 PM to avoid the harsh sun. ✅Yangshuo West Street Go at night! It's just an ordinary commercial street during the day. ❌Hard-learned tips to avoid pitfalls 1. For bamboo rafts, choose Jinlong Bridge. 2. Don't trust low-priced one-day tours; they are traps. 3. When renting an e-bike, take photos of the whole vehicle to check for damage and check the battery level to avoid being scammed for scratch fees when returning it. 4. Don't just walk into any bar or travel photography shop on West Street. Ask about prices clearly to avoid hidden costs. 6. The timed electric carts at Guihai Qinglan are expensive. The CNY 30 per person sightseeing bus or walking is more cost-effective. The pet park requires a separate ticket; buy it only if you need it. The right way to experience Guilin and Yangshuo is never about rushing between attractions. Strolling slowly through the landscapes and enjoying the food is the only way to do justice to this world-class scenery. Save this guide, and you can avoid all the pitfalls even on your first visit~

How do you escape Guangzhou for a couple of days and step right into a scene from a banknote? Here’s our game plan 🎒 Sometimes, a two-hour train ride is all it takes to transport you to a totally different reality. That’s exactly what we did: we left our heavy bags at our hotel in Guangzhou (pro tip: many hotels are completely fine with holding your luggage for a few days—just ask!) and traveled light to Yangshuo. It was hands down the best decision! · -- 🚄 How to get there Grab tickets for the Guangzhou–Yangshuo high-speed train (I broke down exactly how to do this in my previous post). The ride is a breeze—just 2 hours. Once you step out of the Yangshuo railway station, you'll spot city buses ready to shuttle you straight to Xingping. No long waits here; you'll be there in about 10–15 minutes. · -- 🏘️ What to do in Xingping 1. Take a stroll down the old street—it's got a super vibrant vibe where you can grab a bite and really soak in the spirit of this ancient town 🏮 2. Head down to the Li River waterfront and walk along the bank. Before long, you'll hit the exact viewing spot featured on the back of the 20-yuan bill (I covered this spot in a separate post—definitely check it out so you nail the perfect camera angle) 📸 3. If you're feeling energetic, hike up to the observation deck. Fair warning, the climb isn't a walk in the park, but it's worth every single step! The mind-blowing panoramic views of the karst mountains from the top will literally give you goosebumps. · -- 🏨 Evening in Yangshuo After exploring Xingping, hop back on that same city bus and head into Yangshuo. I highly recommend booking a hotel with panoramic views—and if your schedule allows, stay for two nights. This gives you plenty of time to kick back, enjoy the epic scenery right from your room, and wander around the town at your own pace without rushing. · -- ⛰️ The next day — Guilin From Yangshuo, you can keep the adventure going and head to Guilin. You can take a taxi or even cruise down the river on a boat (which is a whole adventure in itself!). Guilin is absolutely stunning too, but that’s a story for another time. · -- 🎯 The Bottom Line If you ever find yourself in Guangzhou, do yourself a favor and carve out a couple of days for this side trip. It's unrealistically gorgeous, a breeze to organize, and an experience you'll remember for a lifetime. Breathtaking nature, karst mountains, a winding river, and historic streets—all just two hours away from the bustling metropolis. ❓ Would you take a trip just to see the real-life view from the 20-yuan note? Or have you already checked Yangshuo off your bucket list? Let me know in the comments 👇

Where exactly is the scenery from the 20-yuan bill? We found it and will show you how to experience it yourself! 🌄💵 The Chinese 20-yuan banknote features a famous view of the karst mountains and a river. And we actually tracked down the real-life location! It's the town of Xingping, situated along a picturesque stretch of the Li River. Here’s a guide on how to get there and what to do next 👇 · -- 🚄 How to Get There We traveled from Guangzhou by high-speed train. We booked our tickets to Yangshuo on Trip.com—it cost around 170 CNY, and the ride took about 2 hours. Once you arrive at the Yangshuo railway station, head straight to the exit. You'll find city buses waiting to take you directly to Xingping. The buses leave as soon as they're full, so you won't have to wait long. The ride from the station to Xingping only takes about 10 minutes. · -- 🚶♂️ What to Do in Xingping 1. Stroll through the ancient town. There's one main, incredibly vibrant street filled with old houses, little shops, and authentic local vibes. It's a must-visit! 🏮 2. Head to the Li River waterfront. Just walk to the end of the street, and you'll find yourself right by the river. 3. Walk along the riverbank, and you'll soon spot the famous observation deck. This is the exact spot that offers the classic view printed on the banknote. · -- 📸 Tips for the Perfect Shot · Bring a 20-yuan bill! Take a photo aligning the banknote with the actual landscape—the result is absolutely epic. · The best time to shoot is in the morning or evening when the sun hits the mountains from just the right angle. · You can also rent a boat and cruise down the river to take in the views from the water for a totally different perspective. · -- 🎯 The Verdict This spot is super easy to find, even if you don't speak a word of Chinese. A train ride, a quick bus trip, and a short walk—and you'll be standing exactly where millions of tourists have held up their bills. The experience is unforgettable, and the photos will be incredible. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Guangxi! ❓ Did you know this view was on the banknote? Or have you been to Xingping before? Let us know in the comments! 👇

If you’re looking for the most authentic and picturesque corner of Yangshuo, Xingping Ancient Town should be at the top of your list. This charming riverside town is over 1,700 years old and is famous for its traditional streets, local atmosphere, and breathtaking views of the Li River. 🌅 Morning Start your day with a walk through the ancient town before the crowds arrive. Wander along the narrow stone streets lined with old buildings, red lanterns, local shops, and small cafés. The peaceful atmosphere makes it easy to imagine what life was like centuries ago. 🚤 Midday Head to the Li River waterfront and take a bamboo raft or boat ride. This area is home to some of the most iconic karst mountain scenery in China. In fact, the landscape featured on the back of the 20 RMB note can be found near Xingping. Don’t forget to bring a 20 RMB bill for a fun photo opportunity! 📸 Afternoon Explore the riverside paths and viewpoints surrounding the town. Every direction offers incredible mountain views, making this one of the most photogenic places in Guangxi. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant and try regional specialties while enjoying views of the river and peaks. ☕ Late Afternoon Relax in one of the town’s cozy cafés and watch daily life unfold. Xingping moves at a slower pace than Yangshuo, making it the perfect place to slow down and enjoy the scenery. 🌄 Sunset Stay until sunset if you can. As the golden light reflects on the Li River and illuminates the surrounding mountains, Xingping becomes truly magical. It’s one of the most beautiful sunset spots in southern China. ✨ Travel Tip: Combine Xingping Ancient Town with a Li River cruise or bamboo rafting trip for the ultimate Yangshuo experience. #Xingping #XingpingAncientTown #Yangshuo #LiRiver #ChinaTravel

Extraterrestrial landscapes in China can be found in Yangshuo and Xingping. This year, we discovered these places, which can easily compete with the Avatar mountains. In the Yangshuo area, I recommend booking a hotel with panoramic mountain views to enjoy them from morning till evening. Also, make sure to go rafting on the river; there are many options nearby, so choose the one that suits you best. Next, definitely rent an electric bike (around 300₽, no license required) and explore the area thoroughly. We rode along the Yulong River, and the views were stunning. Along the way, there are small cafes and coffee shops (the route runs almost directly along the river, not on the main road). Xingping is a super famous place in China; I think everyone has seen the traditional-style photo of a raft with cormorants. It is taken right here. Additionally, there is an amazing rafting experience (called Li River Bamboo Raft), located just 15 minutes on foot from the old town. You should also climb Laozhai Mountain—it’s challenging, but the views are worth it. We visited in winter and were thrilled. We want to return in spring or summer because the views we saw there are unmatched, and the scenic pools in the hotels were waiting for us due to the weather. I highly recommend these places for your next trip. Believe me, you haven’t seen anything like this yet.

Hey everyone! The May Day holiday is just around the corner, and Xi'an, the ancient capital of 13 dynasties, is about to become the hottest travel destination again! But if you visit Xi'an without proper planning or ignoring advice, you might regret it big time! Today, I'm sharing a comprehensive guide to avoiding pitfalls and enjoying a perfect 3-day trip in Xi'an. Follow this plan to explore Xi'an effortlessly and maximize your experience! Avoiding Pitfalls: Don't Let Mistakes Ruin Your Trip Tickets: Popular attractions in Xi'an, such as the Museum of the Terracotta Warriors and Horses of Qin Shihuang and the Shaanxi History Museum, are incredibly hard to get into! Without advance reservations, you might find yourself stuck outside while others enjoy the sights. Be sure to book tickets through official channels in advance! Hotels: During the May Day holiday, hotel prices in Xi'an skyrocket, often costing hundreds more than in the off-season. If you don't book early, you might face the dilemma of having no place to stay, dragging your luggage around in search of accommodation, and ruining your travel mood. Transportation: Whether it's flights or high-speed train tickets, prices surge as May Day approaches, and tickets often sell out. For those driving, parking near attractions can be a nightmare. Plan your transportation in advance—book tickets or rent a car as needed to avoid travel disruptions. Car Services: Xi'an's popular attractions are spread out, and during May Day, getting a taxi can be a real challenge, with long queues testing your patience. Without pre-booking car services, you might waste a lot of time waiting for rides between attractions. Stunning 3-Day Itinerary: Immerse Yourself in Xi'an's Charm DAY 1: Arrival in Xi'an, Free Exploration of the Ancient City Welcome to Xi'an, the ancient capital of 13 dynasties! Upon arrival, a convenient airport transfer will take you to your hotel for check-in and rest. This day is all about free exploration! I recommend visiting the Forest of Stone Steles Museum and Shuyuanmen Street. The pedestrian street from the museum to the entrance of Guanzhong Academy is steeped in cultural atmosphere. Guanzhong Academy is one of China's four famous academies. Stroll here to feel the weight of history. When you're tired, head to Defu Alley on South Street and Fen Lane, known for its "coffee and tea houses." Whether you prefer quiet or lively, traditional or modern, you'll find a spot to relax. Order a drink and soak in the vibrant nightlife of the ancient city—it's pure bliss! DAY 2: Discover Qianling Mausoleum and Famen Temple, Relive History After breakfast, take a 1.5-hour drive to Qian County. Visit Hanyangling Mausoleum, the tomb of Emperor Jing of Han, a pioneer of the "Rule of Wen and Jing" era. This high-tech preserved imperial tomb is a "museum of Chinese imperial tombs." Then, explore Maoling Mausoleum, the tomb of Emperor Wu of Han, known as "China's Pyramid" for its grandeur and rich burial artifacts. In Qian County, visit the Tomb of Crown Prince Yide or the Tomb of Princess Yongtai, both auxiliary tombs of Qianling Mausoleum. Their exquisite murals and artifacts tell stories of past glories. Next, explore the unique joint tomb of two emperors, Emperor Gaozong and Empress Wu Zetian, at Qianling Mausoleum. Standing before Qianling, you can almost feel the grandeur of that era. Then, head to Famen Temple in Fufeng County, Baoji City, known as the "ancestor of pagoda temples in Guanzhong." Here, you can pay homage to the Buddha's finger bone relic and admire the exquisite treasures of the Tang Dynasty. Note that the relic is only displayed on the 1st and 15th of each lunar month and during national holidays. Imagine the romantic stories of Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Guifei as you explore this scenic spot. The highlight of the trip is here! Visit the Museum of the Terracotta Warriors and Horses of Qin Shihuang, known as the "Eighth Wonder of the World." Witness the massive underground military museum that has stood for over 2,000 years—one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in history! Finally, head to the popular Tang Paradise. This area features lively parades and street performances. Don't miss the South and North Squares of the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda and Dayuecheng Mall. Stroll through the brightly lit streets, feeling as if you've traveled back to the prosperous Tang Dynasty. Take photos and capture these unforgettable moments. Daxu (大圩) is one of the “four great Guilin towns” — 1,000+ years of Li River trade, a 2km riverside lane of Qing brick, stone flagging worn into smiles, and a “Mao’s bridge” photo spot where old men still mend nets. I walked it 6pm — the Li River going jade, a teahouse playing Guzhengbadly but sincerely, a granny frying “oil-tea” (油茶) with puffed rice and a hit of ginger that rewired my sinuses. Free, 30 min from Guilin by bus ¥6. Less polished than Xingping, less commercial than Yangshuo — a working town, not a stage. Stay: day-trip is fine; if overnight, ¥120–170/night riverside. Food: “Daxu fermented tofu” ¥3/slab (pungent, addictive), “Li River shrimp” ¥35, “oil-tea set” ¥10. Mistake: going Sunday 11–3 — the Guilin day-tour buses land. Weekday evening the lane belongs to fishermen and cats. Would you walk a 1,000-year lane where the tea bites back, and the river keeps the same appointment it made with the Tang? #travelersvoice #chinatravelcircle

Fuli is what Xingping was 15 years ago: a working town, not a backdrop. The old street has fan-painting workshops (the “Fuli fans” are a real craft — ¥25 for a hand-painted folding fan, watch the old man ink the mountains in 4 minutes), a crumbling theater, and a riverside where women still wash greens. I missed the bus back and ended up drinking pomelo tea with a retired ferryman who pointed at a sandbar: “that’s where the Japanese plane missed the bridge in ’44.” No ticket, no QR-code menu, cash preferred at the corner noodle stall (¥10, bitter melon and pork, weirdly good). Bus from Guilin (¥20, 40 min) or raft from Xingping if water’s high. Would you plan Fuli or just get “stranded” there and let the town adopt you? #travelersvoice #chinatravelcircle

Bought tickets to Bamboo Rafting on the Li River in Xingping through Trip.com, and it turned out to be a truly enjoyable experience! 😊 Floating along the scenic Li River on a bamboo raft was peaceful and memorable, showcasing the beautiful landscapes of Xingping in a way that's definitely worth it. For anyone considering this activity, booking your tickets with Trip.com is straightforward and reliable. Make sure to bring some sun protection if you visit, as the river can get quite sunny. Relax, soak in the views, and appreciate the tranquil atmosphere on the water. Highly recommend this adventure for anyone looking to enjoy nature and take in the famous backdrop of the Li River. #realreview

Following Trip.com's recommendation, I opted for a one-day tour of Famen Temple, Qianling Mausoleum, and Maoling Mausoleum for an in-depth exploration. The itinerary was well-organized, with convenient pick-up and drop-off within the Third Ring Road. They even thoughtfully provided lunch and headsets, making the entire visit smoother. Special praise goes to our guide, Mr. Zhang; he was incredibly attentive in both explanations and answering questions. Even with over twenty families, he managed to take care of every member, making everyone feel relaxed and comfortable. The driver was also excellent, ensuring a smooth and safe journey. Tip: Given the rich itinerary and long distances, it's advisable to prepare some water and simple snacks beforehand to manage your energy. The tour also includes a visit to the Tomb of Prince Yide, a must-see for history buffs! Overall, this one-day tour was satisfying in terms of both attractions and service, making it a great option for families or friends to easily experience Xi'an's rich history and culture. #From a Real Consumer Review

Everyone talks about Beijing, Shanghai, and the Great Wall. And they should, because they are incredible. But China has so much more beyond the obvious. If you enjoyed the “see the world in one afternoon” feeling of Window of the World in Shenzhen, these are the places that gave me a similar sense of wonder, just with fewer crowds and more real life around them. 1. Pingyao, Shanxi A beautifully preserved walled city from the Ming and Qing eras. Think narrow lanes, old courtyard homes, ancient banks, and lanterns glowing after dark. It feels less like a tourist spot and more like stepping back in time. 2. Datong, Shanxi Home to the Yungang Grottoes, where thousands of Buddha figures are carved into cliffs. It is genuinely world class, yet somehow still missing from most international travel lists. 3. Turpan, Xinjiang Desert landscapes, grape vines shading the streets, ancient ruins, and food that deserves its own trip. Parts of Turpan feel like a sci-fi film set. 4. Chengde, Hebei The summer retreat of Qing emperors, with palaces, mountains, and a smaller replica of Tibet’s Potala Palace. Yes, a mini Potala in northern China. 5. Jingdezhen, Jiangxi China’s porcelain capital. You can watch artisans shape, glaze, and paint ceramics, then wander through creative little villages where every corner has a studio or kiln. 6. Quanzhou, Fujian An old port city where Chinese, Islamic, Buddhist, and Christian heritage sit side by side. It is compact, historic, and full of incredible food. 7. Zhenyuan, Guizhou A riverside old town wrapped around a dramatic bend in the Wuyang River. Traditional houses climb the hillsides, and the whole place looks even better at dusk when the lights hit the water. 8. Kaifeng, Henan A former Song dynasty capital with night markets, imperial history, and a wonderfully lived-in old city feel. Less polished than Xi’an, which is exactly why I liked it. 9. Xingping, Guangxi The quieter side of the famous Guilin landscape. Cycle along the Li River, pass fishing villages and water buffalo, and you will finally understand why Chinese landscape paintings look the way they do. 10. Harbin, Heilongjiang Russian influenced architecture, freezing winters, and the surreal Ice and Snow Festival, where entire buildings are made from ice and lit up at night. China rewards travellers who go one train stop beyond the obvious. These places do not rely on scale alone. They surprise you with history, food, texture, and that quiet feeling of having stumbled into a story. Which one would you add to your list? #ChinaTravel #HiddenGems #UnderratedDestinationsns #TravelChina #SlowTravel #TravelInspiration #ExploreChina #Wanderlust #TravelDiaries #OffTheBeatenPath #Underattedplace

We've already talked about the sunrise at Xianggongshan, Lijiang's most famous observation point. A ticket costs ¥60. There's also a hill in Xingping that offers a similar view of the river bend, and you can climb it for free. Where: Laozhai Hill on the western edge of Xingping Old Town. No ticket office or turnstile. 🚌 How to get there: Take a bus from Yangshuo to Xingping, ~¥15 and 30-50 minutes, with departures from approximately 7:20 AM to 5:50 PM. If you're traveling by train, Yangshuo Station is located right in Xingping. ⏱ Ascent: About 35 minutes up steep steps, with short metal stairs in a few places. At the top, you'll see views of the Lijiang River bend, boats, and karst mountains stretching to the horizon. 🌅 When: Sunset. But the descent isn't lit, so bring a flashlight or headlamp and start descending immediately after sunset. ⚠️ Honestly about the downsides: the trail is unofficial, and you can't check its condition in advance. Before you climb, ask at your guesthouse if the path is open. It's best not to go in the rain: the steps become slippery. 💡 At the entrance to the old town of Xingping, they sometimes ask for a symbolic 5 yen, which is normal. Would you go to Laozhai or choose the paid viewpoint? 👇 #Yangshuo #Xingping #Laozhai #Lijiang #Free #Yangshuo #Xingping #LaozhaiHill

📸 Let's talk photo spots first so you don't get overwhelmed later. Xianyang Lake Tongyi Square is quiet in the early morning. The Qin Shi Huang statue with the morning light over the Wei River is perfect—stand back for a full-body shot without the crowds 📷. Head to the second floor of the Gudu Covered Bridge after 4:00 PM. The flying eaves, the river, and the Qingwei Tower all in one frame—wearing a white dress or Hanfu looks stunning here 🌸. The glass exhibition hall at the Hanyangling Museum has a sophisticated, cool tone. Use night mode on your phone, no flash, and wait for the crowds to clear for a second before snapping. Everyone on social media will ask if you're in Xi'an 🤳. The corners of Beiping Street and Zhongshan Street in the old town have the most authentic vibe. Capture the old gate towers with some dried persimmons in the frame—it feels much more natural than a posed shot 🍁. 🚌 Let's be real about transportation—don't get yourself confused. Xi'an Metro Line 1 connects to downtown Xianyang, and you can transfer from the airport. If you have luggage, don't force yourself onto a crowded bus—it's not worth the hassle 🧳. For getting around downtown to Xianyang Lake, the museum, or the bridge, taxis or shared e-bikes are the easiest options, and the base fare isn't expensive. Driving from downtown to Hanyangling is a few dozen kilometers; taking the bus will make you question your life choices. Qianling, Maoling, and Zhengguo Canal are even further—book a legitimate shuttle or ride-hailing service on Trip.com. Don't take those cheap-looking unlicensed taxis on the side of the road; you'll regret it when they hike the price after you get in 🚕. The old town streets are narrow. Parking on the side of the road with yellow lines for "just a minute" is a bad idea—find a proper parking lot instead. 🎫 Don't put off booking your tickets. Xianyang Museum is free but requires real-name booking. Don't go on Monday, or you'll be devastated when you find it closed 😅. Hanyangling tickets are about 65–70 for adults, half-price for students—check availability on Trip.com. Qianling is 96; the Sima Road is long, so don't skimp on the shuttle bus. Maoling is about 70. Buy tickets with your real name via Trip.com or official channels and enter by scanning your ID card. Arguing with scalpers on-site is just a headache. The Qin and Han Pavilion of the Shaanxi History Museum is free. In October, check the venue's announcement for entry requirements (ID or reservation). If you don't want to do the research, book a small guided tour—it's better than just reading signs. If you're visiting the Terracotta Warriors while in Xianyang, make sure to book officially in advance with your real name. Don't touch scalper tickets. 🍜 Here's the food guide from a local perspective—no pretension here. Huitong Night Market opens after 6:00 PM. The dry-mixed Huitong noodles are chewy. Start with mild spice—ordering "extra spicy" the first time will be a painful mistake 🌶️. Guokui Yazi (crispy flatbread with braised meat) paired with Qianxian tofu pudding (savory and spicy) is so tender you can barely scoop it up. Laohanxi lotus leaf buns with meat are soft and not greasy—perfect for a filling breakfast. For oil-splashed biangbiang noodles, get the wide noodles with less soup. The Saozi noodles have a great balance of sour and savory. Don't over-order and waste food. Honestly, I don't recommend the "Qin and Han Feasts" at the scenic area entrances; they're overpriced and mediocre. Go back to the residential areas where you can eat your fill for a fraction of the price 🥢. If you want to buy local specialties like Fu tea or Liaohua candy, go to a downtown supermarket. I won't even get into how unwise it is to buy loose goods at the scenic area entrances. 🗺 Here's a detailed itinerary designed so you won't exhaust yourself. Day 1: Slow stroll downtown: Xianyang Museum to see the Western Han painted figurines → Zhongshan Street for Guokui Yazi → Walk around Xianyang Lake → Gudu Covered Bridge → Qingwei Tower night view → Finish with Huitong noodles. Day 2: Light mausoleum tour: Morning at Hanyangling outer burial pits and archaeological exhibition, afternoon back downtown to the Qin and Han Pavilion. If you have more time, spend another day on either Qianling or Maoling—trying to cram both into one day is a recipe for disaster 💥. If you're traveling with elders, don't overpack the schedule. Sitting by the lake and walking through the old streets is the most comfortable way to go. ⚠ These tips are all based on hard-learned lessons. In October, Xianyang can reach around 25°C during the day and drop to around 11°C in the morning and evening. Don't just bring tank tops or you'll freeze. Don't skip the three essentials: a light jacket, sunscreen, and a folding umbrella 🧥. I don't recommend wearing high heels to the mausoleum areas—the gravel paths will drive you crazy. Bring a power bank; your phone will die faster than you will after a day of shooting the bridge and lake views. Most museums stop entry around 5:00 PM, so arriving after 4:00 PM is basically a wasted trip. Don't buy "antique" trinkets or loose jade at the scenic area entrances. Stay near Xianyang Lake or Qingwei Tower so you can walk back to your hotel at night without needing a taxi. Compare prices on Trip.com and choose a refundable booking so you won't feel bad if you have to switch to indoor museums due to weather 🏨. Xianyang is a place to slowly savor the Qin and Han history. Trying to hit five mausoleums in one day will just make you miserable and you won't remember a thing.

This is my second time in Xi'an, and this trip is to make up for some of the things I missed last time. My first stop was the Shaanxi Archaeology Museum. I was particularly impressed by the Polo Painting from Li Yong's tomb (P1). Polo was very popular in the Tang Dynasty after being introduced from Persia; the upper nobility, and even Emperor Xuanzong of Tang (Li Longji), were keen on playing polo. The permanent mural exhibition also features many wonderful paintings, such as the dancer painting with a heart gesture (P2). After leaving the Archaeology Museum, Xiangji Temple (P3) is very close by. After the An Lushan Rebellion, the Tang Dynasty lost much of its territory. An important battle before the recapture of Luoyang took place here, where Li Siye fought shirtless with a sword. Although they won this battle, the Tang Dynasty paid a cruel price due to the alliance with the Uyghurs. In the afternoon, I headed straight to the Shaanxi History Museum's Mural Hall. For those who love murals, this hall is definitely worth the visit. It houses many precious Tang Dynasty murals. Some of the more important ones include the Watchtower Painting from the tomb of Crown Prince Yide (P4), the Polo Painting from the tomb of Crown Prince Zhanghuai (P5), the Hunting and Outing Painting (P6), and the Court Ladies Painting from the tomb of Princess Yongtai (P7). Although the three were royal family members, they all died at the hands of Wu Zetian due to political struggles. The next day, I visited the Famen Temple Museum. Highlights include the 12-ring monk's staff (P8), the highest-ranking one existing in the world, and the eight-fold treasure casket (P9) that held the Buddha's finger bone relic. There are also the bronze pagoda (P10) and the octagonal water-purifying secret-color porcelain vase (P11). Before the Famen Temple underground palace was unearthed, the world did not know what "secret-color porcelain" (mise ware) was, and could only guess from poems like, "The Yue kiln opens in the autumn wind and dew, capturing the green color of a thousand peaks." With the opening of the underground palace and the comparison with the inventory list, its true appearance was recognized for the first time. The Zhouyuan Museum is right next to Famen Temple. As the site where the Zhou people moved to Qi, the collection includes the Qiang Pan (P12), which completely records the achievements of seven generations of Zhou kings starting from King Wen of Zhou, proving the accuracy of the Grand Historian Sima Qian's Records of the Grand Historian. In the afternoon, I set off for the Maoling Mausoleum. The Maoling Museum is famous for the "Horse Trampling the Xiongnu" stone carving (P13) in front of Huo Qubing's tomb. There are also many stone carvings of animals with various appearances. I also paid my respects to Emperor Wu of Han, Huo Qubing, and General Wei Qing. On the last day, I first listened to a 6-hour guided tour of the Stele Forest Museum. Highlights include the Stone Classic of Filial Piety (P14), co-written by two emperors, Tang Xuanzong (Li Longji) and Tang Suzong (Li Heng); the Six Steeds of Zhaoling (P16), which witnessed Li Shimin pacifying the heroes and unifying the Central Plains; and the stone sarcophagus of Li Jingxun (P15), who had a legendary life and was deeply loved. There are also top-tier calligraphy works like the Preface to the Sacred Teachings (compiled from Wang Xizhi's works) and the Yan Family Temple Stele, which bears witness to the loyalty of the Yan family. For the last half-day, I visited the Han Yangling Museum (P17-18). The collection is not extensive, but being able to immerse myself and see the imperial-level outer burial pits with my own eyes was a very special experience.

Yangshuo Boyue Hotel in Xingping Ancient Town turned out to be one of those places where you wish you could stay a little longer. The hotel combines modern interiors, beautiful mountain views and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a perfect place to slow down and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding area. The rooms are clean, well-maintained and modern, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The hotel is located in a quiet area, away from the noise and crowds, so it’s easy to relax after a day of exploring. There is also a restaurant on the ground floor, which is very convenient when you don’t feel like going out to find somewhere to eat. Yangshuo, you are stunning Day 4: Xingping's ancient streets and the 20-Yuan view, a bamboo raft down the Yulong River, then lamb skewers and neon lights on West Street — bringing the trip to a perfect end. Accommodation: In Guilin I stayed in Echarm hotel for 2 nights and in Yangshou I stayed in Mountain View hotel. Both hotels were nice and good choices for me. Food: I tried halal food in Lanzhou shop and Xinjiang food. The task was good and expense was normal. Recommendation: 1. I must recommend to everyone to take as few luggage as possible to enjoy the trip to the fullest. 2. Must take the bamboo ride and do the rafting it will make your day special. 3. Choose good hotel on a quieter place to rest well. 4. Rent a bike on 30 RMB to 40RMB for 5 to 6 hours or 1 day and enjoy your day. 5. Don’t take a normal taxi it cost a lot. 6. Always take DIDI but the cost is a bit higher than normal. 7. Rent out an electric bike is the most effective and budget friendly step. #travel2026 #bamboorafting #guilin #reedflutecave #yangshou #yangshuo #guangxi #china #chinatravel Addresses are mentioned below.

📌 Tips If you're planning to follow the popular online guides, there's one thing you must note ⚠️: After arriving at Yangshuo Station from Guilin, there is no CNY 5 bus to Yangdi Pier. You have to go to Yangshuo first and then to Yangdi, which wastes a significant amount of time. We ended up taking a taxi, which took 1 hour and 38 minutes. While chatting with the driver, we heard about the "hidden" route used by experienced hikers. ✅ You can choose to take a taxi from Guilin to Yangdi Pier for only about CNY 60 (high-speed train ticket is CNY 24/person), then start the most beautiful riverside hiking route. If you have time when you reach Xingping, you can find a cafe to relax, or if you're not tired, you can climb Laozhai Mountain or Xianggong Mountain ⛰️—both offer great scenery. Finally, take the high-speed train back to Guilin. ✅ Some people choose to take the CNY 5 bus to Xingping Bus Station after arriving at Yangshuo Station, then hike from Xingping to Yangdi (but this route isn't friendly for those doing a round trip in one day, as it wastes a lot of time and money), and then go to Yangshuo to explore. ✅ The whole trip takes about 6–7 hours, with farmhouses along the way for supplies. ✅ Ferry boat is CNY 5/ride; have some small change ready. ✅ Wear non-slip shoes, and bring sun protection and rain gear. Along the way, you'll encounter the misty Langshi scenery, Nine Horses Mural Hill, and Yellow Cloth Shoal, all while heading toward the spot featured on the CNY 20 banknote. There are three ferry crossings along the way, where you'll take small boats across the Li River to experience the water and green mountains up close. See clear water and unique peaks on sunny days, or enjoy the misty, hazy scenery on rainy days—the scenery is unique on every stretch of the path. Walk and stop as you please, pause to take photos whenever you like, listen to the murmuring river, and let the landscape gently heal you.
