Shirley's Bed and Breakfast

Every guest who has stayed at this hotel is impressed by its charming charm. I am no exception, especially there is no harm without comparison. I originally booked another hotel, but I was disappointed and disappointed when I arrived. The room The moist smell in the room made me unable to stay for a minute. I retired that hotel that night and immediately changed to the second hotel, but it was not very satisfactory. It was noisy by the high-speed road and the hotel facilities were simple. It was very cold, but I couldn't make much trouble to make it through the night. I hurriedly searched for a new hotel the next day until I found this hotel. At the first glance when I saw this Shirley's Bed and Breakfast hotel entity. I was amazed. It was a totally paradise-like resort. The unhappiness in the other 2 hotels was cured immediately. It can be said that this perfect accommodation experience is even for those top hotels such as Marriott and Hilton. No, but the price is much lower than them, only 20 dollars more than my second noisy hotel, but the texture is not at a level, one is On, one is underground. This hotel is relatively low-key. The real scene is far more beautiful than these pictures on Ctrip. These photos I took may be closer. The breakfast is rich and delicious. It is freshly prepared by the host ’s own chef. It is also free. thoughtful. In terms of geographical location, it is not far from the urban area, but it may be because the roads on the mountain feel like they are a bit far away. In fact, they are all illusions. Taxi only costs a few dollars, even if you drive yourself. Convenient, do not have to worry about parking costs. The place is spacious. You can park as long as you like. This hotel only has 3 rooms open for accommodation. It is gone after booking. Each room is large and can accommodate 3 people. The event venue is also very large. They are equipped with separate living rooms and exterior balconies. Each room has a different decoration style, first-class facilities, and high-grade and clean items. This time I live in the underground one, which is a lady's house style. This hotel is quiet and cozy. It is just a dream cottage. I can't be more satisfied. Next time I am going to this hotel, I will visit Roanoke again.

Pros: the friendly and helpful employees encountered at every turn, especially the front desk clerk at check-in on Friday evening, April 19 whose name I wish I had gotten (she and I did enjoy briefly comparing notes on our shared hometown of Danville, Virginia, in case that rings any bells for those supervisors reading this review; this clerk is a gem and deserves a raise!). Moving over to the guest room, the bed was comfortable, and the kitchenette was nicely equipped. That’s pretty much it. Cons: after bringing all of our luggage up to the room, I discovered that there was no curtain on the window except for a sheer blind through which the parking lots shone brightly. There was a curtain rod, but it was missing its curtain. (The helpful desk clerk luckily located a curtain for us to use; otherwise we would have been in a tight spot, as the hotel was fully booked such that we couldn’t have changed rooms, and the sheer blind was totally inadequate for filtering any kind of light.) Also missing from our room was the ottoman/coffee table that should have sat in front of the couch; we know this as a family member was staying in another otherwise-identical room on the same date, which we got to see, ottoman and all. Another missing item—believe it or not!—was a properly-sized comforter blanket for our room’s king-sized bed. Its comforter was at least one size too small, barely covering just the flat top of the mattress, so as we slept, one person was constantly getting uncovered as the other person turned over in bed. Where in the world could all of these items have gone, and why were they not put back in order before our room was rented, especially with no alternate rooms available?! Elsewhere in the room, on one of the bedside tables a brightly-lit digital alarm clock displayed the wrong time, and yet the mechanism for resetting the time was hidden behind a LOCKED rear panel on the clock which was labeled something on the order of “only adjustable by hotel staff.” The other bedside table’s lamp had a burned-out lightbulb. The dishwasher’s exterior was stained with something that looked like coffee or mud splashed all over and not cleaned. The bathroom had peeling wallpaper and one of the towel hooks was pulling off the wall, plus the base of the shower enclosure as it met the bathroom floor was filthy. The shower enclosure appeared to have been originally fit with a sliding glass door or similar, as the frame was present…but instead of a door, an ill-fitting shower curtain (too long for the opening) and a rusted curtain rod had been installed. It was so Jerry-rigged that the entire curtain rod and curtain came crashing to the floor, unprovoked, during one of our showers. Finally, the ground floor was in a state of complete chaos first during the evening, with what I gathered was an overnighting sports team loudly hanging out and tying up an entire long table adjacent to the front desk with dozens of goodie bags or similar; and second during the mi

My wife and I had booked a stay for Sunday 11/21 and Monday 11/22. We arrived to find the facility wasn't very clean, dirty and garbage in a number of areas. The room itself was reasonably clean, except for in the bathroom it appeared that someone had spilled a liquid on the wall next to the shower and it hadn't been fully cleaned. The room was in the fourth floor, with the window above the lobby. Sunday's stay was ok, reasonably uneventful. Monday, we had been out in Roanoke and returned to the room about 5 P.M. There was very loud construction noise, drilling, hammering in close proximity to our room. We ignored the noise for about 45 minutes and then contacted the front desk. The person who answered the phone said that there had been three other complaints and security was going up to advise them to stop. The noise continued for an additional 45 minutes. During our entire stay, there were a number of children present in the lobby. By the appearance, they were children of a hotel employee. There was also a dog present on Monday afternoon/evening. The children made a great deal of noise, screaming, hollering and crying. This was happening up until right at 11 P.M. Tuesday morning at 7 A.M. the construction noise began again. Hammering, drilling and cutting of metal. This noise woke my wife and I up, and prevented us from sleeping. We gathered our things and went to check out. My wife spoke to who we believe was the person in charge to reiterate our problem with the noise. The woman that she spoke to initially lied and said that she wasn't aware that there was construction noise happening. In the next breath, she said that the were converting part of the hotel into an extended stay facility, she apologized, not seeming very sincere. We were not notified upon booking the room that there was construction happening, there were not any notices posted in the lobby and nothing was mentioned by the clerk at check in that there could be construction noise. A complete waste of money! We contacted the hotel and Holiday Inn Corporate with zero satisfaction. Stay away!

Stayed at the Comfort Inn for one night. Accommodations were nice and the room was very clean, the rubber duck was a cute addition in the bathroom. Hotel was also very quiet, no slamming doors or hallway noise. Little difficult to find off of I-81 but eventually we got there. Breakfast was the usual fare you get at most hotels; waffles, eggs, cereal, bagels, etc but the coffee was good. I gave them a 4 star because the ice machines were out of order and the pool was closed. After a long drive from NY, would have enjoyed a swim.

The staff was very friendly and professional. Room was clean. Check in was easly and quick. There was a soccer team staying at the hotel. They got a little noisy, as well as some kids running in the halls one night. The staff asked them to quiet it down both times. Never stayed in a hotel where that was done. Quietest hotel I have ever stayed in. Breakfast was you typical continental. The staff made sure the area was kept clean and food was available. Mentioned to the front desk the bathroom sink had a drip. She felt bad I didn't mention earlier. Was really not big deal. Location was perfect. Close to the airport. Would definitely recommend.
