The hotel is quiet and you can relax well. The bed was fine without being spectacular as regards comfort. The bathroom was clean, a little small because the door was adjusted to the millimeter with the furniture they had from the washroom. Breakfast was varied: two-type beef toasts, varied bakery, cereals, inputs, biscuits, potato tortilla, several marmelade in individual packings, orange juice of a machine. The woman who was in the room at the very pleasant breakfast.
In the reception, we were also told what to see in the area.
The staff felt unfriendly from the start. Their attitude was cold and rigid. There was no sense of warmth or welcome. Interactions felt uncomfortable. I couldn’t wait to leave.
Booking anything was overly strict. The pool and restaurant required rigid time slots. It didn’t feel like a vacation. It felt controlled instead of relaxing. The rules took away the enjoyment.
At the restaurant, I wanted to look around and admire the design, but I was told to stay seated. It felt patronizing and unnecessary, like being treated as a child. I’ve never felt this uncomfortable before.
Only at checkout, I was told the pool cost extra. This was never clearly mentioned before, but regardless of this ”misunderstanding”, for a five-star hotel to charge extra for using the pool is very disappointing. It felt cheap and not what you expect at this premium level.
The hotel is beautiful and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, the staff ruins the experience, and their attitude overshadows everything else. I recommend to visit it if you're passing by the area, but I wouldn’t recommend sleeping here at all.
Let me digress. As a loyal fan of Ctrip, I still choose to book from Ctrip even though it is slightly more expensive than other platforms. However, during this trip to Europe, Ctrip's prices were always more expensive than some other platforms, so I only booked one night on Ctrip in more than ten days. I hope Ctrip will reflect on the reasons.
Let's talk about the advantages first:
1. The price is cheap, less than 60 euros in the city center, which makes local customers astonished.
2. The location is excellent. The customer said that I chose the center of the center. After arriving, I saw that it was facing the Church of Our Lady, and there was indeed no better location.
3. The room was clean and tidy, and the front desk was very good.
Let's talk about the disadvantages:
1. The air conditioner is not very powerful, it takes a long time to turn on, and it is not too cool.
2. The lighting is not very good.
3. There is no quilt, only a sheet, and the bedding is not comfortable.
It may be because of the air conditioner that I didn't sleep well. But this price also summarizes: There is nothing to complain about, it is still five stars.
What an amazing find, we where very happy staying here.
Rooms are fantastic, just as shown in the pictures, clean tidy, spacious, large bathroom minibar in the room with reasonable priced items.
Check in was very easy and we left our bags as we where early, staff very helpful checking us in and offering directions of places to visit.
Hotel located close to town, stations and eateries, we had a great base for exploring Zaragoza.
Breakfast was good, plenty of items to choose from, good selection of food and coffee (via a coffee machine).
The hotel is superb itself, not dated, not in need of updates its just perfect.
We didnt use the in house restaurant as we ate out in plenty of the others in the area.
Habitación amplia , muy calentita , y buena relación calidad precio, instalaciones mejorar o arreglar el spa y mantenimiento del gym , no hay colchonetas para estirar y varias máquinas en reparación
The hotel is super comfortable, beautiful, and well-located. The room was spacious, very comfortable, and clean. The price was great, and I highly recommend it.
Very beautiful town, not many residents, the flowers and plants are very lifelike, the hotel is very clean and tidy, the facilities are complete, there is a small refrigerator, the landlord is hospitable and can also bring a dog, the dog's charge of 5 euros is very cost-effective. Praise!
I can't complain of anything, the hotel has all the services and facilities in very good conditions.. wide and clean rooms. It is a 4-star and are well-placed

Great
My stay at the Catalonia El Pilar was nothing short of exceptional. This hotel has a charm and quality that far exceeds its official four-star rating, and I firmly believe it deserves a fifth star. From the moment I entered, I was struck by the beautiful, character-filled decor. The hotel masterfully blends historic charm with modern comfort, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere. This sense of character extends to the rooms, which are impeccably clean and spacious. The excellence began at check-in with the wonderfully helpful and efficient receptionist service. Every staff member I encountered was professional and genuinely dedicated to ensuring a perfect stay. The breakfast was another highlight, offering a wide and delicious selection of hot and cold items that provided the perfect start to each day of exploration. It is clear that the management is doing an excellent job. The seamless operation, the motivated staff, and the meticulous attention to detail throughout the property speak volumes about their leadership. A final note on the location: Zaragoza itself is an amazing city, a captivating blend of history, culture, and vibrant local life. For better or worse, it remains wonderfully off-the-beaten-track for the majority of travelers, making it a truly authentic Spanish discovery. Combining this incredible city with a hotel of such high caliber makes for an unforgettable trip. I would not hesitate to return and cannot recommend the Catalonia El Pilar highly enough
It's quite an experience to stay in a building with the history and presence of the CanFranc station. The entire staff is professional, friendly, and very attentive. The junior suite is spacious, well-decorated, and very comfortable. I would perhaps change the two joined beds for a single king-size bed, but it's a minor detail. The breakfast buffet is very complete and varied. The heated pool is a great place to relax, and the spa services (massages and wellness treatments) are very well-chosen. The CanFranc Express, the Michelin-starred restaurant, deserves a special mention. The tasting menu, along with the experience of boarding the carriage where the menu is served, is truly special. Highly recommended! And congratulations to Eduardo Salanova and the restaurant team for making it possible.
This hotel is really old by the look of it but it is well maintained. Our room is spacious and clean. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. If you drive, the hotel offers parking for 13 euros and you can get in and out many times. Highly recommended!
Our second time staying at this hotel and it was good. We arrived with two small dogs. In order to avoid our dogs causing noise and inconvenience to other guests if we left the room, we decided to have room service. Reception advised room service was available from 20.30, however when we called ro place food order at 20.30 we were told the kitchen was closed because they were preparing for a wedding next day. A big disappointment!!. The city itself is beautiful and the people are so nice. We hope to visit again in 2025.
Did not realize there was more than one NH in Zaragoza so went to wrong one. Staff at the Gran were outstanding from reception to bellhop to car park attendees to breakfast. Shame rooftop is not utilized for a pool / sun deck. The Gran would have been impressive in it's day but is in need of renovation. Location great. Stayed 4 nights.
