First time here but would definitely return!
Right outside the station so of train travel is your thing then it’s great, parking at the hotel is £30 for 24hours (just had my car bashed in the car park so that’s not the best start to it!)
Staff are super friendly, really enjoyed the hotel, TVs in our room definitely need an update but I didn’t use it so no issue for me
Bathroom is more than adequate and shower has plenty pressure and heat
Breakfast was good, not the worst quality and a buffet affair
Didn’t realise check in is 4pm! Luckily my room was ready so they let me in (arrived 15:30)
I’d definitely head back to Chester and definitely stay here again but I’d be on the train next time:)
This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel, and our choice was primarily due to its convenient location and excellent breakfast. It is very close to the airport and very quiet at night, surrounded by farms and grassland.
We love the breakfast because it is not a typical buffet. Instead, you can choose from a menu with a great variety of options, all of which taste wonderful. The restaurant's decoration is also lovely, and you will be more than satisfied with the portions. The restaurant staff are passionate, friendly, and helpful.
One point to note is that the reception area often has guests around, which is just an observation and neither positive nor negative. The receptionists always do their best and are very nice and professional. However, the room design is a bit outdated.
The room is big (designed for a family of four) decorated in nerf theme, kids would love it. All is good but our shower tap is not functioning well, only gives out boiling hot water which we had to use the bath and let the water cool down a bit before we can use a towel to wash. Not the best but image it’s a good place for family with young kids. Walls are thin, we can hear next door running and snoring. Ear plugs ensured a good night sleep :D
Travelodge Crewe Barthomley offers top-notch services and amenities, ensuring guests experience utmost comfort.Visitors can take advantage of complimentary parking directly at the hotel. The hotel maintains a completely smoke-free zone, providing a breathable atmosphere. Throughout the day and evening, grab a bite to eat from hotel's self-service vending machines whenever you please.
Title: Alderley Edge Hotel: Victorian Elegance Meets Modern Comfort in Cheshire
Review:
Nestled in the heart of Cheshire, Alderley Edge Hotel offers a charming blend of Victorian heritage and contemporary luxury. Originally a grand 19th-century villa, the hotel has been thoughtfully transformed into a stylish 50-room retreat, maintaining its historic character while providing modern amenities.
Location & Ambience:
Situated just off Alderley Edge’s bustling high street, the hotel is perfectly positioned for guests to explore the village’s trendy boutiques, restaurants, and bars. The nearby sandstone ridge, known as “The Edge,” offers scenic woodland walks and panoramic views, adding to the area’s allure.
Accommodation:
Guests have praised the hotel for its cleanliness and comfort. Rooms are well-appointed, featuring modern furnishings and amenities such as Temple Spa toiletries, free Wi-Fi, and tea and coffee facilities. While some guests have noted that certain rooms can be on the smaller side, the overall comfort and ambiance receive high marks.
Dining Experience:
The hotel’s restaurant, set within a rebuilt conservatory, offers a bright and airy dining space. Guests have highlighted the quality of the food, particularly the grilled fish dishes and Sunday roasts. The bar and outdoor garden seating provide additional spaces to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Service & Facilities:
The staff at Alderley Edge Hotel are frequently commended for their friendliness and professionalism, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. Facilities include free parking with electric charging stations, pet-friendly accommodations (with an additional charge), and well-maintained gardens. However, it’s worth noting that the hotel does not have leisure facilities or a gym.
Guest Feedback:
Overall, guests have expressed satisfaction with their stays, citing the hotel’s cleanliness, location, and service as standout features. Some have mentioned minor issues such as thin walls leading to noise disturbances and occasional maintenance concerns in the bathrooms. Despite these, the consensus remains positive, with many guests indicating a desire to return.
Conclusion:
Alderley Edge Hotel successfully marries historical charm with modern comforts, making it a delightful choice for travelers seeking a serene yet convenient base in Cheshire. Whether you’re exploring the local countryside or indulging in the village’s vibrant scene, this hotel offers a memorable and comfortable stay.
We have actually stayed here several times over the past month as it is so peaceful, comfy, and ideally located for what we need.
The staff were so welcoming from the moment we first arrived, Ann on reception immediately upgraded us to a larger room when she saw how much luggage we had with us, she has also always greeted us with a smile and a welcoming hello everytime we pass reception and has been very helpful and nice to talk too.
Shakir arrived just after Christmas and has been an absolute superstar with all guests, it appears he will help anyone with whatever they need. He is so pleasant to talk too and even encouraged my wife to sit with the staff one night and join in the conversation which for us was going above and beyond, as my wife has been socially isolated for health reasons.
The housekeeping staff are always available should they be required and Rumi has been very helpful and always polite with a smile and hello.
The hotel had been shut for years and only recently reopened, so is quickly being renovated. The Restaurant and Bar are currently closed but I am sure will be fully operational soon. The lift isn't working but hopefully will also be fixed soon.
All in all a very pleasant stay and we are actually sad to have to leave.
We will be back soon x
My husband had a broken bone in his leg we where booked a room on the first floor. When he saw us he arranged for our room swap, offered us tea and coffee whilst we waited for this to be arranged. All staff were very professional and courteous offering to take our bags to the room. We will plan another trip as we were unable to use the facilities.

I had a good stay with my girlfriend at The Tytherington.
The only thing we were unhappy with was the food. It took about 1 hour to receive our food, and we were also told different information about the Kitchen closure time. Likely, we could give our order on time, but someone who was served after us was not able to. It seemed that on the day we visited, the kitchen staff was either short-staffed or had other issues. The staff behind the counter looked inexperienced, with only 1 or 2 who knew what to do, though they had too much to do already and couldn't assist.
The view from their garden was great, over their golf pitch.

MMikethetravellingscouserThe Mill Hotel & Spa is in an ideal location, just 5 minutes walk from Chester train station and the centre of Chester itself. So, what is a stay in this hotel like?
I stayed in the Business Class Double room with a view of the canal. The room is a fair size, with the king size bed being very comfortable and clean. A big drawback for the room, however, is the lack of air conditioning facilities available. I stayed at the end of July, and whilst the outside wasn’t hot, the room itself was stuffy and opening the window didn’t really help too much. I can’t imagine what it would be like staying here in during a heatwave, which is becoming more common!
The room also comes with decent tea and coffee making facilities, along with a desk for working. The bathroom is a good size, but it could do with a bit of cleaning. There are two shower nozzles - the smaller standard nozzle was fine but the rainfall shower nozzle was extremely dirty. It looks like it hasn’t been used in a while - and I’d recommend not using that particular shower if you stay here. The extractor fan vent is also very dusty and obviously hasn’t been cleaned in a while!
Over to the spa facilities - they are nothing short of exceptional. This is the real draw when staying here, with the swimming pool and sauna being to an excellent standard. Use of the swimming pool and gym is free to all guests whilst staying here, so make good use of the facilities!
I opted for the inclusion of breakfast during my stay, and I’d say it was ok rather than great. The amount of food available isn’t huge, though the likes of the croissants and cooked breakfast are to a good standard.
As the hotel is in need of an update - it firmly feels like it’s stuck in the mid noughties - the hotel does excel in the standard of service provided to its customers. Whether that be from the cleaners, the reception staff or the waiting staff, everyone is smiling and friendly. It makes all the difference! Would I stay here again? Yes, I would. I hope they do update the rooms soon enough - they really do need air conditioning! And I also hope the bathrooms were thoroughly cleaned a little more. But everything else was to a good standard and for the price paid (£90 for two people with breakfast and spa facilities included), you can’t find much better than that!

GGuest UserReally loved this hotel from the moment we got there. Clean and great vibe ! lovely venue, room and super comfy bed and pillows. Excellent facilities and swimming pool. Great bar and restaurant area. Only thing was little slow to clear the table and to remind the bar staff both nights about bringing the kids menu ice cream. Apart from that, it was fabulous, and definitely will come back 😀
GGuest UserThe hotel is in a great location near to the city centre. Rooms are spacious and beds comfortable, and staff are helpful.
Two points: firstly, the picture of the pool is very misleading as it is very small (not as it appears). Secondly, the ambience of the bar area is spoiled by multiple television screens - which guests cannt get away from. While we were there nobody other than staff was looking at the televisions and more atmosphere would be gained by getting rid of some, if not all of them!
GGuest UserIncredible from start to finish. Slight mix up on the booking system but sorted within minutes. Couldn't have been better looked after! Excellent value, staff that go the extra mile made our 1 night stay so enjoyable the children didn't want to go home!
SSharon PatriciaWe had a lovely time it was one of our celebration for our 50th wedding anniversary and the staff were great. I had knee surgery 12 weeks ago. They made sure we had a downstairs room and even found another chair to go in our room as I needed one with arms on to get up.
We had dinner at the restaurant Friday evening and the food and service was quick and excellent.
GGuest UserFirst visit to Chester and took a chance on deciding where to stay. We loved this hotel and the location is ideal at the side of the canal with a short walk to 2 nearby lovely pubs. The rooms were very nice and relaxing with the bathroom on the small side but perfectly functional. The staff are amazing and every one of them was very friendly and welcoming. We did eat in the hotel on the first night and the food was fine. Would certainly recommend this hotel and hope to visit again next year.
GGuest UserFriendly reception staff. Great location. Room good size and modern bathroom but not the cleanest, hair on dress cushions, hair in shower tray, lots of dust in room. Expected a bit better from here.
AAndrew Gerard Fendtwe stayed 20-27 Dec:
>>>the good - warm bathroom floor, daytime reception lady's service attitude (the ex-nurse), aircon, downstairs quiet seating area, coffee and croissants in morning, blackout curtains, windows/view of racecourse
>>>the bad - booking error by Roomzzz - they cancelled the wrong dates when i made a change (although compensated us with upgrade thank you), no free parking (and the ringgo app forced us to pay GBP15 for 24 hours for only part-day parking), we had to remind staff about room cleaning twice, the night receptionist was not customer-friendly and also was constantly listened to loud TV on speaker, the bed sheets had some stains on when we checked in see pic.
