AAnonymous User💯💯💯 recommend Lindartun Guesthouse!
Stayed here for 1 night on 1st October 2024 after our drive to Highlands and got here when it was already dark but i loved the drive to the junction from the main road to the guesthouse.
It was pretty dark around the area which we thought we could be lucky for aurora sightings but it was cloudy. Luckily, I asked the owner when was the last aurora sighting at the guesthouse and she immediately opened her laptop and that’s when I found put there’s aurora forecast website in Iceland. She was the one that let us know there’s higher chance to spot aurora on the upcoming friday due to clear sky.
Oh btw, for our check-in process, when I first arrived and entered the guesthouse, please take off your shoes by the entrance, and go to reception area infront of the kitchen and take the house phone to call the owner.
We booked room no. 5 which cones with a sofa bed and the long toom was so cute and cozy. This is the cutest guesthouse room design among all 13 accoms across the country during our trip. I really loved it a lot as the room was long and spacious.
The common dining area was really nice and big which I didn’t really spend time here. But I used the kitchen the next morning to boil hot water and make myself my hot chocolate and instant mushroom soup.
Worth my money. Will book again if I visit Iceland again next time!
How I’d described it:
Lindartun (Cute Cozy Homey Vibe)
Room Type: 1 Queen Bed + 1 Sofa Bed
Toilet: Private Bathroom (clean and big)
Perks: Nice kitchen and dining area
Thank you for helping me out with my aurora hunting and for maintaining a really cute and nice guesthouse, owner!
悠悠長 旅遊 日記Hótel Grímsborgir is absolutely fantastic! The location is super convenient, right next to the Golden Circle, making it easy to drive to all the attractions. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and each one has its own private hot tub or a shared one. Soaking in the hot tub and stargazing at night is incredibly therapeutic~ The breakfast spread is varied and fresh, and the staff are all very enthusiastic. I definitely want to stay here again on my next trip to Iceland! Highly recommended for self-driving travelers looking to relax!
GGuest UserWe stayed at a hotel right next to Skógafoss, and you can drive directly into the Skógafoss parking lot, which makes access extremely convenient.
We had two rooms with views of the mountains and the waterfall, which was truly special. The rooms were a little on the smaller side, but they were very clean and the beds were comfortable.
A useful note: the cold water in the room is safe for drinking, while the hot water comes from natural hot springs (which may have a slight sulfur smell, as is common in Iceland).
Breakfast had a smaller selection, but the taste and quality were good. I would also recommend trying the hotel restaurant at least once during your stay—the food was quite enjoyable.
We were fortunate to catch the northern lights on both nights. On the first night, there was a strong, dancing aurora (around KP 6–7 / G3 storm) right outside the hotel in the parking area. On the second night (around KP 3), I woke up in the middle of the night and was still able to capture it on my phone despite some light pollution from the hotel.
One small thing to note is that the main entrance doors close after 11 PM, so we had to use the side entrance when returning late at night.
GGuest UserThe good:
- Breakfast was very good!
- Room and bed was warm.
- hot water shower works almost instantly.
- Netflix and Amazon Prime available on the TV.
Can be improved:
- toilet slide door emited loud screeching sound which was annoying.
- poor sound isolation between floors, we stayed on the ground floor and we could hear stomping the whole night. We feedback this to the hotel staff but was just given a “I cannot do anything about it” face and a shoulder shrug which clearly indicated they did not have the intention to do anything about it.
- phone in the room was not working, staff had to reboot it as they said it’s a common issue.
- the air vent in the bathroom stopped moving after sometime, was told to turn it off and on again to make it work again.
- we checked in the same time as another couple at the reception, we overheard that they got a complementary room upgrade from the standard room (same as us). We asked if we would be upgraded as well, staff just told us that it depends on the amount we paid for the room. But clearly we booked the same standard room?
Overall:
Room rate was on the high side and much was expected but the condition of the room and service were under delivered.
MMini1222The hotel's location is super convenient, just a few minutes' drive from town, and the views are absolutely stunning – you can see the Northern Lights right from your door!
**Amenities:** The room is spacious, beautiful, and very clean. You can even cook here, which is a big plus. It's really comfortable, and I highly recommend staying for two nights for the full experience. It was fantastic!
GGuest UserWe have a 1 night stay at Midgard Camp during our 9 days road trip in Iceland. It is our 2nd stop hotel of our trip.
Though the room are not big, but it is comfortable, good and cosy enough for all. The family rooms comes with 1 double bed plus 1 bunk bed enough for all 4 of us.
The whole place is very vibrant, friendly staff, nicely decorated and energetic yet peaceful and quiet for individual enjoyment. The whole place is very well maintained and It is very clean even the common toilet as I bathe there to avoid waiting for our private toilet to save some time. The common kitchen is for all guests and is well equipped. We cooked our hot meal as well as breakfast there. We can also enjoy the complementary coffee/tea from the hotel paid breakfast. Overall, We enjoy our stay there even though it is just 1 night. The location is easily found with the GPS, you wouldn't miss it. Highly recommended this place. Also, really appreciate the friendly staff giving us a round tour of the place explaining where are the common toilet, hot bathe tub, dryer for our swim wear should we use the hot bathe tub and sauna. This is indeed exceed our expectation actually. 10/10!
PPottspostWe had a fantastic stay at North Star Cottages. The cottage was clean and well appointed. We arrived to a warm, snug cabin after a day of walking in the rain, and it had everything we needed for a short one night stay. We were a family of four and we brought food to prepare. The kitchen had everything to cook, eat, and wash up. Beds were comfy and the shower was hot. Really great place.
麒麒麟The rooms are located in separate buildings outside of the reception area, much like a villa-style business hotel. However, there are no elevators, only stairs, so you'll need to carry your luggage yourself.
GGuest UserThe accommodation was fine.
The accommodation was spacious, especially the bathroom, which had a countertop, which was useful for spreading all my cosmetics out!
The place itself isn't a tourist destination, but it was very handy. There was supermarket nearby and petrol station and not far from the main road.
Handy for the Flo nature reserve if you're into birdwatching. The coastline there is impressive. Big waves
Or handy if you want to visit Reykjavik, which we did for the evening. (45 minute drive?).
I didn't score so highly on service because there isn't any service as such. There were also no additional facilities other than the room and ensuite, which was fine. Parking is out the front and was plentiful.
We stayed in mid-May and it was fortunately very quiet. We did arrive early, and were pleased to be allowed in to our rooms, so really appreciated that. Thanks!
GGuest UserThe room was not soundproof at all, and I could clearly hear noise throughout the night. The entire room felt damp, especially the bedding. The blanket was noticeably moist, which caused me to have an allergic reaction. My skin became extremely itchy, and I barely got any sleep the whole night.
This was a very uncomfortable experience, and I was extremely disappointed. I will definitely not stay here again.
