Facilities: From the outside, the hotel looks compact, but it's surprisingly spacious inside, and the room size exceeded my expectations. The separated wet and dry areas in the bathroom are a definite plus. The parking lot is right next door, and the hotel offers a discount, so there are plenty of spaces.
Cleanliness: Excellent! Very tidy and spotless.
Environment: The location is great, situated on the main road to Matsuyama Castle, making it very convenient for getting in and out of the city. It's only a 10-minute drive at most to Dogo Onsen shopping street.
Service: The front desk staff member was very enthusiastic and spoke fluent English. His service attitude was excellent; he helped me carry my luggage downstairs and patiently explained the parking situation, including alternative parking options.
Next time I visit Matsuyama, I'll definitely choose to stay here again!
Conventient location; 10 minute walk to nearest bus station, and about 30 minutes max travel time to anywhere we wanted to go!
Room was clean and compact; but the double bed is quite squeezy if you're fitting two people inside.
Buffet breakfast is 1300¥ if you inquire the day before you intend to eat. It is 1500¥ if you buy it on the day itself.
Accidentally booked a smoking room; but the staff were kind enough to change it for us once they had a room.
The hotel is clean and tidy. For self-check-in, staff are available to assist. You can pick up skincare products and toothbrushes at the front desk on the 2nd floor. Guests can enjoy the hotel's hot spring for free. It's very convenient for shopping, with Takashimaya right next door and two convenience stores downstairs.
Transportation is incredibly convenient. Please note, it's right next to Matsuyama-shi Station (not JR Matsuyama Station). If you need to go to JR Matsuyama Station, there's a tram stop downstairs that also provides direct access to Okaido, the Matsuyama Castle Ropeway, Dogo Onsen, and more. From Iyo-Tetsu Matsuyama-shi Station, where the hotel is located, you can also directly reach Baishinji Temple, a popular spot for fans of 'Tokyo Love Story.' Additionally, there's a highway bus terminal nearby, offering more economical travel to places like Takamatsu, Tokushima, and Osaka compared to taking the train, just for your reference.
The buffet breakfast is indeed excellent; the five types of orange juice and the sea bream rice bowl alone make it worth it. Every afternoon until evening, welcome drinks and coffee are also available for self-service on the 2nd floor.
Warm services, clean family bath available, free bike rental was handy and a ferry port to pretty islands is just across the road. Break fast & dinner were good too.
The rooms at Imabari Kokusai Hotel were spacious and clean!
The view of Shimanami Bridge from the room was amazing! The night view was also amazing!
The breakfast was a buffet with lots of Imabari specialties, so I was able to eat my fill!
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful!
The staff at the front desk were efficient, though they came across as cold and reserved. The room was disappointing, with run-of-the-mill furniture/furnishings and a creaky chair. The lights were too dim. There was no view as the lower half of the window was blocked by a wall. On the other hand, the bathroom looked quite elegant and was kept clean.
The location is great. There are plenty of dining & shopping options nearby. The hotel has a shopping mall on the lower floors and is next to Mitsukoshi Department Store and Okaido Shopping Street. The Okaido Tram Stop is down the street. The bus stop for the airport limousine is right in front of Mitsukoshi. Attractions such as Bansuiso, Saka no Ue no Kumo Museum and the cable car to Matsuyama Castle are all within walking distance.
Good location near the Dogo Onsen Main Building and the onsen streets. The room is very basic and quite small. There was only one pillow provided and there were no extra blankets. There are three onsens in total; one indoor and two outdoor ones. The best part of my stay was the dinner which was sumptuous. It costs 10000 yen per head and has to be ordered in advance of check in.
A Perfect Business Hotel! The rooms are new, clean, and compact but very functional. The bathroom was spotless and shiny. Personally, I really liked the library café in the lobby — a cozy space available to hotel guests even before check-in and after check-out. It offers free drinks, Wi-Fi, and power outlets. Breakfast had a limited selection, but everything was delicious.
The location is excellent! It's right in the middle of the two big transport hubs - JR Matsuyama station and Matsuyama City station. Both stations are 15 mins walk away, or you can take the tram to reach both of them, the tram stop is right next to the hotel. And there are convenient stores just at the corner. Food in the hotel restaurant is good, room is clean. The only thing which is not so satisfied is the internet wireless connection is not very stable. Overall I'm very happy with my stays.
Great location, nice place, the air conditioner worked fine which is important during Japanese winters, the owner was friendly, I went to onsen so not sure about amenities and stuff, but the bunk bed was comfy. Female dorm was nice.
We recently had the pleasure of staying at this exceptional ryokan, and we cannot express enough gratitude for the wonderful experience. Every morning, we were treated to meticulously prepared, delicious breakfasts that set the tone for incredibly relaxing days. The Okami-san's (female inn manager) warm hospitality ensured our trip was comfortable and memorable. We were particularly impressed by the introduction to Nagahama's charming local cuisine, which allowed us to truly appreciate the culinary delights of Ehime prefecture. The attentive service and authentic Japanese experience made our stay unforgettable. We would love to return if given the chance and highly recommend this ryokan to anyone seeking a genuine taste of Japanese hospitality. Thank you for an amazing stay! Date of stay: August 2024 This review captures the essence of the original letter, highlighting the key points that would be relevant and appealing to potential guests, such as the quality of food, the hospitality, and the local cultural experience. I've omitted personal details and formal letter elements to make it more suitable for a public review. Would you like me to modify anything in this review?
We really enjoyed the full Japanese Inn experience at Ebisuya Ryokan. This means you have a private room for sleeping but shared facilities for toilet and bathing. There are also very comfortable, relaxed shared lounge and reading areas. The whole Ryokan was beautifully appointed with traditional Japanese furniture. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, and despite our limited Japanese we managed to communicate effectively. The room was large and beautifully appointed. The traditional bedding was laid out for us during dinner, which was served downstairs in the restaurant/dining area. The dinner was filling and delicious with an emphasis on seafood. The onsite onsens were glorious after a day travelling and they are not segregated by sex and can be locked so you can have a private onsen with your partner or family. Breakfast was also sumptuous and very traditional Japanese. If you would like to visit a less travelled part of Japan I would recommend this ryokan. Great access to the beautiful Sadamisaki Peninsula. The local town also has some great cafes!
I've been to Okudogo six times, which means I visit Matsuyama frequently. Every time I go, I make sure to visit Okudogo. In spring, the cherry blossoms are stunning. The hot springs are truly wonderful, and the breakfast and dinner are also great. While the rooms are a bit old, they are spacious, and the mountain view from the room is beautiful. I went on December 1st, and the autumn leaves were gorgeous! Highly recommend!
An excellently located hotel for touring the city. It is right across from the main shopping street. Located on the tram line with short rides to most tourist attractions in Matsuyama. The rooms are well appointed and the parking is accessed from the rear of the hotel site. It is an automated parking system which requires you to drive it into and out of the elevator before it is whisked away. I’d recommend this property to anyone looking to visit Matsuyama.
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Ryokan Chaume. This family run Ryokan made us feel at home. The manager drove us to and from a terrific onsen nearby and afterwards we were served a delicious multi-course dinner. The drink list was excellent too. After a tasty Japanese style breakfast we needed help making an onward reservation, so the manager made several calls on our behalf and found us a place that had a last minute cancellation. I would recommend the Ryokan Chaume to anyone looking for a high quality inn.
